Contextual Menu Layer Selection for CS4 and 5.x

Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to get contextual menu layer selection functioning better in Photoshop.
Right clicking on a layer provides a menu but does not necessarily select the top layer automatically. If the layer is grouped, it will generally show the top most group, and indent layers within. Alt-right click selects the top-most layer, but does not provide the contextual menu.
The behavior I'm looking for is right click, brings up a menu with the top most LAYER (not group) selected.

Am I missing something on the Windows version? Is there an option somewhere to change the behavior?

Attached is a picture of the behavior in Windows. Right clicking on empty space (with the exception of a plain white background) does not highlight background. It highlights Group 1, despite Group 1 not containing any information for where I have selected. So when selecting layers in a huge working file with dozens of groups, finding the top most layer gets to be a painful experience.
In Windows, I can control-click a layer to get to the top-most layer without any contextual menu, however the menu behavior on the Mac offers some benefits - you can just go up one menu item to find the layers group.

The Mac behavior seems much much more valuable I would think. However, I'm guessing there is no way to get the Windows version to do this.

Contextual Menu Plug-in for Finder in Snow Leopard

I have Contextual Menu Plug-in for Finder which works with my application, but it doesn't work in Snow Leopard. I read that plugins are not supported in 64bit environment. There is still Menus.h file with CFPlugin interface in 10.6 SDK, but my plugin not loaded by Finder even it is compiled for x86_64.
I read about revamped Services that they should be used, but I didn't find a clue how to create dynamic menu with tree of items.
I need to communicate with another application which runs on background and creates menu items in dependency of selected items, their path and other conditions.
Application is written in Java and CMPlugin (which doesn't work in 10.6) is in C++.

Please refer to the SAP note 310886. In the note you should be able
to see how to add fields in to the dynamic selection , and the fields,
which are available for this.

What photo album software do you recommend for CS4 and/or CS5?

I want to do pagination, design and layout in CS4 (multiple photos per page, text, etc.) to create printable albums. These albums could be either social event or documentary purposed.
Many such photo album software programs are proprietary which obliges you to use a specific printer or lab. Are there stand alone photo album software programs out there, CS4/5 which allow you to create photo albums and then print your own albums or use a vender of choice to print your albums?
I've seen everything from $29 thru $400, and some which are priced beyond $800.
What is your favorite photo album software for CS4 and/or CS5?

It sounds like you are trying to create scrapbook pages ... if so then its quite easy just to create them yourself using Photoshop. You can purchase scrapbooking kits which will give you all the background papers and elements that you need to add to your page. There are also many free kits around ... a quick google search will show you lots of them
Sets of the pages can then be uploaded to sites that will print out a book ...

I had to make a new ID because the old one I have had for years now was not working. So I made a new one under the same e-mail and it said it was not in use. When I go to review it I go through all the steps until I get to the payment and then there is not a none selection for payment.

Need a single point of view on date selections for Delta and Full load IP's

Hi Experts,
Every year we are facing issues on date selections for data extraction, for example the Delta or Full selections for particular IP is like 2005 to 2008 , in this situation, for the year 2009, this IP is picking 0 records as the selections are upto 2008 only.
My requirement is, I need to check the selections of all the IP's in the system and want to change on need base if the selections are getting expired instead of going and checking manually to each and every IP as the system is having around 3000 IP's, which is a tedious job.
Guys, please let us know if there exits a Table/Program or any other way to check it.
Inputs appreciated.

PP Install fails for CS4 and CS3

Hi,
I've been trying to install my licensed copy of CS3 on a machine that had 6.5 installed and ran fine. After two days with no success, I decided I'd download CS4 and see if it installed. No such luck. The behavior is the same for both CS3 and CS4. Setup begins in CS3 and goes through the extraction of the files, when the splash screen appears for initializing setup, it flashes briefly then goes disappears and exits. In CS4, the "checking system profile" gets about 85% complete, then the initalizing setup splash screen appears for a moment and disappears The checking system profile remains on the screen and the process is hung.
Machine is a 3.4 Ghz Dell with 2GB RAM, SATAII hard drive with plenty of space, video is Intel integrated. XP professional service pack 3.
Here's what I've tried:
1) Cleaned up and removed every Adobe application on the machine, then run the CS3Cleaner at levels 1,2,3,4.
2) Used ccleaner to remove and repair all registry related issues.
3) Used msconfig to disable all startup commands.
4) Updated to the latest Intel Graphics Accelerator/driver and latest chip drivers for the video.
5) Removed most applications.
Still seems like a conflict to me, but I can't think of anything short of reinstalling XP. I'm at wit's end and refuse to reinstall XP from scratch just to figure out something that should be apparent to me from the installation. The windows event log gives the message that the software was successfully installed and the add/remove programs has an entry for CS3. When I click remove, I get a prompt for debugging in Visual Studio.
I've rebooted, cleaned, retried about 40 times. No, I'm not exaggerating.

I had to use solution 3 modifying the javascript install. I still haven't figured out what is interrupting the screen call for the install. I had to modify the js file for the install of Encore too. Oh well, it's working!

the user dialog box what it should be doing is that i could choose from two chn combo boxes 2 angles data from which i want to calculate the difference.

