Connecting my ereader

I have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions, but when I open my file on my desktop my Sony PRS-T1 ereader is not showing up on the left hand side for me to download ebooks into. I do have it plugged into my computer via my usb cable.

Hey,
Thank you for the reply. Turns out my (modem) DSL cable was in the wrong plug socket (how silly do I feel). It was in the one with the <....> as opposed to the one with the dots all around. Both computers are working with the internet now.
Thanks for your time and advice.

  • Having trouble "finding" my ereader (nook) on adobe digital reader

    I downloaded adobe digital editions and authorized my computer.  I downloaded a book from freading.  When I close digital editions, connect my ereader and than launch digital editions, it does not see my reader.  I have also had digital editions up and than connected my nook but no luck.

    Are you viewing some page in the web browser on your Android tablet or phone?
    If each payslip is a PDF document, the web browser should automatically start downloading it for you.
    If you do not see "Complete action using" dialog, do you see the down arrow icon(s) in the status bar at the top, instead?
    Swipe down from the top to open the Notifications.  The downloaded PDF document should be shown in the Notifications.
    Tap the PDF file name.
    Tap Adobe Reader in the "Complete action using" dialog.
    Tap Just once.
    The PDF document will be opened in Adobe Reader.
    Please let us know if you have any problems with the steps above.

    Authorizing your ereader with ADE
    In most cases you can register your ereader quickly and simply. IF the following instructions do not work, please contact our ereader manufacturer directly.
    1. Connect your ereader to your computer.
    2. The ADE Authorize Device  window will pop up. [On rare occasions where the pop up does not happen automatically, please try pressing CTRL + SHIFT + E after connecting your ereader.]
    3. Click on Authorize Device.
    4. ADE should now recognize your ereader, and will list it within the “Bookshelves” area of the ADE window.
    Note: Nook readers come with an Adobe ADE type directory preinstalled. It MUST be deleted from the Nook before ADE will recognize the Nook. Delete the directory from the Nook. Fire up ADE and everything works perfectly!

    Set your Computer to work with our eBook provider
    1.  Download and install Adobe Digital Editions. This software requires  Flash.
    2. Open up Adobe Digital Editions. It will ask you to activate  your software with an Adobe ID.
    3. If you create an Adobe ID:
    a.  You may download the book to more than one computer as long as the  computers all
    use the same Adobe ID. (Up to 6 computers can be  activated using one Adobe ID.)
    b. You can transfer your eBooks only  to Nooks that are using the same Adobe ID.
    4. If you decide to  continue anonymously:
    a. You will not be able to transfer eBooks to  your Nook!
    b. You may only download to one computer.
    c. You can  activate an Adobe ID at any time. However, you may lose the rights to  see any
    eBooks that were downloaded previously.
    5. We recommend  that you create an Adobe ID. Follow the steps to do so.
    6. Activate  your Nook by plugging it into your computer with Adobe Digital Editions  open.
    7. Adobe Digital Editions will detect your Nook and ask to  activate it using the same Adobe ID as
    your copy of Adobe Digital  Editions. Follow the prompts. (It may take a few minutes for Digital
    Editions  to see your Nook.)
    Getting your eBook on  to your Nook
    1. Open up Adobe Digital Editions.
    2. Plug in your Nook. If you have not previously set it up, Adobe   Digital Editions will ask to register
    your Nook using the same Adobe  ID as your Digital Editions.
    3. Your Nook will appear on the left  under Bookshelves.
    4. To transfer your eBook to the Nook, click on  your previously  downloaded eBooks and drag them
    to the Nook icon.  The book will transfer.
    5. Unplug your Nook.
    6. To find your new  eBook, go to My Library.
    7. On the touch screen, scroll up until  you see My Documents.
    8. Your new book will be in My Documents.
    9. Enjoy!

  • Activation /authorisation problems please help distraught daughter

    I hope someone can help me.
    I bought my daughter a Sony Touch ereader for her birthday because she was envious of mine which I have had for a year and love.  I had to go to work on her birthday so she was on her own when she set it up and I'm not entirely sure what she has done.  As far as I can make out she installed Adobe Digital Editions about a month ago knowing that she was going to get an ereader and downloaded some ebooks to start with thinking she could transfer them to the ereader when she got it.  I think she got herself an Adobe ID at the time but as far as ADE goes I suspect she did not authorise her computer with that ID at the time.
    When she installed her ereader, ADE prompted her to authorise her computer which she did using the Adobe ID.  She also bought some more ebooks which she transferred to her ereader no problem. However she still couldn't open any of the ebooks she bought before authorising.  She has only ever used the one laptop for all of this so the issue with two separate accounts on two different computers should not apply.
    I had a look at all the troubleshooting sites I could find and it suggested deauthorising and reauthorising the computer.  That's when it all went pearshaped.  She now can't open ANY of the purchased ebooks even the ones she could open previously.  The ereader properties said it was authorised for Adobe DRM content and it had the right Adobe ID address.  But when she tries to open them it says she is not authorised to preview the book.  I have checked she used the same adobe ID and password for everything so it's not that
    One of the things one always tries is uninstalling and reinstalling problem software.  So I tried reinstalling ADE to make sure we had the most up to date version. But then it didn't recognise the ereader.  WHSmith ebooks customer support said to download ADE yet again. I have now hit the too many activations problem.  She has submitted a case through the web based support portal case number #0181349188 to get her permitted number of activations reset because we can't do anything until that is sorted out.
    However I don't think that will solve the problem because as far as I could tell the computer was authorised properly but it would not recognise the ebooks downloaded before it was deauthorised and reauthorised.  I don't know why it's an issue because it's not as if she has tried to transfer content from or to different computers or devices, she only has the one laptop.
    Please can anyone help me sort this out.  She is absolutely distraught as she has spent all her birthday money on ebooks she can't now open and as she is a student she can't just afford to write off the loss. And I feel sick about it because I thought she'd be thrilled with her new toy
    I'm reasonably computer literate and I have never had any problem with my own Sony ereader (but then I tend to read the ...manual).  I use my own ereader with a different computer by the way so I don't think it's a conflict. But I am stumped by this.  Her laptop is about a year old a Sony Vaio running Vista Home edition.  The registry may be a bit cluttered but although I can reinstall Windows if I have to I have never attempted a registry edit

