Connectivity Error After Upgrading to Yosemite

When trying to scan using HP Utility after upgrading to Mac OS Yosemite, I receive the following error:
An error occurred while communicating with the HP imaging device.  Try the following steps.  After each step, try scanning again.
- Turn off and then unplug the device, wait 60 seconds, and plug in and turn on the device.
- Make sure that the device’s power cord and cable are properly attached, plugged in, and the device is on.
- Reboot the computer.  Uninstall and reinstall the device.
- Reinstall the HP Scan software that came with the device.
- If you continue to receive this error, you may need to request service for your device.
My computer seems to recognize the device on my wireless network but cannot connect to it.  I have tried reinstalling the printer and cycling everything (computer, printer, wireless router) off and on, to no avail.  I just upgraded the driver software through Software Update this week.
Any suggestions?

Hi MASTERNC, and thanks for getting back to me!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would then suggest readding the printer to your system by running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
Good luck and please let me know how it goes!

After upgrading to Yosemite, I lose my connect in SOAS, university of London. Overtime, it rejects me as Authentication fails in this network. Even the school technicianer cannot fix. I wonder how to downgrade or any solution?  I never encounter this issue with Mavericks or the one before.

I also have the internet diagnostic report, but it is nonsense to me to read it.

  • Printer connection errors after upgrade - help

After upgrading to 10.5 - any of our printers that were already established are now not accessible. They give the message - "Attempting to connect to host RNPB5FAE6.local. on port 9100" after a while - then unable to connect will retry. If I delete the printer and reestablish via appletalk it will work. If I use bonjour I end up back at the same problem. What happened? Why is this happening?
I have hundreds of computers that I would have to manually reset - there has to be a better solution. Why is bonjour not working?

Hi, i've just search for the same problem. I suddenly cannot print, following trying to print at 1.3mb (only) 20 page InDesign doc ...my printer in another country gave up on the same printing. it too giving me at '13% complete' reading. i was in a rush to get a return flight to the UK but v much think that clicking 'hold' > 'resume' that it would have also given me - 'Attempting to connect to host '...' on port 9100'.
I've been to the mac store after much googling and was advise to re-install the driver when i got back (installation time would have taken too long in the store)
I've emailed you on this thread as i really think you may have the secret to recovery but have to say that your reply baffles me as it's soooo techie :(( ..what's 'pinging'?... I've had a mac for ages though and am pretty good at sorting things generally so would you have any great advice, not uber techie to help me / others in the future? I would v much appreciate it!
Ps. I have Leopard by the way.
    thanks,

  • ITunes 10.5/iPhone 3Gs Connection Errors after upgrade

I had quite a bit of trouble upgrading iTunes from 10.1x to 10.5. I had to remove ALL Apple products/files/registry entries. After I did this, I ran the installer file (64bit one) directly from the iTunes site. It looked as of everything installed EXCEPT one program installed partially then rolled back the installation of that particular program. The rest of iTunes 10.5 installed with no problems. When I tried to connect my iPhone 3Gs, I received the following error:
I looked in my control panel and noticed Apple Mobile Device Support is missing now. I assume this the the application that was 'rolled back'. I followed the instructions in the error listed above and the exact same thing happens again.  Here is a bit of background on what I have:

This is what I did so far:
Backup up my iPhone before all this started (2 days ago)
Imaged my drive just in case -ALWAYS have backups
Uninstalled ALL Apple products from my PC via the Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs
Cleaned the Registry of all Apple products that I could regognize
Deleted ALL Apple folders from drive
Checked to see if any Apple service was running (none were left)
    Rebooted my PC
Scanned my entire HDD and Registry for all traces of Apple products (none found)
Went to the official iTunes 10.5 site and 'ran' the installed directly from there.
All went well till the one program 'rolled back' once again.
Connected my iPhone and the error listed above remains.
Ran Apple Updater and found that Safari and QuickTime
Installed Safari and QuickTime on a chance that it may help fix or repair something that I may have missed
Cursed/Yelled/Screamed/Cried/Took a chill pill and wrote this plea for help
This may be a bit more info than most want to see, but on the chance the Apple Support personnel actually look at this post, I want them to see the full details. I work in the IT field, so complex answers are ok to post. I am willing to try just about anything at this point. I appreciate any replies and will give more details as requested that involve this issue.

