Contacts shown on ipad facetime won't transfer to my recently restored iphone

My iphone had been playing up of late, and resulted in me having to restore the factory settings, before I could back everything up properly. I'm now left with a basic iphone, and all my contacts etc backed up on my ipad. For some reason these won't transfer via icloud and won't merge. They also dont show up on my icloud control panel.
Any suggestions to avoid me the arduous task of tansferring them one by one?!

You could use an app like Download the app My Contacts Backup. to back up the contacts on your iPad as a vCard attachment to an email.  Send the email to yourself, then open it on your computer and add the contacts to iCloud as explained here: iCloud: Import a vCard.  If you see duplicate contacts on your iPad after doing this it means that you may be syncing them from an external service such as Gmail, Yahoo or an exchange account.  If that's the case you will need to disable contacts syncing with the account in order to remove the duplicates.

  • My iPad 2 won't transfer to PC!

Ok, pulling my hair out now after searching all these forums.  Trying to update my iPad 2 from 5.1.1 to 6.1.3.  iPad is nearly fully, and in fact states in iTunes that it is over capacity by 215.7 MB (on a 16 GB Pad).
I am having the following problems/pains(!):
    1.  When I look at the list of apps in iTunes, it states there are 105 apps, but when I count all the apps in the list next to the iPad screenshots, there are only 58.  i.e., the screenshots accurately portray what's on the iPad; the list to the left does not.
    2.  When I try to update, iTunes tells me there are purchases on the iPad that I should transfer.  So, I dutifully attempt to do this, and it seems to transfer 67 files (which is obviously not the 105 that iTunes is telling me are installed!); chokes a bit on the first two files, I think they're the 1.x GB files, and then quickly goes through the rest of the 67 (not 105).
    3.  Enter 1 Infinite Loop...  Assuming the transfer is a success, because I've not been told otherwise, I try to update again... And again am informed there are purchases that I need to transfer...  Loop... Pull Hair out... Post here... Have everyone tell me to look at articles about backing up and restoring.  Those don't work.
Also, what good is it to restore settings from a backup, if the backup has bad settings?  Is this really a solution?
The main thing I'm interested in recovering is the Apps, which obviously aren't transferring, nor do they seem willing to...  I suppose I can download them all again one by one from "the cloud", but then aren't all the app specific settings lost?  Or is that what backup is supposed to take care of?  Even though according to iTunes I only have 58 of 105 applications?!?  Any why is the iTunes "List" (next to the screenshots) listing 58 apps, while the "transfer purchases from iPad" action seems to be finding 67?  I'm so confused as to how all this is interacting, why memory issues on the iPad are preventing purchases from being transferred FROM the iPad properly, why there are no error messages after a "transfer purchases" attempt.
As one other piece of interesting (useless?) information, iTunes shows that I have 3.2 GB of "other" data.  Not sure about the importance of this, but I think before I started any kind "transfer of purchases", it was only at about 1.5 GB or so...  That's just an approximation, but the point is that the iPad wasn't maxed out of memory until I began all of this.
Any help appreciated, but I'm inclined to believe will not be forthcoming.  Thanks anyway to anyone that was brave enough (bored?) to read through all this dribble!
I'll nominate anyone for 1 billion points if they can solve this.  I've not found anything that even comes close to addressing this issue.

What number shows in Settings > General > About > Applications on your iPad, does that tie up with the 105 (is that the number shown at the top right of the Apps tab above the screen mock-ups) or the 58 (or is it a third number) ? The figure in Settings and at the top right of the screen should be the number of downloaded apps, so it excludes the built-in apps. The list of apps to the left of the screen mock-ups are the apps that are in your computer's iTunes library which are compatible with your iPad - so some might have an 'install' button next to them if they aren't currently on your iPad, those with a 'remove' button should already be on the iPad (so the 'remove' button would delete the app, and its content, from the iPad).
When you try the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases that isn't just looking at apps, it should also transfer any iTunes music, film, TV show, audiobook and ibook downloads over from the iPad (it should also copy any PDFs or epubs that you have in the iBooks app even though they aren't iTunes purchases) that aren't already on your computer - so the 67 is the count of items that aren't already on your computer that it should copy over, it will exclude any apps (and other iTunes dowoloads) that are already there, and it could also include other things.
The 'transfer purchases' also only copies the actual apps, it doesn't copy any documents / settings / game progress etc that you have in those apps i.e. it's just the app as downloaded from the store - their content and settings should be included in the backup instead. Before starting an update I normally advise people to take their own copy of any important documents that they have on the iPad, just in case the backup gets corrupted and can't be restored to the iPad e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab, emailing, transfer via wifi (depending upon what the app supports).
You have enough free space on your computer, are there any items that you could safely delete from the iPad to see if freeing up space might get the transfer to work, and/or have you tried rebooting your computer ?

