Configure Interface channel monitoring for PI in SOLMAN 7.1

Hi Experts,
I am configuring interface channel monitoring for PI in SOLMAN 7.1.In step 5 (Define scope) it is asking to select scenario.I can see all PI systems (Dev,QA and PRD) is listed in the table with "monitoring and alerting setup status" as yellow.when I select PI (prod) and proceed , in step 6.3 (Interface channel Monitoring config) I don't find any channel name in table.I need your support to clear my understanding on this.
1)My objective is to monitor all the interfaces that are existing between PI system and other SAP as well as non SAP systems (that include JDBC connections also). How can find all these interfaces in solman while doing Interface channel monitoring config?
2)I am not sure if I have understood correctly that I need to create scenario that includes technical systems between which Interface channel are to be monitored. If I am correct then how can I bring the technical system to SOLMAN SLD from Local SLD of PI(prod). Here I am not getting option to synchronize SOLMAN SLD from PI Local SLD. Even Import option is also not there. Do I need to create all the Technical systems (present in PI) to SOLMAN SLD manually?
If my understanding is not correct then please guide me through steps to do the configuration to achieve my objective.
Thanks
Aditya Roushan.

yes, the problem solved. thanks for your replies all.
the users SLDDSUSER and SLDAPIUSER got locked, I changed it in su01.
and I created rfc in SM59 for SAPSLDAPI and LCRSAPRFC and create the same in JCo RFC provider.
both are working.
but iam facing new problem.
I have solution manager 7.1 system and I configured local SLD. I did not connect any managed system as of now.
after all the trouble shooting, SLDAPICUST and SLDCHECK is fine but
the error is
"Functional call returned exception code 3"
"Access to XI Profile currently disrupted.
I have solution manager 7.1, I did not configure managed systems as of now. is this error belongs to solution manager 7.1 or for PI system.
can u please guide me how to trouble shoot this error. check the following screen shot for reference.
thanks in advance.

• Custom Adapter - No content in Communication channel Monitoring for JCA

HI,
We have developed a Custom Adapter for our client in XI with name JCA and it is working absolutely fine.
Issue: We are not getting any entries in Communication Channel Monitoring for success or Error Messages.
We have used Audit log for success or Failure entries and they are coming fine in Messaging System but there coule be a standard way to get entries in Channel Monitoring.
Our client needs the entries in CC monitoring instead of Customised Audit Logs.
Please help.

Anurag Garg

HI Satish,
Thanks for answer. I am looking for this in Custom Adpater not in adapter module.
This log creates a trace File . Its not to do with getting messages in CC monitoring as we do get for File Adapter or other Adapters.
Like- Message Successfully put into the queue.
- Successfully processed.
Such Messages are there in sample_ra. jar file code but they are not visible in CC Monitoring.
I think some extra code needs to be added to activate this in Monitoring.
Please suggest.

• Advice on audio interface and monitors for I-Mac

My setup is a basement studio. Mac pro, logic pro, Mackie control, motu 896, unitor 8 channel midi, line 6 pod xt pro, lexicon mx 400. Allen & heath board 16.2 wizard, Amps, Drums, Mics. The list goes on. Networked with my I-Mac in my office 2 floors up. So I copy My project folders to my I-Mac. Im very comfortable in my office so I thought I would do my final mix and master in my office. So my question is what would be a decent 2 channel audio interface no midi, and near field monitors maybe 3 to 4 feet away to mix and master. Reasonable. Thanks Bill

I'm quite impressed by Apogee Duet. 2-channel & no MIDI (still does provide some control function with its single knob) which sounds like it suits what you're looking for. Very simple & elegant design, the sound quality is supreme considering its cost.
Near field monitor of my choice is KRK V8's. Nice natural sounding set of monitors. In comparison to competitors at the price range, these sets 'breathe' & provide a bit more air in sound production without exaggerating any particular freq.
When it comes down to choosing monitor speakers, go to a local pro audio shop & try out a bunch so you can compare. Just remember to bring test CD that you know well what it should sound like.
Good luck!

• Configuring an external Monitor for Color Correction?

I currently have my Mac Book Pro 17in connected by the mini DV port and one USB port to a Mac 30" Cinema Display for editing on FCP7. I use it in a two monitor configuration with my Bin on the laptop screen and the FCP interface on the Cinema display. This works well for me.
I also have an external ESata drive via PCI slot. I would like to connect an external video monitor as well for quality checks and Color correction purposes. I am also looking for advice on what sort of external video monitor I should get and how would I connect it to the laptop or via some external third party device. I would be hoping to use a video monitor connected via a hdmi connection. Most of the work I do is supplied on drives, original material EX3 or Canon and some on HDV (Camera) that I ingest via Firewire800. Many thanks in advance.

