Connecting EAP-TTLS-PAP network on 5800

I am studying at RMIT University and we have both eduroam as well as the university's own WPA network. I was trying to connect to it (V50) and was unable to connect. I was using the help of this guide http://sites.google.com/site/pramudi/connecting-to-eduroam-on-nokia-5800-symbian-s60v5 before I found out that RMIT uses 802.11x security mode with PAP encryption. Can anyone help me? Here's a link to their setup guide for Linux: http://mams.rmit.edu.au/ua7mgpk79jzez.pdf
I set it up and then it says TTLS authentication failed.

I've just made Eduroam work on my N95 in Oxford University thus (I'm on firmware 11.0.026 date 17-04-07):
1. Make sure the root certificate for the authority that signed your radius servers' certificate is in the root store of your phone. Oxford uses Globalsign which is not there by standard.
2. Choose WPA/WPA2 for the WLAN Security Mode
3. Choose EAP as the WPA/WPA2 type
4. Choose WPA2 only mode and make sure it is off
5. In the EAP plug-in settings enable only EAP-TTLS and choose that. Set the Authority Certificate to match the one that signed your radius server's certificate.
6. Set your username and realm both to be user-defined and put them in the right boxes (my realm is ox.ac.uk).
7. Use the right of the centre button to move on the EAPs tab and enable "EAP-MSCHAPv2" ONLY. DO NOT ENABLE "MSCHAPv2".
8. In the settings for EAP-MSCHAPv2 provide your username (and password if you wish, or set it to prompt for it).
As we say in England, Robert is then your parent's brother.
You should now be able to use that network connection for web browsing, email, SIP and anything else you might choose.

  • N95 EAP-TTLS + PAP

With the plethora of encryption options available on the N95 I was highly surprised to notice that PAP was not an option. My University network (UPenn) requires EAP TTLS PAP. Does anybody know if this will be incorporated in the future via firmware or other (possibly third party) software?
    Thanks!

  • E61 EAP-TTLS PAP

I'm trying to connect to a network secured by EAP-TTLS PAP. Is there a plug-in that I'm missing or is it available in the latest firmware?

Yeah sure....there is a diference between cannot and will not be. I am pretty sure that it is possible to add pap since there are no hardware limitations for adding it.
BTW why does it say plugin if you can't add a plugin?

When it will be available a solution to the lack of support for EAP-TTLS-PAP (as used by Eduroam) in Nokia N86 8MP throught a new firmware?
To many years waiting... Must we go to another solution?
    Thx.

I have succeed to import the local certificate using the instructions in

  • WiFI authentication and Eduroam (EAP-TTLS / PAP)

    Hi,
eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) is the roaming infrastructure used by the international research and education community (universities).
At least in Australia and AFAIK also in Europe.
Most sites use EAP-TTLS / PAP authentication (and it appears there are good technical reasons for it).
The current Symbian OS does not support it out of the box.
(or at least I couldn't find it on my E51)
Is there any solution (application, etc) able to supply this functionality ?
    Cheers.

e61drc: thanks, indeed, you are correct.
bife71: the e51 have mschapv2 (guess what ms stands for which require an active directory backend while pap may use practically anything (e.g. an ldap) ... this being a good technical reason why large organizations may prefer pap.
Well, from a company claiming "Connecting People" I am rather disapointed.
(further research turned out that this feature have been widely requested for at least 1.5 years)
    Cheers.

  • WiFi ( 802.1x EAP TTLS PAP ): Unable to connect since 2.3.3 update

I previously posted this on the Motorola Owner's Forum and am still waiting for a fix or at least an official confirmation of the problem.
Ever since the 2.3.3 update, I have been unable to connect to the wireless network at work.  The connection worked fine prior to the update.  The connection at home with WPA still works fine.
The network status cycles through the following sequence:
    Scanning...
    Connecting to <network>...
    Obtaining IP address from <network>...
    Disconnected
The corporate configuration is as follows:
    Security: 802.1x
    EAPEAP method: TTLS
    Phase 2 authentication: PAP
    CA certificate: (unspecified)
    User certificate: (unspecified)
    Use proxy server: (unchecked)
When I go into Manage Networks and select Modify network for the configuration, I find that Phase 2 authentication always shows None.  If I change it to PAP and then click Save, the setting does not stick: the next time I check the configuration, it is None.
I've done a factory reset.  I've configured the network settings with WiFi Advanced Configuration Editor.  I've configured the network settings with WiFiConfig Editor Pro.  All to no avail.
Please help.  I need to be able to connect to the corporate network.  If there is a known issue, it would be nice if someone would at least confirm it. Thank you.

