Confusion on WRT54GL Version

Hi,
Before I upgrade the firmware in my Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router, (checking the bottom of the router I see I have Version 1.1), I want to clear up a little confusion from Linksys website.
When I go to Linksys's "download" page for my WRT54GL router, in the dropdown box which says "Please select version," only Version 1.0 is mentioned; no other version is mentioned.
Since I have Version 1.1 of this router, I am wondering if I bought a version which is not for the United States. That's the only explanation I can think of for why Linksys "download" web page for this model, in the drop down list, does not mention Version 1.1.
If Ver. 1.1 IS for US consumption and further, if there is no difference in the firmware (or User Guide) between V1.0 and V1.1 of this model router, then shouldn't the single choice offered when one clicks on the drop down arrow on this particular "download" web page, more accurately say:
"version 1.0 AND version 1.1"
The omission of Ver 1.1 from the version list is disquieting.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts. Nella

Infinityx,
Thanks for your thoughts. I upgraded the firmware last night and all is well.
It would be good if the Linksys webmaster added version 1.1 to the drop down menu, in addition to version 1.0, even though the firmware updates are exactly the same for both. Presumably, someone from Linksys monitors this forum. Just my 2 cents.
Again, I appreciate your advice. Nella

  • Original firmware for WRT54GL Version 1.1

It appears that there is no firmware I can download for my WRT54GL Version 1.1. While it may never have been updated from what the router came with from the factory, it would still be useful to have it available. In my case, I would like to revert the router from the DD-WRT firmware to factory specs.
Any suggestions for what I could do?
    Dominik Hoffmann

Go to the United Kingdom version of the site where it will show a firmware download for v1.1.
Who knows why it doesn't list for the US.

  • GTX 580 Twin Frozr II O/C - confused by bios version number, and how to flash

Hi, my first post here. But I've been reading a bit here. Still, I get confused by this whole vga bios thing, version numbers and how to flash... Ok, so here's my situation:
I have two PC's. Both with one MSI Twin Frozr II O/C GTX 580 card inside. It seems to me that both are working according to specifications, GPU-Z reports:
GPU clock 800 Mhz, Memory 1024 Mhz, Shader 1600 Mhz for the borth of them.
Now, one of them seems not to be totally stable (this is the newest I bought a few days ago). It locks up/crashes in some games. The other seems ok, I've been having that one for a while. Could this be a GPU core voltage problem? GPU-Z reports for the both of them:
    VDDC 0.955 v
I've tried running MSI afterburner, changing core voltage to 1025, and in afterburner settings enable "Force constant voltage". Still, GPU-Z, which I keep running at the same time, still reports only 0.955. I thought this setting in Afterburner would change voltage to 1.025?  This situation is for both the old one and the new one.
    Now to the Bios "problem".
The newest card (the not so stable one) reports through GPU-Z: Bios Version 70.10.20.00.01
The oldest (stable) card: Bios Version 70.10.17.00.01
So... which one has the newest bios? Seems to me it is the newest card.
BUT - when running MSI Live Update 5 (newest version) it says for both the cards that they have the the newest bios version, and there's no need to upgrade??
SO - I go to the MSI webpage: http://no.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-Twin-Frozr-II-OC.html#?div=BIOS  to download the newest bios manually, just in case.. But there it gets more confusing. The Bios version found there is :NV255MS.104(.zip).
And also, on that page I can not find how to use that file. Extracting it just gives me the file NV255MS.104    and no extension.
So, which bios is the newest one? 70.10.20.00.01  (the highest number, in the new card, but not stable in some games), 70.10.17.00.01 (in my old card, but seems stable in the games I've tried), or NV255.104  (which I don't know how to use).
I've flashed my main board bios many times over the years in various set ups, the bios on two different SSD disks and so on.. never had a problem with that, or finding out if I have the correct bios, how to do it and so on.
Maybe I'm stupid, but this MSI Twin Frozr II O/C GTX 580 bios thing confuses me a lot... So, how do I solve this situation?

I am also interested in the answer as I have 2 MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC cards. I can find the latest BIOS file "NV801MS.KG4.zip" and know the version is "KG4". But how do you relate this to the current BIOS version Afterburner or GPU-Z provides? The version they each provide is "70.10.17.00.01" for both cards. The only other way to determine if they are up to date is to install and run MSI Live Update. MSI Live Update responds that they are up to date with no current version or online version information on the Live Update tab. At least the information on the Home tab states the same VGA BIOS version as GPU-Z and Afterburner. I can can only assume that the BIOS is updated by using MSI Live Update.
Also just for the additional information GPU-Z displays my VDDC as 1.039 briefly then 0.995 constantly when switching between cards. I actually have the cards set to 1.050 with Afterburner to be stable when running Crysis 2 DX11 updates.

