Contacts and Calendar on Phone Only

I was syncing to a desktop PC.
I rebuilt that PC and formatted the drive.
When I try and sync again iTunes tells me that I have to erase my phone.
If I do this, I will lose my only copy of contacts and calendar.
What should I do?

iTunes content is not synced through the cloud. The syncing of your iTunes library is done when you connect your device to your computer using iTunes.
Whilst iTunes does not sync through the cloud, there are a number of services that might be of interest to you. The first is iTunes in the cloud, which allows you to automatically download any purchases you make on one device on another. To set this up you need to check the automatic download option in settings > store on your device.
The other service offered by iTunes is iTunes Match, which allows you to re-download any of your iTunes content (music and music videos only) and not just purchased content on any device as and when needed.

  • Exchange 2007,  Contacts and Calendar OK , Email only folder structure

Hi, as i was reading many different topics I found that many of them had mixed answers between Exchange 2003, Exchange 2003 and 2007. Because of this mess, i wanted to focus ONLY on *EXCHANGE 2007*. That´s been said...
I have configured my iPhone with the user/pass/domain/address/SSL-ON, the iPhone connects to exchange and syncronize correctly Contacts and Calendar but not the Email. Email just shows folder structure.
After this first failed attempt I installed the certificate (Unsigned according to iphone and contains "Root Certificate")... No Improvement
I contacted my IT department , they said that Activesync was supposedly ON in my user profile and that SSL was mandatory. They also said that they cannot start testing thoroughly because it would disroupt other users. They also argue that many users are using activesync service with no problem what-so-ever. However they incouraged me to keep looking for an answer.
I couldnt find an apple guide to configuration for Exchange 2007, the enterprise deployment guide is just to vague.

I don't think there will be a solution to this. Exchange 2003 just isn't supported.

  • How to do one way synch from PC to phone ONLY for contacts and Calendar

Does anyone know how you can synch only ONE WAY - from Outlook on PC to Iphone? I want no information to change in Outlook Calendar or Contacts. I don't want the phone to make any changes to Contacts or Calendar on PC. Thanks!

You've posted this in the *Mac OS X Technologies > iSync* forum.
iSync is a Mac-only application for syncing Contacts and Calendars from the Mac Address Book and iCal to mobile phones and PDAs.
It has nothing to do with the iPhone, Outlook or Windows PCs.

  • How do I use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?

We are attempting to use SharePoint 2010 in combination with Exchange 2010 to implement shared calendars and contact lists throughout our organization.  We are able to connect the lists to Outlook 2010, but have been unsuccessful in viewing
the calendars and contact lists from our mobile phones.  How do we use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?
In trying to answer this question, we have come across a few different possibilities, all of them falling just short of a long term solution for us.  After doing research, we found that Active Sync will only show the default folders of the account.  To
solve this, we downloaded an Add-In for Outlook (CodeTwo FolderSync) to synchronize folders and synchronized our SharePoint list with a new Contact list in the default folder.  The issue we came across with this method is that the Add-In we are using
is not capable of automatic synchronization.  There is a button and it must be clicked after every update is made, which is not ideal for our solution.  We then went to the company (CodeTwo) and found server side software (Exchange Sync) that they
offer which will automatically synchronize the folders.  After installing that on the Exchange Server, we now are running into the issue of not being able to locate the SharePoint lists on the Exchange Server.
Does anyone happen to know how we can get to the SharePoint lists from the Exchange Server?  Has anyone else been able to use shared contacts lists and calendars from SharePoint on their mobile phones using Active Sync?  If so, are we in the right
direction with what we have found so far?
    Thanks,
    Brad

You cannot use ActiveSync for that, but there are SharePoint clients for the iPhone. Windows Mobile 7 natively supports SharePoint with SharePoint Workspace Mobile, part of Microsoft Office Mobile. Android and BlackBerry might also have some apps.

  • How do we sync contacts and calendars (ONLY) between two iCloud accounts, two iPhones and one iMac with two user accounts?

This is complex.  Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife.  We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us.  Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd.  (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her.  And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff.  But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine.  But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account.  That works great for the calendars and the contacts.  But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account.  And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones.  Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's.  So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone).  Does this description make sense to you?  I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work.  If you would like me to send the Keynote slides (just two of them - the current and desired configurations - please send your email address to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to forward it to you.
If anyone can help me set this up I'd be most appreciative!  Thanks so much.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all readers in this community!

    BobT.
I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
    1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
    2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about.

  • HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer.  Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer.  Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro.  I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty.  Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
    Can anyone help please?
    thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • Using iCloud with an iPad, a PC and a Samsung Omnia II phone stripped all contacts and calendar from my phone. How can I fix this?

I activatediCloud on my iPad2 and synced to my Sony Vaio PC using ( calendar & contacts in Outlook). Then when I synced my Samsung Omnia II to my PC, all my contacts and calendar were stripped from my phone. Can somebody help me:
    1) recover my information to the phone and
    2) learn a reasonable way of syncing email & contacts between these three devices or
    3) tell me if getting an iPhone will really solve all my problems

No problem [and only since you asked].
First of all, only the original poster (OP) can make the awards and these are limited to 1 x 'This solved my question' and 2 x 'This helped mes' Once you have used the 'This solved by question' you cannot withdraw it (as in your case) and allocate it to someone else. The best you can do to 'compensate' is to issue one (or the two) 'This helped me' provided they have not been used up.
    Regards.

