Connecting iPod to new Powerbook without deleting all songs?

I know that there's a button combination to hold when you connect your iPod to prevent from an auto-sync that erases everything on the iPod, but I cannot remember it. I'd look in the manual, but I lost it!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

I'm in the same boat: I'm stuck until I remember that button combination to hold down to prevent auto-sync from erasing everything. I even looked in the manual today but couldn't find it. Would very much appreciate this information!

  • Getting ipod on new computer without deleting all items.

My computer crashed so now I have a new one. I connect my ipod to my computer and intunes opens and asks me do i want to delete everything on my ipod and refill it with my cureent library. I want to know how to keep all my songs already on there but still be able to add new songs from this computer. Can anyone help?

    Hey,
If you still haven't figured out or erased all songs . You can do this.
    1) Connect your shuffle to PC (Assuming windows)
    2) Enable view hidden files and folder
    3) You should now see ipod_Control folder on your ipod disk in drive menus (my computer).
    4) Copy this ipod control folder on to PC.
    5) This folder has all your songs. in a folder Music.
    6) To import this to your new pc..Goto properties..Uncheck Hidden..and import it on your new iTunes library.

  • For Christmas I got a new computer after my other computer broke so I am wondering is there a way to sync my iPod touch that I already had with my new computer without deleting all my app data because I have over 200 hundred dollors of games

I got a new computer for Christmas it is a gateway and I have downloaded iTunes on it I need  to know if there is a way that I can sync my iPod touch with my new computer without deleting all of my app data I don't have my old computer It crashed so u can't even turn it on

    You should be able to:
Use Edit > Preferences > Devices > Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.
    Connect the device to iTunes.
Backup the device to the new computer.
Transfer your iTunes purchases into a newly authorized library.
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer.
Restore the device from the backup.
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps. When you get it all fixed, make a backup!
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.

  • HT1296 How do you sync your iPod to another computer without deleting all the data?

I recently got a new MacBook Air and I found out that if I sync my iPod touch with my new computer instead of my old one all my data will be deleted.
How do I sync my iPod without deleting all my information?

You can't, so you'll need to get all your data, apps and content to the new computer before you allow the sync. See this support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
You can also download most of your content (the notable exceptions being movies, some of which can be redownloaded if you're in the US, and audiobooks) again from the iTunes Store:

  • How do I sync my iPhone to a new iTunes WITHOUT deleting all of my content?

I had to totally reset my whole laptop and now my phone won't sync with the new iTunes without deleting everything- I obviously don't want to delete everything! HELP?!

This is how it works.  Iphone will sync with only one library at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content.
    Sorry.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put all of your data back on your computer, then sync.

  • How can I connect my ipod to a new computer without deleting all my music

I just got a brand new laptop and when I connected my ipod and iphone 4 it prompts to syns a delete everything.  How can I avoid that.  I tried using the manual setting, but once I press apply it asks again to sync and delete all my music. Is there any other way to accomplish this?

That's exactly the way it is designed to work.
When you attempt to sync your iDevice with a new computer/library, iTunes will wipe the contents of the device and replace it with the contents from the library on the new computer.
To avoid losing content, first copy or move the media from your old computer to your new computer.  Once this is done, the iDevice can be synced without worrying about iTunes removing the content as it can be synced back.

  • Can't connect to other iTunes without deleting all songs

I really hope someone out there can help me. I have an iPod shuffle and my sister an ipod mini and when my sister wants to take music from my iTunes she has to agree to delete all the songs on her iPod and install her iPod on my library and the same for me. is it just like that or can you fix that so you can connect to any computer and any music library on any computer??? please help me!

You sister however could put her Mini in to Manuel mode on her computer and than download songs from your computer without a problem though. For some reason Apple doesnt support manual mode with the Shuffle.

Hi! I've had my Ipod for quite some time and have recently gotten a new PC. I downloaded Itunes in order to put more files on my Ipod but it won't let me move the files on my Ipod to Itunes, and says I can't put new files on it without deleting the old ones. Is there any way to avoid getting all the files on my Ipod deleted?

  • My old computer crashed and I lost my old library of recorded CD's and new music.  I downloaded iTunes again and found my old account info.  How do I add a new CD without deleting all of my music on my iPod?

My old Computer crashed and I lost my old library of recorded CD's and tunes.  iTunes says I must delete everything off my iPod in order to add a new CD.  It also said I already have an account which I was able to locate.  I don't know how to get into my old account.  I think that would solve everything.  I have Windows XP.  I'd appreciate any input.

    No.
All iTunes content on your iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and your iTunes library on your computer should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data - stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
When music was purchased on a CD, if the CD was lost and you returned to the store where the CD was purchased with your receipt, were you given a replacement CD?
    The same applies here.

  • Hey there, I recently got myself a new MacBook, but I don't want to put all the information I had on my old one on my new MacBook. So I gotta ask, can I back up my new MacBook without deleting all the information from my other MacBook?

How can I access the information on time capsule? Im sorry about asking, but I never tried before.

Your new MB will create a new backup sparsebundle.. the old one will not be touch.
You can restore just the files and directories you want by doing a manual type restore.
