Getting error in configuring Sybase with OBIEE

hi,
I am new to OBIEE and we are preparing a POC where we want to show OBIEE capabilities.
for this I want to generate report based on data from SyBase database.
what i have done -----> I am able to create DataModel
problem i am facing -------> I am not able to create DataSet as the querry which query builder is suggesting is not compatible to SyBase syntax.
could u please help to resolve the issue
I faced the same problem while configuring with MySql Database where i changed the auto generated query with my query which i am able to run in MySql prompt, tried on same line but its not working for Sybase.
error giving as
STKSY not found. Specify owner.objectname or use sp_help to check whether the object exists (sp_help may produce lots of output).
where stksy is my table also tried with owner.objectname but not working :(

Try using database.owner.object_name
The default value for database is the current database and the default value for owner is the current user. Remember that the owner is part of the object name and it is therefore possible for two different users to have two different tables with the same object_name in the same database, for example, user1.test and user2.test.
Also the database name should not be quoted, other (owner, table) can be quoted.

Logon Error! when connecting Smartview 11.1.2.2 with OBIEE 11.1.1.7.

I get "Logon Error !" when I connect to OBIEE 11.1.1.7 from Smartview using the URL: http://servername:7001/analytics/jbips
Has anyone else encountered similar problem with Smartview on OBIEE 11.1.1.7? Appreciate if you could share the solution if you managed to resolve this issue.
Below is my environment and error details:
I installed OBIEE 11.1.1.7 (Simple Install) which I downloaded from OTN on Windows 2008 Server R2. I have the default SampleApp Lite application up and running.
I downloaded the BI Desktop Tool - Smartview for MS Office from the BI Homepage and installed Smartview on my Excel 2007 (32 bit) - The version I see on Smartview About menu is: 11.1.2.2.310 (Build 247).
When I Login using system id (weblogic) and password, I get "Login Error" & I get the below stacktrace weblogic console (of course, I am able to login to BI using browser, using with the same credentials):

Hi,
I even hit at this error and found one option to make it work. There is another installer called jbips.msi in <Smartview Installation dir>\install\ which needs to be run. Once you run this, try creating a connection to OBIPS and it should work. I could also see another menu called "Oracle BI EE" in my excel, once I have it.

does Oracle offer a pre-configured Virtual Machine with OBIEE 11g? I found an old Virtual Box Image with 10.2..., but nothin newer.

Modifying the configuration files in OBIEE 11g

We are facing an error when we tried to to add "<DashboardMaxBeforeMenu>" tag in the instanceconfig.xml manually and restart the presentation services of OBIEE 11g .
I had come across few suggestions that, configuration files in OBIEE 11g cannot be modified manually. I am doubtful on these suggestions . So please, let me know for sure wether we can modify the configuration files in OBIEE 11g manually or not.
It will be very helpful if the process to modify the configuration files in OBIEE 11g is shared with us.

I could not tell you whether the; <DashboardMaxBeforeMenu>10</DashboardMaxBeforeMenu> still works in 11g.
What I do know is that you could manually edit the configuration files. The only thing is when you modify this file via the Enterprise Manager, your customizations get lost. You have to manually add them again.

Connecting SQL Analysis Services 2005 cube with obiee 10g

I'm trying to link an SQL Analysis Services 2005 cube with obiee 10g.
In Oracle BI Administration, when I choose File -> Import -> From
Multi-dimensional, I have to fill the next gaps:
Provider Type: Analysis Services 2005
URL: ***********
User: blank
Password: blank
Before to do that, I need to create the URL path.
To create the URL, I have followed this link.

But, it hasn't worked because when I was trying to configure the HTTP
access to SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, we have to perform a test to ensure that it has been well configured. In IIS -> WebSites -> Default WebSites -> olap, we should browse the document called "msmdpump.dll" and this should show an xml document, but it doesn't.

Hi Alex
It sounds like your MS data pump might not be configured correctly. First ensure that is working before trying to put the values into OBIEE. Don't worry about the 500 error - I get that too instead of an XML page.

Integrating BPM default reports with OBIEE

Can we integrate ORACLE BPM with OBIEE reports? if yes How ?
Here is my scenario, in oracle BPM we have 4 reports unattended task reports,task priority report,task cycle time report... , We need all these reports should execute from OBIEE

Integrate Planning Security with OBIEE

We have defined a lot of groups in shared services and use them to control access in planning and sv. Is there any way to integratre these groups with OBIEE as we would like to use the same groups to secure obiee reports.

