Consolidation for SAP BPC

HI Gurus,
I have gone through the documentation provided by SAP  for  SAP BPC Admin document
which  just talks about the various business rules available for consolidation.
Can someone o explain in brief the sequence  steps that one needs to follow for consolidation? (e.g. First develop the dimensions - account, entity, etc., then application - finance, rate, ownership, then set up the consolidation rules, then methods, then automatic adjustment detail etc.)
Also it will be helpful if someone can actually describe the required properties in each dimension to perform consolidation?
(e.g. Account needs to have ElimAcc for Eliminations etc.)
Regards
kishan

Hi  Kishan,
For consolidation if your working in BPCNW version, here are the requirements.
In general you have 3 applications...
1.Consolidation-For doing all the consolidation part
                      2.Rate----
For doing all the currency conversions and Elimainations
                      3.Ownership
Here are the  required dimensions dimensions....
                  C_Acct (A)
                  C_Category (C)
                  C_Datasrc (D)
                  Flow (S)
                  Group (R)
                  Entity (E)
                  Intco (I)
                 Time (T)
                 R_Acct (A)
                 InputCurrency(R)
                 Groups(R)
                 O_Acct (A)
these are the basic requirements for legal Consolidation.
The sequance of steps are 1.Load the master data(Dimensions)
                                       2.create the Applications.
3.Load the Appset and Application Parameters.
4.Customizing the Logic(We have the existing logic in BPC-BI use that  Logic).
5.Reports are based on your need.
If your an Finance background you should have known the steps to process the logic i.e sequence of steps.....if not reply me i will let you know..
Hope these helps you...
have a nice day......

  • Pre-Requisite for SAP BPC certification

    Dear Gurus,
Hope you all are good. I am an ABAPER. I want to do SAP BPC certification. Can somebody tell what kind of functional and technical knowledge is required for this certification or to work in BPC. Some told me you need a strong FI/CO knowledge for tis certification some say you need BW technical knowledge for this. I will be highly appreciatibe if someone tells me the pre-requisites or basics in percentage. Can ABAPER moves toward BPC?
My second question is what is the job demand for SAP BPC?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Saida,
Where did you get the information from that "you have to select in which version you need a certification, there may be 2 seperate test for those two" ???
Look at the link below for SAP BPC Certification C_EPMBPC_10.
    https://training.sap.com/shop/certification/c_epmbpc_10-sap-certified-application-associate---sap-business-planning-and-consolidation-100-g/certification-details/
It clearly states that candidate needs to have knowledge on both versions -
It validates that the Associate Consultant has a good sound knowledge and understanding of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation in SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.0, version for SAP NetWeaver and SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.0, version for the Microsoft platform.

  • Hi Do we have tables for SAP BPC EPM Comments ? if we have what are they could you please explain some one.

Hi Do we have tables for SAP BPC EPM Comments ? if we have what are they could you please explain some one.

    Hi Narahari,
Yes, we have tables for SAP BPC EPM comments and it is stored in backend BW.
Please follow the below steps to see it -
    1. Go to RSA1 and find the infoprovider name for the application/cube that contains the comments For example, the infoprovider name is /CPMB/VZIKG4O
    2.  Then Go to SE16 and enter the comment table name.  The comment tables are generated tables.  You can determine there name by using the following rules:
      a.  The table name always starts with '/1CPMB/'
      b.  The rest of the name is derived from the infoprovider name - it is the first two characters after the second '/' + the fourth, fifth and sixth characters + CMT (for comments) or CMTA (for archived comments). In my case the comments table name would be "/1CPMB/VZKG4CMT" and the archived comments table would be "/1CPMB/VZKG4CMTA".
    3.  Hit 'F7' or click the table contents button.
    4.  Enter the criteria for the comments you wish to export.
    Hope this helps.