  • My ipad 2 won't activate after a factory restore

i backed up my ipad 2 to icloud and did a factory restore and now when i go to set it up it says it can't activate because the activation server is temporarily unavailable, i tried connecting to itunes and got the same messge..any help would be great!

    Hi, swishmish.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to activate your iPad after a restore.  I have attached the best troubleshooting article to go through.  This article is labeled for an iPhone, but the steps still apply.
    Restart the iPhone.
Try to reach the activation server another way, then try to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you can't activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you can't activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
Check the system status for iOS Device Activation. If the iOS Device Activation status isn't green, try activating your iPhone later.
If you receive an alert message when you try to activate your iPhone, place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you still can't complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

  • HT1766 So, I am trying to restore my iPad b/c when I bought it, some how the operating system did not load properly so my battery is draining at record speed.  But the instructions say when I restore that the iPad firmware won't transfer -what does this m

When restoring your iPad from itunes I am getting a message that the "firmware" will not transfer.  What is firmware and is this important?

    Hi LAFMORE,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The message that you're seeing when restoring your iPad is unexpected. You can use the steps in this article to troubleshoot the behavior and restore your iPad:

  • Photos won't transfer to MacBook Pro from iPhone 5

Since I upgraded to iOS 8.02, I can't find a way to get my photos from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro. Before, when I connected my phone via the Lightning Cable, Image Capture automatically launched (along with iTunes), and the photos were available for transfer. Now, Image Capture doesn't launch, and when I start the program up manually, it doesn't show the iPhone as a device. iTunes seems to be working properly, everything syncs fine. Same thing happens in my regular photo program (Photo Mechanic -- I do not use iPhoto).
I've tried two different cables, same result.
    How do I fix?
    Thanks,
    Mark

This has never been a feature of iphone/ipod/ipad.
Iphone supports bluetooth for stereo speakers/headsets, handsfree telephone, some keyboards, some apps, and internet tethering if provided by the carrier

  • FaceTime won't stay connected on WiFi on iPhone 4 after iOS6 update

My boyfriend and I both have the iPhone 4. We rely on FaceTime to video chat with each other as he lives in another city from myself and our daughter. We used FaceTime almost on a daily basis over WiFi prior to updating to iOS 6. Since updating to iOS6, neither of us can get FaceTime to maintain a connection to the other for more then a few seconds. FaceTime connects, then the screen goes black says reconnecting and it's a 50/50 guess as to whether it will reconnect and we can see each other for a split second before it goes black and reconnects again or just simply disconnects us. This has been happening for weeks now. I've been in touch with Rogers "technical" support and was told that since we only have iPhone 4 and are using FaceTime over WiFi that they can't do anything to help and I need to contact Apple as it's an Apple Server issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions other then telling me to upgrade to the iPhone 5 so we can use FaceTime over 3G?

So you're saying that it's only your phone that has the wifi problem? Like your friends are using the same wifi as you, but only you lose connection while they don't?
If that's the case, does the wifi have a passcode? And also some wifi networks have a verification before the wifi becomes accessible. For example, you may connect to a wifi network without having to put a password, but then you would need to open Safari and you would need to confirm some things before you're able to use it. Like in college, the wifi is free and open to everyone but only students who have a user and pass are able to access the wifi.
2nd possible solution is to reset your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if that works.
3rd, restart your phone by turning it on/off.
4th, restore your phone on iTunes.

  • Recently restored iphone 3gs won't stay on

II recently (as of this morning) restored my iphone 3gs and now it will not stay powered on. The battery is charged so I know that is not the problem. Any suggestions or should I consider it fried?

Making the back up covers yourself from losing data. Restoring as new device will show if the issue is hardware or software related. You're reloading the iOS onto the phone. Think of restoring as new device like a brain transplant for your phone. You replace a possibly defective "brain" with a brand new one. Now if the body, your phone, isn't damaged, then giving it a new brain, iOS, will allow normal function. But, if you've broken you're arm, a new brain isn't going to heal it exactly. Here's where my analogy breaks down because unlike your arm, the phone isn't going to heal itself from resting in a cast. My guess is you need to send it in for repair.

  • Only cropped photos won't transfer

For some reason, photos that I crop on both my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 won't transfer to my Windows 7 PC; instead, the original version is transferred. I have tested this and photos that I have edited one of the other 3 ways (rotate, enhance, red eye) show up on my computer they way they've been saved to my Camera Roll. Is there a problem with cropped photos in iOS 6 right now?

