Convenience Key on my Torch does not work

Seek your help as the convenience key on my torch does not work. I have changed the setting as well but to no avail.

Hi just an update to the problem of the convenience key not working or working now and again. I had to do a couple of reboots this morning to update some apps and I noticed the key was not working after the reboot so I attached the charging cable to the phone and plugged into the wall socket thinking that will fix it again, but no it didnt. !!! I then remembered the first time I had this sorted I had plugged the charger in and switched the power on and then attached the phone, so I tried this method again and the key is working fine again!!!!. So what ever is happening when you do it in this sequence seems to reset the key. How did you get on with your phone with the Blackberry info?

Thank you again for your suggestions. I deleted the Skype application, but the "Phone" application continues not working. The version of the software that I have is 2.2, and i was told that I cannot update it to the last version, as my iPhone would be blocked doing so
Therefore, following your recommendations, I resseted several times the iPhone, but nothing improved. Thank you anyway for taking your time trying to help me with your suggestions. Josep

Text entry boxes in CP6 - Enter key to validate input does not work in Safari?

I'm using Captivate 6 to create a step by step walkthrough of some different processes that are commonly completed in my workplace. Some of the example processes have portions where text is entered to simulate a process the end user might need. I have text entry boxes in these slides that require validation of the input to move along, with Enter used as a shortcut key. This works great in Firefox, Chrome and IE all the way down to 8....but if the course is run in Safari, the enter key does nothing. Is this a known issue?
Additional info: For many of these text entry boxes, the point is that it is a search field that has a little binoculars icon next to it that executes the search in the actual software we are simulating. For these slides I actually have the submit button associated with the text box made invisible (no fill, no stroke) and placed on top of the binoculars icon. This is an acceptable method of doing the task we're demonstrating, and just so happens to be a workaround for the enter key not working in Safari. However, a few places we have text entry that doesn't have the search/binocular icon next to it because there is a different goal on that section of the software we're visualizing. In those cases, there is no place for me to put an invisible submit button, and I can't make the submit button visible because that's not how the software we're demonstrating would work (thus defeating the purpose of the training).

Sorry, this is a known bug with no fix available yet, but the makers of SwiftKey are aware of it and we will work with them to fix it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=617298
For now, the only solution is to use a different keyboard when using Firefox.

W8: Key combination Fn + F6 does not work

Hello,
I am little bit frustrated with W8 on my T430s. The issue (not the first) is that when I use key combination Fn+F6 it tells me this:
"This key combination opens the Lenovo Settings program. You do not have the Lenovo Settings installed on your computer. To launch the program using this key combination, install the program first."
I am sure that Lenovo Settings Dependency package is installed in the latest version but key combination still do not work.

With your T430s did you upgrade to Windows 8 or what it shipped with Windows 8 OEM?
Only machines that were shipped with Windows 8 OEM currently have the Lenovo Settings App itself. The dependency package is the backend of this App that allows it to work. Those who have upgraded to Windows 8 do not currently have access to this app.
What I have seen on another thread: "We are still working with Microsoft to make the Lenovo Settings app generally available to all users from the Windows Store. It's not quite ready yet. When it is, I'll post here." posted by someotherguy.
If your machine was Windows 8 OEM, you may need to go into the Windows Metro App Store and download the Lenovo Settings App to your machine. I hope this helps.

Tab key on Original Macbook does not work

The Tab key no longer works when trying to tab over, or to tab to the next input box. However when you press Apple key Tab key, this key combo works. I would have thought at first that I had a bad key button for the tab but the fact that apple tab works leads me to think there is some setup I have messed up by accident.

Ok, the problem is in your original User account's Library folder. It could be a preference file. Drag the preferences folder from that Library to the Desktop and reboot into that account. You can always drag the folder back when you are done testing.

Product key for volume license does not work

Hi,
My organization has a MS volume license and I want to install MS Office 2010 Standard SP1 32bit on another computer. I downloaded the software, installed it and then went as instructed to the start menu to launch the program and received a window asking
to enter a Product Key. I enter the key and then receive a message saying it is not a valid office product key. MS phone help confirmed that it is a valid key but then said they would need to charge over $200 to resolve the problem, more than the cost a new
license.

MS Office Standard is a Volume Licensing product - VL products do NOT prompt for a product key.
You can't download VL products from the public internet - only download via the VL customer logon portal (VLSC).
You can't convert a Retail Office product into a VL product.
You will need to obtain the installation source files/media/disc, from the licensing contact/controller in your organisation. (who will obtain it from the VLSC)
If you are the VLSC licensing contact/controller for your organisation, you have downloaded the wrong product.

My backspace key on imac4 keyboard does not work

Please help...it's Feb 2013, and I have just got the latest iMac, and CANNOT get the backspace Key (amongst some others) on the wireless keyboard to work, despite unsuccessfully attempting (using advice from the posts for the old iMac mini) to 're-pair' the keyboard.
There seems to be little advice on what my problem might be....please HELP. (Btw, brand new to apple Mac from being PC veteran.....)

