Configure Enterprise Manager in an Cluster Environment

Hi,
I have a Oracle Database 10g Enterprise configured in a Red Hat Cluster environment in an active/passive automatic failover topology.
I need to configure Enterprise Manager in this database.
Can anyone help wiht the steps to perform it. Can it be done with the 'emca' by just giving with some means the virtual IP address of the Oracle Service in the cluster.
Best Regard,
Drini

  • Configure Enterprise Manager with multiple Listener

    Configure Enterprise Manager with multiple Listener
    I have created 2 listeners and connected my database with both the listeners. If I stop one listener then it automatically uses second listener vice versa. But facing problem in case of enterprise manager. If i stop first listener which is on 1521 port it is not connecting to another listener which is on 1522 port.
    any help ?

    Your potential problem is Enterprise Manager simply doesn't KNOW about that second listener. You can easily verify that when you look at the monitored targets.
    Enterprise Manager also reconstructs automagically it's own tnsnames.ora! So, it doesn't connect to second -completely redundant and useless - listener, because the tnsnames.ora entry on the Management Sever is incorrect.
    Simply because you didn't made sure OEM could discover the second -completely redundant and useless- listener.
    I notice you apparently don't want to read documentation. Yet the only way to work successfully with Oracle, and to become independent, is to read that documention.
    Apart from that you should be able to find agentca.bat on your OS with one command, so, yes, I pointed you to the documentation, yes, you can find agentca.bat.

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager both node (2 node) RAC?

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 11g r2 rac with asm in two nodes. OS is hp-Unix.

    Both RAc and Active Data Guard works fine.

    I have configure Enterprise Manager during RAC database installation.
    When I start Enterprise Manager from node1 its address to node1

    When both node is up and running, I can connect from Enterprise Manager.
    When node2 is down but node1 is up then also I can connect from Enterprise Manager

  • Multiple OC4J instances missing in the Enterprise Manager for a cluster

    We have a cluster of 4 OAS instances installed on two Solaris 10 servers. When I login to the Oracle Enterprise Manager, I see only the Administration OC4J Instance. We had this issue earlier but it resolved by itself but this time the issue has been there for quite few days now. Need some help.
    Thanks.

    As I told you, this is a normal behavior, so there is no workarround, because it has to work fine later, but if you dont see any change tell me...
    How did you configure your Cluster?
    in a command line window, run the following in any of the node of your cluster
    opmnctl @cluster status
    it have to list all your components, this has to work on any of the nodes.
    Also in the opmn.xml check the tags for <topology> in the firsts lines, if you dont have this in the secondary nodes then the cluster may not be working.

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager Database Control (EMDC) to make it work on 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules

    Hello everybody i use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.
    In those cases i need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no RAC and no DG i perform the following steps:
    I Logon SQLPLUS as user SYS or SYSTEM, and drop the sysman account and management objects:
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT owner, synonym_name name
    FROM dba_synonyms
    WHERE table_owner = 'SYSMAN';
    BEGIN
    FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
    IF r1.owner = 'PUBLIC' THEN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM '||r1.name;
    ELSE
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP SYNONYM '||r1.owner||'.'||r1.name;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE;
    DROP ROLE mgmt_user;
    DROP USER sysman CASCADE;
    After that i run
    emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
    But what should i do in cases i have 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules?

    Hi ,
    It is not possible to monitor/administer a Logical or Physical Standby database, i.e Data Guard, using Enterprise Manager Database Control.  This is primarily due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor 1 database and a Data Guard environment, by definition, includes more than 1 database.
    If you attempt to run emca against a standby Database, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database not open).
    Database Control, can, of course, be used to monitor the current Primary database (with no ability to administer or monitor Data Guard related functionality).  In such a case, when failover occurs Database Control must be reconfigured to run on the new Primary database using the commands detailed in Note 278100.1 How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database, section C. Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, Option 2. Recreate the DB Control Configuration Files and Repository.
    Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control provides the functionality for viewing, monitoring, and administering primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.
    Reference: Is it Possible to Configure Database Control for a Logical or Physical Standby Database? (Doc ID 315116.1)
    You can use EM 12c cloud control to monitor and manager Standby DB effectively
    Ref to below link for details

  • Need to configure Enterprise Manager after Oracle 10g installed on Windows7

    I have installed Oracle 10g on Windows7 machine. At end of installation a error msg pop up saying "Enterprise Manager is not installed properly. You can install it using emca.bat file later".
    I then run emca.bat file. But EM was not installed yet.
    Any solution to install Enterprise Manager would be great.
    Thanks.

  • Configuring Enterprise Manager Reporting for Web

    Hi,
    I have successfully configured OEM reporting for web. But while accessing reports, its gives me the following error. See if you can help me:
    Error Message:
    No OMS location specified for the Servlet to connect to. Make sure that reporting has been successfully configured for this webserver.
    Regards,
    Aqueel.

    Was having the same problem. I even gave up many times. But was finally able to solve this issue. I reconfigured the websever using oemctl configure rws, startup the apache service of the host, stopped and started the OMS and the the reporting was good.
    Good luck

  • Enterprise Manager in secure environment with no internet access

    I have Oracle 11g installed in a secure isolated environment, which means there is limited access to the servers, and definitely no internet access from that environment.
    I am looking to configure Enterprise Manager / Database control.
    I can successfully start up the application server on my database server, and connect to this from a web browser within my secure environment.
    However when I try to display the Performance tab, nothing is displayed.
    I understand this screen uses an ActivX component.
    Is the use of the ActivX component going to have problems because my servers have no direct internet access, or should this not make any difference?
    Thanks
    Paul Graves

    No this is not going to make any difference.
    You don't need any internet connection at all for working with OEM GC.
    Maybe, if you want to configure the Patch Setup to receive Patch Adviories from My Oracle Support, but even then you can do without a connection from you server(s) to the internet.
    Asuming that you are using OEM GC 10.2.0.5, you will also be needing the installation of Flash Player and Adobe SVG Plugin, both to be installed in your browser.
    Kind regards
    Rob
