"Convert file from:" error box

Every time I click on a PDF file to download, the downloads window comes up and shows the download progress, and when the download finishes, a box appears that says "Convert File". In the box it says: Convert file from: then it lists various file types i.e., Text only, MS-DOS Text, Rich Text Format, HTML Document, Single File Web Page, Unicode Text and many more. It is trying to open a PDF file in Microsoft Word. I can't figure out how to change this. Help please?!

That does not sound like Safari behavior. Are you using Safari to download, or another browser such as FireFox?
Edit: Actually, I re-read what you wrote and saw that you said it was trying to open using MS Word. So I think the "convert file" message is coming from Word.
Therefore, I think you have .pdf files currently set to open using MS Word. So after Safari completes the download, it is handing it off to MS Word to open, and MS Words is running and asking how to convert it to one of the formats Word supports.
If the above sounds reasonable based on a lot of assumptions I made, you can try the following. First show any PDF file you already have in a Finder window. Right (Control) click on it, and select +Get Into+. In the Info window, look for +Open with+. In that section, if it currently set to open using Word, select either Preview (default setting) or +Adobe Reader+. Then, click the button below that setting that says +Change All+. This should change the setting so that all PDF files open with whatever app you selected that is not Word.

Convert files from Canon C300

Hi,
I want to convert files from Canon C300, but i can only import one by one file. Is it possible ti import all in the same time?
The Canon C300 files are encapsulated, i just have access to MXF file when i open folder by folder.

As a “test” after reading the discussion, I downloaded the trial version of Elements 10. It contained RC 6.6, which would not do the S100. I “updated”
to 6.7 which finally did the job. I’m really curious as to why the download of Elements 10 doesn’t “ship” with the latest RC? I guess just to maintain
confusion for as long as possible.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble converting a document. For starters, have you verified that your account is active? (You can check by logging in to www.adobe.com and checking under My Subscriptions and Services). Aside from that, I'll need a little more info to get to the bottom of your problem.
Are you trying to convert the file from within Reader, or directly via the ExportPDF website?
What operating system and browser are you using?
How large is the file that you're trying to convert? (There's a file-size limit of 100 MB.)
Is the computer that you're using networked?
Do other files convert without error?

How can I convert files to photoshop elements .PSD format from Photo Explosion .UPX format? I am trying to move work I created with Photo Explosion because that program crashed and will not reinstall and run. I still have Photo Explosion running on an older computer and it will convert my files to PSD but merges all layers.

How can I convert files from pages 08 files without pages 09?

I am extremely dissatisfied with the latest iWork (13?) applications. My 2008 MacbookPro crashed on me, so I purchased a new 15" MacbookPro last month. Due to a known issue that prohibits my new Mac from being restored from my Time Capsule backup (thanks, Apple...), we finally got it worked out so that all my files were restored, but I had to reinstall my applications as I could find them. I had iWork 09 on my old machine, but it was from a family pack years ago, for which I do not have the discs. So, now I don't have Pages 09 to convert all my older files (I had no legitimate reason to convert my graduate work from 08 because it all worked in '08 and '09) so that I can open all my .pages files in Pages. Why would Apple make Pages that cannot open .pages files?! This is quite frustrating, and I'm hoping someone has an answer for how to convert .pages files from iWork '08 so that I can open them in the latest Pages without having to purchase iWork '09 (AGAIN!). Apple is really ramping up its leaving people behind...

Those are your choices.
Buy iWork '09 which is a good solution or somehow reinstall Pages '08 so you can export to Word .doc/x files.
We warned long and hard that not updating to Pages '09 would eventually lead to Pages '08 being left behind, although Apple was particularly ruthless the way it finally did it.
Also that anything using Apple's proprietary formats is going to end up with the same fate.

The 11.1 documentation only says "Enables you to copy files between ASM disk groups on local instances to and from remote instances" and "You can also use this command to copy files from ASM disk groups to the operating system."

Converting files from CS5 to CS6

Hey guys,
I'm trying to save a file that was created using premiere pro cs5 in order to use it on my creative cloud cs6 software. What do I need to save it as in order to do this? Is this possible? Anything would be helpful. Thank you!!

The cs5 video contains multiple photoshop files saved as jpegs. I saved it as a copy like you said but when trying to open it in cs6 it keeps asking me where each particular jpeg is located and then if I just click on the premiere pro file, an error message pops up saying "Fire format not supported." Any ideas? Am I out of luck/need to start from scratch?

How do I convert files from .mts to something recognizeable by iMovie?

I've been trying to convert .mts files saved on a hard drive (I don't have the original file structure from the camcorder) into into something readable by iMovie. I have tried all the available formats in Toast Titanium, but the converted files are always greyed out in iMovie when I try to import them.
This has been extremely frustrating, and has led me to wonder what Apple was thinking when they made iMovie so picky about what it will accept. I've looked on various forums, but haven't found any solutions to my proble, so any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Before purchasing my Intel MacBook Pro I used a much earlier version of Voltaic to convert my AVCHD footage into AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) for use in iMovie '08. It was slow but worked very well.
iMovie '09 actually converts AVCHD clips into the AIC format when importing the MTS files from a camera or from a FULL camera archive. The full archive includes all the contents of the camera, including the clips index - as you've discovered. However, Voltaic only needs the clips, not the full camera contents.

One of the main features of FTP's ascii mode is that it adjusts the line-ending characters based on the server's and client's operating system. It's a reasonable guess that these characters are the source of the OP's problem and that he's a beginner who doesn't know what he's doing. (The use of JSP scriptlets supports that theory.)
In which case that Java code could be adapted to do the same thing, although it would have to determine the operating system of the client. This is sort of possible, but not for somebody who is just looking for code snippets to get their job done.
However that's just one guess. There are other possible problems including character encoding: the input file can be read as UTF-8, which is hard-coded into the code, but perhaps the client is interpreting the non-ASCII characters in some other encoding. This would also cause "weird characters" to appear.
At any rate it would be useful for the OP to do some basic research like finding out what these bad characters are.
