Connecting a Dell B22 FEX to Nexus 6001 and storage

Hi Folks,
We have a setup where we are running a Dell B22 FEX in Blade enviornment and want to connect the B22 FEX to a cisco Nexus 6001 switch. As per NX-OS release note, B22 FEX and 6001 Nexus connectivity is supported.
Now after connecting to Nexus 6001, how do i get access to storage pool or SAN fabric ?  As per another thread of discussion, Nexus 6001 does not support direct fabric attachment at this point in time. So how do we bridge these two elements to a storage fabric ??
As per 6.02 release note:
"Support for DELL FEX
Added support for the Cisco Nexus B22 Dell Fabric Extender for Cisco Nexus 6000 Series switches starting with the 6.0(2)N1(2) release."
This is the exact reason we bought it. We have a enviornment where we are running Dell B22 FEX.  Idea is to connect the B22 FEX into Nexus 6001. We are confuse at this point. After connecting the Dell B22 FEX to Nexus 6001, how to access the storage network or storage fabric ??
Thanks,

Hi Rays,
The function should be the same for all FEXs regardless of what parent switch they connect to. to.
if you are referring to this comment:
You can connect any edge switch that leverages a link redundancy mechanism not dependent on spanning tree such as Cisco FlexLink or vPC
FelxLink is a different technology that does not use STP, but not every switch platform supports FelxLink. FlexLink is not used very often, as other technologies like VSS, VPC and stacking has emerged.

  • Connecting IBM B22 FEXes to Nexus 7000

    Hello everybody,
Could someone give an definite answer, better to based on personal experience - is it possible to attach B22 FEX going to the IBM chassis to Nexus 7000 via F2 series 48-port 10G card?
NXOS is currently running 6.1.5a but we plan to upgrade to 6.2.8 or 6.2.12 once we get new 4GB DIMMs for SUP1 modules.
    Thanks.

In my case, I was getting this error on a interface of a Nexus C6001 with the FET-10G transceiver.  I was able to clear it up by temorarily replacing and configuring a slower GLC-T which worked as expected.  I then removed all the settings an got the FET-10G to link.

  • How to connect a DELL screen (DVI-D) to MacAir via Thunderbolt

    Hello,
can one connect a DELL screen (DVI-D) (eg Ultraslim S2230MX) to a MacAir via the Thunderbolt outlet using a
Mini DisplayPort to-DVI-Adapter ? Does anyone have experience with such a combination?
    Many thanks, Werner

The Thunderbolt to DVI adapter does not discrimate what monitor is connected to it via DVI.
So yes, you can connect your Dell monitor to your MBA using the adapter.

  • All devices on network lose internet connection when Dell laptop connected

I have successfully setup my AEBS network and am using two wireless clients--HP printer and Xbox access point (both 802.11 G) and a wired iMac that also is connected via Airport (so I can move it around if i want). I tried connecting my Dell Latitude D830 wirelessly and within a few minutes of connecting the AEBS loses internet connectivity. Unplugging and restarting the AEBS restores the internet but it just drops off again in less than 10 minutes. My question is, what might be causing this and what can I do about it? One peculiar thing to me is that I am using the WEP security option since the Xbox doesn't seem to support WAP2. When connecting the Xbox it reports the network as WEP but the HP printer and Dell Laptop but suggested the network was indeed WAP even though I'm clearing using WEP security. Maybe it's nothing but wanted to add for completeness.
The Dell is running Vista Enterprise edition.
    Thanks for any help.

I've noticed a similar issue. Any time my HP/Vista laptop is connected to my AEBS it loses the network connection at inconsistant time intervals(~10-15 min).

  • How do i connect a dell monitor u2715h to my macbook pro late 2013?

How do I connect a Dell monitor U2715H to my MacBook Pro. The only drivers provided are for Windows.

THanks, James. My daughter suggested I just plug in my new monitor since Macs often don't need as much driver support as Windows machines. Sure enough, that's all I had to do.

Hello, I want to connect another Dell UltraSharp Monitor, (identical), to my Mac Mini, late 2014 model. However, there's only one HDMI port, and two Thunderbolt ports, can I connect two monitors to this machine?

Yes. You can use the thunderbolt ports with either DVI or HDMI adapters to connect the screens to.

  • Connecting 2 dell monitors via DVI to MBP.

