Contact photos in Yosemite Mail messages don't display

My contacts all have photos and email addresses defined but mail messages only display the "initials" icon instead of their photo. This seems to be happening on both of my Macs and my iOS devices.
Anyone experiencing this found a fix? Thanks in advance.

How do I get my mail messages to appear?  Can only read them if I do a reply....
    Only headers are showing....

Try theses things in order. The reboot might be all that you need to do.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the mail app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Why do photos included in Mail messages appear out of orientation, but straighter out automatically upon hitting reply?

On occasion, pictures that are attached to Apple e mail messages are out of orientation, but straighten out automatically when I hit reply.  Any ideas out there?

  • Email messages don't display in thunderbird message pane but wdseml file is good.

There are some email messages that don't display correctly in the Thunderbird message pane.
Either the pane is completely empty or chunks of html show up in the pane.
I checked the actual email file stored in:
    C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\d976yxfm.default\Mail\pop-server\Inbox.mozmsgs
and it looks good, as the Windows 7 explorer window is able to show the email message cleanly in the preview window.
When I click on "View Source", it shows the wrong source file, I think.
The text in the "view source" window doesn't match the text in the ".wdseml" file at all.
Note: I recently migrated my C drive from a spinning hard disk to an SSD, perhaps this caused the weirdness? But, most of my email messages do display correctly, just some of them are hosed.
    Any ideas how to fix?
Currently running Windows 7, 64 bit, latest update from Microsoft (as of 3/13/2014).
    Thunderbird version 24.3.0.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Windows still has a command processor.
    So no need for bash.
type CMD into the search box to locate it
If you can use bash I assume your familiar with CD to change folders.
One little thing I use to save typing is I locate the folder in Explorer, click beside the path so it changes to a C:\ based item and use Ctrl + C to copy it and paste it into my CMD session. CTRL+V does not work, but edit on the windows system menu does.
To rename the files, navigate to the folder they are in and Copy *.wdseml *.eml
once you do the import return and del *.eml to clear out the duplicates from the first step.

  • Contacts photos garbled, e-mail addresses missing (at) symbol

Photos next to contacts are garbled. They look fine on our iPod Classic 80GB.
E-mail address (at) symbols are missing, so the username and domain of the address run together.

    Hi there, thx for reply!
I deleted the account now, and readded it. Will see if it works now, next time she is online, and then report here.
As for the differences in the accounts:
I don't think there is one. All of my contacts use ICQ so far. It could be that they are running different versions though..
The funny thing as i allready mentioned is, that i can see the online status in adressbook, but not in Mail.

  • Add Contact Photo from iPhone Mail Attachment?

Pardon if this has been posted, I didn't find anything that answered my question.
I have a photo I received on my iPhone (e-mail) that I'd like to use for a contact. Is there a way on the iPhone to set that photo to a contact?
    Thanks.
    Tek

Oh yeah, I love the iPhone. Sure, it has room for improvement - but what tech toy/tool doesn't?
For the most part, it does what I bought it for. I look forward to further developments and hope that Apple listens to the owners and follows the good ideas.

  • 10.5.2 - Mail hangs; generally sluggish; messages don't display

Since upgrading to 10.5.2, I'm experiencing various issues with Mail.app:
    • It takes a long time to launch, and often hangs without ever fully launching, requiring a force-quit and relaunch.
    • After launching, there's a general sluggishness throughout the app. The initial "checking for mail" sequence takes forever -- sometimes never completing.
    • Often, items I select take far longer than normal to display; messages I select aren't displayed at all; or mailboxes I select -- mailboxes that say they contain messages -- will display no messages. (This behavior is sometimes accompanied by the spinning beach ball, but not always.)
    • I sometimes have to force-quit and relaunch 3 or 4 times before I can actually use the app.
Users on other forums have reported similar issues. Has anyone discovered a fix for these issues?
Otherwise, Apple, we really need assistance, here. Needless to say, this is severely disruptive to our workflow and everyday lives.

My issue turned out to be for more complex than I realized. In addition to Mail.app's sluggishness, all of my syncing (calendars, contacts, mail, bookmarks, iPhone) had also ground to a halt. In System Preferences>.Mac, I was unable to even select the "Sync" tab. (Doing so "crashed" the System Prefs window and made the processor run hot, which made the fan come on.) So, with Activity Monitor, I traced the problem to the Sync Server.
A search, here in the discussions, led me to several users who had identical symptoms after installing Leopard or a Leopard update -- but no solutions. Finally I went to another Apple-related forum and found a solution. Someone there wrote:
+"trashing the ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/ folder did it... Usually touching that folder brings good karma..."+
It seemed like a radical move, because on my MacBook Pro that folder contained over 500 megs of data (although I now suspect it was abnormally bloated). But I had everything backed up, so here's what I did:
    1. I moved the folder, referenced above, to my desktop. (Note that "~" indicates your home folder.)
    2. Restarted my macine.
    3. Opened the .Mac preference pane, then clicked "Sync"
(Note: Previously, clicking "Sync" had been causing the Prefs window, so just being able to bring up that window was a huge victory.)
    4. Clicked the "Advanced" button, selected the MacBook Pro, then clicked "Reset Sync Data" and made sure that I was replacing data on .Mac with the data from the computer (which I knew was good data). In other words, I made sure that the animated arrow was moving away from the computer and toward .Mac, indicating the direction of the data transfer.
(The folder I deleted in step 1 contained a lot of sync data. So without step #4, I was concerned that .Mac -- with its data having been deleted -- might have interpreted that as a signal to delete the data on the Mac. So I performed step #4 to make sure that didn't happen.)
    5. Then I clicked "Sync now."
This was the first time I'd gotten sync to work for at least 36 hours. Also, after the sync was completed, the new "Local" folder, which replaced the one I deleted, only had 62 megs of data. Hence, my suspicion that the deleted folder was abnormally bloated.
So far so good.... I've got sync, and Mail is launching much more quickly now. Fingers crossed, but everything seems to be working well.

