Configure DHCP Server in Solaris 10

Hi,
I am trying to configure my Solaris 10 as an DHCP server. I managed get it configured and assigning IP address to my client machines (Windows XPs). However, I can't figure out how to get the "Default Gateway" passed into the Windows XP. Here is what I have done so far:
# /usr/sbin/dhcpconfig -D -r SUNWfiles -p /var/dhcp
# /usr/sbin/dhcpconfig -N 192.168.1.0 -t 192.168.1.1
# pntadm -A 192.168.1.51 -m dns 192.168.1.0
But on the Windows XP clients, I get the right IP address, and netmask, but the default gateway is blank. How do I specify that in my DHCP server so that the default gateway gets sent to the XP clients?
Thanks.

Get the apache server from www.sunfreeware.com and install it on your server.
The url will http://hostname-of-your-server
Go to apache.org to get apache documentation.

  • How to configure Proxy server on Solaris 10 - SPARC

    Hi All
    Please guide on how to configure Proxy server on Solaris 10 - SPARC ?
    What tool should be used?

    Proxy configurations are most often done within the application software that needs that function and not necessarily done in the OS.   That permits you to make very specific settings and not just generic global settings that could conflict with other software.
    Can you tell us what research you have done on the topic?
    For example, have you glanced through a Google search on "solaris web proxy" ?
    If you are hoping to use a specific web server application your forum post might be better placed in a forum space for that software instead of in a general OS forum space.   What application software will you be using?

  • Configure DHCP Server options for Internet Sharing?

    Good morning, all.
    I have a Sprint (Sierra 595U) AirCard internet connection, which I'm sharing over my AirPort (using OS X's built-in Internet Sharing) to several Windows clients in my office. I see that when Sharing is enabled, en1 takes on the address 10.0.2.1 by default, as well as the role of default gateway/router and DHCP server for the Windows clients.
    My question is: Can I configure the IP addresses and DHCP options for Internet Sharing to another address/mask scheme?
    Just like I changed my home wireless network away from the default 192.168.1.0/24 for security reasons, I'd like to do the same here.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Yes, of course security paranoia can be cultured. like yogurt
    I googled.
    This might help:

    but from what I just read, changing away from the default net & mask might be putzy.Some other discussions for you:

    or you might see something here that helps.
    Sorry not to be more specific. Hard to tell if you already googled for yourself.
    I'll let someone smarter than I am take a look for you, here.

  • How do you configure DHCP server on OSX Lion Server

    I want to use my Mac Mini Server as a DHCP server on my network.   I cannot find the place under Server to configure it.
    Where would I find it?   It is not under Server.

    Hi
    Download the Server Admin Tools from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1457
    These are not installed when installing Lion and then Server App. Once installed launch Server Admin, click on the Server's name in the side panel, click on Settings > Services and enable the DHCP Service. Once enabled it should appear in the side panel. The rest should be fairly obvious?

  • Best practice configure DHCP server NAC

    hi all,
    any idea how the best practice deploy dhcp on cas? i tired follow user guide configure dhcp on cas but still cannot running smoothly user just only grep ip authenticate.
    - CCA agent very slow appear when user get ip dhcp on authenticate.any idea ?
    - how to integrated profiler with nac appliance .?

    Hi ahmed,
    You have configured your CAS to be your DHCP server, Thats well and good because you are using Real IP mode, Which Supports the CAS to be a DHCP server.
    Remember
    This Setting is only For your Authentication VLAN that your client gets an ip While Authentication ok.
    When your Client switches to Access VLAN , your client trafiic no longer flows through the CAS so CAS is now not responsible for DHCP.
    You'll have to configure another DHCP on the Trusted Side which can Lease IPs to the Acess VLAN Members.
    As you have configured OOB then your client is in Acess VLAN and does not come in contact with the CAS so you need the Trusted side DHCP to give the Client an IP address.
    Here in your Scenario your ACCESS VLANS are 2022,2044
    Hope this helps, Do reply after Testing.
    Thank You
    Regards
    Edward

    Okay, more information:
    Workstations that are imaged will receive SLP information as long as the
    Zen agent hasn't been installed.(using latest Zen7SP1 Postpatch)
    Once you install the Zen agent you will no longer receive SLP via DHCP.
    Note that the Novell Client version can be 491 to 491 SP3.
    However, if you rename the C:\windows\system32\novell\novdhcp.dll file,
    you'll resume getting SLP info from DHCP.(TID 10093676)
    Pretty strange, eh?

    Firmware Version:
    v1.1.1.06 (2013-12-06, 11:02:37)

    RV320 V01
    Dear sir,
    I got a issues, I have configure 2 VLAN on RV-320, VLAN 1 i have disable the DHCP, VLAN 25 i have configure DHCP Server enabled, but it seem DHCP bind on VLAN 25 is not working, then i try to config the static IP on device testing the VLAN is working, successful separate broadcast domain. and i can pint the VLAN 25 IP address, on DHCP i have re-enable VLAN 1 DHCP Server, it also working, successful assign the ip address to dynamic host.
    any advise on my issues?
    Thanks,

    echolai@califor,
    i had vlan disabled and vlan untagged for my RV320 in the lab, which would not hand out ip address for a different vlan. At this point at your earliest convenience open a support case so an engineer can look at the configuration in your router. If you like i can take a look at your config. Just send config to PM.

    what's your DHCP server configuration?
    type dhtadm -P and that will print the configuration of the dhcp table and all your macros.
    On another note, I also have a blade server (3Up CMU-4) that has USB keyboard and mouse, even if the interface is PS/2 (converted internally to USB). Solaris will not recognize the keyboard and mouse when installing or booting, but after the kernel is loaded I can use them OK. I do get the keyboard profile error and I think it is related to the fact that there is no PS/2 k/m enabled. The only way that I found that I could use the mouse in the graphical interface was to use a USB keyboard with a hub and connect a USB mouse to the keyboard, Anybody has any explanation for this behavior?