    Hi folks.
I want to have 3 screens in total.
1 built in MBP dispaly + 2 other dell displays.
Obviously there is just one display porton my mac, how i connect the other two dell dispalys to my Mac.
The Dell's have display port, vga and DVI ports on them.
Do i need to purchased a cable or adapter to achieve my desired configuration.?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You didn't specify the sizes of those monitors.  But assuming the resolutions fit within the limitiations of these adapters you could use something like the following for one of the displays:
Newer Technology USB to DVI / HDMI / VGA HD Video Display Adapter
Or just search for USB to video converters.
For the other you could use a DVI adapter directly into the video port.
The reason the monitor sizes is important is because for resolutions above 1920 x 1200 you need a dual link dvi adapter for dvi connection.  So assuming you have a mini-displayport (or thunderbolt) video port (you didn't specify your model of computer either) then you could use,
    For single link DVI:
Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt to DVI Adapter
    For dual link DVI:
Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt + USB to Dual-Link DVI Adapter

  • Can i connect a dell laptop to my apple tv

I was just wondering if i am able to connect a Dell inspiron laptop to my apple tv wireless or will i need to get cables for it .....

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR.

  • Can't connect my Dell Inspiron 1200 to my Mac airport

I just spent X amount of dollars to try to connect my Dell to my Mac airport for nothing. I keep trying to connect to my wireless network, putting my password and it keeps telling me that it can't connect to my preferred network. The person who fixed my computer told me that my Dell worked fine at his place which means that it's a question of compatibility between my airport and my Dell. What do you suggest I do to fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is fine.. but it should be in WAP mode.. depending on the brand.. this is called bridge by airport.. but that name is seldom used of router bridge.. since with wireless routers it is so easily confused with wireless bridge.
But any wireless router is in effect a router plus a WAP. You can buy a plain WAP for twice the price of the cheap router which is more useful. This is just product marketing.. and is there to trick people into paying more for less.
A cheap wireless.. eg any of the bottom series of TP-Link will cost you less than $50 in whatever currency you use.
Set the router in WAN bypass mode. This means set a fixed IP address of the same range as the airport uses.. eg if at default your AE is 10.0.1.1 and has dhcp set to 2-200. So make the new router 10.0.1.250 and turn off the dhcp server in the router.
Plug ethernet from LAN on the router to LAN on the airport.
Voila.. you have a WAP that will work fine next to the Airport.
Set the wireless channels if you need to but auto should be fine.. spacing the two routers a couple of meters is also good.
Any issues ask as specific as possible.

  • I just bought an Apple TV. Can it be connected to Dell S2309W monitor screen at all?

Can Apple TV connect to Dell S2309W monitor?

You would also need to make sure the monitor supports HDCP or else you won't be able to play protected content (ie iTunes, Netflix)

  • Connecting a Dell 1100 laser printer to iMacs

I have a two iMacs (one is brand new and one is 4 years old) and want to connect a Dell 1100 laser printer to them. Is this possible to do and if yes what software do I need (and where can I get it)?
    Thanks!

Download and install the Samsung ML-1610 GDI printer for MacOS X.
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/samsung-gdi/
This driver will also work perfect with your Dell Printer! (It does work fine with the Dell 1100 at my work!)
    First install this (5.6 MB):
    espgs-7.05.5-0.ppc.dmg
    And then this (76 KB):
    samsung-gdi-foomatic-1.0.ppc.dmg
    Hopefully this solved your problem.

  • Cisco nexus 6001 not a supported device on cisco prime infrastructure 2.1?

I have installed Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 and Prime Infrastructure still doesn't seem to support the Nexus 6001 platform? Can someone tell me if Cisco Prime Infrastructure will ever support the Cisco Nexus 6001 platform or is there any plans to support it in any future device packs?

The Nexus 6001 isn't currently supported in PI 2.1. There's no workaround except to wait for a device or product update that adds support. Right now I know the 9000 series is on the 2.2 roadmap but I haven't seen any reference to the 6001 and PI.
Interestingly, Prime LMS does support both the 6001 and 6004. Reference.

  • Nexus 6001 for small DC as a collapsed core/distribution instead of 4500X

    Hi,
I am looking for a switch platform for a small DC that can provide high density 10G and good L3 performance. I was thinking of Nexus 6001 as L3 performance is better thant 5548/5596 and it supports FabricPath. Than I have also looked at the 4500X but I think that it is more a campus switch than a DC switch. Moreover I would like to get rid of Spanning Tree ;-)
My last concern is what is the difference in the buffer capacity (when talking 10G to 1G conversion) when comparing the Nexus 6001 to the CAT4500X?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
