Connecting DV Camcorder to G570

I am having a regular 1394 6 pin to 4 pin Firewire cable, but i dont see any port on this laptop for the 6 pin. Is there any other way to connect my camcorder to G570? Like a 4 Pin to USB kind of Firewire Cable?

have you tried to search ebay? ( with the keywords "4 pin to usb" )

My digital camcorder outputs via a Firewire socket. My new (2010) Macbook doesn't have a Firewire port. How do I connect my camcorder to the Macbook, please?

    Obviously, you don't.

Looking up your camera online, I found it is capable of 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p Recording. It's the 60p (60 frames per second Progressive) that's the problem I think. iMovie '11 will do 60i (Interlaced). You might need to convert it from the format the camera currently uses into another format to get it into iMovie. Read more about it on this link here: How to import 60p footage From that message thread comes the recommendation to use ClipWrap to convert the camera's video clips now that they are in 60p:

Use ClipWrap to rewrap to QuickTime. Import the files. Edit in either 59.94 or 29.97. The latter if you want to use the high frame rate for slomo

  • Communications error when connection my camcorder

I am having trouble downloading my movie tapes to the iMac. I use a canon mvx460 camcorder .When I connect the camcorder to the iMac, it recognises the camcorder.  I can make the camcorder play the tape from the imac but does not generate a picture. Then after a few minutes I get 'communications error' displayed. Sometimes i can connect but stops within a few minutes. I removed the imovie plist to another location but still no joy.
On the Macbook pro I have no trouble although it runs on lion but still has imovie 8.
I have just installed iMovie '11 on the iMac as I thought it was iMovie 8 that was giving me trouble with Lion, but it has made no difference.

you can try turning the phone on and if u get it to come on this is a reset, *#7370#. if the phone wont turn on. hold these keys while powering up, 3 * green and this will perform a factory reset, you will lose all of the data on the phone. other than that a trip to a nokia service centre will be needed. hope this helps

  • Cannot connect SONY camcorder to MAC

Hi. read some of the discussions re this but need different details. My camcorder is a SONY HDR-HCE. It says in manual that I need to connect using an i.Link cable. Does the iMac have an i.Link cable port? Where is it? When I use my USB it doesn't work on videos and I can't see a firewire port on the camcorder. HELP!!!

Ok, I bought a firewire cable and connected my camcorder. When I open iMovie it says that the camera is connected. I can play the video using the controls on iMovie but it only shows on the camcorder screen, not iMovie screen which remains blank. How do I fix this?

  • Connecting a camcorder to mbp

I just bought a new macbook pro and I've anticipated hooking my camcorder up to it. I've had my camcorder for a couple years (JVC Mini DV GR-D270U) and I have hours of footage but I never attempted to hook it up to my old imac, simply because I didn't think it could handle it. I've attempted to hook it up to my new mbp and it does not recognize it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It has a USB port and a DV port. I've tried a couple different USB cords, even purchasing a new cable today...still nothing when I plug it in and turn it on. Any suggestions?

I've tried to connect my Sony HC-35 through that kind of cable (firewire 4pin-9pin) but when connected to my newMBP firewire port the mac doesn't see the cam at all...I don't know what to do, is it possible that the camcorder is not compatible with the firewire 800 port, and therefore I have to use an adapter in between?

  • Connecting Sony Camcorder to Powerbook

I connected my Sony Camcorder's USB into my laptop and my laptop doesn't it find it when i try to import it to iMovie.
Should a new hardrive show up when i connect it to the USB like how the iPod's are connected?

It's my understanding that iMovie only imports via Firewire ports, and only DV format - not formats on DVD or hard drive cameras via USB.

  • Connecting sony camcorder to imac

Hi, new to imac ( not even 3weeks yet!) loving it, but I now want to move on to do some more stuff- I assume I can connect my old Sony mini DV cam corder to the imac via firewire? the Sony's model is DCR-pc101e it has a small firewire look port under the flap - but what sort of cable do I use to connect the the 2? I'm new to firewire - I'm kinda guessing it's like usb? mini micro standard etc?
Also, and perhaps more to the point, will the imac recognise the camcorder? or will I need extra software to import video's?
    tia Wayno

Apple says that virtually all miniDV tape video cams are compatible with iMovie - but you will need to connect via Firewire. USB will not work. You need a Firewire cable which you can get from the standard suppliers like Belkin. I assume you have a late model iMac which has only a Firewire 800 port so make sure you get the proper cable.
Once you have the camera connected to the iMac, start up iMovie, put your camera on play and then most likely the video import screen will show up. If not, then click on the little camera icon on the lower left side of the iMovie window. You should be able to control your camera from the video import screen.

  • Connecting Panasonic camcorder

I recently got a Panasonic PV-GS85 mini-DV camcorder. I took a few test videos and connected it to my macbook via USB and got nothing. I read a few places that USB will not work, and that I have to use firewire to connect and upload my videos. Is this true? Does anyone know how I can transfer my videos? Thanks,

    Hi mzbreski,
most (if not all) mini-dv camcorder have firewire port, and yours is one of them.
And like other camcorder brand, they usually shipped with usb only, assumming most user will use it with their PC, and most pc desktop and laptop didn't include FW as their standard.
So yes, you must invest a good FW cable by yourself. I believe it should be 4 pin to 6 pin FW cable.
    Good Luck.