Hi, I have now got ne new wireless keyboard because my old one broke. I connected the keyboard, the F3 key (Mission Control) functions, the F4 key, especially for Lunchpad does not work, I'm Lion on it, previously on the old keyboard I had in 2009, he occupiedwith Launchpad F5.
Have System Preferences / Keyboard / Keyboard Shortcuts reset everything goes ......... but not yet!!

Hi,
Your migration to Lion brought over a previous hot key preferences document. And this contains one bad key that wasn't updated.
- Quit System Preferences (if open)
- Delete this document to remove a carry-over mapping error.
- Then logout
Note: That this will delete any existing modified keyboard assignments. Re-assign changes manually.
Note2: This document is in your users preferences folder.
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist

Secondary monitor does not work after OS X install

My secondary monitor does not work well after OS X install. The image on my secondary monitor is different even the screen svaer image is different and the mouse can not be seen.

Try the easy thing first - NVRAM reset:
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If that does not work, post back with more info, including the version of Mac OS you are running. How is the external monitor connected, did it ever work, and from what OS X to what was the "OS X install" in your title?

E7 lock key switch does not work

Lock key stopped working during some update today. I installed the phone from scratch and installed anna over previous os.
At sometime on the proces lock key stopped working. It does not work neither as led torch switch.
I have found no place to change this key behaviour.

In order to reslove your issue I would suggest performing a soft reset (*#7780# soft reset(security code needed; 12345 by default) and then re-install anna again, should this not work you should consider taking your device to your local Nokia Care Point

TouchPad lock key does not work anymore on Dell XPS L401X

Hi everyone,
On my Dell XPS L401X laptop, there is a key to lock/unlock the touchpad. It used to work fine on Windows and on new fresh install ArchLinux, but now it does not work anymore. If I remember correctly, I did not change, configure any shortcut so far.
Any hint to fix this problem?

QuickTime 7 Pro Key Does Not Work

Apple Store sent me a QT Pro "key" and link to on-line instructions. Nothing works. My System Preferences QuickTime dialog/panel does not have an OK button (or a Register button). It's a dead-end dialog. Email reply to my plea for help from Apple Support said I cannot use the QT 7 Pro key on a Mac with OS X 10.3.9 and QuickTime 7.0.3. Said to reinstall 7.0.1 (downgrading from 7.0.3), which I have done, to no avail. Next, I'm supposed to reinstall QuickTime 6.... MEANWHILE, on an Apple QuickTime Web page, it says that QuickTime 7 Pro REQUIRES QuickTime 7. The Apple Support email also suggested that I cannot use QT 7 Pro unless I have OS X Tiger. The email seems fat fetched, but the on-line info doesn't help either. What do I have to do to get QuickTime 7 Pro running? I've paid in full for the privilege. Thanks.

I appreciate your taking time to reply. Unfortunately, the circumstance you describe does not work on my system, and no one can tell me why or what to do to fix it. Before I went to the Apple online store to buy QuickTime Pro, I already had QT 7.0.3 on my Mac OS X, 10.3.9, system. I paid for QT 7 Pro and got the "key"/registration email from Apple. The email included a link to online installation instructions which do, in fact, tell me to click OK in the System Preferences QuickTime panel (though there is no OK button). I tried again, using your advice, and simply quit System Preferences. Still no QT Pro. When I do a find, Sherlock returns 71 items whose names contain "quicktime." Only one is an application, QuickTime Player v. 7.0.1, No QuickTime Pro. [FYI, though I had QT 7.0.3 on my Mac, the Apple support email told me to "reinstall" 7.0.1, which I did. They actually wanted me to reinstall/downgrade to QuickTime version 6, but I have not done that.] My reason for wanting QuickTime Pro to work is so I can convert AIFF audio files to MP3 audio files. One USB port does not work with external Disk or USB key

Back to my iMAC there is 3 USB port. The second one - in the middle - does not work pluging an external Disk, an USB key or an iPOD nano. However it works well connecting a Wacom tablet.
Is there an explanation to this behaviour ?
More the keyboard is plugded on USB port 1 and the mouse on the keyboard. Time to time - especially at reboot - I have to unplugged the mouse and plugged again it in order it works.

Since it does not work for three different devices, I will assume it is not something simple like a faulty USB cable. Since it does work for one device, I will also assume that the port is (at least partially) working.
As a test to narrow down the cause, I would try restarting from your Mac OS X installation disc (insert disc and restart with the C key held down).
At the first Installer screen (after language selection), go up the menu bar. Under Utilities, select to run Disk Utility. Now, connect the USB drive into that center port. Does it appear in the Disk Utility sidebar?
Please post back the result...
