Constant Recovery Mode

When I plug my 4GB Ipod Nano into my computer, Itunes says that: "Itunes has detected an iPod in Recovery Mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
So i click restore, and it resets, and then pops up again with the same message. I followed the 5 R's to no avail. The iPod charges fine but whenever i want to add music to it, i have to Restore it before i can use it with Itunes. Sometimes I have to restore it three or four times before its compatible again. But this time i've restored over 10 times and i still cant Sync it.
What options are available to me at this point? Thanks for any and all help!

Well last night I restored it without the backup, synched and it seemed to be ok so I powered it down for the evening after I fully charged it. This morning, I went to turn it on and no go.....in recovery mode again. However I'm able to get it to come back to life by repeatedly hitting the top button and the front button after about the 20th time LOL I have a feeling I need to take it back.

  • Ipod in constant recovery mode

I have bought a new ipod and connected it to itune and it is in constant recovery mode.

    Hello Rachel,
Do you have any other devices or peripherals connected via USB ports while your iPod is plugged in?
Do you have any type of external hard drive or network drive you connect to your computer as well? If so, there may be a small chance that Windows is confusing your iPod with one of these devices because your iPod has the same *Drive Letter* assigned to it. So, I would try reassigning the iPod's drive letter as described in this article.
    http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2006/11/23/change-your-drives-letter-in-vista /
Worth a shot. And if no luck there, maybe try restoring the iPod on a different machine.

  • Nano constant recovery mode loop

I have a new iPod nano that wouldn't sync -- would plug in, get message it was in recovery mode, restore, then get same recovery message.  Googled and found that this might be because I had so many drives mapped that iTunes was getting confused and not finding the Nano.  Unplugged from corporate network, plugged in Nano and it worked like a charm.  Genius bar didn't have this one at their finger tips and it was very frustrating -- even got brand new Nano replaced thinking it was faulty -- until I found this simple fix so wanted to share it.

If an iDevice is going into recovery mode that indicates something is wrong with the device.
At any point when this occurred was the device setup as new?
If not, restore as new and see if the problem goes away.
If it has been restored as new and the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

Same here. I tried to update my iPhone 5S and iPad 4 to 7.1 but iTunes wiped out them. This thing already happened for iOS 7.0.6 update. What happened to Apple? I am really curious whether Apple is aware of this problem.

  • ITunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode loop

    Hello,
I have an Ipod 5 and during update of the OS to the latest, the process got an error.
No my Ipod is in recovery mode. Everytime I download the Update (Restore and update) there is this constant pop up that comes up (iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode).
I click ok everytime but then after 5h download there is the Processing file part which when I click ok on the pop that constantly keeps coming after some it, all stops and I need to restart the process again for 5h. Keeps going on like that.
Its really annoying stuck in an update like that which only a minor patch. I can't use my ipod for days now.
    Could you please help.
    Thanks
    Jérémie

  • HT201210 how can i restart my iphone from recovery mode

I had issues earlier re-activating my iPhone 5 and ended up going down the restarting through recovery mode in iTunes.  But I am getting a error message through that process.  Now my phone is in a state of constant iTunes connection.  How can I restart the process or better yet, get out of recovery mode?

Once you ar in recovery mode you need to restore the iPhone through itunes. If you are getting an error message folllow the article below and it should explain why you are getting the error and what you can do to try and resolve it:

  • Kernel panics in 10.7.4 (also in safe & recovery mode, stay after re-install)

My late 2010 Macbook Pro (*) started to have random kernel panics while normal use, but not triggered by something specific, after the 10.7.4 update. The panics became more and more frequent. Resetting PVRAM, repair disk, etc did not help. The kernel panic even appeared when starting from the Snow Leopard install DVD.
Nevertheless, Apple retail store people  checked the Macbook and said it must be a software issue. They asked me to reinstall Lion, which I did. The kernel panics reappeared after a day of use.
Now, the kernel panics are even more frequent, preventing any normal usage, and also appear in recovery mode. Occasionally, the Macbook does not start at all and beeps (single beeps with 5 second pause).
Any help or hint would be much appreciated!
    (*) Macbook Pro 13.3 as from Apple with unmodified hardware (500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).

Thanks, I did and they now indeed suspect a hardware issue, which remains to be seen.
Meanwhile I managed to copy over the system.log and kernel.log (though I could not find any panic log).
Would they be of any help?

  • IPod Touch 2nd gen in recovery mode after trying to update to OS 4.0

I was trying to update and the usual auto backup came on when you update not the sync iPod one and it was backing up then had an error and sent the iPod into recovery mode I can't get it back out. Tried all the button tricks. What to do?

I know it is just not right. I keep seeing sites that suggest quickpwn, redsn0w, blackra1n but when I try to use files they are always missing something. My iPod is not "JAILBROKEN" or anything but I have seen video of these techniques being used and they work but for me the programs won't run or I can't find a good source file. I don't want to restore and frankly I feel we should not have to. This is an Apple problem that seems to be constant I have had numerous failures lately and I am not real happy about it. I will try to call them 2mrrw but I doubt they will tell me anything new other than you don't have an apple care plan and there is nothing you can do but restore it. I have found this file that is suppose to fix the problem when you shift click restore and then select it but I don't know how to use it... any ideas would be helpful... ipod2,14.0_8A293Restore I want to know if it will delete all my files on ipod or just fix the OS issue? or if anything else can be done.

  • IPhone 4 keeps going into recovery mode

Every other day I pick my phone up off a table and see it not responding...the first time I connected it to my computer and it told me the phone was in recovery mode; then began to download software....eventually errored out. But then I found out I could hold sleep/wake and home keys to get it to restart. I missed a few calls from the last time it did this, and I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm definitely taking it to the apple store, but wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

I got home a few hours ago (7:00 PM EST time) and I noticed there was a new iOS 4.0.1 software update, so I decided to it update. The file downloaded just fine but when it tried to update my iPhone it failed (am guessing) now my iphone is in a constant "Restore Loop" and is unusable! It's a BRICK now instead of a phone.
I have tried restoring my iphone from my second computer ( MacPro Laptop ) to no avail, How do I get my phone working again?

  • Iphone 6 stuck in recovery mode won't update or restore in itunes, HELP!

My Iphone 6 16gb started crashing on a blue or red screen every 3-5 minutes (for two days). Then it told me iOS 8.1.1 update was available, which I thought might stop the constant crashing. I started the update but it crashed and went into recovery mode. Now it can not be updated via itunes nor can it be restored.
I have tried the usual tinyumbrella, wondershare, osdatarecovery etc to recover my data and restore but nothing has worked.
The phone is stuck on the plug into itunes screen.
    Has anyone got any suggestions?
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem, error 56.
I get the iTunes restore screen but the restore fails 90% of the way through.
I tried an over the air update last night that caused it.
My phone often gets stuck in extended reboot loops and shows either red or blue screen on the reboot loop.
The phone is un-restoreable now and I can't get a genius appointment for a week. I  paid nearly £800 and it's unusable, disappointed is not the word.

  • My iPhone would just randomly give me a blue screen and then restart--did that a bunch of times between Tuesday and last night. As of last night, it WILL NOT come back on. iTunes says it's in recovery mode....what does all of this mean???

Tuesday night I was texting a friend and when I went to open her message, my screen went blue and restarted. I just wrote it off as weird and went on about my business. Later that night, I tried to turn on my phone and it would not turn on. I plugged it up, held down the power button, and pressed the home button all numerous times. I looked online and it said to do a "hard reset" by holding down the power and home button at the same time--my phone then came on. Throughout Wednesday, it would give me a blue screen and restart--nothing major just really annoying. I took it to the local Verizon store where I bought the phone from and he said that it was some type of hardware defect and I was still under my year warranty so I could get a new one for free--the free phone won't be here until tomorrow, Saturday. I took it home and it didn't give me any trouble for a couple of hours. The next day it was cooperating and then I left town for a little while and it acted up (blue screen and then restarting) a few times. When I got home, it acted up again and so I restarted the phone and it was working fine. A few minutes later, I tried to check my messages and the phone was off again. No matter what I do, my phone will not come back to life. It had at least 45% battery last time I looked at it. I decided to plug the phone up to my computer and see what it did--my computer recognizes that there is a phone hooked to it and it says that it's in "recovery mode". It also said that if I'm having issues with my phone, that I need to reset the phone via iTunes. I guess the questions that arise are
    1. Why is my phone doing this?
    2. If I reset my phone, will it go back to working again? I ask that because I don't want Verizon to charge me $300 when they send me the replacement phone and I won't need it (assuming that the phone decides to work once it's been reset).
    3. What type of hardware defect is this that is causing this issue, not only with my iPhone 5S but others as well?
    4. Shouldn't people be notifying Apple and letting them know that they need to fix this issue?
    5. Should I report this issue to Apple even though I didn't buy the phone directly from them, but through Verizon?
Any help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated! This whole situation has me stressed out and seriously confused.

    Hi, beth.lau.gr.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand you have been experiencing issues with your iPhone restarting and showing you a blue screen.  I wont be able to give you an exact answer as to why this is happening.  However, this is the most relevant troubleshooting article for this issue.  This article also provides options to reach out to us via phone for additional assistance.

  • My iPod Touch is stuck in recovery mode after I left it on while updating!!!

I was updating my ipod touch 3rd generation (ios 4.3, i think) and I saw a wasp and left the computer on in the middle of the updating process and now the ipod is stuck in recovery mode and it says the only way to get it out is to recover it, but that will erase everything!!! HELP ME!!! until i get an answer      I HATE YOU, APPLE URGG
operating system: whatever the latest available to itouch is.

Without knowing what the error message said all I can suggest is:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
