Connect iMac 24" with a Surfborad 4101

How do I should connect my new imac 24" with the SURFboard 4101 that I already use with a PC?
Many thanks for your kind support

First of all, thanks for your reply.
Secondly, finally I sort it out, but now I want to make a new design of the network. I explain it:
1. I have two iMac (20" and 24") CONNECTED WITH AN airport express.
2. I have set up a VMware Fusion with Windows 2000 profesional inside one of the iMac 24".
3. The Virtual server use the USB connection to link with the cable modem of Motorola.
(All of this is because the cable router ethernet port is broken and my wonderful cable supplier is not comming to replace it since many many many months)
FACTS:
1. I've been able to connect the Windows virtual machine to internet and the host of the virtual machine.
PROBLEM
a, all the rest of the network (connected through the airport express) cannot be connected to Internet but can see the inside network (the other imac)
Do you have any idea ?
Many thanks

  • Can't connect iMac/Leopard with Mac Mini/Tiger and vice versa

This one has got me tearing my hair out.
I have an Intel iMac running Leopard and a Mac Mini running Tiger on the same Ethernet network. Both run (adjacent) fixed IP addresses with common subnet mask and gateway. Both access the Internet fine through a single router. But can I share files between the two?
Neither has firewall turned on while file sharing is enabled. I can see each Mac from the other but when I try connecting first I get 'The server may not exist or is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again.' Then on clicking OK I get 'This file server is running on your machine. Please access the volumes and files locally.'
If I try connecting from Finder using Go - Connect To Server I get this error message 'The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "afp://MacMininame" could not be read or written.'
Although I'm running Leopard on the iMac now, this also used to happen when I ran Tiger too.
    Many thanks - GeoffT.

    Fixed it!
I have Parallels installed on the iMac and it creates two virtual network adapters (Guest-Host and NAT) in System Preferences/Network. For some reason I'd foolishly contrived to manually configure the Nat adapter to the same IP address as the Mac Mini, hence the point-back to the iMac every time.
Guess we're all allowed the occasional foul up.....

  • Need Step By Step To Connect iMac G5 with Powerbook Wallstreet G3

I have an iMac G5 Tiger with a dialup connection. I have a Wallstreet OS 9.1 with Airport 2.0.2 and a Wavelan Silver card. I have no base station.
I thought it would be good to network the Wallstreet to the iMac, either to share internet (which would probably drag the speed down) or just to talk to each other.
I am looking for some idiot-proof step-by-step instructions to connect these two machines. I searched this site and didn't find what I'm looking for. Anybody know where I should go?

    iVmichael wrote:
Can I ask why you didn't just connect them with a Firewire cable and then Boot the MBP (or the iMac) into Target Disc mode by holding down T at start up?
Then it would appear as a Volume on the other Desktop and you can just drag and drop files across as needed.
Sorry, should have explained that the intent was not to copy the imac to the laptop, but to create a permanent ability to transfer files back and forth between each computer. They each reside in different rooms, so cabling each time I want to do a file transfer would be a pita.

  • Problems with graphics and Internet connection - iMac 2011 with Lion

First: sorry about my english... It is terrible! lol
I have an 2011 iMac, purchased in June 2011 in the USA. I brought the iMac to Brazil.
Sometimes when I turn on my iMac, the graphics are horrible and can not connect to the Internet. When this happens, I have to restart the Lion.
Apple introduced the "iMac FW Graphic Update 3.0". The information says clearly that supports Brazilian Portuguese. Butwhen I install, an error appears: "this software is not compatible with your system".
My Lion is in Brazilian Portuguese. Why it is not compatible? How do I install it? How can I solve this problem?
Note: The technical assistance of Apple changed the HD, according to recall made by Apple through the site. The HD is new.
    Thank you very much!

Anybody? I'm buying a new network card simply but I'm not sure that it is the network card that is causing the network problems I'm experiencing.

hello friends. I wont buy macmini new, but have old iMAc24 (2006year). I need now - Can I connect the iMac as the primary monitor, the future MacMini

The 27-inch iMac and Thunderbolt iMacs can be used as external screens > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
A 24-inch iMac can't be used as an external screen. However, you can use an application like ScreenRecycler to use your iMac as a screen for the Mac mini, but you need another screen to set up the new Mac

  • Hey Guys, from Germany. I want to connect my iMac 21" with my Tv just for fun. Does anyone know, how it works. With a Hdmi adapter?

