Continued Yahoo pop access problems

Like many, I continue to have password problems with Yahoo mail while using Mail 3.0 as the client. When using Thunderbird, the problem goes away. It is not a keychain problem. I'm always asked for my Yahoo password. If I hit cancel, not entering a Psw, and do a send/recieve, the program works fine. Does anyone have a fix for this??
Thanks in advance,
cb

tried talking to the live chat support through yahoo, the guy told me to switch some port numbers around which did nothing. It downloads 22 messages, then the download rate drops from around 120kb/s to 0, and nothing happens. turning the firewall on/off also didnt help
am I really the only one that has this problem?

  • Mail yahoo pop access not working.

This has been going on for 2 days now. Re set up my account in mail but nothing just the ! next to the mailbox. Anyone else having problems?

Sending an email is something totally different again - you can send yourself or anyone else an email to any email address.
You can also send or forward any email while on your Yahoo account to yourself or anyone else.
Setting up Yahoo to automatically forward emails to your home email address is something else. Here is an excerpt from Yahoo Help:
+The ability to access Yahoo! Mail using an email reader program such as Outlook, Eudora, or Thunderbird is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service. To determine whether you have purchased this service, please visit the My Services page.+
Although this does not mention Apple Mail, it functions exactly like Outlook, etc. so it will not work. Here is the link to the entire help page:
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html;_ylt=An EHIP08O6GRC7cEYzjbTbe7myN4
I have no idea why it might have worked for you previously, but according to Yahoo, it cannot be done unless you pay for the service.
So, unless I've totally misunderstood what you are trying to say, I do not have a different answer and it does not have anything to do with your Mac or OS.

  • Yahoo POP access doesnt work anymore

Recently Mail hasn't been able to get/send mail from my yahoo account. It has worked in the past, and I checked to make sure I still have Yahoo Mail Plus (which I do)
When I delete the mailbox and try to set it up again, it will either not be able to log in, or if it does, it will download about 20 messages and then disconnect and stop working.
    anyone else having this problem?
and yes I am aware this may not be the right forum, but I really need some replies

I did, the guy told me to switch some port numbers around which did nothing. It downloads 22 messages, then the download rate drops from around 120kb/s to 0, and nothing happens

edit, also turning off the firewall didn't change anything

  • TB stopped receiving emails after one with huge attachment. Updated TB. Can send but not receive. Using Yahoo POP server. Browser access works fine.

Several days ago, after receiving a 7MB attachment, I stopped receiving email on my Yahoo POP account. Browser access to the Yahoo server works fine. I obviously deleted that message and attachment but curiously, it and only it continued to be downloaded to my inbox!!! I tried downloading a new TB and installing it. Nothing changed except that specific email no longer appeared (another did though, see later). Settings are to leave msgs on server until I delete them. I transferred all my inbox to a local folder and then compacted mail and tried testing reception from another source and nothing appeared on TB, just on browser access. Oddly, one very old message repeatedly appears, I assume as a result of the auto check for new mail but not sure. Though I try to delete this old message, I can't. I haven't removed and recreated account yet because I don't want to lose all the filter history. Scanned for solution and can't find any. Any ideas, please?

Starting your mac in safe mode will disable the Symantec stuff long enough to download mail. Should the issue arise again

  • POP3 access problem

    hi,
    imsimta version is
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-5.02 (built Oct 12 2007; 32bit)
    libimta.so 6.3-5.02 (built 17:15:31, Oct 12 2007; 32bit)
    SunOS P1192FLPLN 5.9 Generic_118558-02 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire
We have a mailbox allocated to a user who uses pop3 service.
Our server has been pointed to an external gateway ,but the user has configured his pop3 client to send mail via another gateway.
He is experiencing slow delivery of mails.
Is their anyway we can check the logs for his mails been sent.
Also is their any command utility with which we can monitor the messaging server continuously
I am quite skeptical in our case that we will able to find any log for our case, so posting this query
    thanks in advance.

Our server has been pointed to an external gatewaySending (SMTP) and accessing email (POP) are two completely independent operations.
What is this 'external gateway' you are talking about - is this for POP access (some kind of proxy/MMP) or for SMTP access/outgoing relay?
,but the user has configured his pop3 client to send mail via another gateway. Who maintains/runs this 'other' gateway? Does this mean the customer is not uploading/sending emails to the Sun Messaging Server that they have their account on?
He is experiencing slow delivery of mails. Does this occur if they send emails via the Sun Messaging System, if not how is this a Sun Messaging Server problem?
Also does 'slow delivery' mean it takes a long time to upload (send) or a long time to be delivered into their account?
Is their anyway we can check the logs for his mails been sent. Only if the system being sent to is owned/maintained by yourself. If the customer is sending emails to a third-party then it won't be logged since your system knows nothing about it.
Also is their any command utility with which we can monitor the messaging server continuously Monitor what exactly?
We provide an SNMP interface for monitoring various parameters about messaging server (queues, processes up/down that sort of thing).
I am quite skeptical in our case that we will able to find any log for our case, so posting this queryWell if they upload email via a third-party how is this your problem/fault? You could check the received headers of a 'slow' email to determine where the delay may be.