    I am a very happy woman!! (And I have a very happy daughter)
    Thank you so much for your help.  I still don't know what she did but it seems to be fixed
    I  got an error message when I connected the ereader saying a problem occurred while installing the Ereader software on your computer and I still couldn't open some of the ebooks even though I could open them in ADE so my heart sank.  However I deleted the problem titles from the ereader and reimported them  and then they were fine. I don't know what the error in installing the software was as it seems to be fully functional albeit rather slow to import large titles
    She has been given strict instructions not to muck around with anything
    Happy Christmas!!

  • How can i download adobe editions on my nook?

    I want to download ebooks from my library from my computer to my nook. The Nook people tell me that I need to download adobe digital editions to my nook, but I have not been able to do this. Can you help me?

    You didn't say if it is a Nook dedicated eReader or a Nook tablet.
    In either case, you can't download Digital Editions (ADE) to it.
    For an eReader you need to download ADE to a computer, and connect the eReader to the computer by USB.
    It should then show up as a device on the left hand panel of ADE.
    Some devices fail to show up in ADE2.0, in that case install the older but more reliable ADE1.7.2 (see below).
    For a tablet, you need to install a compatible eReader app such as Bluefire or Aldiko.
    Then copy the books using a file manager (e.g. Windows Explorer or Finder) to the drive the tablet should be mounted as.
    Or maybe try the Overdrive app if you only want it for library books.
    Overdrive can borrow and download library books with no need for a PC/Mac,
    but quite a few people have problems with authorizing Overdrive on Android.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
    (You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
    Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
  • Prior Books Blocked
    Long question - sorry. I have had a sony ereader for some years. In 2010 I used my laptop to buy/load and obviously had an adobe account at that time. Then, because it was easier, i used by desktop computer (end 2010 onwards) to do this. But yesterday, it all went WRONG !!
    I had been offered an upgrade by sony site - which i did - and then when i tried to access 'store' the website was all wrong/distorted - so i couldn't actually buy any books.  So, i thought (seemed simple at the time) that I would use the laptop.
    I had to download latest version of AD - as had a much earlier version 2010 on the laptop - that went ok.
    it prompted me for adobe id - which was ok - but then i changed it because the id was so old and i no longer used that format - so that got updated.  Seem to recall (tho it is somewhat hazy now) being asked if i wanted to transfer ? and i would have said yes ?
    Anyway I went on to store - and purchased some books - which i downloaded ok - and connected by ereader - and they synched across.
    BUT - it would only let me access the books i had just purchased. When i tried to access the other 300+ books it said that they were drm protected !
    Have a substantial investment that i can't access.
    what should i do ?
    Could you upload the book by now?  You may be connecting to the wrong Print Products Store. Check, that the "Region" settings in "System Preferences > Language & Region" are set to the country you are in.
    Otherwise check the things listed in this post:
                                    aperture 3.5.1 can not upload and buy an album.
    When you register your ereader with SONY, you'll need to make sure that the
    Reader Library entries were created on your hard drive for the ereader to
    Also, there have been some problems with the PRS-T1 model.
    I have two ereaders a T1 and T2.  I've had the T1 for a long time and when I connect to my PC, the PC Readers SW will launch automatically and I can sync books to the ereader.  When I connect the T2 it maps another drive but will not connect with the PC Sony Reader application.  How do I sync books to the second, T2, ereader?
    Good afternoon rtulloch.
    I am very sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your Sony Reader PRST2. We have some troubleshooting steps that you can try to solve this issue, first we are going to try a soft reset and if that doesn't fix the issue, you will need to perform a hard reset, but if you do the hard reset, everything will be deleted and the Reader will go back to factory settings.
    Yep, Apple makes adaptors to go from the mini DVI on the macbook to almost any type of input that you TV will have. First check the back of your tube to find out what kind of input it has, and order the appropriate adaptor.
  • How do I get my ereader to appear on the left hand side of Digital Editions?
    I have a Kobo Vox ereader and it works well.  It connects to my computer and appears  when I look at My Computer.  It doesn not appear on the left hand side of Digital Editions under Devices (devices does not appear either) when ADE is started.  The book I downloaded appears in ADE and is readable in ADE.  How do I get the Kobo to appear within ADE so I can transfer the book.  ADE does not seem to see the device to ask me to register it as the help screen suggest it might.  I've made sure that it is connected before I open ADE.  Please help.
    The eReader is authorized/activated with an AdobeID rather than with a computer.
    It is possible to have multiple computers and multiple devices all authorized with the same ID.
    The eReader gets its authorization when you Authorize Device from any computer;
    and then should work find when connected to any other computer authorized with the same ID.
    ~~~
    One possible reason for your issue is that you haven't authorized the laptop with your AdobeID.
    In that case ADE generates an anonymous/implicit ID with very limited capabilities.
    In particular, one capability missing is the ability to pass the implicit ID onto a device;
    so it is possible (???) that in that case ADE does not show the device.
    If that is the case
    ctrl-shift-D to ADE (cmd-shift-D if it's a Mac) on the laptop to remove the anonymous ID
    restart ADE (maybe not needed)
    authorize ADE with the same ID as you are using on the desktop
    restart ADE (maybe not needed)
    plug in the eReader and see if it is recognized