As long as you have a reasonably new DIAdem version, you should be able to use the built-in subtraction function from the ANALYSIS panel instead of the channel calculator, like this:

Printing PDF with Acrobat 9.0 for CS4 and Mac OSx10.6.2 not working properly.

I downloaded the CS4 for MAC Trial before purchasing. I work on a MacBook Pro OSx10.6.2. The download and installation was successful.
However, upon launching the Adobe Acrobat 9.0 software, I received the following message: "REPAIR SETUP: Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair. Select the optional components you would like to repair and click continue." My choices were: 1) Adobe PDF Printer, and 2) Adobe PDF View Safari Plugin. I chose Continue. When I am in another program (like Quark 7.5), and try to Print to the Adobe 9.0 Printer, the document spools, as if printing, but I do not get prompted to save the PDF anywhere, and when it is done "printing" there is not a document saved anywhere. It appears to be getting stuck in the distilled, although I don't really know. I tried un-installing the entire CS4 software and re-installing and had the same exact thing happen again. Can anyone help?

Do as I do on some items. Install a utility called TypeIt4Me the go to the announcement. Copy the link. choose add clipping give it a name put / or \ at the end so it you type the same words normally it don't trigger the typeIt4Me entry. then when you need to type the words (code used) and wait for TypeIt4Me enter it. the item highlighted in my attachment is this:

Good thought. Howeber, I've never created nor applied any Character Styles (or Paragraph Styles)--and I double-checked that in the Character Styles window (nothing is listed).
As someone used to CS3, is it possible to create a style (and later re-apply it) without knowing it, and without seeing it listed? It's a new CS6 feature and I haven't tried it, so I might well misunderstand it!
The only styling I did of the text box is selecting text, changing font size/leading/color, and toggling changing the font between normal, bold, and italic.
Plus, that wouldn't explain why it happens only sometimes and not others, on the very same words in the same text box of the same document; for instance, maybe I'll change one word, and some other word in another paragraph also changes; but later when I change the original word again, the same problem might not happen. It's like it comes and goes, but once a text box "goes bad," issues remain frequent.

DVD Menu Setup Page for Audio and Subtitles

Scenario: I have a Setup Page menu (for 1 timeline) that has 2 audio tracks (Stero and 5.1 Surround), and 2 subtitle tracks (English and Spanish). How can I make the buttons work as toggles (on/off) without having the selection on an button jump the viewer straight to the timeline?

If it goes to the timeline, you are linking to the timeline.
Here is the "specify link" option where you should select a button on a menu itself, not a timeline.

Row Selection for second and subsequent level nodes in tree table

Hi All,
We have a .jsff page with tree bindings to display a three-level hierarchy tree table.Suppose the hierarchy is
-> Department
->-> Employees
->->-> Employee details.
I have a use case where-in when we add the employee node within a department,the department node must expand and the newly added employee node must be selected.
In both the cases(for new department or employee), we are following the approach mentioned below:
1. Get the treeTable Iterator.
2.Adding the new object to the java ArrayList which is bound to the corresponding level in the tree.
3.Refreshing the treeTable iterator.
4.Execute treeTable.setSelectedRowKeys()
5.Add a partial target to the treetable.
The issue is that the new employee gets added but the upper-level department node collapses and no selection is performed on the new employee node.
But when we add a new department node, it gets selected on creation.
Is there any additional steps to be performed for second-level row selection?

I looked at the code given in sample 61.
In the sample, a new node is not added dynamically (for ex.either new location or its child nodes.)
As mentioned in the above post, after adding a new node at a level in our use case, when we perform the refresh of the tree-table's iterator,the selection state of the rows is not shown on the table.
If the tree-table's iterator is not refreshed and the treeTable.setSelectedRowKeys() is executed, the rows get selected but the subsequent node additions do not show up in the table as the table's iterator is not refreshed.
Any sample code is available where in both the addition of new node and its selection is performed at the same time?

Im using Dreamweaver 8. Im trying to position a flash file at
the center of the top of the page, and at the bottom of the page.
but for some reason its only laying out properly in Internet
Explorer. i was using Project Vii's Screen Layout extension. For
some reason in Firefox the layer at the bottom of the page is
positioned strangely. like it is too low or something or that its
trying to position at the very top of the layer instead of the
bottom - i want the bottom flash file to overlap the top one when
clicked - u can take a look. check it out in IE and Firefox.

Laptop Requirnments for CS4 and Lightroom 3

I am currently looking for a lightweight laptop to take on a six week trip to India this winter. I have zeroed in on a Toshiba Portage R-700 Intel Core i3, 2.4GB processor with 4GB ram, 500 Gb HD and an a Mobile Intel HD integrated graphics card (weighs 3.2lbs!). I will use the laptop to store images and do some editing but I think I will do most of my editing on my desktop when I get home. Is this laptop powerful enough, especially with this grapic card, to work with CS4 or lightroom COMFORTABLY editing and browsing images. Thanks for any info.

A seperate video card, 128 or 256 mg, may be important. Also a card that supports OpenGL Drawing to take advantage of some advanced features of CS4.
Integrated video, built into the mother board, used to borrow from system memory slowing everything down. That may not be the case any more. Just something to be aware of.