My original Droid actually worked with the Andriod 2.0 release, but 2.1 broke it and it hasn't worked since.  I believe the Android codebase DID fix this, however Verizon has not made it a priority to include the fix in their releases.  I now have a Droid 4 running 2.3.6 and it is still broken.  Many of my coworkers have this same issue, but ONLY THE ONES ON VERIZON!  Other carriers have apparently figured out how to port this fix into their releases, regardless of which Android phone.
Come on Verizon, fix this so we can stop wasting your 4G bandwidth!!!

  • Extremely slow speeds on EAP-TTLS PAP secured network

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a Broadcom 4312 wireless chip and when I connect to my schools network I get speeds that are as low as 100 K/s or slower.
When I go to speedtest.net I get speeds of 10 M/s down. I have tried using both the B43 and wl drivers and I get about the same speed on speed test and still very slow speeds when updating through pacman or downloading files.
I am running the most recent versions of the kernel and all drivers.
Here is the output from lspci:
    0b:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)
If you guys have any ideas of what might help I'm willing to try it, thanks in advance.

Visited the Apple store today and they replaced the phone. They could not explain what was going on except for being a software issue.
They said if after restoring I have the same issue, you would have to restore the phone to new and re-install all apps and information manually from scratch.
I restored the phone from my backup, and all went well. No more slow LTE speeds, plus a new device.
The only thing I can think of that may have happened is updating carrier settings while updating the iOS at the same time. I thought it was normal because iTunes popped up the carrier update notification a few seconds later after starting the iOS 8 update.
The carrier update did have an option to cancel. I will definitely wait for the iOS update to complete before I update carrier settings next time.
I'm just wondering if my phone was out of warranty, and this happened, would Apple still replace the device?

  • Wi-fi eap-ttls - PAP inner security?

i've just got a blackberry 8900 and i can't connect to faculty wireless network due to a "pap - inner link security" demand.
anyone knows any program that can solve that? i've googled a bit and haven't found anything. (few opened topics that all end without a solution).
too bad blackberry doesn't support this since lots of universities (www.eduroam.org) and public organizations use this kinda protection, at least in my country. i believe this is a software, not hardware issue, any ideas on this "feature" ? any words from the developers on this issue?
    greetz, robert

TTLS-PAP is also used commonly by many organizations with non-Microsoft directory systems. And is commonly used by American universities as well. All three of the schools I attended, Harvard, Berkeley and UPenn, all used TTLS-PAP to secure their wireless networks.... Wild guess, those schools could be filled with idiots, but I'd venture a guess that they have people smart enough to deploy a wifi network properly.
    Xandrex wrote:
It's a question of being secure, and of being tolerant towards servers that are not secured.
This isn't accurate. Yes, PAP is not a secure password exchange method. But it is being sent through a TLS tunnel which is very secure. That is like saying sending a password in a web form through a SSL tunnel isn't secure. Well, actually, it is.
Also, it isn't for RIM to decide what is / isn't secure on user's wireless networks. Your analogy of SSLv2 just doesn't jive. If security was even an issue (it isn't) and PAP isn't supported because the RIM's great banevolence to their users, why is WEP still support? Or why are open networks supported?
All arguments aside TTLS-PAP is a very commonly used 802.1x authentication method supported by Windows Mobile, iPhone, Web OS, Mac OS X and Windows... RIM needs to get it together on this one.

  • Ttls/pap WiFi Authentication

My network uses ttls/pap authentication. Full details can be found here:
    http://www.oit.umd.edu/nts/noc/wireless/generic_config_chart.html
When I go to connect to the network on my Blackberry 8120 the phone detects that WPA2-Enterprise is in use.The default security type is PEAP - and other options inclide LEAP,EAP-TLS,EAP-FAST,EAP-TTLS,EAP-SIM. Selecting EAP-TTLS I only have MS-CHAP v2 and EAP-MS-CHAP v2 as my inner link security options. Unfortunately my network requres PAP as the inner link security option. Is there any way to use my blackberry with a network having this configuration?

