Content Server as KM WebDav Repository?

Hi,
I am trying to use content server as WebDav repository for KM on portal.
Looking for possibilities, and configuration steps. Can some one help me regarding this?
Regards,
Nadh

Dear Nadh,
Following are the possibilities for integrating the Windows File share:
cm repository in persistence mode fsdb OR fs repository.
File System Repository has alot of restrictions, so check this:

  • WebDAV repository to Content Server

    Hi all,
I have a problem. We have some data in a content server, and would like to create a repository to allow users to read the file on this content server. SAP says it is posible to technically posible to connect to the content server via webdav, but I can't find how to do it. If I make a connection to the IIS I only get the files in the home directory of the content server website, that is som dlls. If I make a webdav connection to the database I only get a connection to a system webdav table that have nothing, and can't configure the table to use the content server tables.
Any idea on how to solve this? Can't use the DMS connector in this case, because we use archivelink.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gregori Coll Ingles.

    Hi Gregori
You can configure your content server data as file repository. You can refer this link for the
    configuration of file repository.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4c/9d953fc405330ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Or if you want to do it using IIS Server. You have to
    1) Creat one virtula directory under your default website.
    2) Apply your data folder as the Web Site Content Directory for that virtual directory.
For eg. you have created the virtual directory named 'Content' then you can access your web site as
http://website/Content.( website= yours website ip or name)
    3) Give the same path as above in 'http system' which you have created for the WebDAV repository.
            Hope this will help you.

  • WebDAV Access: SAP Content Server

    Hello everyone,
I would like to use SAP Content Server to store the courses created in LSO Authoring Environment. (Client wants it this way...i have no clue why). Now in order to use SAP Content Server here, the content server must support WebDAV access. So does the content server support WebDAV, if yes -- how to enable it and how to browse it.
    Thanks,

If the documents are stored in DMS with Content Server as the repository, you should be able to access them using the DMS connector to KM.  This is a business package which, when installed, exposes document stored in DMS to KM as a KM repository.  Then you can browse it like any other KM repository.  There are a lot of posts in this forum and others about the DMS connector.
You can also try to enable WebDAV if you Content Server is using a MaxDB database.

  • Content Server 6 WebDAV Access

Has anybody gotten the WebDAV functionality in Content Server 6 to work?
When I go to new->Web Folder, I get the pop up with my logon information and the URL:

However, when I try to add this as a new Network Place in Windows Explorer, I only get a message that thsi is an invalid folder. When trying without the gateway prefix (only the content server address), I get a login prompt, at which I cannot login with my credentials.

  • Error on update of document stored in content server

Error on update of document stored in content server
On a regular basis (but not reproducible) we find that after updating a document, it is deleted from content server (or at least it cannot be retrieved).  These problems have only been experienced since we switched to using content server as our storage repository, as opposed to R/3.
We create and maintain documents through a bespoke transaction, which calls standard SAP functions BDS_BUSINESSDOCUMENT_CREA_TAB and cl_bds_document_set=>update_with_table.
Whilst the errored documents are listed in the BDS via transaction OAOR (business document navigator), an error is received when you try to display it (in our case an MS-Word error indicating file/pathname invalid).
We are satisfied that file/pathname are valid and find that this occurs occasionally when a document has been updated.  It appears that the document has been deleted.
This bespoke transaction has been running successfully for almost two years, and these problems have only been experienced after switching to content server as a storage repository (as opposed to R3 previously).  Has anyone else experienced these problems?
    We are running :
    R/3 Enterprise 620,
SAP HTTP Content Server Version 6.30 Patch 13
    SAPDB version 7.3.0.54

    Hi Sonny,
To check the connectivity between your content server and Workstation and SAP Server.
Pls goto the command prompt of your workstation
give the command like this example.
    C:\>Ping 117.123.45.201
you will get the reply from the server. here 117.123.45.201 is your content server IP.
If you are getting the reply then it means that your contentserver and workstation are connected propely.
Like that pls check the connectivity between your systems.
Pls check the hosts file of your systems also.
If the hosts file entry is not maintained, you can check-out file from content server but you cannot check-in the original.
Pls let me know what kind of error Message you are getting?
From where you are trying to check-in the Original? From the DIR screen or from CAD Desktop screen?