  • Phone won't Synch contacts and calendar

HELP!!  So, my phone recognizes my PC (and likewise), but won't transfer anything over (including my contacts and calendar) when synchronizing.  It's giving all appearances of synching, but when finished, nothing is showing up on my phone.  The phone is showing 14.83GB available space on the SD card, and I get a message on my PC (Vcast), "ERROR:  VMMModeselection.exe - no disk  - There is no disk in the drive.  Please insert a disk into drive D:"  Never had a disk, so I'm not sure what to do about that?  Where do I go from here to insure things are transferring from my PC to my HTC Droid?

    Dear Adam,
I am having a similar issue with my Incredible, however mine is with the exchange active sync. I sync my calendar and contacts only, no email. If I have a new calendar item it will sync with no issues. If someone sends an update to that item, that item is then duplicated on my phone's calendar. I checked my settings and for Resolve Conflict I have choosen Replace items on phone. I have been using this tpye of sync for the last 6+ months with no issues. This just started happening in the last month or so. I have deleted the account and added it again and the first sync is fine. In addition, when I have a calendar item in outlook canceled, it does not cancel the item on my phone calander. I believe sometime in late November or early December my phone prompted me to complete a software update. Since then, I have been noticing this issue and it is driving me CRAZY! Do you have any advice?
    Thanks,
    mccpsmith

  • I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake. I have turned off sync to icloud from the phone for both my contacts and calendar, as told on itunes. However, iTunes still says they are synced from iCloud and wont sync to PC, Fix ?

I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake, but luckily by law we can return goods, which is exactly what is going to happen if I cant get this to work. This is my business phone, not having it functional can cost me money.
I have turned off sync to icloud from the phone for both my contacts and calendar, as told on itunes. However, iTunes still says they are synced from iCloud and wont sync to my PC, why and how do I fix it so that it doesnt go to iCloud for anything ?
The phone currently has no contacts or calendar information installed.
PC is HP Probook 4730s running Windows 7, Professional, version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.

I'm happy you figured it out and just try to keep in mind that not everyone you talk to at support will give the same advice or have the same knowledge. Just like those who contribute to these forums. Sometimes Google is your best friend.
I agree that Apple could probably make it easier, but as of yet prefer security over freedom. (sound famaliar?)

  • I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

That's not the correct port. It should be 993 for incoming.
If you signed into iCloud from the System Preferences, it should automatically create the iCloud account for you in Mail. Sounds like it is an account you already had set up for MMe in Mail.
Open Mail preferences, open the Accounts tab, disable that account in the advanced pane.
Open Sys Prefs, open the iCloud tab, and sign out of iCloud. Then sign back in and see if a new iCloud account is automatically created.

  • I have 3 i phones.  Can I have multiple accounts on one computer where it keeps the contacta and calendar for each?

I have 3 i phones.  Can I have multiple accounts on one computer where it keeps the contacta and calendar for each?

My daughter and I both have iphones. I created an account (not separate itunes) for her on my computer so she could sync her phone/itunes but not have it interfere with mine since we have WAY different taste in music. Creating a different computer profile should work if you have separate itunes accounts, too.
If you all use the same itunes account, you can turn on Home Sharing. That way you can all download the same content without having to pay for it again. Not sure how or if that works with separate itunes accounts.
    Hope that helps!

I just got an iphone 4, but use a dell computer (microsoft) at home.  I plan to use the phone's calendar.  How do I backup my calendar and phone contacts on my desktop as a safety net in case the phone is lost or destroyed.  Thanks.

The iphone is designed to be synced to your cpmputer regularly.

I have the same problem transfering Address book on iMac to contacts on iPhone (old version 3G - on iCloud). this is a hard wired connection

Might you have 200 entries in On My Mac groups and some of your appointments in On My Mac calendars?

  • Contacts and Calendar suddenly vanished from my new I phone and Mobile Me

I set up my new iphone and mobile me account this morning with no problems. I used the phone, contacts, and calendar with no problem for about three hours and then all of my contacts and calendar entries vanished. I have backed both up from my PowerBook. Any thought on what happened and how to prevent?

I figured out my problem. When I set up my accounts on my phone I had a .mac and a .me account and made the mistake of having sync turned on with both. When I figured out that my PowerBook was syncing with the .mac account I turned off the .me sync on my phone and everything is restored!

  • Contacts and calendar on the phone are gone.  How can I get them back?

I have sync my iphone with google contacts and now the pre-existing data, contacts and calendar entrys are missing on the phone.  The contacts from google contacts are there but none of existing contacts and dates.  Can I get them back? or are they gone for good?

Well, certainly if you had 3 years of photos you have been importing them off the phone to your computer as recommended.  Just synch them back.
