Controlling the installation of profiles

I plan to use the IPCU to create profiles for users to access Active Sync and would like to use certificate based authentication.
If I create a custome profile for each user and place their certificate in the profile, how can I prevent them from installing the certificate on multiple iOS devices?

Try restarting your computer and trying again without opening any other programs.

As I mentioned before you need to start the iTunes installation, then do NOT allow it to complete. In other words go all the way to the point that the installer extract the installation files, then STOP right there.
Now look for the temp folder and the files I mentioned in my initial posting. If you don't find the temp folder it may be because you have "Do not show hidden files and folder" selected under "View Tab" in the "Folder Options". You may need to unselec it. If you don't know about hidden files and folders in Windows XP take a look here: http://txpress.blogspot.com/2007/05/show-hidden-filesfolders-in-windows.html
Another possibility is that you may have a different path for your temp folders. To find out where you temp folders are located please do the following:
- Right click on "my computer"
- Select the "Advanced" tab
- Click on "Environment Variables"
Then look for the path for both variables "TEMP" and "TMP" take note of the path and check them out.
Or you may just go to a DOS Prompt and type the following commands:
1 - %temp% and hit enter
2 - %tmp% and hit enter
to both of these commands you will get a reply such as:
'c:\temp' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or bath files.
So by looking at the reply you can see that my temp folder is c:\temp
The above is the temp folder on my machine which I've customized to my own use. Your machine may be different.
I suggest you check for the iTunes temp folder inside both your temp folders locations "TEMP" and "TMP" as they may be in different locations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you allow the iTunes installation to complete you will NOT SEE the iTunes temp folder and files because it will be deleted as soon as iTunes processes the installation.

Since upgrading Windows server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 Standard edition, we get this repetitious critical error in the event log:
Event 1001
Op Code NLS initialization
The NLS operation failed because the registry key Control Panel\International\User Profile cannot be opened. Error code is 2. Error message: The system cannot find the file specified.
We originally found that the regional date settings after changing them in regional settings (DD/MM/YYYY) and they did not inherit properly from the upgrade but they are ok now.
I've looked at HKCU\.Default\Control Panel\International and nothing looks obviously wrong. Country codes, time & date formats are correct.
How do we ascertain the cause of this error and the specific registry key that might be problematic?

Why is the installer stuck on "Checking System Profile-"?

I'm trying to install Flash Catalyst Beta on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard).
The installer starts to work, but then it stops at the point where it checks the system profile (see attached screenshot). It doesn't seem to have crashed as the dock icon allows me to quit without force quitting the application.
I've tried it in my regular user account and the administrator account, but the behaviour is identical.
Any help would be appreciated.

I need to ask you a few questions and request you to perform some more steps
so that I can debug your problem.
1. Have you modified any folder permissions, authorization setup using
Keychain Access utility (or any other tool)?
2. Open a Terminal window, and run the command 'ls -l /tmp' and copy-paste
the output printed on your screen in your reply.
3. Delete all files whose name start with 'asu' in your /tmp folder. Run the
command 'rm -rf /tmp/asu*'. Restart your machine.
4. Launch the Flash Catalyst setup and check if installation proceeds
successfully. If it doesn't, proceed to the step below.
5. Open the folder containing the Flash Catalyst setup. Browse to the
'packages' folder and rename the file 'install.sig' to 'update.sig'. Double
click and launch the Flash Catalyst setup. This will not install the
application but install the Adobe Application Manager. Let me know if you
see a small dialog with a progress bar. Rename back update.sig to
install.sig. Update us your observations. Continue to next step.
6. Launch 'Disk Utility' app (from /Applications/Utilities). Select your OS
partition in the left panel and click on 'First Aid' tab on the top. Click
on the 'Repair Disk Permissions' button at the bottom.
7. Again, launch the Flash Catalyst setup and check if installation proceeds
successfully. If it doesn't, proceed to the step below.
8. Open a Terminal window and navigate to the directory containing the Flash
Catalyst setup. Run the command 'sudo Install.app/Contents/MacOS/Install'
and enter the password. Let me know if the installer launches and on
following the screen instructions do you still see the error screen or does

Can the business transaction be controlled using user status profile?

there is a requirment that in a project there will be 3 stages of approval.
Each stage of approval should allow specific business transaction.
eg. When the project is apporved in 1st stage then only PR's and pln Oders can be raised.
When 2nd stage is approved then PR's can be converted to PO.
When 3rd stage is approved then and Production activity can take place.
I would like know whether user staus profile can be used to control the business transactions? If yes how?
If user status is not possible, can any one help me out?

As per me this scenario can be handled without user status
When the project is apporved in 1st stage then only PR's and pln Oders can be raised.
If ur generating PR/ planned order thru MRP run it is only possible after WBS release.So give the WBS release authorisation to 1 st authority.
When 2nd stage is approved then PR's can be converted to PO.
Put release strategy to PR so that there can be check by autourised person.
When 3rd stage is approved then and Production activity can take place.
Give production order Release authorization to person who is responsible for production planning.
It is not suggestable to look at this scenario for applying user status.

Now I'm doing the stress test on PI and found that some error occurs when executing the test of about 16MB data volume.
Does anyone know some profile parameters (RZ10/RZ11 or someting like that ) to control the data valume going through PI ?

In your XI system, use T Code SXMB_ADM.....got to Integration Engine Configuration....select category-> Runtime...there u will find a parameter MAX_MESSAGE_TRANSFER_SIZE which enables you to set the maximum size in MB of the message packages to be transferred from one system to another in a message transfer....u can set values upto 100 MB.
Another important parameter is EO_MSG_SIZE_LIMIT, u will find this in category Tuning....this parameter enables serial processing....also it is is designed to improve performance since there is often not enough memory to process multiple large messages simultaneously......possible values is 0 - 2,097,151 (KB).

