Connected or not connected: iMac and iPad airport utilities disagree

The airport utility on my iMac show that my airport extreme is connected to the internet, and so it is, it works fine.
but:
The airport utility on my iPad show that my airport extreme is NOT connected to the internet, and yes, I cannot log onto my wireless network from my iPad. I find the network in the list of available networks, but when I log on it just hangs, and hangs forever. (But it easily logs onto any other network outside my home).
This happened after I bought a new iMac and connected to the net, there was some problem that it resolved by itself, but after that ny iPad disconnected.
I have upgraded everything that can be upgraded, restarted everything a number of times but still have the problem.
Please HELP, I miss my iPad!
Anneli

Try this:
1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Beginner question: Can I create a hybrid home network between an ethernet-connected iMac and an airport connected Macbook Pro using a hybrid router?

I recently acquired an friend's used iMac, I don't know anything about networks and all I can find is how to create a Wi-Fi home network but nothing about hybrid Ethernet/Wi-Fi networks.
I have the iMac connected via Ethernet to the wireless router.
I connect via Airport with my MacBook Pro
I would appreciate if anyone has any pointers as to how I can start setting up a network between my ethernet-connected iMac and WiFi connected Macbook.
    Thanks!

ethernet and airport/WiFi are just transmission media for the same network. If you can get internet on both computers, they are networked. Using the same router = same network.
So now, what is it you want to do? Share files between them?

You can't simply change the details.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

When adding Airport to a "receiver/stereo amplifier" to play iTunes and other music files on my iMac and iPad, what do I connect Airport to? Aux on the receiver/amplfier? Thanks, Terrell

How does iPhoto figure into this?  Your question seem more like an Airport question.

I check all the power cables and and connections and still not he issue. Iv'e tried C-F2 also. has anyone used this devive (AV360) on there own 27" thunderbolt display (not the imac) and gotten it to work? If so I'd appreciate the help.

There are multiple reasons that lead to issue. You should read the troubleshooting guide to get the right solution to solve the issue: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

  • Connecting iMac and MacBook Pro using a non-Apple wireless router

I use a Belkin wireless router. Is there any way for me to connect iMac and MacBook Pro using the router to share files? I think I read somewhere that I need AirPort Extreme for this, but I'm not sure. Thank you.

Great resource from Dennis...file sharing, I.e. networking, is a function of the operating system settings and not the brand of router. Using Mac OS X 10.6 on both machines makes it really seamless. Following Dennis's kb article should make the two almost act like one machine.

  • E-mail (Outlook) syncs to iMac and iPad, but not to iPhone. How can I get it to sync to all three devices?

My e-mail (Outlook) syncs to my iMac and my iPad.  However, I can read e-mails on my new iPhone, respond to them, and even erase them, but when I go to my computer or iPad afterwards, they still appear unopened and I have to open each one and close it again so it doesn't show up as an unread e-mail.  This does not happen with the iMac and iPad; deleting it on one of those deletes it on the other as well.  What am I doing wrong?

I asked the hosts to relocate your question to the Using iPhone Forum. You should get helped there.

  • Can i connect imac and macbook by usb?

can i connect imac and macbook pro by using USB clable? i just want pass my files and music from macbook to imac.
    thank you

You can't connect both computers by USB. The easiest way is to connect them using a FireWire cable (if your iMac and your MacBook Pro have got FireWire ports), and put your MacBook in target disk mode (start your MacBook holding the T key).
Doing this, the iMac will detect the MacBook's hard disk as an external disk, so you can easily access to your files from Finder and copy the data you want to the iMac's hard disk

  • I can airprint from my macbook and imac but not my iphone and ipad, whats wrong?

I can airprint from my macbook and imac but not my iphone and ipad, whats wrong?
I'm aware that all printers are not airprint enabled but since i can print form my imac that should not be a problem right?

    Hey Fredrik68,
I would double check and see if you meet all the requirements for AirPrint here, including the printer model:

You can stop new photos being automatically added to Photostream in iPhoto from iPhoto preferences > Photostream.

  • Why can I sync iBooks on my iMac and iPad but not my Mac Book?

Why can I sync iBooks on my iMac and iPad but not my Mac Book?

That did cross my mind earlier today and when checking iCloud found that it had an old ID. I logged out and then in again on my current ID. It still doesn't sync.

  • HT4783 Why can I not airdrop between my iMac and iPad Air?

Is there a way to airdrop between my iMac and iPad Air?

AirDrop uses different systems to transfer data in iDevices and Macs, so you cannot use AirDrop between an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and a Mac. If you want this feature, send the idea to Apple > http://www.apple.com/feedback
Instead, there are other ways to transfer data between the Mac and your iPad, like Dropbox, or use iTunes.

  • Wireless printing with my iMac and iPad...

I have a lexmark X4530 printer that I would like to set up for wireless printing from my iMac and iPad (mostly the iPad). I don't have the disk that came with my printer. I currently have the printer wired to my iMac and it is working fine. I tried to print from my iPad, it found the printer but says there is a connection error. I'm not sure what order to connect all this in. Do I set up printer wirelessly to my iMac first or can I just leave printer plugged into iMac and print from iPad wirelessly? Also I tried to use the wireless setup assistant that installed on the iMac when I first plugged in the printer, but it tells me (after entering in all necessary information) that there is a connection error. Please help!!

Goto bottom of scren in iTunes there is a section called sharing when it is connected to your computer. The sharing section lists those apps where data/files can be directly imported via syncing. Click on the app you want to transfer and then add the file.

For anyone else reading this thread, it is worth knowing that sometimes an email is, or can be, corrupted thereby jamming the works. The solution above is good, but I just wanted to suggest another one.
If the problem arises, go to an online mail access service, such as Mail2Web.com and login to you mail account there and delete the offending message.
    Problem solved.
And George, as this is all entirely voluntary, whinging about no takers may not endear people to you. Besides which, a few minutes of searching on Google would have found you a number of solutions.