  • Yahoo Mail access in Leopard Mail?

According to the Apple web site, I'm supposed to be able to access Yahoo mail from Mail.app. Yet when I try to configure a Yahoo account, all I get is an error message that says, "Trying to log into mail server 'pop.mail.yahoo.com' failed. This server may require an additional fee for POP access. For more information, visit Yahoo! Help (link)."
There are several things wrong with this message:
    1) That it's coming up at all.
    2) That it's implying that I want POP access, when what I really want is IMAP access.
    3) The link to Yahoo! Help does nothing when I click on it.
Anybody having similar problems trying to get this to work?
    Thanks.

For well over a year it has been necessary to subscribe to Yahoo Plus if you want to download POP3 mail. So far as I am aware, Yahoo does not offer IMAP4. When you create a Yahoo account in Mail you should see a Yahoo Inbox in Mailboxes but you will not see a separate YAHOO tab because it is not IMAP4 and you can't access a folder list from the server.
The cost of Yahoo Plus is reasonable (I think I paid about $15 or so for a year's subscription). And, unless I'm mistaken, you also have to pay Hotmail if you want to download http mail from their servers (but this doesn't work with Leopard at the moment because we're waiting for a new Hotmail bundle).

  • E72 yahoo pop mail not synchronising new mails

    hi guyz
thanx for yo help i managed to set up my e72 yahoo pop mail. However, it only loaded mails the time i set the pop, after that it never synchronised any new mail. Sending mails and replying is working perfect except loading new mails. Last time i deleted the setup and restarted, but the problem still exists. All settings in the inbox seem to be fine but still new mails wont load!

Have you checked if there is an update for your Email client on the phone? You can check Nokia Suite if there is an available update for your device. If there is none, you can reinstall the software. If you continue to experience the same issue, you can do reformat the device. Make sure that you have a backup file before doing the reset as it will delete all the data on the phone. Check this link for the codes:

  • How do I permanently remove "Authentication Required" window that continues to pop up?

I am running Firefox 15.0.1 on Mac OS 10.6.8. A window continues to pop up that reads, "Authentication Required" and "Enter username and password for ftp://ftp.radiogarage.com". This happens every time Firefox is opened and continues to pop up approximately every 30-60 seconds until I close Firefox. How do I permanently remove/delete/get rid of this pop up window? I have clicked on Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox but that has not solved the issue. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Yahoo POP Mail just stopped working in 10.6.7

I have three Macs, two of which run 10.6.7 and one that runs 10.5.8. They are not networked together. This afternoon we had a storm and my big computer (iMac 27") was unable to retrieve my Yahoo POP mail. It has no problem retrieving mail from a BellSouth account and it can send fine on either account. So I tried the laptop that runs 10.5.8 and it downloads my Yahoo mail fine. I tried my other laptop that runs 10.6.7 and nope, it can't retrieve my Yahoo mail.
All of the Mail settings are exactly the same. I have no idea what to try next. Suggestions?
    --Katie

Just curious - has anyone taken this to Yahoo?  Not sure if this will get solved by a bunch of us discussing on an Apple board.  Yahoo's mode of operation in the past has been deny, deny, deny and then mysteriously, the problem gets solved without ever a mention of root cause and what they did to fix it.  My recommendation is to not burn wasted time by deleting accounts in Mac mail and then re-inoutting the settings.  This appears to have nothing to do with Mac mail and everything to do with Yahoo POP mail authentification.  I can get to Yahoo mail using only my browser since this does not require a handshake between Yahoo servers and my desktop MAC software.  Thus, it tells me there is a disconnect and the blame clearly lies with Yahoo since nothing on our MACs have changed and we are all experiencing the same problem.  Let's see if they get over their denial and mysteriously fix the problem while we sleep.  My bet is that things will work find in the morning and none of us will be credited back the $.50 for being down for a full day.  Too bad the Yahoo Mail Plus agreement doesn't come with an SLA.

  • Gmail POP Access

So as I understand with firmware 1.1.3 comes IMAP access to email for Gmail. The problem is that I do not want IMAP because I do not want to actually delete the email from my Gmail account when I delete it from my iPhone, I still want to have every single email I have received backed up. Is there a way for me to set up my Gmail account with POP access or use IMAP and have it when I delete an email not actually delete it from account?