  • Yosemite Mail Shortcuts Don't Work

I just upgraded to Yosemite and my customized Mail shortcuts are not working.
I have shortcuts for changing the account I want a message sent from (Option-Command-G for Gmail, Option-Command-Y for Yahoo, etc).
I also have shortcut for select the signature (Option-Command-X for None).
After upgrading to Yosemite there is no way that I can make them work.
Any suggestion will be truly appreciated.
    Regards.
    Adolfo

    Thank you lindytalbot.
Unfortunately, I had to downgrade to Mavericks.
Many issues. Bluetooth: Magic Mouse works inconsistently. Poor performance with Apple TV which I use it a lot with Skype for video conferencing. Shortcuts.
Again. thanks a lot for your reply.

  • Yosemite mail messages not showing

After loading release version of Yosemite I have a display problem in Mail. The top bar says I have say 46 messages with 3 unread, and the mail activity bar shows that emails are downloading. However the only thing showing in the viewing pane is 'No Message Selected'. I participated in the Appleseed program and all was well with Mail. This has started since installing the 'final' version yesterday. My email accounts are all IMAP (BTYahoo and Gmail).
I have tried restarting my iMAc, restarting Mail, rebuilding mailboxes, syncronising accounts and taking all off-line/on-line.
Web based access is still working. All is well with Mail on Iphone and iPads

All sorted - grandchildren had sneakily resized message pane - sometimes the obvious is just too obvious!

  • How are contact photos in Mac Mail and Address book used?

I am trying to understand who will see my photo (user account picture) that I can see in my contact listing from address book. Will other mac users see this photo when I email them? Will PC users see it? I think it showed up on my blackberry in an email I sent myself. Is that possible?

Nobody can see that picture but you. If you assign pictures to contacts, they will show up as a badge on e-mails from that contact.

  • What happened to my contacts list in Yosemite mail

I use to have a pull down list of contacts that I could pick and choose (holding down the Command Key) several addressees.  I can't find that pull down list.  Selecting the + only allows one selection at a time, not several.

    Dick2111,
I appreciate your response, but I would hardly call it an acceptable work around.  Your work around only applies if you "pidgeon hole" folks into distinct groupings or contact lists.  I enjoyed and fully utilized the pull down menu in Mountain Lion.  I would enter the BCC field, access the pull down menu of addressees, and double click on each one that I wanted to copy into the BCC field.  Then, with Maverick's, they diminished the ability to double click and finally came up with a "work around" my having to hold down the Command key as I selected individual contacts to move to the BCC field.  That was totally acceptable and I appreciated the escalation and work on the Engineers part.   This work around was only produced after my trouble call was elevated to Senior Engineers.  Now even the Command key option is gone with Yosemite, and the only response I got from Apple Customer Support was to report it via the "feedback" page.  That to me is not unresponsive, but pretty close to it.
It might be an "oversight" but to me is either sloppy programming or perhaps deleting what is thought as infrequently used features to incorporate new features without "growing" the size of the Operating System.
I know i am wrong, but right now I feel it is part of the overall migration plan to an eventually have just one operating system for all Apple platforms, which (tongue in cheek) means if ya can't do it with your thumbs, it can't be important.  I am not sure if there are any third party programs out that address this issue, but I'm not a real fan of replacing Apple core programs with 3rd party stuff, but I may have no choice.  Bummer!

  • Remove contact photo in apple mail?

I'm new to mac and I just noticed that my user account pic is being added to the header of the emails that I send. Is there any way to remove this?

  • TS3276 Yosemite Mail Messages Viewer only works in Classic

Message Viewer is on the screen for less than 1 second then it disappears.  I used Mail Preferences to turn on Classic Viewer so I can now see my messages but I would much prefer to be using the new viewer.  How do I get it back?

I partially solved this problem by removing  'MessagesView.car' from Mail>Content>Resources folder. Remember to quit mail first. Also to find Content folder by holding down Control then click and hold Mail to get 'Show Package Content'.  Then click use Classic in Mail Preference.  Not great but at least I have my VIP and Mail Boxes back.

  • Mail messages don't appear

ipad Mail displays TO and FROM addresses and subject but no content? How do I restore content so I can read my emails? My iCloud sychronised PC laptop and iPhone have all content. So not a DNS malware problem.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

  • Messages don't display in chronological order. Why?

Sometimes messages about a week old appear at the bottom. While messages from today appear higher up. Why?
Conversation is with person from Europe while I am in US.... if this has anything to do with it.
Submitting picture. As you can see old messages are between messages that were sent Today.
    Thanks