This is an update to my original post...
I was able to install iTune 10.5 finally, but Apple Mobile Device Support will still not install (update actually). I restored my PC to an earlier state (before I first tried to install 10.5 the first time) and now my older version will not start since my iTunes library has been upgraded to the 10.5 format. I am really stuck here. I really want to get me music back since I have nearly 30 Gbs of music and movies I have burned from CDs. That does not even include my iTunes online purchases that I can easily revover/re-download.

  • Connection error after upgrade to 4.1

    Hi -
I have upgraded to 4.1 EA2, but when I connect to 12c pluggable database, which was previously working fine with older version, I am getting the following error.
"An error was encountered performing the requested operation:  IO Error: Invalid connection string format, a valid format is: "host:port:sid"   Vendor code 17002"
    Regards,
    Omar

Everything is NOT correct, or we'd be able to connect.
    >>Do you still have the older version of SQLDev installed - does the connection still work there?
Or, are you able to connect to your 12c PDB with any other client?
By the way, 12c PDB connections require you use SERVICE, not a SID.
It might help if you show us your connection properties.

  • Java error after upgrading to Yosemite

I updated my Imac to OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.2 .  I updated Java to V8 update 31. I got an error message when opening InDesign (and PS and IL) which said I needed to add Java. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the CS Suite but still get the error. What should I try next? I am so frustrated! I have spent hours on this and can't get any work done! My CS suite is version 5, though I think before I reinstalled it I was on version 5.5.

    Try Apple Java 2014-001.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version"

After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version".  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry,
Yes, the error message is exactly like that  ("Database error: failured to persist version")
No photos will import at all.  I use USB to import from iPhone 5s or iPad 2.
About the difference?  iPhoto and Photos .  Are there two softwares?
I also will like to merge and/or synchronize all my photos I had saved to iCloud backups, Macbook Pro,  iPhone 5s and iPad hard drives using iPhoto.  It's call iPhoto library.  At one point I turned off streaming.
    Thanks again Larry HN.

  • TS1277 "iPhoto was unable to connect to Photo Stream" error after upgrading to mountain lion

Has anyone gotten this error after upgrading to mountain lion on a computer that already had a user setup on it?
My iphoto was working with photostream and now it will not connect at all.
I ran fix disk permissions and once it showed up in iphoto, photostream was loading and then it disappeared again.
    help!

FWIW I fixed mine when I realised I'd probably downloaded iPhoto using an AppleID from the App Store but logged into iCloud with a different AppleID. I deleted iPhoto and it's related files (but not the iPhoto Library) using CleanApp, entered the App Store with my usual AppleID and downloaded iPhoto again. Once the App Store, the downloaded iPhoto and iCloud logins were the same iPhoto Stream worked again.

    Hi netaanya,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
Your iPhone 4s does work with Continuity, but only phone calls. Please refer to the attached article for more information.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
Handoff is supported by the following iOS devices and requires iOS 8. Instant Hotspot requires one of these iPhone or iPad devices with cellular connectivity and iOS 8.1. Instant Hotspot also requires Personal Hotspot service through your carrier.
    Phone 5 or later
iPhone 4s (sharing iPhone calls only)
iPad (4th generation), iPad Air, iPad Air 2
iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPad mini 3
    iPod touch (5th generation)

  • After upgrading to yosemite, cannot login as mobile user

After upgrading to Yosemite, I can no longer log on to the Mavericks server as a mobile user. The password prompt is first on the server instead, because only after I do I remove all network connections or disable, I can log in.
The connection to the server is running AFP. If I remove the binding in the user settings, then it goes without problems. Also, the Sync works to profile server. I create the new binding, I can do this only with no name / password, otherwise it returns an error message.
What can be the problem? Must necessarily be 4.0 installed Yosemite or server on the server?
    Thanks for a tip!
    Zeljko

Quick tip: try logging in and don't use capitals or spaces in your username.

