CONNOT get A/V to work in Ichat PLEASE HELP.

I know that this is a common posting on the discussion forms but for whatever reason I CANNOT get a/v conferencing to work. I live 40 miles away from my girlfriend and sometimes don't get to see her for weeks and video ichat was one way for us to see each other without breaking our wallets on gas. It worked 95% of the time up untill a month ago then for whatever reason it stoped working and as far as I know we both did nothing different to our computers. I thought maybe it was something with both our networks, but nothing changed on my side and I talked to her dad who(Who is in charge of her network), and he said that he didn't do anything different.
So I am at a lose as to what is the problem. I have been trying everything for the past month and nothing. I would love any input to make this work I will post my error report and see if anybody can make heads or tails of it. Thank you.

What I would do is, rather than creating an id for the second kind of blockquote, use a class that only changes the width and other attributes you want changed from the base blockquote element...
Somewhere after your current blockquote css...
blockquote.classname {
     attribute:value;
     attribute:value;
Then in the html, you'd still use a standard blockquote element, with a class...
<blockquote class="classname">
     content
</blockquote>
You could use an ID too, but id's can only be used once on a given page, so a class is better if there might be multiple uses.

  • Can't get my wireless to work.. PLEASE HELP!!!

     I thought I was computer savvy and told a friend at work that has an issue with her internet that I could fix it. I am having more trouble than I thought. She told me it was a Windows 7 and it is a Dell Windows XP Professional service pack 3. I am not
    very familiar with them.
    She told me that she had uninstalled some programs she felt were slowing her computer down and now her wireless is not working the light is not on, the switch is on but when I go into network adapters all there is, is a 1394 Net Adapter and a Broadcom NetXtreme
    and it acts like it needs a cable plugged in to get online when she has never had to use a cable before. I can not find anywhere where there is wireless settings or anything.
    Someone please help, this lady is super nice and I would hate to let her down. I have the computer here with me now and if anyone could help I would appreciate is so much

    Unfortunately your post is off topic here, in the TechNet Site Feedback forum, because it is not Feedback about the TechNet Website or Subscription.  This is a standard response I’ve written up in advance to help many people (thousands, really.)
    who post their question in this forum in error, but please don’t ignore it.  The links I share below I’ve collected to help you get right where you need to go with your issue.
    For technical issues with Microsoft products that you would run into as an
    end user of those products, one great source of info and help is
    http://answers.microsoft.com, which has sections for Windows, Hotmail, Office, IE, and other products. Office related forums are also here:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/contact-us-FX103894077.aspx
    For Technical issues with Microsoft products that you might have as an
    IT professional (like technical installation issues, or other IT issues), you should head to the TechNet Discussion forums at
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us, and search for your product name.
    For issues with products you might have as a Developer (like how to talk to APIs, what version of software do what, or other developer issues), you should head to the MSDN discussion forums at
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us, and search for your product or issue.
    If you’re asking a question particularly about one of the Microsoft Dynamics products, a great place to start is here:
    http://community.dynamics.com/
    If you really think your issue is related to the subscription or the TechNet Website, and I screwed up, I apologize!  Please repost your question to the discussion forum and include much more detail about your problem, that could include screenshots
    of the issue (do not include subscription information or product keys in your screenshots!), and/or links to the problem you’re seeing.
    If you really had no idea where to post this question but you still posted it here, you still shouldn’t have because we have a forum just for you!  It’s called the Where is the forum for…? forum and it’s here:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/whatforum/
    Moving to off topic.

  • 3G AT&T air cards not working with iChat, Please Help!!!

    We have a macbook air, a black macbook and a macbook pro running 10.5.2. We can do audio and video conferencing with the local network with either airport or ethernet with the regular internet service provider. When we switch to the air cards (AirCard 875 USB) they can connect and chat but when they try to do video conferencing an error comes up saying that, well, en error had occurred. switching back to the local network, and all works fine. I'm sure we're not the only people using these cards using iChat so if anybody has come across this or similar issues please comment on this, thank you.

    That was the older post. at this point we can forget about firewalls and airport. this is all thru the air cards. mentioning the local network (which does not have a firewall) was to point out that iChat seems to work fine and it's not a software issue in the computer end of it. Unless we can go into the aircard's settings and open ports there... if that makes any sense?