  • DMS origionals not going to content server

I create an info record and attached a file in CV01N, I select check in the origional , it stores in the SAP-System in stead of the content server.  We created a content server ZDMS_C1, I assigned Repository ZDMS_C1 to Doc Area DMS in AOCT, I assigned Repository ZDMS_1 and Doc Area DMS to Staorage catagory DMS_C1_ST with OACT.  In OAC2 I assigned Doc type ZRF (same as DRF) to Doc Class ALF. KPro is not selected.Any ideas what I am missing

KPRO must be selected or the option won't show up to use the SAP content server

If you have WebDAV Interface to your content management system you can integrate the Learning Portal into your existing intranet, which means SAP Enterprise Learning can run without SAP Netweaver Portal.
WebDAV interfaces link the content management component with learning management software and the authoring environment.

  • How to migrate from SAP content server to OPENTEXT?

We have been using SAP content server as our storage for archived data for years.
Now we plan to start using OPENTEXT to admin our archived data.
How can we use OPENTEXT together with existing SAP content server?
My idea is to treat content server as any other media as as DVD, WORM, etc.
However, I do not see that OPENTEXT can be configured to admin content server .
If so, how to transfer whatever on the content server to IXOS?
    We are at Opentext 9.5.x
    Please share your experience. Thanks!

    hi,
    Please refere SNote 1043676.
Also, need to understand the following,
How to move an entire content repository from one content server to another
Sometimes you may need to move a content repository - but not necessarily all the content repositories from one content server to another. This can be done without much drama. Here is a means that I've used in the past:
Use report RSCMSEX to export the repository from the source content server.
Create a repository of the same name on the target content server.
Use Report RSCMSIM to import the repository into the target content server.
Delete the repository from the source content server (if desired!).
The SAP progrm sapkprotp controls the import and export. The ABAP reports allow you to specify the RFC destinations where sapkrpotp runs.
    For lager repositories
The programs  listed above cannot deal with the whole content repository at the same time. For a slower migration, try using the program RSIRPIRL. This approach allows you to do the migation on a live system.
Create the new content repository on your new content server.
    Create the new content category.
If using distribution, distribute the new documents to the new category. otherwise change redirected category for DMS_C1_ST
    Relocate using the program.

  • KM Repository to Store Documents on Content Server

    Dear All,
We are running on EP 7.0 and having a content server 6.0.
Currently our KM documents are stored on Portal Database
I want a repository where i can get all KM Functionality and Uploaded document should be stored in external content server instead of PortalDB.
Physical location of file should be on Content Server
    Please suggest me Process Steps
    Regards,
    Tushar Dave

    Hi Tushar,
In KM, the repository Managers can be comfigured to connect to other external servers.Like if you have external file servers or webDAV servers, you can connect those with SAP KM and the contents of the external servers are available through the KM.
SAP KM have some predefined repository managers for all those. If you want to refer those repository managers, then
    GOTO System Adimistration>Sys configuration>KM-->repository managers
There you can find number of standard repository managers provided by SAP for diffrent type of external servers.

  • DMS KM Repository: direct access to Content Server?

    Hello,
our SAP System is running in another network (outsourcing, connected via WAN) then the Content Server (LAN). Portal and TREX are located in the same network as the Content Server.
During indexing for the CM repository the content are requested via rfc - so the KPRO read the document from our network to the R/3 system and sends it back to the portal:
    our network     -
    >      WAN      -
    >      Outsourcing Partner        -
    >      WAN -
    >            our network
    Content Srv     -
    >      R/3                                -
    >        Portal/TREX
As you might suggest - very poor performance...
Normally the DMS is build to support direct content retrieval via URL. So my question is: is it possible to activate this feature for the KM Connector?
    Thank you,
    Frank

    Hello Karsten,
    > as far as I know, the content server itself only
    > holds files themselves in a flat list and identified
    > by an object ID. All attributes, access rights, etc.
    > are controlled by the R/3 instance.
Yes, but the KPRO (where most of these settings are stored) supports a URL based content retrieval. This is also the default behavior of the DMS/DVS. For Example TREX, gets the list of attributes and a URL for the content pointing to the Content Server. This also works for WebDocuments (Web Access to DMS from R/3, based on BSP). But it seems the KM Repository sends a full content request via RFC...
    Thank you,
    Frank

  • Content Server / Content Repository / Archive Link and co.