  • [Athlon64] Confused about BIOS versions

I'm looking to upgrade my BIOS - but since the layout change in the BIOS download section, I'm confused.
    1) What's the difference between Award and AMI BIOS'?
    2) Am I to use an Award or AMI BIOS for my board?
    3) Under the AMI BIOS's (the only ones available for my board), the Special Note says that versions 1.x and 2.x don't work with the K8T Neo-F. I'm using an earlier version - does this include my board?
    Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

You install an AMI bios as a motherboard only had one bios type and yours is AMI.
See: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=496&kind=1 for latest bios update. The latest is up the top of the list.
Don't know what the red means though so someone needs to clarify that for you.

  • Confused with DPS versions?

Being a creative cloud subscriber, I have the ability to build sinlge edition apps with DPS, but I am very confused as to what this means.
I have a publication which we want to get on the iTunes store. It is one publication which will have multiple issues going forward (one a month). With the single edition version of DPS, will I be able to submit additional issues to my app or does every issue have to be it's own app? Furthermore, will I be able to require readers to subscribe to read the publication?
It would seem completely illogical to me to not let an app update with future issues of a publication and I really hope this isn't the case.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

You can set up an account at digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/welcome/ using whatever email/username/password the client would like.  When firing up DPS, you login to the Folio Builder using those credentials then build your folio accordingly.
For the next client, repeat the process using a different email/username/password.
I would also recommend having your own acrobat.com account for testing purposes then, when the folio is complete and good to go, just recreate the entire folio in the proper client account.
I'd definitely get with the client and see how they'd like to proceed.  Contrary to other advice, with using the Adobe Content Viewer method the size of your viewship is meaningless.  Doesn't matter if there's 10 or 1000 people logging in and using the folio via the Content Viewer - it works the same way. There's no download or signup limit that I'm aware of.. With an Enterprise account, there's a far greater level of control and security that a corporation would appreciate - including distribution.  If there's an enterprise account, the IT group can set up provisional profiles that go out to pre-approved devices (iPad, iPhone, Android), and then the users can download.  Much better control and I believe that IT could also immediately revoke permissions if necessary.  With the Content Viewer method, once it's out there...it's out there.  No way to pull it from individual devices.  You'd have to delete the entire folio in the Builder...but then everyone loses it the next time they login to the Content Viewer app.

  • VB6 - Confusion regarding Acrobat Version and supported methods

I've got an app, created in VB6, that uses the javascript method "addWatermarkFromFile".  It works fine on my machine(s) with Acrobat 7 and 9.0.  One of the machines that it has been installed on gets an "Object doesn't support this property or method" error.  The machine has had several version of Acrobat on it in the past, but is now running 9.4.1.  I added a chunk of code to create the AcroExch app and Show it, and the user reports that it launches Acrobat 9.4.1, so I know it's creating an app that should support "addWatermarkFromFile".  Is there anything else I can check?  I don't know much about the OLE mechanisms.  Could a stray acrobat.tlb file cause something like that?

After further review the problem was NOT related to addWatermarkFromFile, but rather was caused when the app called a javascript function that was implemented by the placement of a .js file in the Javascripts directory.  The user is now, inconveniently, on vacation, but I'm guessing either the script is not being created (unlikely) or that Javascript (or some portion of the javascript functionality) is disabled.

  • Confusion on oracle version

I Have already test the connection using ms-sql(MSDE) and my-sql it work fine
now i want to test the same thing on oracle engine so which version oracle i can use for this purpose as i see many version of oracle expreee, lite and enterprise and so on..
i want to test for multi user from 1-5 is enough.. and database size dosent matter as long as i can test for a few thousand records...
yesterday i download oralce express and install it.. but i dont any tool for me to manage the object in the database.. do i have to do it all using sql statement cause for msde and mysql there have a free tools that can be used to manage the database (GUI) .
    any suggestion or solution
    thanks

Hi Jalil. From your description I think that Oracle Database Express will do for you. There is the SQL Command Line, as you have discovered. There is also a graphical user interface built into the database itself, that you can access from any browser. From your desktop (on the machine where you installed Oracle Express), click on the Icon called Go To Database Homepage. Once the home page has launched in your Browser, logon and click on the button called Object Browser. Here you can create tables, indexes, stored procedures etc.
You can see how to do this using the online help. As you are new to Oracle, you may also want to check out the online tutorial at http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm
Documentation for XE is also available at http://www.oracle.com/pls/xe102/portal.all_books

  • Confused by multiple versions of Creative Cloud apps

I now have Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC (2014), Muse CC, and Muse CC 2014 installed on my machine and listed in my creative cloud applet. The Creative Cloud applet says they are all up to date. I am presuming that the versions with (2014) appended to the names are the latest versions. So can I safely remove Photoshop CC and Muse CC without any issues? Also I am curious why when the updated apps became available the Creative Cloud applet did not upgrade over the old ones instead left me with two versions.

I am having a problem on yahoo I believe is JRE related. I have JRE6 install but people keep refering to JRE5 update 11 as the current update. Am I using the wrong program? Yahoo games online is not loading properly, all cache has been cleared.

  • WRT54GL version 1.1 - upgrade firmware from 4.30.7 to DD-WRT

I am looking for instructions for firmware upgrade. Your input is appreciated.

Well, I guess first thing you need to do is download the firmware for your WRT54GL. Then on upgrading, you could try to access the configuration page of the router, click on  Administration Tab and then on the sub tab, click on Firmware Upgrade. So then, you could browse for the file that you have downloaded and then upgrade...
I gues, that's all you need to do...

  • Confused with Java versioning

    Hi All,
I have downloaded JDK 5.0 update 22 from the following url:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp
when the executable file gets downloaded it?s name is ?jdk-1_5_0_22-windows-i586-p?, which is fine, but the question is that when I give the following command:
    C:\Documents and Settings\User1>javac ?versionI get
javac 1.5.0_22and when I give the command:
    C:\Documents and Settings\User1>java ?versionI get
    java version "1.5.0_22"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_22-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_22-b03, mixed mode, sharing)Does it mean that JDK 5.0 come with JRE 1.5.0?
Does it mean that I am using Java 5 or Java 1.5?
Any help that will clear this doubt, will be much appreciated.
    Thanx.

In Finder I do a search for Flash. In my Applications folder is flashplayer Macromedia version 7.1 r14.

At the Adobe website it tells me I have 10,0,22,87.

  • Live Update confused about versions installed?

I have a MSI Neo4 Platinum and first I installed the Marvell LAN Drivers via Live Update (Version 7.14.1.3). This driver did however seem to be very unstable (the network connection dropped after a few minutes of use), so I went to Windows Update and picked the Marvell Driver there. It shows up under the Driver Tab as version 7.29.4.3". This driver seems very stable and my dropped connection problem is gone. I had this problem on two different installations of this board.
When I now run Live Driver, it incorrectly reports that my current version is 7.14.1.3 (not 7.29.4.3). It is obviously confused about shich version I'm running.
    Anyone else seen this problem?

    olavt,
Do not bother with Live Update. If you want to update anything, do it manually. Also for Mobo Drivers, usenVidia nForce Drivers

  • Differentiating between versions of applications with identical names

I am in a situation where I have both Microsoft Office 2004 and Microsoft Office 2008 installed (and working OK) on my work computer (1.42GHz eMac, 2GB RAM, OS X 10.5.8). When needing to use Microsoft Excel I use either version, although Excel 2008 is noticeably slower on many tasks. This speed difference is the reason I am trying to achieve what I have described below.
I have written a script which, after processing/editing/cleaning up a .csv file using AppleScript, saves the results to a tab-delimited text file, opens it in Excel 2004 and does some sorting. So far (after much internet-searching and experimentation), everything works according to plan, consistently and reliably.
In the script, I have been able to differentiate between *Microsoft Excel* (in the Microsoft Office 2004 folder) and *Microsoft Excel* (in the Microsoft Office 2008 folder) and the script successfully opens the file using Excel 2004. The following lines accomplish this (I have omitted some extra code which similarly checks for Excel 2008 and does some error-prevention - what is here is the important stuff. I have tried the script with and without the omitted code and it runs the same for the purposes of this post):
    +tell application "Finder"+
+set TargetFile to (path to desktop folder as string) & "ResultsFile.txt"+
+if exists (application file "Microsoft Excel" of folder "Microsoft Office 2004" of folder "Applications" of startup disk) then+
+set VersionToUse to (application file "Microsoft Excel" of folder "Microsoft Office 2004" of folder "Applications" of startup disk)+
    +end if+
    +open TargetFile using VersionToUse+
    +end tell+
No problems so far. The document is open in Excel 2004, waiting for AppleScript commands to be issued.
(On a computer with only Office 2004 installed, the following paragraph does not apply because there is only one version of Excel - I have been able to issue commands for selection, sorting, etc. with no worries. The problem is when there are two versions of Excel on the same hard disk.)
However, as soon as I use a tell block starting with *tell application "Microsoft Excel"*, Excel 2008 opens up. Even if Excel 2004 is already open, double-clicking Excel files in Finder will open Excel 2008. I have been looking for ways of uniquely identifying the version which has opened the document so that I can issue commands within that, but to no avail. If both versions of Excel are running at the same time, System Events gives the name of both as "Microsoft Excel". In Finder, I could change the name of one from "Microsoft Excel" to "Microsoft Excel 2004" and the other to "Microsoft Excel 2008", but I am trying to avoid that if possible. I'm not sure of what unwanted side-effects could result.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to issue commands within the running version without the other, identically-named, version activating itself? Possibly, the method I used to identify the wanted version (setting the variable VersionToUse to the pathway) is not the best way, but I am unable to figure out another way without the other version being opened instead. I would prefer to keep away from shell scripts unless there is no other way, as I am nowhere near as comfortable with shell scripts as I am with normal AppleScript. I have not yet tried setting the default application to Excel 2004 using the Get Info command in Finder (don't know if that will work consistently, as the OS seems to want to use the later version of an application if more than one is available), and I'm trying to make the script portable so that it could work on another computer which has both versions of Office installed without changing any of that computer's settings. However, if that change (so that *tell application "Microsoft Excel"* applies to Excel 2004 instead of Excel 2008) could be effected using AppleScript and then reverted to original settings once the script finished, that might be the simplest way to do it.