Does Firefox change the installation date in control panel when they upgrade?

I installed Mozilla Firefox in early September. 6 weeks later I noticed the installation date for Firefox in control panel had changed from September to October (appeared as if it had been uninstalled and reinstalled). I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, and I noted the date of installation, October 18. I kept an eye on it. November 5, I checked the control panel, I noted the installation date had changed again, to November 1. Now my dates may be off a day, but is it normal for Firefox to change the installation date when upgrading, and even more disturbing, is it possible to do it without the user knowing it's being done? And remotely?

Each time you update any program, you install it. The installation date in Control Panel will therefore update accordingly. This happens when the installer runs on your system: there's no remote interference involved.
By default, Firefox updates automatically. The setting is found under Options - Advanced - Update. If you click the Show Update History button there, you'll no doubt find Firefox was updated on November 1st.

How to create a profile to control the access to Query Designer 2004s

Hi all,
I saw the note Note 962530 - NW04s: How to restrict access to Query
Designer 2004s , where in alternative solution there is the approach on
how to create a database table and modify the function module to control the access.
However, we need to a security profile check that can prevent or allow
who can access 04s tools. Because this is easy to maintain and we don't need to modify the database table time to time.
Please update if it is feasible to have a check within the profile
of the users to acces 04s query desinger. This way we can control
effectively who can access new tools.

I can suggest that as this is a Security you might wanna ask the Person who is handling Security in your office.
He can add different Roles which can then control their acess.
For e.g. if you want that your user should be able to run Specific Queries a,b,c,d created by you.
I will suggest interact with SEcurity Personal and ask him to create a Role X.
You can then publish your queries in Role X.
So your users will have acess and security for X and they will then run the queries from them.
Likewise, different other options are also there.
If your queries are on Planning cube then things like giving them acess to Tools should take place similarly in different fashion.
Your user can also use Query desinger and can opne queries from Roles .

Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs in control panel after the installation.

I have a strange problem with "Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs after the installation.".
Like, onec the package is installed via SCCM, it should be listed in the Add Remove programs with the package name, version and the install date.
At times on random machine these details are not appended. Although the application works fine on the machine, but the correct details are not populated in Add/ Remove programs.
There is no issue with the package as it shows correct details on few other machine where it is installed.
This behaviour is random on random machines. Hence, very difficult to track the reason.

Yes, i have tried Jorgen's suggestion, ans as said earlier. It install the application smoothly on any other machine (any random machine) perfectly with correct details in Add Remove Programs.
As mentioned earlier, the same package, same environment, same set of machines with same OS, it installs correctly on few machines.. and on few its just misses to add correct details in Add Remove progs.
If it was related to package, how does it install corretly on other machines?? How does the same package installs correctly when done manually or by that means by PSEXEC.
To a matter of fact, we are checking our package for the multiple times now, just to make sure it is buldled correctly with correct install scripts. We are trying to search different multiple ways to see what makes the package to skip the
correct entry in the Add Remove.
To add, this is not with one package, it happens with random package with random machine. There is not typical behaviour that could be tracked.
All the installations done via SCCM 07, with admin account.
This looks more tricky and complex then as simple as saying, its the fault of packaging.
I hate to say this but this is NOT a CM07 problem, You will need to work with your packaging team, and use tools like process monitor,psexec and the msi log to determine why it is failing.
Your first step is to find a pc where you can consistent get the setup to fails. once you get that you can use process monitor and the msi log files to determine what is going on.

My Windows 7 crashed a couple days ago after a windows update, I got this message.
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.
I restarted the machine and got this message

I checked the event Log I found these .
Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.
DETAIL - Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.
Windows has backed up this user profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backup profile the next time this user logs on.
Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile.
DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
This is the first error in the event viewer after a successful logon

hi do the following
1. In Search programs and files (Windows 7) area, type in regedit, and press Enter.
2. If prompted click yes,
3. expand the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
4. click the sid that related to your admin profile (if you not sure, click each sid and in turn look to the right hand side of registry editor it will show who that sid is related to one of the registry files should hae in description localhost\admin or
something similair)
5. right click the sid and press delete.
6. restart your machine and log back on with the admin account, this will then rebuild the admin profile... dont worry when it loads and none of your personal settings are saved or files or folders... go to c:\users
in here you will see two folders for the admin account, one will be just admin and the other most likely admin.localhost
i cant remember which one is which but just check both, one will still have all your files and folders in it.
i suggest making a backup of your data before doing this incase something does go wrong, but ive had this happen many times in a domain enviorment and has worked for me everytime.

Remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC with the new IPad

With the latest version of ITunes for both Win7 and the new IPad, I'm only able to use the new IPad to remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC through wired connection ( ethernet cable ) to the wireless router. As soon as I connect my PC through wireless connection, the new IPad can not find my libraries.
Is this a known issue or am I missing some settings?

I've been unable to locate an app that will do this. The Photos app that comes with the phone or iPad has extremely limited duration controls. PhotoStream seems to load everything from my phone or iPad not allowing me to just load up a set group of images.
iPhoto for iPad is getting some terrible recent reviews. I tried a couple other free apps but they don't use Airplay.
I can do something like this with iPhoto and my MB Air, but it's kind of ugly to have the computer open in order to connect by Airplay to my Apple TV. I've thought the iPad or iPhone would be a lower profile controller.
Am I out of luck?