    2. realizing i did a mistake, i renabled ipv6 on nic after that

    6. i also tried internet connection wizard, which fails reporting error Internet connection wizard cannot configure dhcp for ipv6 sbs 2008. this

    Although I am not using IPV6 but server may be using it. Can someone please please help me.

    Hi,
    I can find that there is a
    same thread that you posted in the forum. I had replied it. Please check if can help you. Just remind that please reboot when uncheck IPv6 option and monitor the result. Meanwhile, please check if can find some relevant issue when you run
    SBS 2008 BPA.
    In addition, please refer to the following thread and skip the DHCP check, then run the wizard. Please check
    if this wizard can be ran completely. If run successfully, then enable the DHCP
    again.
    SBS
    2011 is detecting DHCP on my network after I disable it and i cant continue setup
    Hope this helps.

  • Solaris 10 x86 PXE and jumpstart using Linux DHCP server !!

    Hi,
    I am trying to get a my Solaris 10x86 jumpstart rolling.
    I have created the images for the OS, but the only issue I have ahead is using a Linux box as a DHCP server for my X86 box to get the image.
    Is it possible to have a linux host that serves as a dhcp server to jumstart X86 host with Sol 10 x86
    or do I need to have a solaris host that runs DHCP service on it.
    Any advice on this issue.
    Thanks.

    Well, if you don't think the online Documentation helpful, then the better way is reading step-by-step instructions from a book. Get to local bookstore, i.e Barne&Nobles or Border or any big local bookstore, there should be pretty good book for Unix Administrator (Solaris version).
    If you have time and think you can memorize then, read on the spot; otherwise, buy the book for future reference.
    If that's not what you had in mind, then this link of free online book might help : http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/solaris8/chapter/ch04.html
    Normally, oreilly online bookstore offers free books to accredited universities, colleges, and organizations. However, if that option isn't for you, it might even offer free sample chapters that might just suit your needs.
    hoep it helps.

  • Solaris 10 SPARC DHCP Server causing disconnects every hour

    I am using Solaris 10 SPARC (Netra X1) as a router (DHCP/NAT)
    I'm running the built-in dhcp-server with the following in /etc/inet/dhcpsvc.conf
    DAEMON_ENABLED=TRUE
    RESOURCE=SUNWfiles
    RUN_MODE=server
    PATH=/var/dhcp
    CONVER=1
    HOSTS_RESOURCE=files
    ICMP_VERIFY=false
    INTERFACES=dmfe1
    LOGGING_FACILITY=1
    VERBOSE=TRUEI have made an entry for my MAC address
    # pntadm -P 192.168.1.0 | grep 192.168.1.218
    010026B9B29555  00      192.168.1.218   <MY IP>    Zero                            UNKNOWNHowever, if I rely on DHCP I get disconnected for a few seconds every hour exactly. All my SSH connections drop and I get disconnected from any IRC server I am on.
    If I set my client to a static IP this issue disappears, which leads me to believe it's DHCP who is the culprit here.
    Does anyone have any suggestions? From the pntadm output "Zero" should mean the lease never expires, right?
    Thanks

    A 64 bit VM is not necessarily faster than a 32 bit one. I remember at least on suggestion that it could be slower.
    Make sure you use the -server option.
    As a guess IBM isn't necessarily a slouch when it comes to Java. It might simply be that their VM was faster. Could have used a different dom library as well.
    Could be an environment problem of course.
    Profiling the application and the machine as well might provide information.

  • How to configure tape to sun solaris server?

    Hi
    We have a tape "Quantum Super DLT 600 tape drive" connected to Sun solaris 9 and working properly.
    Now we want to connect and configure it to Sun solaris 10 server. I want to know how we can do it?
    I checked in st.conf file , "#tape-config-list=" is commented in both solaris 9 while in solaris 10 it is not there.
    I think i will just have to connect the tape to new srver(solaris 10) and do a reconfiguration boot. Right??
    Also, what do i need to do for connecting the tape back to solaris 9 server.
    Thanks

    You really don't need to reboot the server. Connect the tape to the server and type devfsadm -Cv. Then type dmesg and check whether Solaris detect the tape or not.
    if not do a reboot and see.
    after doing one of above, insert a tape to the tape drive and type "mt stat" and see you got any output about a tape.
    Refer Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 System Administration Guides.

  • Do I have to disable DHCP in router and configure DHCP role in essential server to make connection with internet

    hi,
    'do I have to enable DHCP role on essential server just like sbs server to configure internet and domain name , or that is not really necessary , the router dhcp is enough toconfigure essential server!
    thanks

    The router DHCP is enough to use Essentials server. Essentials is designed to work with router dhcp out of the box, but you can choose to install DHCP role on server if you like. If you decide to do that, check the blog post from
    here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2013/04/22/running-dhcp-server-on-windows-server-2012-essentials.aspx
    Also check the Essentials documentation for more details from here:
