Constantly being asked to set time and date (Apple TV 2nd Gen)

I am constantly being asked to set time and date on my Apple TV 2nd Gen. Has anyone had this problem? I get the screen with this message about 10-15mins after I connect to my home network. I connect, everything works fine, but then streamin, browsing stop and this screen appears. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

what if you try something simple as to restart your phone and check again.

  • KDE: Setting time and date automatically

I've never been able to set the time and date automatically in KDE time settings. When I check the "Set time and date automatically" and authenticate myself, I always get the error message "Unable to contact time server: .". I'm wondering whether it's an upstream bug or I'm missing some required package? Does it work for you?

matt101 wrote:I don't get it i have installed ntpd using pacman -S ntp . And then after it installed I restarted my computer and i still can't change the time to London and am still getting the "Unable to contact time server" error. Am i misinterpreting this or what? Could somone please explain to me in simple terms how to make the KDE clock show London time?
    Have you set ntp correctly?
Also go to http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/use.html you'll have all the answers there.
    in short try this:
    ntpq -p
If nothing happens you did something wrong, if it does, then it already works just remove ntpd or openntpd from daemon array.

    HELP!

    Hello john.george,
You may need to verify that TCP port 123 is open and available for use on your router.
TCP port 123 is used to communicate with a network time server.

If you can view the main home screen, try selecting "settings" on the far right, then choose recent at the bottom. If not, try just unplugging power for a few minutes, then plug in and try again. Keep in mind you'll need a wireless connection and there may be several updates. Hope this helps-

  • How long should setting time and dates take?

I have hooked up my apple tv, and it is still "setting time and date" after 2 hours.
    How long should it take?

You have a network problme.  ATV is not able to connect to the internet, so it is not able to set it's date and time.

  • Why my atv can't set time and date after restoring it using itunes ?

when my atv restarting after  I restored it using iTunes, it can't set the time and date.

I have apple tv with ios 7.

The network and signal test on device won't give the full picture, for that you need a network report. Go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar, that will show true signal strength as well as any nose detected. You can also try Ethernet to help rule out WiFi issues.

Can not set the time and date on Officejet 4620 when faxing.  There are no setup options available.  The log always shows "Jan 00  00:00 AM".

The time and date setting should be under the setup tools or fax setting in the printer control panel.1. Click the wrench icon on the control panel of the printer.
    2. Scroll to Tools.
    3. Scroll to Time and date.

  • Apple stays on setting time and date after restore

apple tv stays on loading setting time and date

It is having trouble connecting to the network. Make sure location is set correctly. DNS should be on automatic (settings - general - network). If on wifi try ethernet.

  • HT202157 How can I set time and date in the Apple TV???  This step doesn't let me go on with installing itunes!

The area is set for San Juan, PR, but it doesn't recognize the date and time.

This indicates a network issue.  Ensure DNS settings are set to Automatic and the regional settings are correct.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

  • Apple Tv (3rd. Gen) connect to network but didn't set time and date so...

    Hi.
Fist of all,  the device previously working fine. It works really nice since December 2011 until september 2012.
We were on vacation so, I disconnect some devices in my house, including the Apple tv.
I reconnect it after several weeks. Works fine, but one week later, after another re-connection, it restarted, show the apple logo, but stays permanently in Setting date and time.
After three more reconnection, I check for the network. It is connected to the network via wifi, plays via Airplay everything from the Iphones anf the Ipads, but it is unable to set Date and Time. We check the modem and the router. Everything is working fine, but the Apple Tv refuses to set Date and Time, so, we can't see the others computer's libraries, no iTunes, no Radio, no nothing from the Internet.
The computers (three MacBook Pros, one Sony Vaio PC, and two iPads, one first and one third generation) are with the last Operative Systems. Also the Apple TV have the last update, because I restore it. We also checked the Home Share account, and all the computers have it working fine.
    So, what happens?
It is general, or is this a single case?
If somebody know about a similar case, and have the solution, I'll appreciate the advise.
    Thanks.

  • Constantly being asked to set default home app

I had downloaded a third party launcher and selected Always as the default, but every time I exit an app, it constantly posters me to select the default home app. I've tried deleting the cache and force quitting Xperia Home, but that didn't solve the problem. I then deleted the third party launcher, but am still getting asked to choose the default between Xperia Home and Xperia Simple Home. Even when I select Always for the Xperia Home launcher, I still get asked each and every time I exit an app.
    Solved!