  • Connecting external camcorder

I'm in need to use a external camcorder for live streaming video from my Macbook pro. When I connect the camera (PAnasonic AGPX170) nothing happens, it seems like the computer doesn't recognize it. Is there any aditional software/hardware needed?  Any help?
    Thanks in advance.

    Good idea, Karl.
I also remember reading some time ago that some FW hubs are OK with iMovie, or camcorders, and others not.
I haven't used a Canon camcorder for ages, but I do know that the Belkin and CharisMac Dino FW hubs certainly work with (my) Sony camcorders.
The Belkin hub looks like this:
    <img src="http://images.belkin.com/F5U526ukAPL-S/STD1_F5U526ukAPL-S.jpg"
..and the Dino hub like this..!
    <img src="http://www.charismac.com/images/hubzilla.jpg"
P.S; JUST REMEMBERED: I don't think the Dino hub is powered, so that ..going by Karl's suggestion.. may NOT work. But the Belkin definitely IS powered (..see the little power supply connector socket in the picture..) and comes with a massive mains-to-5v (sorry; that's for USB) ..mains-to 12v power transformer.

  • Connecting panasonic camcorder via usb to my macbook

So my macbook does not have a firewire slot. Which means i can only use a usb connection to my camcorder. Its a panasonic (5 yrs old) and when i connect it to my computer nothing happens. No new hardware shows up etc... There is no connection???

    Hi
USB/USB2 - No possible way at all. There are no working USB - FW converter.
    alt is to
    • Use another Mac to Import/Capture and to an external USB2 hard disk
This HAS TO BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange do not work
    • Exchange the MacBook to a Mac Pro Book (has FW-800)
    • Or labourus, bad quality and expencive - Use the Analog out from Camera and
an A/D-box that connects via USB (and comes with Capture programs)
Not recommended at all. Just as a last resort.

  • Connecting Sony CAMCORDER via USB

I am trying to connect my sony DCR-PC350 camcorder to my iMac Core duo. The iMac does not recognise it, my OS version is 10.4.4. Any advide?

If you're trying to capture video, try the Firewire port rather than USB. iMovie (and Final Cut Pro and Express) won't capture through USB.

  • Connecting HDV camcorder (component/HDMI) to MacPro for Ustream?

How can I connect my HDV camcorder (Panasonic AG-HMC150) using the component out or HDMI out to my Macbook Pro (newest model) for use with Ustream?  An option I was looking at but not avaiable yet is the Blackmagic Intensity Extreme.  Is there something else anyone has tried to get an HD live stream into thier Macbook for something like Ustream?
    Thanks!!!
    Michael

Issue solved for now with a pc laptop. I still can't do it with any Apple products, but since I have 56 views and no replies other than my own, I guess it's not possible to hook up an Apple product this way. The pc laptop worked right away with just an HDMI cable. We can close this question. Thanks.

  • No Firewire on my macbook, how do I connect my camcorder?

I had an older macbook with firewire and I connected my HD Canon camcorder to import my videos. it was easy. using one cable from DV to Firewire.
Then I bought a newer macbook and it doesn't have firewire. All it has is two USB 2.0 ports and this crappy Mini Displayport which I think only serves as a video output (not a video input). So how screwed am I?
is there a cable out there that can transfer video and audio from a HD camcorder (camcorder outputs DV, HDV, HDMI, Component A/V out) to my macbook's USB port? or maybe through the mini displayport?
All I want to do is import video I took in Thailand from my camcorder to my macbook. this isn't rocket science, right?

    What model is your camcorder?
HDV is a computer FILE, so if your camcorder has alternate input/output options you might be able to just COPY that file. This is camera specific.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDV#Distributing
HDMI to USB is a bit expensive, here's one solution.
    http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/capture-convert/GameCaptureHD. en.html
    However, remember this:
When you take your miniDV and use a firewire connection, you are doing a data transfer.
When you take your miniDV and use a HDMI to USB, you are doing a file conversion + transfer, which is NOT lossless. (You are decoding the video and then re-compressing it.)

  • Trouble connection to camcorder

I have FC Express and a Canon XHA1s camcorder. I have connected up the camcorder and my my MacBook Pro to each other with the FireWire cable and set in the easy setup
    Easy Setup configuration
    Format: HD
    Use: HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50
    There is no connection happening
I cannot control from within FC Express or even when I activate the camcorder I cannot see anything on the screen.

Have you verified that you actually shot HDV 50i?
Make sure that on your camera, the menu setting HD down-conv is set to OFF.
If you have done all these things, and still do not connect, have you tried trashing your FCE preferences, which may be corrupted (particularly if you have been making setting changes with the camera connected to the computer)?
Download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) and use it to trash your FCE preferences, They will be set to default settings the next time you launch FCE.