  • Can't get my WiFi to work...Please help!

    Ok so today i went and bought a new laptop and after setting it up when i got home i tried to connect to my Fios internet via the wifi signal my modem/router sends out and every time i connect it says "limited access" and i can't browse the net or anything. What am i doing wrong? Any help would be awesome! Thank you.

    Should that same thing work for me?  My Palm Pre picked up our Wifi here at the house just fine....switched to a Nexus S 4G and it tells me either it's out of range OR remembered with WEP security and then switches immediately to disabled, secured with WEP.  The symbol shows a "strong locked"...
    spacedebris wrote:
    Limited access usually means you have the wrong password.
    When you connected, you entered the WEP key number as your password right? This is located on a sticker on the side of the router. Make sure that you are entering it correctly. Also make sure that you are using 0's (zero's) not o's (oh's), 1's (ones) not i's (eyes) or l's (ells).
    Now on my wep key, my sticker looks like it has an 8 but its actually a B. So you may want to use a computer that is already on the internet to log into the router and make sure that the key on the sticker is actually the one assigned to the router.
    With a computer that is already connected (or hard wire this new computer temporarilly). Open your browser and go to 192.168.1.1  The login should be "admin" and "password" or "password1". Once logged in, click on "wireless networks" at the top and it will display a page with the SSID and WEP key that are currently on the router. Make sure those match what you are entering. If not, enter the ones listed here.
    that should get you up and going.

      padding: 10px 10px 10px 47px;
      quotes: none;
      line-height: 25px;
      border-radius: 10px;
      box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #bababa;
    Here is a picture to see what it looks like:
    So I need to make a block quote elsewhere on the site but in a narrower area because the above will be cut off.  So I thought I could just copy the code and make a new one and modify it:
    #blockquote2, q, quote {
      background: #ece5d0 url(../images/quote.png) no-repeat;
      font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
      font-size: 18px;
      font-style: italic;
      width: 620px;
      margin: 5px 0;
      padding: 10px 10px 10px 47px;
      quotes: none;
      line-height: 25px;
      border-radius: 10px;
      box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #bababa;
    I first tried "blockquote2" without a DIV like "<blockquote2> and that did not work so I then made it a DIV like above and it still does not work.  Here's a result of it (no quote styling like above):
    As you'll see the width (620) is important to fit into the column.    Here is the code i'm putting onto the page to try to create the quote:
    <div id="blockquote2"><br /><p align="left">NOAA’s mission touches the lives of every American and we are proud of our role in protecting life and property and conserving and protecting natural resources. I hope you will explore NOAA and how our products and services can enrich your own life.</p>
    <p align="right"><strong>Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, NOAA Administrator         </strong></p></div>
    But anyway, can someone tell me why this isn't working and offer a fix?  Any help is appreciated.  thanks.

    What I would do is, rather than creating an id for the second kind of blockquote, use a class that only changes the width and other attributes you want changed from the base blockquote element...
    Somewhere after your current blockquote css...
    blockquote.classname {
         attribute:value;
         attribute:value;
    Then in the html, you'd still use a standard blockquote element, with a class...
    <blockquote class="classname">
         content
    </blockquote>
    You could use an ID too, but id's can only be used once on a given page, so a class is better if there might be multiple uses.

