Contribute Toolbar Failure To Appear in Firefox / Windows 7

When activating the Firefox contribute toolbar extension in Windows 7, I would receive a success notice and then a request to choose a  Firefox profile.  I would get an error message when I selected a profile stating the profile was already in use.  Quitting and starting again would open Firefox but no Contribute toolbar.  Couldn't find help on the topic and tried the standard reboots, enabling and disabling add-ons and uninstalls and re-installs without success.  However rerunning the extension installer and  instead of selecting an existing Firefox profile, creating a new profile (which I later deleted) did not produce the error and enabled the toolbar in the pre-existing profiles.  Maybe this could save some people some frustatration.

Thank you for the suggestions, but the problem is not that simple. But as you can see, no PDF extension appears in Extensions. And nothing was added to the menu regarding a new extension added. When I installed Acrobat X Standard, Chrome and Firefox did nothing. The plug-in IS in IE. I have the latest versions of Chrome and FF.

    Please make sure you are using the latest version of RoboForm from the Web site. Also, please note that FireFox automatically disables toolbars now and you must go to the FireFox dropdown menu and click on Add-Ons. Make sure the RF extension is enabled.

  • Firefox windows opened by javascript fail

    I have a script that opens several windows. I've been using it for years. It worked just fine in all the iterations of Firefox 2 and Firefox 3. But in Firefox 4 there are two problems:
    1. There is no bookmark bar and nothing I do can make it appear. Firefox windows that I've opened from the menu or the initial window do not have this problem.
    2. When I right click a link to open in a new tab the new tab opens on the initial firefox window instead of the window in focus if that window was opened with a script.
    It seems that if a window is opened with a script, that Firefox doesn't fully recognize it. Here's the part of my script that opens a new window:
    function OpenWindo( URL ) {
    intWidth = screen.width - 100; //Adjust for the end of screen (don't know why?)
    intHeight = screen.height - 10; //Adjust for the Icon Bar at the bottom of the window.
    winprops = "toolbar=yes,location=yes,directories=yes,status=yes"
    + ",width=" + intWidth
    + ",height=" + intHeight
    + ",menubar=yes,scrollbars=yes"
    + ",resizable=yes,copyhistory=yes"
    + ",top=0,left=0"
    xyz=window.open( URL, "", winprops)
    Thanks for your help
    Ed

    Thanks for posting that solution!

  • HOW DO I GET THE FIREFOX WINDOW TO APPEAR SO I CAN FOLLOW YOUR DIRCTIONS? WHEN I CLICK ON THE ICON THERE IS NO "0PTIONS" IN THE DROP DOWN MENU.

    All of the instructions seem to ask me to start with the firefox window. I cant get this to appear. As an alternate, I have opened Mozilla and clicked on the icon in the upper left corner, but no Options" appears in the drop down menu. (the only items listd are restore, size, etc). What can I do?

    You most likely have the menu bar visible instead of the Firefox button, [[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar]]

  • A msg appears that Firefox is still operating and to close it. However it is not operating. What can I do? It does not show up on the Task Mgr window.

    I had a crash of Firefox and since then I can not open it again. The msg appears that Firefox is already in use; however, I deleted Firefox from my system and tried to download a new version to no avail. I can not install the new version because I get a msg that Firefox is still running. I am using E IE for now and this is causing some problems. I would like to use Firefox but am not certain how to rectify this problem. Reboot did not solve the problem.

  • [Solved] When I open multiple Firefox windows an orange pull down tab appears and I cannot exit from any single window. I have to exit all of the Firefox windows to close one.

    I like to open several Firefox windows when I am browsing the internet. Since mi reinstall of windows XP with sp3 I installed Firefox 5.0.1. Now when I open multiple windows they kind of window in a window and I get this orange pull down menu. I can no longer close any one single window. I click the lower of the two top right X's to close the window and all the tabs in that window, but nothing happens. I also don't like the look and feel of the orange pull down menu

    Autofill in Google Toolbar does not appear to be working with Firefox 4 - It aways gives the message "Autofill not available for this page". This is happening on pages I have used Autofill on before upgrading to FF4 from Firefox 3.5.x

    i did not see a solution posted - I tired what I read. Going back to an old version may solve the problem but it is a stupid solution so I have yet to do that.

    Uninstall version 5, then Google "google toolbar version 4", follow the link to FileHippo.com, and download and install the last version 4. When you reinstall it, make sure you turn off the option to perform automatic updates.

  • On a large monitor, the bookmarks toolbar is opening outside of the Firefox window itself - is there any way to force it to stay inside?

    Recently I installed Windows 7 on my computer, along with a device called a Triplehead2Go, which spoofs the operating system into thinking that the computer has one monitor attached (when it really has three). When the Firefox window is relatively small on the desktop and with excess space to the right, the bookmarks toolbar opens to the right (and extends outside of the window). This creates a problem for me, as the monitor bezels get in the way of navigation. When the Firefox window is all the way to the right of the desktop, the bookmarks toolbar opens inside of the window (as there is not enough space to the right for it).
    Is there any way to force this menu to stay within its boundaries?

    The screen dimensions are "right," but I don't want it to use up any more space on-screen than is in the window.

  • I want multiple Firefox windows open w/different View settings - toolbars displayed in one, not in other. With the new version, I can no longer do that ?

    I want to remove the toolbars in one open instance of Firefox but not in others.......this was possible in the prior version. Now if I change the settings in one instance, it automatically changes in the other open Firefox windows. How I can I make this work as it did before the upgrade? Thanks, Kris

    Thanks a million! It was not intuitive to "swipe" the open applications up but it works perfectly!!
    Thank you

    Marla,
    Sounds like you hid the Menu bar. Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.
    Anonymous,
    Open the View > Toolbars menu and select what you want to see.

  • How do I eliminate a toolbar appears when Firefox boots up?

    AOL has horned in and automatically appears when I bring Firefox up. I don't want to give AOL this space. I don't know how to take it out.

    You should be able to remove a toolbar that is installed as a Firefox extension by going to the Firefox -> Add-ons -> '''Extensions''' list. See this article for detailed instructions:
    * [[Disable or remove Add-ons]]
    If the toolbar has taken over your Firefox search or home page, then see:

  • Since I updated to firefox 3.6 I keep gettin multiple popup windows. This did not happen until after the update. The popups appear as regular windows so popup blockers can not stop them.

    Since I updated to firefox 3.6 I keep gettin multiple pop up windows. This did not happen until after the update. The pop ups appear as regular windows so pop up blockers can not stop them. Why has the new update made my laptop more vulnerable. updates are supposed to be improvements!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == as soon as I updated to ver 3.6

    Im having the same problem, I updated my Iphone 4S to 6.1.3, shortly after that my phone had no audio. It was working fine one minute and then stopped. Was listening to music when sound gave out on me. It wont ring, phone just vibrates even after turning off vibration option. I've tried all the options listed and nothing. My phone has never been jailbroken either. If I connect the earphones is works perfectly. On one of my last calls received, phone's ringtone was heard for about 2 seconds before muting and just vibrating. Ringtone sounded perfect, speakers did not sound damaged.
    What else could be done? I've read several post regarding this and it seems like Apple has no solution to this yet. Very dissappointed.