Hi, I'm also having the same problem needing EAP-TTLS /PAP to connect to my network. I found this page:
    WiFi
    - there is 8021.X/EAP–TTLS support but sady I culdn't find anything about PAP
I think this problem might be solved without having to add or change any hardware to the device -> but I have no idea if anyone is doing anything to patch this problem with a software update.

  • Connecting myRIO to WiFi with WPA2 Enterprise EAP-TTLS

    Hey guys,
I´m struggling to connect my myRIO to the eduroam wifi on campus. It worked for a time, but now it suddenly just doesn´t.
The network runs a EAP-TTLS (or PEAP) Authentification, MSCHAPv2 as an inner authentification and a GT UserTrust Global Root certificate. When I first got it working I just set it up in MAX and uploaded the certificate, when that now stopped working I´ve tried just about everything including editing the wpa_supplicant locally on the myRIO.
To put it short I´m stumped at this, and the fact that it worked for a while doesn´t help O.o
    Cheers,
     Bjørn

    Hi bjornsol,
I managed to connect a wireless cDAQ to eduroam by
    Uploading the certificate in MAX
Entering the user name and network secret for PEAP, IP adress set to "DHCP or Link Local"
I can also confirm successfully accessing the device from a eduroam connected computer. Remember to configure a password for your device, it will otherwise be accessible to other eduroam users.
Ask the IT department at your university for a valid certificate. I downloaded this certificate from the KTH eduroam web page, not sure it will work for you if you are registered at another university.
If this doesn't work for you, please upload a screenshot from MAX when trying to connect to the network.

  • How to authenticate using PEAPv1 (EAP-GTC) to connect to a wifi network in iPad 3?

The iPad in Business deployment senario guide says that we can connect to a wifi network using the PEAPv1 (EAP-GTC).
But when we try to connect it, there is no option to choose that authenticaion method.
Also, when we try to create a profile using iPone Configuration Utility, there is just PEAP available (by default PEAPv0 (EAP-MS-CHAP v2)).
It is very important for me as my organisation allows only PEAPv1 authentication and I'm not able to connect to its wifi network.
    Thanking all of in anticipation.

  • EAP-TTLS with GTC (Generic Token Card)

    Greetings iPad Forum,
Our corporate wireless is currently setup to use EAP-TTLS with EAP-GTC (Generic Token Card) for inner identity. In other words, once a connection to the AP is initiated from a PC or Mac, the user is prompted for their RSA SecurID Passcode. No such luck on the iPad - it thinks that the AP is using TLS and wants a Certificate instead of a Token.
As a next step, I started playing with the iPhone Configuration Utility. It is possible to manually specify that the AP is using EAP-TTLS, but I see that EAP-GTC is not an inner identity option - only the *AP methods (PAP, CHAP, etc.).
Has anyone successfully connected to a Wifi network requiring EAP-GTC? I know that Tokens are supported for VPN, but not Wifi?

Keep playing with the iPCU. EAP-GTC with one-time password needs to be configured using a mobile configuration containing the WiFi payload. If configured on-device, iOS will continue to use the cached password causing account lockout.

  • EAP-TTLS wireless setup

I'm not very familiar with the different types of wireless security out there. I'm going back to school next week and need to setup my laptop for the school's wireless. I'm currently using networkmanager (which I'm loving btw). The requirements for the schools wireless are:
SSID (aka, Network Name):      psu    *note that the SSID is case sensitive and must be all lower case
    Network Type:      Infrastructure
    Security:      WPA2-Enterprise (not WPA2-PSK)
    Encryption:      AES
    Authentication Type:      EAP-TTLS
    Authentication Protocol:      PAP
Certificate Authority:      Thawte Premium Server CA
    Authentication Server:      radius1.aset.psu.edu
If allowed by your client program, it is also recommended that you enable options to Validate Server Certificate and Verify Server Name.
When I go to setup a new connection, the only authentication options i have are TLS, LEAP, Tunneled TLS, and Protected EAP(PEAP). Is there another package I need to install for EAP-TTLS?

I don't know much about wireless, but the EAP page at wikipedia would lead me to believe that Tunneled TLS (= TTLS) is the one you want.  There doesn't seem to be such a thing as 'standalone TTLS' if you get my meaning; searching wikipedia for TTLS just redirects to the EAP page.