    Hi,
i have installed a content server on an external Windows 2003 Server Plattform using MAXDB. The Server is now running and working properly. The test of the content repositories were positive too. Now im a bit confused about all the actions which are required to make a content rep known to SAP System via Archive Link. Is it correct to start the content server service in the SCIF transaction? Do i need to perform the Archive Link Workflow and Costumizing wizard. Which tables have to be altered?
I would  be very greatful if anyone could tell me the steps which need to be done in order to succeed.
    Thanks in advance Christian

    Hi,
Is it correct to start the content server service in the SCIF transaction?
    Not required
the actions which are required to make a content rep known to SAP System via Archive Link.
Create a content repository  in OAC0 using document area Archivelink and storage type HTTP Content Server.
To use full functionality of  Archlink, other set of Archivelink configurations required one of them e.g.OAC3 to use this repository to be used by business objects.

  • Archive Repository - Content Server or Root File System?

    Hi All,
We are in the process of evaluating a storage solution for archiving and I would like to hear your experiences and recommendations.  I've ruled out 3rd-party solutions such as IXOS as over kill for our requirement.  That leaves us with the i5/OS root file system or the SAP Content Server in either a Linux partition or on a Windows server.  Has anyone done archiving with a similar setup?  What issues did you face?  I don't plan to replicate archive objects via MIMIX.
Is anyone running the SAP Content Server in a Linux partition?  I'd like to know your experience with this even if you don't use the Content Server for archiving.  We use the Content Server (currently on Windows) for attaching files to SAP documents (e.g., Sales Documents) via Generic Object Services (GOS).  While I lean towards running separate instances of the Content Server for Archiving and GOS, I would like to run them both in the same Linux LPAR.
    TIA,
    Stan

    Hi Stanley,
If you choose to store your data archive files at the file system level, is that a secure enough environment?  A third party certified storage solution provides a secure system where the archive files cannot be altered and also provides a way to manage the files over the years until they have met their retention limit.
Another thing to consider, just because the end users may not need access to the archived data, your company might need to be able to access the data easily due to an audit or law suit situation.
I am a SAP customer whose job function is the technical lead for my company's SAP data archiving projects, not a 3rd party storage solution provider , and I highly recommend a certified storage solution for compliance reasons.
Also, here is some information from the SAP Data Archiving web pages concerning using SAP Content Server for data archive files:
    10. Is the SAP Content Server suitable for data archiving?
Up to and including SAP Content Server 6.20 the SAP CS is not designed to handle large files, which are common in data archiving. The new SAP CS 6.30 is designed to also handle large files and can therefore technically be used to store archive files. SAP CS does not support optical media. It is especially important to regularly run backups on the existing data!
Recommendation for using SAP CS for data archiving:
Store the files on SAP CS in a decompressed format (make settings at the repository)
Install SAP CS and SAP DB on one server
Use SAP CS for Unix (runtime tests to see how SAP CS for Windows behaves with large files still have to be carried out)
    Best Regards,
    Karin Tillotson

  • Relocation archives on a different content server repository

    Good morning,
We are storing scans of bills in a repository of our content server.
I would like to create new repositories on my CS and to relocate my documents for specific years on these repositories.
The idea is to split documents to repositories per year.
I would like to do that because full backup with networker/legato client takes too much time to backup everything each week.
Another important point for me is that I would like to be able to restore faster recent documents in case of a restore/recovery.
    1. Would you know if it possible to do so with sap tools?
    2. If not, has anyone written a program that provide repository relocation for specific (not all) documents?
From what I have seen archivelink repository ID can be only two characters.
    3. Can I choose any combination of two characters for my new RepIds or there are "SAP reserved RepIds"?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

It is file system.  This is why if I relocate it would be transfered on another Unix partition that I can backup differently.