  • Built-in templates for Legal Consolidation in SAP BPC

    Hi guys
I am doing a demo for legal consolidation and was wondering if there are built-in input scehdules (templates) in SAP BPC to assign the consolidation methods to entities (to let the system know how an entity needs to be rolled up in a group)?
Also are there any input schedules (templates) to enter the Ownership % and Control % for various subsidiaries under a parent?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Ameya Kulkarni

I don't think any of the default applications come with pre-built input templates.  The legal applications does come with a number of pre-configured business rules, but as far as pre-built input templates go none are available.  That being said, it is pretty easy to build a simple input template using the dynamic templates that come with BPC.  Starting with one of these you should be able to configure one of them for your demo without much trouble.  Let me know if you need help with that.

  • Analyzer Security for SAP BPC 7.5 SP6

    Hi ,
We have recently installed Analyzer add-in on our excel for Adhoc reporting on SAP BPC 7.5 SP6
But analyzer is not considering the data security restricted for specific region.
For eg: If a planner is assinged to EUROPE planning role and when he creates reports using analyzer he is able to see the data for all the regions(NA,EMEA,ASIAPAC).
Is there anyway we can restrict the planners to see the data relevant to their role in Analyzer.
we had a look at security in Admin client. Is there anyway to handle this. Thanks much.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev

    Hi,
You can use Bex analyzer for detailed reporting. Both the analyzer and BPC reports can be connected using the normal excel functionalities (in a single excel workbook) so that BPC CV selection will be fed into Bex as variables and relevant data records are displayed in Bex reports. Performance of Bex analyzer is slow. That is one of the main reason it was replaced with BO reporting tools.
If you are using BPC 7.5NW, then there is a standard functionality called DRILL THROUGH. Using this functionality you can drill down to detailed data in BW.
Bex and BPC have different authorizations. You can maintain authorizations in BW roles and try to manually replicate same authorizations in BPC (there is also a how-to doc on automating this synchronization).

  • Stress testing tools for SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft version

    Hi all
I was wondering if there are any stress testing tools that can be used with SAP BPC 7.0 MS to simulate hundreds of users using the application simultaneously and thus testing the performance.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Ameya Kulkarni

There are tools to perform the performance analysis of BPC, one is loadrunner.  But be careful when defining the "hundreds of users using the application simultaneously"; There are many scenarios in my mind, where you could have several hundred users using BPC, but not sending or retrieving data at the exact same time.  You might check the SAP sit eto see if any presentations are posted from the Sapphire conference this Spring.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cache resetting for SAP BPC

    Hello
I have an issue where we have restored SAP BPC back to 6th June 2008 backup, but when I login, I can view reports I created on 20th June 2008.
Would appreciate any help with locating
where the cache files are stored and any ideas why it's not updating?
    regards
    Hina

For the instances where we've had to get support from SAP, we've backed up our AppSet and uploaded it to an FTP site where SAP then would download it.

  • Group GL activation for SAP BPC.

    Dear all,
In one Company we are implementing Planning, IGAAP consolidation and IFRS consolidation.
In accounts GL grouping, all three tracks will be following different groupings. So if we suggest them to update group GL in SAP, we need clarification on the same.
    What are the possible ways?
    1. Do separate grouping in SAP ECC (if its possible?)
    2. Upload Data from BI 3 times (again, how, if its possible?)
    3. Maintain Mapping of GLs in Conversion file (for all 3 tracks i.e Planning, IGAAP Consolidation & IFRS Consolidation)
If not going by best practice suggested by SAP, which is to have planning & consolidation at Group GL level, then it would be with operating GLs !!
What do you suggested, how do we approach this issue ?
Need your inputs from previous client implementation and personal experiences.
If any of you followed Group gl please give us the solution.
Looking forward to your quick reply.
& Thanks for your time in advance.

  • How to build SSIS package for SAP BPC 5.0

Is the above how paper apply to BPC 5.1?
    I also have two questions:
1.As we know in the Data Manager 5.1 user guide indicate that we use DTS to manage  SQL Server 2000 packages, and  SSIS  to manage  SQL Server 2005 packages.
Also in the guide, when it discuss about the data manager package, it only reference DTS, is all the DTS package discussed in that guide apply to SSIS?
    2. from BPC 7.0 NW, the BPC is part of NetWeaver , what role SSIS is play here, since we know that a lot of customer of not use SQL Server  as their database.