  • After upgrading  to Yosemite, I can't print on Okidata c5150n

After upgrading  to Yosemite, I can't print on Okidata c5150n.  Oki is of no help.  I am connected by ethernet.

For those trying to use an Oki C5150n printer with OS X Yosemite, the fix is now available.  One must use the driver for the Oki C5800Ldn printer from the Oki support page because the Yosemite compatible driver does not yet appear on the page for the C5150n.  However at Oki customer support's direction I have loaded and used this driver, and so far it is working just fine.  To download the driver use the link at the end of this comment and navigate to the OS.X.10 download option under "find a driver".  Be advised that one must remove the Oki printer from the list in the "Printers and Scanners" system preference window and then re-create it de novo after installing the new driver as the old one will not work.  Unfortunately this means that any documents left hanging in the print queue prior to installation of the new driver will be lost.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite, I am unable to share screen with Macbook Pro

After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10 on a 2008 MacBook Pro I am unable to "Share Screen" using my authorized user account.  It worked fine before I upgraded to Yosemite.
I can access "Share Screen" by "requesting permission", but of course this doesn't work unless I am sitting right by the MacBook Pro to give myself permission, which defeats my original purpose for using "Share Screen".
I attempted to add another authorized "Share Screen" user account, but was unable to access the list of add "Groups and Users" on the host MacBook Pro from the "Share Screen" dialog box.  The dialog box pops up, when I press "+" to add another user, but the list of users fails to appear.  I assume the list of authorized users for screen share has somehow become corrupt.
All other ways to access "sharing user" accounts appear to be working properly.  I can add and remove other "sharing users" without problems.  For example, I can add a new authorized "file share" user and share files without problems.
I ran Disk Utility in Recovery Mode and normal mode and corrected all errors, and user permissions on both machines.  I also ran "resetpassword" from Terminal in Recovery Mode and "reset" user permissions.  I am not an experienced Terminal or Recovery Mode user though.
I also tried turning the Firewall off, to no avail.
I am attempting to access "Screen Share" on the MacBook Pro via a Macbook Air 13" manufactured mid 2013 also with Yosemite 10.10, however, I also attempted with an older MacBook Air which experiences the same problem.

Thanks for the idea but it did not work, I do not know why it is asking me for a password which I never needed before for a guest to use the computer?  I have tried everything and I do not know which password it wants?   I do not see any option for a password for the guest account, to create one or delete one or modify it?  Maybe this bug\problem will be addressed in a future update?

  • Time machine fails backing up with a "backup disk not found" error after upgrade to Lion 10.7.2

Time machine fails backing up with a "backup disk not found" error after upgrade to Lion 10.7.2. I've erased and reformatted the drive; reconnected Time Machine(it saw it) and began a new backup. The backup starts again but fails before completing with backup drive not found error. I used the 10.7.2 combo update. Any help on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

    Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
After waiting since October for a fix, I have now upgraded the firmware on the Time Capsule and installed the new Airport Utility, released yesterday, and the situation is even worse.
Up until now, the Airport Utility had an option to disconnect all drives manually and the Time Capsule would then work until the next reboot – a temporary (?) work-around.
Now that option does not exist in the new-look Airport Utility. And the Airport Utility installation can’t be rolled back and the old utility won’t restore.
The sparesbundle is still not accessible. Anyone worked out a work-around in the new environment yet?
I have another Time Machine backup working fine to a trusty old Lacie Drive so erased the one on my Time Capsule to see if that works. I have renamed the Capsule and the Time Capsule Drive.  But to build another full backup will take at least two days and I shall be away from tomorrow and am reluctant to leave the Capsule and computer up and running for a week. And I’ll bet the sparsbundle will still be nowhere to be found.
How can Apple screw up so badly when they are to become the richest company in the entire world and – soon – will have more cash in the bank than the entire United States? Can’t they afford someone who really can sort this out? Especially when a Firewire connected hard drive – my trusty and simple LaCie – works fine.
    Words, almost, fail me.
