Content Viewer not refreshing, old folios disappeared

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this and if this issue is related to some of the other download problem threads?
My clients contacted me that they were unable to see recent updates I made to our shared development folio. I was able to replicate this as my own folios have stopped updating since yesterday afternoon.
I deleted and re-installed the content viewer on my iPad, and since then all my previous folios fail to show up on the iPad.
I created a small folio, with a blank page, this does show up. However any updates with a bit of content in them appear to upload correctly, but the folios no longer refresh on the iPad.
Several clients also tried to either "archive" existing folios in the hope that they would subsequently refresh, or deleted the content viewer from their iPads with similar resuts to mine.
When starting the content viewer I coccasionally receive a message that says "Cannot contact server, an error has occurred"

OK, I figured out this was an orientation issue, related to a bug discussed in post:

Apparently when uploading something like a 1024x4000 vertical smooth scrolling stacks, one must
a.) specify an  _h filename postfix (makes sense)
b.) Do NOT use the "add" or "update" function of the folio producer tools, but instead use the "import" function for the file's orientation to be interpreted correctly (a work-around)
c.) After import, change the default orientation after importing a _h postfix file from horizontal only to "both" or "vertical"

  • Adobe Content Viewer not installed on V28

    Today I updated both my CC and CS6 versions of InDesign, so I now have V28 of DPS tools, however there is no Content Viewer app available for my Mac (Running )SX 10.8.5).
    When I try to preview on Desktop via the Folio Builder panel, an error stating that the Adobe Content Viewer couldn't be found comes up.
    All the Adobe Support documents go through the process of finding the AdobeContentViewer.air file in the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/AdobeDigitalPublishingCS6/ContentViewer folder, but I only have three files in that folder:
    Adobe AIR Installer.app
    Install Adobe Content Viewer.app
    Install DPS App Builder.app
    So I can't double-click it to reinstall it.
    My Air is up to date, my Updates are all up to date, and I can't find how to unistall InDesign (I am a Creative Cloud subsriber).
    I used my Time Machine backup to go and get it from a back up, but it wouldn't install when I double-clicked the old version (I was getting desperate!)
    However I can preview the same Folio on my connected iPad running the latest version of the Adobe Content Viewer app
    After a live chat, then over two hours on hold for some UK technical support on my land line, and just over an hour on my mobile, plus a Skype call to the US 800 number to be informed of over an hour's wait there, and to discover UK support is only during office hours, and after nearly two hours it has passed 5.30pm, I had to give up on Adobe's official technical support, and resort to more searching on Adobe forums, but have found nothing for CC or CS6 that I haven't already tried, except unistalling and reinstalling InDesign. But I can't find how do that via Creative Cloud. At one point I had to tell one of the nice indian "technical support" staff not to put me back in the same loop as I'd been in twice before as I was close to tears. He sympathised but told me it wasn't his area of expertise - surprise surprise... Not a good day.
    Pleeeese, is anyone else having this problem, or has anyone else solved this problem?

    Thanks Neil, that worked once I'd installed it directly into the Applications folder, not within a subfolder.
    So if anyone else has this issue, install the Desktop Viewer app for CC and it works for both CS6 and CC.
    NOTE, that you need to double-click the Install Adobe Content Viewer.app file, don't look for a file called Install Adobe Content Viewer.air as per the instructions, as they are out of date.
    Phew, I have finally got all my DPS functionality back, and have created a V27 app using V28.

    Both old shares and newly created ones.

    if you publish them as private and sign into the viewer with your email etc then they show up
    I think it may be a sneaky way of limiting how much people can do with a free account

    We just updated DPS Content Viewer 32.1 on iPad Gen4 running iOS8.0.2 and noticed that the previously downloaded v27 folios have reset to download new content. We tested this on a couple of devices and received the same result. Will this behavior happen once we release our 32.1 app from iTunes? Our readers have already complained about losing their downloaded libraries from previous app bugs in the past few weeks.

    If users upgrade first to iOS 8 and later upgrade the app... then they will have to download old content again as mentioned in the release notes:
    When users upgrade to iOS 8, previously downloaded folios will be removed from the device if users restore. However, if they upgrade using an app built after Sept. 13, downloaded folios should be preserved.
    We used push-messages and "expedited review" to get customers to upgrade the app first.