Thank you both for taking time to reply. I have tried your suggestions, but unfortunately they did not bring me any closer to what I am trying to achieve.
Taylor.henderson - yours did not work as hoped, most likely because AppleScript will only accept just the name of the application when it is being set to a variable. The full pathway, which would solve the confusion about which version of an application to use, seems to be rejected by AppleScript (maybe it is simply not expecting a pathway and does not know what to do with the extra information). The idea is great but unhappily it didn't work.
Hiroto - when run on the Mac at work (G4 eMac, 1.42 GHz, OS X 10.5.8), your script gave the following results:
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel"+
    +path to current application+
    +«event ascrgdut»+
    +path to current application+
    +alias "MacintoshHD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2008:Microsoft Excel.app:"+
    +end tell+
When run on my Mac at home (DP 1.25 GHz G4, OS X 10.4.11), it hung AppleScript with the only way out being to force quit. Again, the idea is good but it unhappily also didn't work.
After a lot more experimenting with both Excel and System Events, I acknowledged that I had come to a dead end. Then I re-read my original post and decided to try what I wanted to avoid - renaming the applications in Finder, although I had to log in as root to do so. After renaming "Microsoft Excel" in the Microsoft Office 2004 folder to "Microsoft Excel 2004", I ran that to see if it still worked. No problems so far. Then I told AppleScript to get the application process names using System Events. I had expected it to return "Microsoft Excel", but to my surprise it actually returned "Microsoft Excel 2004" as the name of the application process. When likewise renaming the 2008 version its application process did actually return just as "Microsoft Excel". I'm not sure why, but as long as they are different it enables me to address/refer to each one without confusion. Possibly because, at least on my home machine Excel 2008, when right-clicked on, gives the option to show package contents. Inside the folder which opens, and then inside Contents > MacOS is the Unix executable file. Excel 2004 does not display "show package contents" (probably PPC only). I tried renaming the Excel 2008 Unix executable file from "Microsoft Excel" to "Microsoft Excel 2008", but that really confused the computer. The name of that file is probably hard-coded and the file does not get recognized if its name is different. So I left the 2008 version completely alone.
The earlier version of my script had actually been able to open the chosen document in the desired version of Excel. The problem which I could not solve was how to prevent the other version of Excel from opening when using "tell application Microsoft Excel" in the script ("tell application Microsoft Excel" was needed before issuing any commands such as selecting, sorting, etc.). It looks like the renaming of the application and the consequent renaming of the application process did the trick. Hopefully changing the name of an application, as it appears in Finder, is not going to cause any problems. So far, it appears that nothing has gone wrong.
Just as an afterthought, to prove to myself that the problem was solved (at least sufficiently for me to do what I wanted) I ran the following script to see if having both versions of Excel running was going to cause any problems. The two larger blocks in the middle do the same thing - switching back and forth between the two versions of Excel - but one uses System Events and the other addresses each application individually. The delays are there to give each action time to finish happening before the next one occurs.
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel 2004"+
    open
    +end tell+
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel"+
    open
    +end tell+
    +delay 6+
    +tell application "System Events"+
    +repeat with Counter1 from 1 to 5+
    +delay 1+
+set frontmost of application process "Microsoft Excel 2004" to true+
    +delay 1+
+set frontmost of application process "Microsoft Excel" to true+
    +end repeat+
    +end tell+
    +repeat with Counter2 from 1 to 5+
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel 2004"+
    activate
    +end tell+
    +delay 1+
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel"+
    activate
    +end tell+
    +delay 1+
    +end repeat+
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel 2004"+
    quit
    +end tell+
    +tell application "Microsoft Excel"+
    quit
    +end tell+
Thank you both once again for taking the time and effort to contribute. Even though your suggestions did not give the results hoped for (in fact it might not even be possible to do it with AppleScript), I appreciate your efforts as I always try to learn from other people's ideas and ways of doing things.