Sorry Mark, you can't always have everything ... with the Matrox MXO2 (or similar, like Motu HDX-SDI) you wouldn't be able to use your eSATA drive at the same time as the I/O device as they both use the ExpressCard/34 port ... you would have to use a FW800 drive for your media instead. On the plus side the MXO2 includes a calibration tool which can help you calibrate your LCD/LED screen via HDMI for accurate color reproduction.
An alternative device would be the AJA IoHD (or perhaps Motu V4HD) which connects via FW800. It's a superb piece of kit but is costly and doesn't offer any calibration utility ... that said, a good quality plasma display, such as a Panasonic Pro Plasma, can be found relatively cheaply and many of these have built in picture controls suitable for getting an accurate calibration.
The future is much brighter for Mac laptop users with the introduction of the Thunderbolt connector on the latest MBP revisions. As with FireWire and ExpressCard, you can expect to see I/O devices, hard drives and monitors etc that will connect directly via that connection, greatly expanding the capabilities of a simple laptop setup.

• Payload not visible in cc monitoring for SOAP-RFC synchronous AAE scenario

Hello consultants,
I have a synchronous SOAP-RFC scenario over the AAE (Java only). When I test the service in WSNAVIGATOR the response message contains an error that results in the error message:
"<s:SystemError xmlns:s="http://sap.com/xi/WebService/xi2.0">
<context>XIAdapter</context>

ADAPTER.JAVA_EXCEPTION

<text>
java.io.IOException: Parsing Error: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed." the same errror is present in communication channel monitoring for the SOAP adapter.
The status in message monitoring however is succesful.
Is it possible to check the payload for the response message of the RFC call. In CC monitoring I cannot access the payload, it is not there. It does not have to be in cc monitoring, anywhere would be fine.
Since this is an AAE scenario there are no messages in SXMB_MONI.
All tips are appreciated.

• Adapter types & comm. channels missing in comm channel monitoring

Hello All,
We recently created a new sandbox XI system from a copy of our XI Test system
system. We used the SAPinst system copy process for ABAP+JAVA to create
this new XI sandbox system. We have followed all of the XI/PI post copy procedures listed in the system copy documentation and almost everything is working except when we going into the runtime workbench for XTX and go into communication channel monitoring for the adapter engine. When we get
here we do not see any adapter types where we should be seeing types such
as JDBC, BD, CIDX, FILE, JMS, etc We also do not see any communication channels in the communication channel monitoring if we select use filter to display all.
Any ideas?
Any help on this would be much appreciated
With regards
Steven

Hi,
First check in Integration Directory. Just create any dummy Communication Channel, if you are able to select your adapter for your communicatio channel then this is a cache issue. Just refresh the CPACache by this url.
http://<server name>:<HTTP Port>/CPACache/refresh?mode=full
Else you are not able to select any adapter for your communication channel then you have forgot to import the SAP BASIS Software Component Version into Integration Repository.
You can find it from your installation DVD's, and if you are not able to find then you can download it from service market place as given below..
[Click on this URL|https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=SEARCH&HIDE=&SEARCH_SPAT=X&SEARCH_BPAT=X&SEARCH_CD=X&SEARCH_P=X&SEARCH_PV=X&SEARCH_C=X&SEARCH_CV=X&SEARCH_TA=&SEARCH_V=&HIDE_EXPERT_SEARCH=X&SEARCH_MAX_RESULT=20]
In Search Term Enter SAP BASIS 7 or 3.
Now click on XI CONTENT SAP_BASIS 7.00 (if u r using PI else select SAP_BASIS 3.0) -
>
Database independent -
> SAPBASISxxxxx-0888.ZIP (this file should be based on your SP level)
Just save this file on your machine and unzip it.
Now put this in the import directory: \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import\
Now login to Integration Repository and from menu TOOLS ---> Import design objects and import it.

• SCOM 2012 SP1 Cisco Interface/Port Monitoring

Hey.
We are trying to finish our parallel rollout of SCOM 2012 (previously used 2007 R2 with xSNMP) and have ran into a snag with a port that goes to a T3 connecting two of our offices.
The device is a Cisco 7206 router (listed as Certified in the
latest lists). SCOM sees the port and labels it IF-47 (stupidly) during discovery and rediscovery, but won't apply any type of performance monitoring on it. I could create the override to enable one but the only monitors it shows are three rollups (High
Discard, High Error, and High Queue Drop percentages). We need to be able to monitor utilization like any other port on the router. Ironically, SCOM has added these monitors for disabled (admin-down) ports.
We have the other endpoint router in SCOM and have added the interface/port to the "Critical Network Adapters Group" but that only seems to monitor availability (up or down). So besides creating my own SNMP monitors from the Cisco OIDs needed, anyone
know of a way to get this interface/port monitored for performance (i.e. utilization)?
One peculiarity, if I look at the monitors between this interface/port and another that has the perf monitors this one has "Network Adapter (Common)" whereas the one with the perf monitors shows "netcor cisco" of multiple fashions.
thanks!

