Connecting macbook pro to tv

hi, does anyone knows how i can connect my macbook pro to my daewoo LCD tv (19'' model DLT-19W4T). Thanks!

Did you read the user manual that came w/the TV.  It should tell you what cables you need and how to connect.
Also, do a forum search as this question is asked 100xs over.  Instructions may be also on the YouTube How To website for your model MBP & TV.

    Hi m,
It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.
Or if your MBP is older than that and you have a Mini DisplayPort, you can use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has.

  • How to connect MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50

Any experience with cables for connecting MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50 (or similar)?

It depend upon the model (age) of you MBP.  If you have a Thunderbolt or minidisplay port, then you will need a minidisplay/HDMI adapter.
    eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMI/
Or you can get an all in one:
    http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Premium-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B004CADYD O/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361985588&sr=1-3&keywords=minidisplay+hd mi
If you have an older mac with a DVI port, you will need something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable-6ft-Male-Male/dp/B0002CZHN6
Note that audio is supported via HDMI for MBPs 2010 and later.  Earlier ones require tapping the audio output port.
    Ciao.

However, I still don't get a view of anything on the desktop except for the standard Apple swirl.
Can you drag windows to the other display?
In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

  • Update: audio problems connecting macbook pro to insignia TV: resolved

There have been posts from users who have expressed frustration that they cannot get audio when they attempt to connect their macbook pro to an Insignia TV.

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2192206
Insignia customer service also attempts to state that the pre-April 2010 macbook pros cannot get audio output to the TV, because the units are designed to get the audio on the same HDMI and no alternative audio input is available on the TV.

For the Insignia models (from 2010 onwards and possible some from 2009 as well), there is a simple workaround that does not seem to be published elsewhere on the internet (as far as I can see):
Use the HDMI port 1 only (audio does not work with port 2, port 3 or port 4) to connect your macbook and you will receive 1080p video signal.
Use a mini stereo audio cable (example link below) and connect your macbook audio output to a designated green color coded audio port on the TV located right next to the VGA. You will receive full stereo audio.
Example link for mini stereo audio cable:

I recently acquired a new Insignia TV and had sound trouble.  I went to Best Buy to inquire about the cable in the link above and the sales manager had doubts.  He recommended a RCA cable with a male connection at both ends.  The RCA jack is on the bottom edge of the TV display next to the VGA connection.  The sound worked perfectly using the RCA cable from the headphone jack on the Mac.  I connected the video with a HDMI adapter from the monitor mirroring port.

Can't connect macbook pro to internet with airport extreme

If you have ethernet still on your MBP plug it in by ethernet and tell me if that works.
Tell me how the Airport is setup.. what broadband modem and router you have.
What OS on the laptop? Yosemite I guess.. since it is the most troublesome.
Did it work before whatever change was made? Has it worked in the past? When did it stop and what did you do that coincided with it stopping?
    Upgrade to Yosemite??

Having the exact same problem with connecting ML and Snow Leopard machines to a Windows 8.1 machine. Oddly enough, connecting and copying to/from works perfectly from a Mavericks machine, despite the problems reported about Mavericks regarding the exact opposite. An old thread, but did you find a solution?

  • HT201180 What type of Fire Wire cable to use to connect MacBook Pro 2009 to tape-based Sony TRV720 camcorder

What type of Fire Wire cable to use to connect MacBook Pro 2009 to tape-based Sony TRV720 camcorder

USB is the slowest. Firewire is faster. eSata is the fastest (and will be superceded by Thunderbolt).  The old Fire was 4 pin (Firewire 400 and is essentially obsolete), new is 9 pin, Firewire 800.  All of the will transmit data, simply a different speeds.
For eSata connectivity, you MBP must have an express card slot (and the appropriate eSata connection card) and you external enclosure must have an eSata input.  eSata cables will only transmit data, therefor it will require power by Firewire or USB cables.
    Ciao.

