Connecting between labVIEW and PLC S7-1200 using EPICS

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to connect between LabVIEW and PLC S7-1200 using EPICS. I did it using OPC and it succeeded and the communication was done, so right now i'm trying to do it using EPICS. so Can anyone help me with that?

I am pretty new in this field. I just got into grad program, and I have been asked to establish a TCP/IP connection between Lantronix XPort Pro and labview 8.5. The goal is to get data from the server (Lantronix XPort Pro) and put them into labview and modify them, then I need to send modified data back into server.
The server has registered into local network wirelessly, it has IP 192.168.5.117 in port 26.

Which field are you "new" to? Programming in general? Programming in LabVIEW? TCP/IP?
Have you taken a look at the TCP/IP examples that ship with LabVIEW? There are simple Data Client/Data Server examples that show transfer of data over TCP/IP. You will likely need to do something very similar. Does the XPort Pro have a TCP/IP listener running? Do you have a communication protocol defined?
Also, if you are new the LabVIEW, have you gone through any of the tutorials? To learn more about LabVIEW it is recommended that you go through the introduction material, tutorial(s), and other material in the NI Developer Zone's Learning Center which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the online courses for free.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

Connection between O and BP is missing

Hi,
When i check inconsistency for a user, i am getting " Connection between "O" and "BP" is missing. When i check the Org.unit in PPOSA_BBP, i could see no BP exists for that Org.unit where user is assigned. I have replicated the org.unit from HR system but yet the BP hasnt been generated. Can you please share your idea on this.

Hi Prasath,
This might be because you need to assign the user to a Purchasing Organisation or a Purchasing Group. If the user do not have BP created then you can do this by using tcode USERS_GEN.
Go to USERS_GEN and follow below steps :
1. Select Create User From Existing SU01 user
2. Enter the org id of the POrg or Pgroup under which you want to assign the user
3. Select country and execute
4. In next window one popup will occur, select Area Of User
5. In next popup enter the user id
6. Next select the user and click Ok.
7. This will create a BP and CP for the user and assigns the BP to the Org id of the POrg or Pgroup.
8. Now check the consistency of the user it will show all green.
It might give you error like eMail id for BP XXXXX is missing if the SU01 profile of the user does not contain any user id but it is not critical.
You can open the BP in BP tcode and enter the email id of the user.
Let us know if it solves your issue.

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

Check your settings:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
Make sure your iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and comparing the name of the network each is on.
Go to Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps and turn on Handoff.
Go to Settings > Phone and turn off Wi-Fi Calling.

Communicating between LabVIEW and Basic Stamp 2.0

Hello,
We are trying to control the movement of a Parallax Boe-Bot (robot with
Board of Education) via LabView programming. The BOE operates on
Basic Stamp programming to control the pulse width sent to two servo
motors.
Is there a way to establish communication between LabVIEW and Basic
Stamp 2.0? We need to send commands from LabVIEW to the
Basic Stamp to control the pulse width and therefore the rotation of
the two servo motors. We also need to send a signal from an
accelerometer based on the robot to the LabVIEW ADC.
The ultimate goal is to do this with wireless communication, but for
right now we are simply trying to figure out any way to send the data
between LabVIEW and the Basic Stamp.
Any ideas?

Hi Adam,
You can communicate with a BASIC Stamp microcontroller over GPIB using VISA. To see some LabVIEW example code, just search for GPIB in the NI Example Finder (Help>>Find Examples). This will show you the basics of GPIB communication in LabVIEW. I also found this link by searching the NI discussion forums for "basic stamp"

Here you can download an example using LabVIEW 7.0 or higher to communicate with a BASIC Stamp 2.

Any ideas ?

the tnsnames.ora alias PG is wrong - you need to have 2 closing brackets after the SERVICE_NAME so that HS=OK is outside of the CONNECT_DATA like:

With this component it was my intention to make a more "terse" version of the LabVIEW Flatten to XML VI that was also supported on RT and that gave the user more flexbility regarding the structure of the parsing type definition. I think you are right that the XML parser is not compliant to section 2.11 of the XML spec. The parser does specifically looking for a #D#A and this appears to be an oversight on my part. Please confirm for me, the specifcation is saying that the XML parser should be able to recognize three possibilities as an "end of line" character: #D#A, #D, or #A. Am I reading this right?There are more efficient (and in some cases much more efficient) ways of sharing data between LabVIEW and LabVIEW: some examples are flattened binary strings and the datalog binary format. XML is slower than these optons but the upside is that it is human readable. Furthermore XML is inherently hierarchical which is convenient for complex data structures like clusters of arrays of clusters, etc. If you don't care about human readability then you are correct XML doesn't make as much sense.I will return to the GXML source code and try to fix this in the near future but I would hope that instead of creating yet another custom VI from scratch that you could reuse what I have provided for you. I included enough documentation in the source code so that users could make some modificiations themselves. The target application for this reference library was LabVIEW to LabVIEW communication. As such I documented the schema on the dev zone document from a LabVIEW perspective. It includes all the supported datatypes and all the supported data structures (cluters, arrays, multidimensional arrays, clusters of multidimensional arrays, etc.) I do see some value in making a more conventional XML spec but the time investment required didn't really line up with my intended use case. But at home you need to find the "outside" IP that the Internet sees, not the one you see on that machine.

Then you'll need to "Forward Ports" on the home router so incoming stuff knows where to go.
Then you'll need to enable the Services you wish to use on both machines.

is it possible to have some kind of a live connection between WebI and Xcelsius for the following scenario...
I need to have my WebI report made availabe as an Xcelsius Dashboard and when I filter a value in the dashboard it should also get filtered in the WebI report. Is this possible and if so then how?

Yes this is very possible. Of the three connection methods (QaaWS, Live Office, BI Services) I would recommend BI Services for flexibility, speed to set up, and speed for query refresh times.

LabVIEW CGI is the best solution for that. I know that you can build ActiveX controls (in Visual Basic) that talk to labVIEW. But LabVIEW CGI is the easiest way of doing that. You should have some knowledge of HTML inorder to work with LabVIEW CGI.
Also note that in order to have the LabVIEW CGI capability you should have Internet Toolkit for LabVIEW (available from NI). For more information

The examples that ship with the toolkit should get you started on it. LabVIEW CGI VIs would allow you to execute VI from web browser and get results back in web browser in form of HTML page.

HTTP type connectivity between XI and R3 - load balancing options ?

We have a http type connectivity setup between XI and R3 in order enable XI to communicate with R3 using ABAP proxies. We did this by creating a RFC destination on the ABAP stack of XI of type 'H' ( http connection between R3 systems ). Now, while setting up this rfc destination, there is no option to specify a message server on R3 - we just see a target server field that can be filled in.
In an rfc destination of type 3 - on the XI box ( which is used for a XI --> R3 idoc adapter ) , I can see an option for specifying message server.
Does this mean that using type 'H' connectivity between XI and R3 does not give us an option of hitting the load balancing - message server on R3 and thus cannot use the load balancing setup on R3 ? Is this is a limitation of type 'H' connectivity between XI and R3 ?
