Connecting a HDMI cable to my D20

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has had problems connecting HDMI cables to their D20 via an ATI FirePro 5700 cards.
I seem to not be able to get the cable to fit allthey way, and they keep popping out.  It appears that the rails on either side of the video card back (i.e. where you connect DVI/HDMI cables to the back) seem to keep the cables fom going in all the way.  I've been looking on the Inernet for HDMI connectors that might have longer connectors or thinner plugs, but have not been successful.  I was thinking about using my Dremel to cut/sand  the rails to create more room for the entire plug, or to sant some of teh casing of the plug to make it thinner, but both seem to be bad ideas, especially with regard to voiding warrenties.
Does anyone have any ideas.
Kind Regards,
AP

Is your ATI FirePro 5700 from Lenovo, namely the option number 51J0510? If this is the case it has two Display Ports and one DVI, it doesn't have HDMI. Using the Lenovo Display Port to DVI adapter cable would be one option for you, another would be a Display Port to HDMI adapter.

    Hello all,

However, as soon as I plug in my tv with the HDMI cable the screen goes blank again:(
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Many thanks,
    Sam

  • "connected to HDMI cable"???

I'm continually getting a message "connected to HDMI cable".  Then, up pops a screen for "select dock type". If I select anything on that menu, it takes me to a mode where I seemingly can't do anything.  Also, as of now, my phone will only work when I hold it sideways.  Any ideas?

This error has been continually happening.  I have restarted the phone multiple times.
I have "force stopped" Motorola Dock Helper Service AND Motorola Dock Service upon your recommendation.  I restarted the phone after doing so, and the error is still happening.
Just seconds after bringing the phone to life, a small "Select Dock type" menu occurs in the middle of the screen.  It says to use Webtop OR Mirror on display.  If I tap on the screen on the edges (not on this menu), I can get the menu to disappear.  I can't seem to find anyway to make the phone function in upright position.  the touch screen is only responsive when I have the phone positioned sideways.

I have tried installing a disc to try and reinstall the operating system.
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
If you did manage to reach the desktop after doing any of the above

  • HT4241 i am trying to connect a hdmi cable to my mac book air i hit source list but not is showing on my tv  can somone help me to fix it

i connect a mini display port to my HDMI cable but all i am seeing to the TV is the screen saver on the main screen i am unable to view videos on my tv  can any one help

It's possible the TV doesn;t support the same rersolution as before.
Does the LED flicker when you press remote keys?
If so try holding menu and up arrow together for 6 seconds to cycle display resolutions.
If possible try a different HDMI cable/HDMI port.
If all fails you may need to do a restore as described here:

  • Audio from iPad whilst connected with HDMI cable?

I'm planning to connect my iPad (3rd Gen) to a computer monitor without speakers using an HDMI cable... I assume I can still take the audio out from the iPad to connect to some external speakers?
(I'm going to be playing Keynote presentations with some sound)

The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports.
The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio. If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug.
The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. Check your TV manual to see if it has audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
If you have the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody or Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the Mini DisplayPort rather than the Mini-DVI there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

HI , Welcome to the HP Forums!  It is a grand  place to find answers and suggestions!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. Learn How to Post and More How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?  I understand that when you connect your TV to your HP laptop via HDMI the TV screen flickers.  If you connect the TV to your PS3 it does not.  You have tried different refresh rates and resolutions but there was no change. Your notebook has   HDMI version 1.4 supporting up to 1920 ×1200 @ 60Hz as stated in the maintenance and service guide.  Please note chapter 1 page 9 under Ports.  HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide Have you ran the  HP Support Assistant  to try and obtain any HP updates? Have you done all your Windows updates? You can also manually check the HP Drivers & Downloads   page.  You will need to input your exact model and follow the prompts to display your recommended software and drivers. Please note HP is doing some updates to their web site and you may need to try later to access the page. You could try a different HDMI cable just to rule that out.  To show appreciation for my replying please click the thumbs up button below. If this provided a solution please tell people by choosing solution provided.   Best of Luck!

  • Connect my ipad to pc with an HDMI cable

I'm trying to view my ipad on my PC, I have them connected via HDMI cable... I don't know how to make it show on the PC, any suggestions?

HDMI is a video-out system.  It's used for connecting an iPad to a monitor or TV or something of the sort.  If you have HDMI 'in' sockets on your computer then you could look at the image from there, but that's very rare: most HDMI sockets on a computer would be HDMI out sockets.

  • Connecting HDMI Cable to HD BOX

I am connecting the HDMI Cable to the HD Box and it does not provide a picture.  I does flash a DUI code when it tries to connect via the cable.  Does this mean I have to upgrade my service to HDTV for the box to work as an HDTV Box and the HDMI cable will then produce the signal I need for the rest of the devices?

No. It means that your TV and the STB have a failure ot communicate.  Search for "HDMI Handshake" and you will find multiple posts regarding this problem with the Motorola boxes.  The boxes (HD or SD) always have all the video / audio outputs enabled at all times.  Also, ALL of Verizon's tiers include some HD.  Supposedly there will be a firmware update at some time in the future to fix this known isuue (it is less prevelent than it was on the previous firmware version).
The only solution (really a band aid) is to use component cables (red / gree / blue) for video and red / white for audio.  This will still give a full 1080i HD signal.

  • Yoga2 Pro - how to use tablet as a projector connected with TV decoder via hdmi cable?

Hi, My TV is broken and I would like to use my tablet as projector connected via HDMI cable from TV decoder to my tablet. What should I do? How to configure and which apllication I should use?

You will need to choose the correct (Input) on the TV for the MacBook.....say your cable box is set to HDMI !.....and your MacBook is on HDMI 2.....you will need to select HDMI 2 from the TV's menu for the signal from the MacBook to show on the TV screen.......the selection choices are examples as I do not know exactly how you have things connected......

  • Mini dvi to VGA adapter to HDMI cable

i have a mini dvi to vga adapter for my macbook (bought in 2007) and that works but I want to connect to hdmi cable to this? But don't exactly know how to do this or if it is possible?

It is my understanding that 'VGA' is analog and HDMI is digital....from what I have read it won't work without a convert
I use a Mini DVI to DVI adapter and then a DVI to HDMI adapter to run the HDMI cable to to TV
    the converter...VGA to HDMI...

Personally I would shelf the VGA adapter and go with the new cable set up...if you already have the HDMI cable then an adapter from DVI to HDMI would be in order

  • No audio thru HDMI cable post-upgrade to 10.8.5

Used App Store yesterday to update OS X, Mtn Lion to 10.8.5 on my 2012 MBP.  Since then I cannot get audio to play on my TV connected via HDMI cable thru the Thunderbolt/mini display port.  It worked fine under 10.8.4.  Have tried it on two different TVs, both relatively new w/o success.  Checked Sound panel of System Extensions, of course.  Using latest VLC update to play .mp4 and .avi files, and Firefox for USTVnow.com programming. (I live in México.) Any suggestions?

You sir, are awesome! I've just ran Repair Permissions on my machine and my audio seems to be working better now too. I've just been able to put my Mac Mini to sleep and when I've then woken it up, the audio would play as normally. Prior to this, when I was waking it up, the Audio wouldn't play. Thank you very much for the suggestion. Fingers crossed it continues to work!