This is normal. As I know only iPhoto recognize these changes. Crop them in your computer.

  • Can't see my contact on my iPad even though I have contact on in iCloud.

i Can seem to see my contacts on my iPAd. I have icloud turned on on my iPhone and want to sync them to my iPad. I have a iPhone 5c and a iPad 2 both running the latest update.

Yes.. just sign-in same account in your Apple devices and make sure sync your contacts in icloud and you can see all contacts that you made backup..

  • How to transfer a radio drama to iPhone

I have a few MP3s of a radio drama that I would like to listen to on my iPhone.
My iPhone is set up with iTunes Match. But the MP3's are rejected by iTunes Match because of their low bitrate. How do I manually sync these low bitrate MP3's to my iPhone, without disabling iTunes Match?
    -Ron.

    Thanks. I tried that.
But the DropBox playback controls don't integrate with my car's BlueTooth, so I need to fiddle with my iPhone while driving -- not recommended. And DropBox won't transfer the file to my iPhone. Rather it relies on streaming "live" over Wifi or 3G. So if I get no service, I get no radio drama. And I have AT&T, so sometimes I get service, sometimes I don't.
I was hoping to transfer the file to my iPhone, and play back with the iPhone's built-in player. It seemed so simple.
For the moment, I have found a solution. Use iTunes to upconvert to a 256 KBPS stereo AAC file. Then it will go into the cloud. A little excessive for a monaural radio drama engineered to be broadcast over AM radio in the 1950's, but it works.
If anyone knows of any way to transfer a 64 kbps monaural spoken word file to iPhone, I'd love to hear about it.
    -Ron.

  • My ipad just won't let me enter my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage, it works fine on my iPhone, I have tried numerous things but nothing works, can anybody help please, will a bug fix sort this out when they finally make one

My ipad just won't let me sign in with my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage since updating to ios7 it says check my network connection, even though my iPhone works fine with the same password, can anybody help please, I have tried numerous things but nothing  works.  Will I have to wait for a bug fix to sort this? I hear they are working on one a the minute, I hate ios7

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • HT201269 i just got my iphone5s. Icloud won't transfer my contacts to the new phone. what do i do?

What do I do when Icloud won't transfer my contacts to my new Iphone 5s?

MobileGo for iOS is a way easier way of transferring between iOS device if you've got a iphone 5s. did this yesterday myself, and it pulled all my contacts, messages, calendars, music, photos, videos and notes out of iTunes and organised them perfectly on my iPad.

  • My Digital Copy won't transfer to my iPad

I bought A Bug's Life on Blu-ray that included a digital copy.  I "purchased" the digital copy in iTunes using the included code.  The movie works and plays fine in iTunes, but it won't transfer over to my iPad at all.  I have the latest iTunes and iOS versions and I have set iTunes to automatically sync all movies, all of which do, except for A Bug's Life.  I tried selecting the movie and going to Advanced under the menu, but creating a iPad version is not an option.  Has anyone lse had this problem or a similar problem?  How did you resolve it/can it be resolved?  Thanks in advance.

It may not be resolvable. You need to read the license you agreed to when you bought it. You may very well only be allowed to use it on the computer it's bought on, not transfer it to another device.
I know when I bought the copy of Star Trek 2009, paid more for the digital version, only to find out that it's only valid on one computer and one digital device and if I ever want to move it I have to call a phone number and get permission to move it. :-/
I handle my digital video files differently now.
Your only recourse may be to read the agreement, if you should transfer it to a device but it won't let you, call the  contact number and see what they can do for you.

  • How can I transfer contacts from one iPad to a new iPad with different iCloud addresses?

how can I transfer contacts from one iPad to a new iPad with different iCloud addresses?

One way would be to e-mail them from yourself to yourself. That would totally avoid the different ID issue.

  • TS2776 How can I transfer e-mail contacts from one IPad to another?

How can I transfer e-mail contacts from one IPad to another?

Depends on how big the file is.  If itis only a couple of pages, or mostly text, the easiest way would be to e mail it.  If it is a very large file you are going to need wifi.  Take both pads to starbucks, and e mail it from there.  Or if you have wifi, use drop box, for example.
Your other choice, avoiding wifi would be a bluetooth type transfer.  There is an app call bluetooth file lite that reads like it will do what you need.   The good news is it is free.  The bad news is that it has terrible ratings.  For grins, i am installing it now on a pad and a phone, and will see if it works.
With a bluetooth method, you need both devices in  the same place.  If you are trying to send your file across country, bluetooth will not work for you.  you need e mail or drop box type solution, and if the file is big, you will almost certainly need wifi.