  • Preview working on Desktop Content Viewer - not on iPad

    As the title suggests, I have a page layout with MSO's and buttons within it that works perfectly well on the content viewer, but then doesn't work on iPad.
    To give a brief overview...
    I have one MSO with 5 states... It is a block of text on the left with two buttons in a column on the right hand side of the page.
    Each of these buttons when clicked reveals an image over the top of the text so you can gain an idea of what the text is talking about. So...
    State 1: Text
    State 2: Text w/ Image 1
    State 3: Text w/ Image 2
    State 4: Text w/ Image 3
    State 5: Text w/ Image 4
    Now as the images are two sets (I don't want you to be able to view them all in one go, one after the other) I've had to change the destination each button links you to within each Multi state. This is quite hard to explain, but I will try...
    State 1
    Button 1 clicks to: State 2
    Button 2 clicks to: State 4
    State 2
    Button 1 clicks to: State 3
    Button 2 clicks to: State 4
    State 3
    Button 1 clicks to: State 1

    Essentially the flow is...
    Read the text, click Button 1 to view Image 1, then Image 2... then another click takes you back onto the text.

    Obviously I am open to suggestions if I have approached the logic of this wrong, but I was just curious because as I said, it works on the desktop viewer and then not on the iPad.
    To note: I have read up on potential bugs, and so have removed < >'s from the layering names, as well as making sure there are no transparencies as I've heard these can cause problems.

    I have a similar problem. My folio has hyperlinks that bring the user to another page in the same article. They work on the content viewer on my mac but not on my ipad help anyone?

  • Content Viewer not updating

    I built a folio last week which displayed properly in Content Viewer.
    Since then, we have added more content to it. The build continued to work in Content Viewer, then all of a sudden, it stopped updating.
    I stripped the folio back to what it was before we added further content and it still wouldn't update.
    I left it during the weekend, then when I attempted to view it again this morning, Content Viewer still didn't offer an update.
    I've spent two hours this morning rebuilding the folio under another name. It appeard in the viewer and has given me updates every time I've added new content. Now, it has stopped offering updates and there is no way to test the folio, very frustrating and time consuming!
    I have attempted to download the folio in both the release version of Content Viewer, and in my own custom content viewer. Still nothing. The content is showing in Folio Producer, so I know it has succesfully uploaded.
    What is the solution to a non-responsive Content Viewer?

    this doesn't seem to be happening to us any more.
    obviously we have another problem now...the certificates won't validate despite being walked through it by the dps tech team. this service is attrocious.
    we've produced two mags with adobe dps and both of them have missed the event they were designed for.
    WE WILL NOT BE USING ADOBE DPS AGAIN.

  • Edge Animate file turns black when viewed in Folio, but worked great in adobe content viewer before uploading to folio panel.

    What am I doing wrong?
    I created simple animations to work in DPS. Basically hot spot button that toggle on and off showing features and benefits. When viewed and tested in adobe content viewer, everything worked great. Now that I am ready to upload the folio as an ipa app. The animations turn black over the image that it is supposed to be on top of.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Adobe Content Viewer v22 for Android - folio update issue

    Yesterday I updated our Xoom to Android 4.1.1 and updated the Adobe Content Viewer to v22.  Both we and a client have had issues with not seeing the "Update Available" message for folios that are been updated.  The "Updating Library..." message flashes briefly at the top of the viewer in library mode, however nothing changes.  It's only after killing the app and restarting that it takes its time while checking the library for updates and finds them.  Has anyone else had this issue?  The iPad rendition of the same folio has been showing update messages in the usual, almost instantaneous, way.
    Has anyone else had difficulty with updating folios in the Android v22 Adobe Content Viewer?  In the past couple of versions I've noticed some strangeness with the Sign In/ Sign Out part of the library where it seems like the text tells you you're signed in, but sometimes you have to sign out and sign back in to get updates.  Sometimes you could go back to the home screen and then go back into the app and it would trigger a check for updates as well, however that trick doesn't seem to be working anymore.

    Thank you for the reply Himanshu.  Evidently the problem is much worse than I thought because previously created apps don't even open anymore!
    None of the apps we have published to the Android app store are getting past the splash screen.  The library flashes briefly on some of them before the app crashes.  The error message it gives is "Unfortunately, ____ has stopped."  This is a big problem!!  Will updating the apps to v22 solve this issue?  When will Adobe have this major problem fixed?
    I'm flashing back to June of last year when reliability of basic functionality (like apps opening and folios being downloadable/viewable) was still unpredictable.  You Adobe guys and gals have got to figure out how to make the DPS system dependable.  I understand this is an operating system conflict, but surely you knew this update was coming and could test how well your software would hold up to the changes.  This isn't a barely used minor feature that isn't working, this is something that makes users uninstall the app and lessens their opinion of the company that released it.  Please make this your top priority and get it fixed today.  We and our customers are paying for a much higher level of service than this.

