Contact app: Change from "History" to "all contacts"?

Question that I can't seem to figure out.
When clicking on "contact" app.
Sometimes it will show "history"
Sometimes it will shop "all contacts"
How do I switch between those?

In reviewing your post it appears as if the contact are joined in error. If contact information was joined in error, the information can be separated back into individual contacts. Try this! I have provided some steps below to assist you.
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
Touch Contacts.
Touch the Contacts tab then touch the desired contact.
Touch Menu.
Touch Edit contact.
Touch Menu.
Touch Separate.
Touch OK.

Do you have the Sync Apps option ticked from under your iPod's Apps tab in iTunes?
Make sure your the installing of Apps is not enabled in Restrictions. Head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions and make sure either all restrictions are off or that at least Installing Apps is.

I recently got a new iphone 4 w/iOs 7. I set up th eicloud, etc. and got my contacts and appointments from outlook. All was fine. Now it will not snyc/update my phone from outlook. I get "Your setup couldn't be started because of an unexpected error."

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the iCloud Control Panel. I found an article referencing the error message you are getting:

App Store Purchase History, Download All - Ignore Hidden Apps?

Hello All!
Whenever I want to synchronize my Apps with my local library I usually go to my App Store purchase history and select "Download All." There are a few apps that I have purchased in the past that I do not want to download anymore. I thought by "hiding" the purchase it would stop the download when clicking "Download All" but it does not.
Is there any way to flag an app so that it never gets downloaded again?

Contacts app keeps losing pics for some contacts

Most of my contacts have pics associated with the contact entry. For some reason some contacts (not all) will lose there pic. Even after I restore the pic, after I close the contact app and open it a few hours later, the contact pic will disappear again.
This is very frustrating!

I will figure out to to use Mail, Contacts and Calendar in best possible conditions, don't worry. I use them all the time, so for me it's a vital question, overwise I just sell the Playbook.
So far, Contacts suck because of the limitations enumerated in my first post, Messages suck because of the impossibility to select multiple messages at once and Calendar sucks because it doesn't support the Floating Time Zone.

i had backup my contacts two times on icloud at 13/11/13 then replace my iphone . now i restore my contacts from icloud but my contacts are not showing.

Did you sync your contacts with iCloud on your old phone by turning on contacts in Settings>iCloud? If so, are you contacts on icloud.com when you check using your computer?

In contacts app how can I move a contact from one group to another group?

I find I cannot move a contact from one group to another group. If I delete a contact from one group I delete that contact from my total contact population. I did not have this problem in earlier IOS versions. Can anyone help me?

I will definitely get them all moved over before I delete that account and I've already gone in & changed my preferences. Several years ago, my husband I decided to share one calendar and one contacts list, using his mobile me account and it's been great for us. I'm particularly thrilled to no longer serve as a human rolodex and I guess that I paniced a bit when I thought there might be a problem with our system. I'm still confused where that "On my mac" account came from on the first place. Do you suppose that was an automatic thing that came with the Mountain Lion upgrade?

Restored from backup and all contacts gone???

I had the problem of the "OTHER" taking up all the space on my phone and it started the only way to get rid of the "other" was to do a restore... which i did.. before i did that. i had a current back up of my phone to itunes...so i thought "this will be no biggie".. i restore, then use the recent backup and the phone is an exact copy.. EVERYTHING is there (all my emails,texts,photos,background,apps, even last visit website) but the contacts are all gone .. i don't understand why is this so, this was part of the backup. i'm in tears because that is 10 years worth of numbers gone. my whole life, gone, the one thing i didn't think would disappear is completely gone...
why is this happening how to fix this

It says that to download past purchases, they must done under the apple ID that was used to purchase the items. I have an original ID for my iTunes on my computer. At some point I changed my apple ID on the iTouch since that email account was deleted. So I was syncing through iTunes under a different ID then was on my iTouch. Can I do anythng about that so I can check past purchases?
Since the apps aren't in the backup, how do I transfer the apps on my iTouch to my iTunes?

HT204150 All my contacts have disappeared from icloud and all my devices

I've just tried to use contacts on my iPhone (4S) to discover they have all disappeared. Checking my other devices, I discover they have disappeared from them also.
Is there any chance of getting them back?
I have tried recovering from Time Machine to my Macbook but it won't let me.
Can anyone help, please?

Log out of iCloud and make your Home/Library visible as follows:
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Then go to your Home/Library/Application Support folder and select the AddressBook folder.
Go into Time Machine, go back in time till you're sure you'll have all your contacts and resotre the AddressBook folder.
Open Contacts and see if your contacts are back. If so the the first thing to do is use the File ➙ Export ➙ Contacts Archive... menu option to make a backup of your contacts.
Then log back into iCloud and see if your other devices will repopulate with your contacts.