Hi,
Some monitors are disabled by default. For details about the monitors, please see the section “Tuning Alerts for Network Monitoring” in the following document:

• "Channel started but inactive" in RWB Monitor for SOAP sender channel

Dear XI specialists,
I have configured a communication scenario involving SOAP Adapter (sender) usage, but I'm facing the issue when testing the scenario. The problem is that none of messages are coming into the SOAP Adapter (checked via TCode SXI_MONITOR in XI) when using 3rd party SOAP-clients (XML Spy, soapUI) based on WSDL-file generated and exported from XI.
I checked the sender communication channel for SOAP Adapter - it is activated in Integration Builder's Directory. SOAP Adapter itself is also started.
I checked Runtime Workbench monitors and in the Communication Channels Monitor of the Components Monitor received the warning saying "Channel started but inactive" for my configured channel as well as for other channels working on SOAP Adapter.
Activities which were performed (in the order in which they were performed and results tested):
1. the configuration channel restart;
2. the communication channel re-activation and further re-start;
3. SOAP Adapter restart;
4. XI system's Java instance restart.
All mentioned activities didn't give any positive effect in part of this issue resolution.
On the other hand, if I use test message functionality of the Runtime Workbench (Component Monitor), then messages are seen in SXI_MONITOR and expected response messages are also returned to XI from integrated business system.
Would you please advise what can be checked else here and where the root of the problem may be detected?
All your answers and feedback will be greatly appreciated and awarded accordingly.
Many thanks in advance and my regards,
Vadim

Dear all,
Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, the problem still exists after testings and checkings which you suggested.
TO Seshagiri:
I checked message monitor and found only several messages for the required sender/receiver services pair in the used namespace - all of them were successfully processed (these are messages which I sent by means of RWB Component Monitor's test message functionality).
TO Sarvesh:
Yes, sender agreement is configured properly. I configured it when configuring communication scenario in the Configuration Wizard and then manually re-checked its definition. Moreover, when performing Test Configuration in ID, I received positive results.
TO Nallam Guna:
I cleared Data Cache in Integration Builder, but this didn't help.
TO Gujjeti:
I'm on SAP NetWeaver 2004s PI 7.0. Service Pack level for PI is 13.
TO Durga:
Thank you for provided links! I have already had a look at them - but proposed solutions doesn't seem to be working in my situation.
Thank you all once again for your prompt answers! I really appreciate your attempts in helping me!
I would appreciate if you could share any further ideas on this issue.
My best regards,
Vadim

• Recommend Performance monitor for interface

Hi,
I am configuring my network monitoring application to monitor my Cisco Routers and I am looking for recommended (best practice) thresh hold values for following the interface parameters (Ethernet interface):
Bandwidth Utilization (%)
Error rate (%)
Package discarded (%)
Any help, documents or advice would be appreciated
Regards,
Screech

Here is my 2 cents
Don't think there is a one size fits all
Trunks and other connection between network devices
Bandwidth Utilization 60% on full duplex 40% on half
Error rate 0
Package discarded 0
These interface should be absolutely clean, and you beter check Transmit load and Receive Load rather then Utilization
Userports
Bandwidth Utilization 60% on full duplex 40% on half
Error rate 5
Package discarded 5
Server ports
Bandwidth Utilization 60% on full duplex 40% on half
Error rate 1
Package discarded 1
I would say it is pointless to poll and monitor all ports for bandwith utilisation all the time.
Using rmon or something else to set (a couple of) thresholds and monitor that is a much better idea
Not sure about a tool that could used for that however.
Cheers
Michel

• What should be configured as channel in Oracle CEP HTTP adapter for remote publishing?

Hi,
Below is the adapter configuration that I have for Oracle CEP HTTP adapter for remote publishing. What exactly should be configured in
here? In the oracle documentation example, it only says /channel2 as an example.
Below is the HTTP adapter configuration file that I have created.

<wlevs:config xmlns:wlevs="http://www.bea.com/ns/wlevs/config/application">
<http-pub-sub-adapter>

<server-url>http://localhost:8080/RESTfulWS/rest/UserInfoService/post/jsonstream</server-url>

/RESTfulWS

<event-type>com.wipro.event.ResultEvent1</event-type>
</http-pub-sub-adapter>
</wlevs:config>
'/RESTfulWS' in my above configuration is the context-root of my rest service. But this is not working so I would like someone to help me understand this configuration.
Many thanks.
Regards
Sowmya

Hi, Sowmya,
From your configuration
Is the http://localhost:8080/RESTfulWS/rest/UserInfoService/post/jsonstream httppubsub server? I don't think the oep http pub adapter can publish event to rest service.
For http pub adapter, you can take a look at fx sample, it publishes events to a embedded http pub/sub server of oep.
Thanks,
Gala