Oracle IRM integration with OBIEE

The IRM integration with Beehive was developed by and is maintained by the Beehive team, you may be able to get more help on the Beehive forums (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=180). In the meantime I'll try to answer your query to the best of my knowledge.
The ClassificationId can be can be any text that you wish to use to identify the beehive classification e.g. Beehive Classification ID.
The ClassificationLabelName should be used to identify the Beehive classification to the user, it will be displayed in the IRM user interfaces in places such as the information bar.
The ClassificationSystemID and KeySetUUID values should each be set to their own UUID. You can generate one on linux using uuidgen.
The DesktopSyncURI and the DesktopURI values should be set to the IRM classification url e.g. https://irm.example.com:16101/irm_desktop.
The IrmDesktopServiceEndPoint should be set to the IRM server url followed by /irm_sealing/desktop_services e.g. https://irm.example.com:16101/irm_sealing/desktop_services.
The IrmSealingServiceEndPoint should be set to the IRM server url followed by /irm_sealing/sealing_services e.g. https://irm.example.com:16101/irm_sealing/sealing_services.
The IrmUserName should be a valid user that can log into IRM and Beehive
The IrmUserPassword should be the password for the above account
The other values can be left blank.
The ClassificationServices error from IRM is likely to be related to the xml file in the classification plug-in jar file. The most frequent causes of those have been where XML editors have reformatted the example configuration changing things like

The fussy XML parser then refuses to parse the UUID properly because of the surrounding whitespace. This is most likely to be a problem with fields that take UUIDs, so probably just worth checking those first.

Integrate OLAP with OBIEE

Hi,
I'm trying to integrate OLAP with OBIEE, so in that process i'm using OLAP cubes created using AWM(Analytical Workspace Manager) in OBIEE. Using the cube, created the repository file as explained in the following link of Oracle site.

I have followed exactly the same steps in creating the cube and repository file. But my problem is when i'm trying to run the requests in BI Answers, those are taking long time to give the results. I tried in different ways by making small changes in cube and repository file but no progress. I read in many of discussion forums and whitepapers that MOLAP Cubes give 10 times greater performance compared with normal tables for data retrieval, but in my case its not happening.
I want to know whether any tweaks need to be performed at the Memory side or in the design process to get rid of my problem. Please let me know if any one of you tried integrating OLAP with OBIEE.

In BI EE you must map an additional top level, even for year (All Years) to force BI EE to pass a LIMIT statement to the AW even if the dimension is not included in the query. Otherwise, all values for that dimension will be returned to BI EE and this will cause a huge performance bottleneck.
You can test the performance in two ways:
1) In AWM use the OLAP Worksheet and execute a limit command for each dimension that would use in your BI EE query. Then issue an RPR command to view the data and check the performance. Obviously you will want to limit the amount of data. Don't try to return the whole cube as this does not make any sense.
The RPR command will replicate the level of performance you can expect in BI EE.
2) Using SQLPlus create a SQL statment to return data from the relational view over the AW. Make sure specify a where clause statement for each and every dimension. If you fail to use a where clause for a dimension every single value for that dimension will be returned.
There are specific OLAP init.ora settings you should review and modify according to your server configuration. These are all documented in the OLAP installation document. Make sure you have read this carefully.
If performance is still not meeting your expectations then trace the SQL being generated and look at the wait events to determine where the bottleneck is within your system.

enter the URL where your BI is hosted eg: "servername.domain.net:9704/analytics"

Google Chrome/Apple Safari Browser Issues with OBIEE

We are having issues rendering images, charts and dashboards in Google Chrome and Apple Safari. Everything is working correctly in IE and Fire Fox.
We are on OBIEE version 10.1.3.3.1 running on Solaris 10 and Oracle DB Version 10g.
I understand that these browsers are not supported, but I have seen several screenshots and threads with OBIEE being accessed with Chrome and Safari.
Has anyone run into this issue before and over come it? Are any configuration changes needed in order to make this work?

Sorry to chime after a long time, but I am having this issue as well. When i look in the webserver logs (iPlanet 7) I see that OBIEE is trying render images but appending "Missing_" to them. This only happens with Chrome and Safari. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any EPM specific demo environments that are open to connections. You could download the 11.1.1.7.1 OBI Sample App and include the EPM instance - and then connect to this instance of EPM.