I have a contact that changed from iPhone to Android, but my iPhone cannot recognize the switch and continues sending texts as iMessage.

I have an iPhone and one of my contacts switched from iPhone to Galaxy phones. But now when I text them, my messages continue sending as iMessage, even though they do not have the iMessage feature anymore. The only way my texts are sending is when I turn the iMessage feature completely off on my phone. I tried holding the individual iMessage texts down and clicking the "send as text" option but then my messages aren't delivering, I deleted and re-added the number, and restarted my phone. How do I make my phone recognize it's not an iPhone anymore?

I need to take my iPhone 5 in for service because the sleep/wake power button at the top is not working and in order to do that I have to erase all content and settings but before I do that I want to back up my iPhone. Need to locate contacts on my machine. Lost all contacts in recovery.

So I have 2 PCs (old and new) and I was initially(for the last 2-3 years) using my old one with itunes for my IPhone. I just updated Itunes and the software on my phone and my phone went into recovery mode. The only solution that worked to get my phone out of recovery mode was to restore it on a different machine (my new pc). I have moved all my music and apps to my new machine with no problem. Now, I need to find my contacts on my old pc and move them to my new one so I can add them to my phone. The problem is, I do not know where to find them. I have looked in outlook and it has no contacts (possibly because i never used it). Also, my old PC will not recognize my iphone when it is connected, so i can not use that. Is there a way to force itunes to find a device?
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

You have the right idea but the wrong location. ..Apple Computer\Mobile Data\backup (I think; it's been a while since I used Windows). But the folder name is backup. And it's a folder, not a file; it is hundreds or thousands of files, depending on how many apps you have.

Calendar app changes End date of all-day events? Grrrr.

Okay this is getting incredibly frustrating. I use all-day events essentially as to-Do's. Things I have to do on a given day but no assigned time to do them.
(I can't stand the idea of a separate to do list from my calendar so don't bother suggesting that please)
If I do the task, I simply delete the to-do (I.e. I delete the all-day event).
If I am unable to do it on the given date, I move it to a later date. Sometimes the best day, sometimes a few days later.
Here is what happens...
- I select the event
- I hit Edit
- I hit the Start/End date, up comes the date scroll wheel
- I change the start date, which also changes the end date to match, then hit Done
- when I am back to the event listing, the end date has CHANGED. Sometimes it's a day later, sometimes several. No rhyme or reason or pattern I can discern.
Help as this is really annoying.
This was happening on my iPad 2 and is now happening on my New iPad.

Nope. In fact, not only have I not fixed it, I now also have a new problem with iCal events - both timed and all day.
Some, for no rhyme or reason, add an alert. They always seem to be the day before at 9am alerts.
If I go into the event and remove the alert, it will often recreate the alert a few days later.
VERY FRUSTRATING!!

Apps disapeared from iTunes for all devices

Wow the new iTunes 11. Unbelievable – in the worst possible way! All apps are now not being shown anywhere in iTunes for my iPhone 4, iPhone5 and iPad4.
For each device, I select ‘Apps’ in the sidebar, select the ‘All’ tab at the top (or also the actual device type) – nothing except a greyed out note saying “Apps you download for your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch appear in your apps library”. Well as I have selected ‘Apps’ under the heading ‘Library’ in the sidebar, I assume that that is where I am, so that’s a downright misdirection.
I select my device listing in the sidebar, then the ‘Apps’ tab at the top. All the apps windows for the selected device are shown on the right, but the list of apps is blank. Re-sorting has no effect.
I have re-started all the apple devices. I have restarted my PC computer 3 times – all to no avail.
I tried to restore my iPhone4, only to be told that I had to turn off ‘Find my iPhone’. Tried doing that, no matter what I did, it would initially show it had been turned off, but then advise that it was tricking me and it really wasn’t turned off. Grrr (and that’s NOT a grin). I tried the same with my iPad only to be told that there were some apps that I had purchased that hadn’t been transferred to my iTunes library and these would be lost and have to be repurchased. apple you gotta be kidding! Tried to restore my iPhone5 and was told that it wasn't really a restore to a know good point, but a restore to the initial factory settings. OK, I had selected the 'backup' option, but who knows what I will lose! apple you gotta be kidding!
In the past for various other apple bugs, I have had to un-install all apple software from my computer and re install it all. Takes quite some time. I have had to do this 3 times in 3 years. Not doing it again!

DELETING APPS
Touch the app and hold your finger down until all the apps start to jiggle. You will see a circled "x" in the upper left corner. Tap it to delete an app. When done press the Home button.
You cannot delete any pre-installed iOS app.
If there is No 'X' on any apps you have Downloaded... then check in Restrictions... Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps = Off / On
If the app is in iTunes, then you delete the app in iTunes (Select the App and Press Delete on your Keyboard). If you then sync with your iDevice, the app will also be deleted from your iDevice.