Hey guys! I want to connect my Imac 21 " with my Tv just for fun. Does anyone know , how it works?

Selecting the correct adapter and cable depends on which year model iMac you have and what inputs the TV has?
Check the User's Guide that came with your iMac or your Spec's at > Apple - Support - Technical Specifications
to see if your iMac has a Mini-DVI or Mini DisplayPort and then select that adapter with the correct connection for the TV.
Example: if you have a 2010 or 2011 iMac and an HDMI ready TV, then you would want the > Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support - Apple Store (U.S.)

    Hi mshields1162,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:
iTunes 10: Sync to your iPod

    Thanks,

You can connect them in Target Mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661 and then drag and drop from the iMac to the MacBook.

  • I have a mac Book Pro and and iMac, both with Thunderbolt. I connect my thunderbolt cable to each and each tells me that it is connected to the other, but when I try secondary screen in Aperture it is still grey and not available, what do I have to do to?

I have a Mac Pro and an Imac, both with thunderbolt. When I connect the two together with a thunderbolt cable each recognises the other as shown in the system report, but when I try to use second screen in Aperture, the option is still grey and unavailable. What do i have to do to activate second screen in Aperture via thunderbolt?

In actual fact this seems a bigger problem than I thought. Linking the two computers via the Thundernolt cable and selecting cmd F2 no longer shares the screen at all and Apple say it may not be able too in Mointain Lion - What are they playing at, hundreds of customers link computers together and share the screens - Lets hope they are wrong and tell us what we need to do other than move back to Windows.

  • I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.3 and have connected an Epson Workforce 2540 printed that is allegedly Airprint enabled. I can connect and print with a USB cable but can't connect via Airprint. My colleague running 10.7 can. Is this a feature of 10.8?

I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.3 and have connected an Epson Workforce 2540 printed that is allegedly Airprint enabled. I can connect and print with a USB cable but can't connect via Airprint. My colleague running 10.7 can. Is this a feature of 10.8? Any ideas for a fix?

iOS devices use AirPrint to connect to a supported printer. OS X will use Bonjour to locate and connect to the same printer.
With the Epson connected to your wireless router, when you open Print & Scan and click the plus button to add, does the Epson appear in a small box with a heading of Nearby Printers?
If not and a window appears showing Default, Fax, IP and Windows in the toolbar, do you see the Epson with the Default view selected?

    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

  • Slow Internet Connection on iMac G5 with Airport or Ehernet

I'm running 10.5.8 on a Power PC G5 iMac (ISight) with 2.5GB SDRAM and 40GB spare space on the hard disk. There's 2 ways I can connect to the internet:
Using Airport, where I get a max download speed of 3Mbps.
Using a Devolo powerline bridge where download speeds are also 3Mbps. The spec transfer rate of the Devolo device is 14 Mbps. All download speeds are measured using www.speedtest.net, and I have a 802.11g wireless router.
My ISP subscription is for 16 Mbps, which I can almost achieve on my iPad elsewhere in the house.
As a straight comparison test, I ran the speedtest on the iMac with a Windows XP machine right beside it. While the Windows machine returned a max download of 7Mbps, the same test at the same time on the iMac only recorded 2.5Mbps.
I have done all the ususl things: reset permissions, rebooted PRAM, reset the router, deleted all wireless connections from the iMac etc.
It therefore appears that, whichever means of connection is used, the iMac can only reach 3 Mbps. Is this something which could be a function of the age of the iMac (6 years) and its spec, or is there something I can do to improve the speed and return it to the higher levels I used to enjoy?

    Hi Paul,
That really is a first...if you go over to the iPad discussions there are a lot of complaints about the iPads are so slow compared with the uers' Macs/PCs, etc. You must be the first person to say their iPad is faster than their iMac
It is very possible the issue is the age of the iMac, though it seems the speed is a little low for a machine connected by ethernet. I could understand the slower transfer rate on wireless since the older AirPort cards were much slower than today.
I don't have my 802.11 standard here right now, over at my daughter's house, but the transfer rates you quote for the service provider sound like the g-protocol limits in free-air. So the half-speed rate is not an unreasonable reduction.
When you say you used to enjoy higher transfer rates, was that with 10.5 or 10.4? Just curious, because improvements in OSs often carry along higher system overhead, also.
    Ralph