    Routers: Any configurable device that sits between your computer and the internet link you have.
    Routers seem to fall into two categories
    Those that work straight from the box. See Apple Doc 93333
    NOTE
    This Doc has not been updated since Jan 04
    and those that do not.
    This post will deal with what you may need to look at.
    First off make sure your device is acting as a DHCP server. (if you are already on the internet you may not have to bother with this.)
    Check in the Network Preference Pane, in the "Built in Ethernet" option from the "Show" drop down list.
    Make sure the TCP/IP tab is the 'front' one. You should be able to see Configure IPv4 and it most likely reads Using DCHP. Make a note of your IP address. It will start 10.xxx.xxx.xxx or 192.168.xxx.xxx (the 'x' s will stand for any number between 1 and 255).
    Your router is most likely to be configurable from your browser. You will need to find the IP address to type into the browser from any Readme or PDF files that came on the install disk or visit the makers website and download a manual.
    DMZ Demilitarised Zone
    This is a less secure setting that basically opens all ports and points the incoming data to your computer. (not helpful if you have more than one computer on your LAN)
    NAT Sometimes called NAPT and related to Port Forwarding (also Virtual Server or Pin Holes)
    These settings are usually found in an Advanced setting.
    You will need to set an incoming IP address (Usually 0.0.0.0 for any outside server), a port that data will arrive on, the Inside computers IP address (your computer) and the port it will deal with the data on and the protocol it will use.
    iChat uses TCP and UDP so some devices will need the settings done twice, once for each protocol.
    See Apple Doc 93208 for more information.
    Note:
    Note 1 should read:
    1. All iChat AV traffic is UDP except for ports 5190 and 5298, which need to be open for both TCP and UDP; and 5220, 5222, which need to be open for TCP only.
    UPnP Universal Plug n Play.
    This is a simple Plug and Play type of setting. iChat can find it's own way through a router if the device has this capability.
    Trigger Ports
    Some devices offer a security measure that works by a first or trigger port receiving a data packet and then opening further ports when accepted.
    The first port for incoming Video or Audio invites is port 5678. When you click on the invite window the process moves to port 5060 (so these will need to be opened by the trigger port) for negotiating the final group of ports from the group of 20 (16384-16403 These will need to open when the trigger says so as well). Therefore port 5678 triggers ports 5678, 5060, 16384-16403. All on UDP. Port 5190 neeeds to trigger port 5190 for both TCP and UDP
    Wireless
    Here you will have to read around but this Apple Doc 58514 might be a good starting place.
    Multiple devices
    Make sure only one is acting as a DHCP server. Make sure wireless devices are bridged properly.

  • I cannot get airport extreme to work. Can you help me?

    I have a G5 Power PC. I recently purchased a macbook and an Airport Extreme. I cannot get the airport to work. Can somebody help me please??
    G5 Power PC and macbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   new OS X on Macbook

    I plug the ethernet from the airport to the back of the modem (a Webstar unit) from my cable provider. Then I plug the other cable from the back of the airport into my G5. Then plug in the power cord. I get lots of flashing lights - "thinkin & blinkin", but then I get a message that it cannot locate the server. Even rebooted. I've been waiting for the IT guy to call/email me back me back but no response yet. I'm guessing I may just need a new location, but I'm not wired to think IT-like (I'm a very right brained graphic designer), I I don't want to screw anything up.
    Do I need to just go through a new internet setup?

    I deleted my microsoft office:mac 2011 word from my toolbar. I have Mac OS X version 10.6.8.  I tried to reinstall but it won't work. This has never happened before.  I get an error message each time. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I don't have time machine.

    By Toolbar, do you mean the Dock?  The Translucent bar normally at the bottom of the screen, but sometimes at the right or left side?
    If that's what you mean, the Dock is merely a shortcut to what is already inside the Applications folder's Microsoft Office 2011 folder.  If you have Word inside your Microsoft Office 2011 folder, you can drag it back to the Dock.
    If you deleted the Microsoft Office folder, or it is empty, you'll have to reinstall it.
    If you don't have your registration code, you'll have to call Microsoft for a new one.

    When i disconnect my iPod 2nd Gen from my laptop, its display goes off and working freezes. Please help me.

    The computer freezes?  There may be something wrong with the USB port.  If the laptop has more than one port, does this happen on any port?  If you are disconnecting the shuffle cable from the computer, does it make any difference if you disconnect the shuffle at the other end of the cable first, then disconnect the cable from computer?  Or if you currently disconnect the shuffle from cable first, try it the other way.
    You may be able to work around this problem, if you get a self-powered USB hub.  Something like this one
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/USB2HB7PRO/
    There are many choices, but be sure to get one that has its own power supply.  You can leave the shuffle cable connected to the hub, and connect the shuffle to the hub, instead of directly to the computer.  This may provide a "buffer" for whatever is causing your laptop to shut off when the shuffle is disconnected.  Since the hub has its own power supply, it will not rely on the computer for power to re-charge the battery.

    I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
    iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
    above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