A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client on a computer or device.
An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices keeping the server stored mailboxes for the account synchronized automatically between all email clients used.
With an IMAP account, you can store sent messages on the server with any email client used for accessing the account. Send a message with the account using the iPhone and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox automatically when accessing the account with the email client on your computer.
The same when sending a message via webmail access using a browser for the account. Send a message via webmail and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox on your iPhone and with the email client used to access the account on your computer.
You can also create additional server stored mailboxes to sort/store received and sent messages by category. Any server stored mailboxes will be available with the iPhone automatically and these mailboxes will be kept synchronized with the server also.
Gmail includes plenty of server storage space so this should not be an issue.
If you delete or remove a message from a server stored mailbox with an IMAP account, the message will no longer be available with any email client used to access the account.

  • Mail + Yahoo POP

Over the past several weeks I am no longer able to use Mail (ver 2.0.7) with my Yahoo POP account. I use the premium Yahoo service, so I am able to use email clients. In fact everything was working fine for many months. But now I am receiving server timeout errors.
Unfortunately, Yahoo does not support Apple's Mail application, so there is no info on setup on the Yahoo site.
The problem cropped up suddenly, so something must have changed, either on the Yahoo side, or perhaps with my ISP (Comcast).
I've reviewed the earlier threads on the topic, but I don't see that anyone has resolved the issue successfully.
    Any suggestions?
    iMac Mac OS X (10.4.6)

HI there. I've been trying to follow the discussion at hand regarding trouble sending mail. If I understand it right, your IP is Earthlink and you have a Yahoo biz account so Yahoo handles your incoming mail with their mail server. If that is so, then you do have to use Earthlink's outgoing (smtp) mail server to send messages, regardless of what Yahoo says about it. If you were on Pacbell/SBC/ATT DSL service, it would not be the case, since they partner with Yahoo to provide their service. As a general rule, you have to use the OUTGOING mail server for the network you are using. So, if you travel, for example, and you get a room in a hotel that has broadband available, you have to find out what the IP is and what the SMTP server address is for that IP. Once you setup those settings in Mail, you can send mail from that location. The reason that your mail doesn't get through to Yahoo is that you are out of network. It could really be ANY foreign IP, not just Earthllink. Most of the IPs out there refuse their own users' outgoing mail attempts when they are out of network because of concerns about spammers.
The 'how to send mail from remote locations' issue is a pain. The best solution I've found is a service called authsmtp.com. You use THEIR outgoing server from ANYWHERE and your mail always gets out. VERY cool if you travel. They charge for the convenience, but the cost is minimal.

  • Mail (Yahoo Pop) constantly askign for security signin

Have Yahoo Pop set up- constantly being asked for my sign-n security code. Clicking remember on key does not help. Any ideas?

    LNN,
That is often caused by a POP lock, or more than one mail program trying to access the POP3 mailbox at the same time. For example if you computer and iPhone are checking the mailbox at the same time.

  • Mail won't send/ download with BT yahoo pop mail account, constantly asks for password... any solutions?

I have a problem with Mail at the moment - it wont log into / send with a BT yahoo pop account.  Hours of uninstalling and reinstalling/ checking it hasnt changed servers etc... any ideas ?  This is a recurrent but intermittent issue.  Thanks!

Replying to my own post. The problem was in the Mail.app Preferences file (com.apple.mail.plist). It had become corrupted. I compared this file with a recent backup and discovered an inconsistency. I quit Mail, deleted the problem (two) lines from com.apple.mail.plist, restarted Mail and all was well. Used BBEdit to so this. Simply deleting com.apple.mail.plist and reentering all server info, etc. in Mail would also have done the trick—though with additional work.

  • ITunes continually trying to access store, won't recognize iPhone

Okay, here is a problem I've been struggling with for a good while.
For the last...six months or so perhaps iTunes has been having an issue both connecting to the Apple Store and recognizing my device (iPhone 4). I have tried every fix that exists on the forum and other message boards (I am on Windows 7 64-bit Home):
    Uninstalled and re-installed
Uninstalled and re-installed Bonjour and Apple Mobile Device
As admin did a DNS flush as well as tried the netsh winsock reset
Turned off my firewall and anti-virus, and made sure that each allowed Apple programs access
Made sure that Bonjour and Apple Mobile Device were running and started in services
Did an Autoruns to see if there were conflicting issues with Winsock providers, and there are no weird apps running
And so on. I haven't been able to switch out music on my iPhone in ages, and iTunes takes a good long while to start up every time I run it (even when running as Admin). When I click store it just continually tries to access, and my device isn't even recognizable in the program at all (but I can see it and access the HDD via Windows Explorer, as well and remove photos/etc.)
I honestly don't know what else to try and it is becoming so insanely frustrating not being able to connect my device and run iTunes properly. I know that this sort of thing has been posted before but the fixes that worked in those instances has not worked out for me and I do not know why.
    Help please?

Also, in the "Sharing" option in preferences it tells me that Bonjour is disabled, however after re-installing and re-checking Systems Bonjour is indeed turned on and running (apparently).