    Hi JW,
The answer to your question #2 is that we won't have SSIS packages in BPC7NW since all SQL server based functionality won't be there in Netweaver version. If you use migration tools to migrate from BPC5.x to BPC7NW, it can convert SSIS packages. However any custom SSIS code would have to be converted manually. For more information, please read Ryan's blog at SAP's definitive strategy for planning technologies moving forward: What's the word on BPC, BI-IP and SRC?

  • To have one or two environments for sap bpc 10

          Hi all,
My company has implemented the model the Planning, now want to implement the model Consolidation,
my question is if it is better have everything in the same environment or have an environment for planning and other for consolidation.
My other question is that problems may occur if you create the model within the environment existing.
Thank you very much for your help

I think its better to have to different environments for planning & consolidation. As there is no dependency on each other, so we can go for a different environment as dimension members for planning are not usable in consolidation process.
Again, its all based on the requirement.

  • Automate template download for SAP BPC client rollout

    Hi Experts
Is it possible to automate the downloading of the template and dimension files automatically using a client deployment tool such as Symantec Altiris. We will be deploying to over 3000 clients in a staged approach, but due to the strict bandwidth polices of the client, they want to know if it is possible push down the Outlooksoft folder as well, when installing the client. So that when the client is launched for the first time, it doesnu2019t have to download all of the template files.
Because of the bandwidth policies this needs to be done. CITRIX and Terminal Services is not an option at this stage.
How does the client check that all of the files are downloaded, Does the AppInfo.xml file have any influence in this process check, and what parameter does this check?
    Kind Regards and Thanks
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
Appinfo.xml has importance but also some registry key from HKEY_CURRENTUSER-Software-VB&VBA Program settings- Outlooksoft.
BPC is doing comparation between the version from key registry and version from server and if this doesn't match then the info necessary for client like Templates and Dimensions are downloaded.
In your case you would liek to minimize the amount of data download.
That's means you have to keep at minimum the templates download into client.
So the tempates store into Wizard folders for each application must be redouce as much as possible.
Only these templates are download into client side.
The rest of templates are used direct from server and are download only when the users are using it.
I hope this will help you.

  • Universe design for SAP BPC (MSAS cube)

During the designing of a Universe on top of a MSAS cube there is the moment I may select Dimensions & Hierarchies. Here there are ID's of my model, e.g. Accounts-Lev1, Time-Lev1, etc.
How do I get to see the descriptions of the levels in the Universe Designer?
    Screenshots:
    http://s772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/Thijxx/

    Hi SR,
In some way is true what you think, is important to put effort and intelligence in design very well the Bex query also the BW solution.
But the effort is not only there, you can improve that with a good Universe creating MDX Measures, changing the BW names (Dimensions and measures) for other more comprehensives for the users, change and reorder the classes and dimensions to be more close to user concept, create new hierarchies and others.
Don't forget that the Universe is a semantic layer to hide complexity and is useful for:
    -  Map complex data into familiar business terms such as products, customers, and sales.
    -  Enable simple, intuitive, and self-guided data analysis.
    -  Guarantee single version of the truth (identical results) no matter what tool is used)
    Some tips are:
You do not need a BE query for every report and you do not need a Universe for every existing BE query
Focus the implementation strategy on limiting the number of Bex queries and Universes that share common elements
Build a small set of Bex queries focusing on sharing common elements in a small number of Universes
Understand that primarily the WebI Query Panel definition influences how much data is retrieved from BW, and not the BE query design or the WebI Report layout, In some situations extremely large queries and universes can adversely affect performance
Removing / Hide Unnecessary u201CL00u201D Objects
Removing / Hide Unused or Redundant Detail Objects
Remove all prefixes « Lxx ». Copy the initial name in the Description of the object
Rename the attributes (Detail objects) when necessary : remove the suffixes when no Business signification
    Optimizing Detail Object Syntax
    I hope this help you.
      Best Regards