  • Re:  Not getting audio from TV when connecting MacBook Pro with all correct cables.

How do I get audio from the TV when connecting MacBook Pro with all the correct cables?

    Hi Lynn,
If you're positive you have the correct cables, and positive they work, they must be plugged into an input on the TV made for that purpose, then that input must be selected on the TV's menu.

  • Trying to connect Macbook Pro and IMac...suggestions?

Trying to connect Macbook Pro and IMac with Apple Remote desktop or a cable.  They do share a wifi router.
    Thanks much!

not sure if you found an answer to this.  I just got a mb pro and want it to connect to my imac (late 2009).  I set up sharing on hte imac, file sharing and dvd/cd sharing.  from the mbpro i simply went to finder>go>connect to server.  I entered the name as on my imac (xxx.local) and immediately connected.  This was a massive help to me as I had some software (aperture, office for mac) that were on drive and the new mbpro doesn't have a disk drive.  through sharing I could access the disc drive remotely via my mbpro and load the software that way.  worked beautifully on my wifi (which is apple airport extreme).
    Hope this helps.

  • Using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect Macbook Pro (2009) for a presentation via projector.

When I connect my Macbook Pro (2009 model) using a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to display a presentation via projector, only the top-left portion of what is displayed on my Macbook Pro's screen is displayed on the projector, as though I zoomed in on that portion of my screen. The projector is on and the adapter and the cable that connects the adapter to the projector machine is correctly connected. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Hi glraczon.support,
It sounds like the external display you are using (projector) operates at a smaller resolution than your MacBook Pro. You may want to configure the display preferences in System Preferences for the external projector.
Here is an article that may help you with that process:

  • Connecting Macbook Pro to TV via S-Video or Composite video

    Hi,
I own a Macbook Pro mid 2010 model, and I was wanting to connect it to my somewhat old TV. The TV itself has a input for S-video and the regular RCA composite inputs, no HDMI, VGA, or DVI. I purchased a miniDisplay Port to DVI adapter and a DVI to Video Adapter. I tried to get it to work but to my dismay it didn't because the number of pins between the 2 adapters were different (something about DVI-I and DVI-D). But although I am not too happy about wasting my money I still want to connect my macbook to my TV. Is there anyway I can get that to happen? I also have to miniDisplay port to VGA adapter if that makes a difference.
    Thanks,
    Teague

    This should do it:

  • How do I  connect MacBook Pro without mini-display port to my HDMI TV?

I have a MacBook Pro computer purchased around 2008. I want to connect it to my Panasonic HDMI TV; however, this MacBook Pro doesn't have a mini-display port. Is there a work around? I would like audio & video.
Thanks so much in advance for any help.

You will need a [DVI-to-HDMI adapter|http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&pid=2029&seq=1&format=2], a standard HDMI cable to connect the adapter to your TV set, and an audio cable with a headphone plug on one end to connect to your MBP's headphone port and two RCA plugs on the other to connect your your TV's audio inputs. I know of no way you can get audio into the HDMI cable.

  • How to connect Macbook Pro using thunderbolt to older TV

Hi everyone. I'm trying to view streaming video from my MacBook Pro using the thunderbolt port to an older TV that doesn't appear to have an HDMI port (probably not an HD TV). I've tried using the VGA and S-Video (TV has both ports) using adapters, and tried F8 but nothing works. I am trying not to buy a Roku or similar right now, and have a variety of cables and adapters. Ideas anyone?
I know that VGA and S-Video won't carry audio, assume I can just connect an audio cable to the earphone port right?
    Thanks in advance! Kate

"Note that you'll have to change the input/source to the input you used from the MBP." Can you elaborate a bit?
Let's say you have 2, 3 or 4 different things hooked up to your TV (Tivo, DVD player, X-Box). The TV needs to know which one you want to watch, so you have to select the proper input (the place where the Tivo etc. is hooked up to). This is called the input or source, and needs to be selected in the TV's menu. Make sense?