    we've using DPS for years,  yesterday the content viewer on ipad is not working, we can't see all the foilos which we made. iPad is iOS 8.1.3, and the content viewer app is updated. How can we fix this problem? help~

    Also just because they are showing in Folio Builder Panel does not mean they will show up on the iPad. You may have accidentally created them as local folios, and they must be uploaded to our systems before you can see them in Adobe Content Viewer.
    Did you make sure your folios created in InDesign are uploaded to our servers? (in the Folio Builder Panel flyout menu select Upload)

  • Adobe Content Viewer: Failure to load folio

    Recently I tried to preview a folio on my desktop (mac) at work, and it failed to load. I then tried to add that folio to my current folio builder to see if I could preview it on my shared device....
    It then got stuck at the "building folio" with a checkbox stage and never proceeded past it. I had to quit inDesign eventually.
    I feel like something got corrupted while trying to preview the multistate object, which then somehow corrupted Adobe Air. Please help!

    My Adobe Content Viewer is completely empty. It doesn't matter which account I log into, no folios are ever displayed. This includes folios which were produced and published long ago (and showed up in ACV last week).
    I have verified that the folios exist in the account. They show up in the Folio Builder panel in InDesign and in the Folio Producer online. They just will not load in ACV.
    I tried on a iPad using WiFi. I also tried on an iPhone over LTE (to eliminate local network issues). Still nothing for ANY account (I tried 5 different ones).
    I completely removed the app on both devices (through Usage->Manage Storage->Delete App). Then re-downloaded from Apple Store (v 32.3.0). Still nothing.
    I installed a proxy service and watched the responses from the Adobe servers. I do see XML being returned with the folios and their data, so it seems to be an ACV issue.

    I am on a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 (12C60) Fully Patched and up to date and am using the Creative Cloud subscription with everything installed by the Adobe Application Manager.
    Have unistalled InDesign CS6 and reinstalled using AAM then reinstalled DPS tools using Help>Updates no reported problems during the process.
    Am NOT seeing Adobe Content Viewer in Applications and I have looked in the directory you quote above:
    3) If it isn't installed try installing it from /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/AdobeDigitalPublishingCS6/ContentViewer/Adob eContentViewer.air
    This I find most curious - that directory does NOT exist. I have searched the machine for the file 'Adob eContentViewer.air' with and without the space in Adobe and nothing is found.
    Fairly clear that the Content Viewer is NOT installed. Also, not sure if this is relelvant at the moment but I am not seeing an option to preview on my iPad even though it is connected and I have installed the content viewer app on the device.
    What next please?

    This is rather silly but I looked to see where the installer logs are ready if you asked for them and following the instructions on the page pointed to above  the Air Framework directory doesn't exist either. BUT I found what looks like the Air Framework files under Applications>Adobe Flash CS6 :

    Thanks for your Suggestions.
    Unfortunately, I would not be able to implement any of your suggestions because, I m not allowed to change the DTP Settings.
    So, I m working on finding the root cause of this issue and came across a SAP Note - 1506944 - Only one package is always extracted during direct access , which says this is a Program Error.
    Hence, i m checking more with SAP on this and will share their insights once i hear back from them.

    I had quite similar problem/question. And un/fortunately answered it by myself, nobody was interested in help :)
    For the first sight: two "concurrent" statements have been used: ON DEMAND and START WITH. I wonder why database changed good code.

  • NWDS view not refreshing after changes in layout

    Hello experts..
    I'm using NWDS 7.0.13 and every time I'm modifiying a webdynpro view in layout mode the view does not refresh, instead I get this message:
    This program cannot display the webpage
       Most likely causes:
    You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
    There might be a typing error in the address.
    What you can try:
         Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
         Retype the address.
         Go back to the previous page.
         More information 
    In order to display the changes I have made, I have to close the WD View and re open it, the funny thing is my other team mates can change their views and see their changes inmediately without closing/opening the view.. hope anybody can help me out on this one..

    Do you have IE7 on your machine??  IE7 with a certain patch causes this issue.

    Since the last update, many of us in our office having been having problems with content viewer (iPad) not staying logged in.  Its to the point where we are loggin in 10 times a day.  Tried everything I can thing of, deleting all, reinstalling.. etc, with no luck.  Any ideas out there?
