Converted Project to CC 2014 mono audio panned.

I've just downloaded the PPCC2014 update but it has incorrectly interpreted all my mono files in my sequence as panned-left, when in the project previously pan was ignored in the mono files.
How can I ignore or remove panning from all the audio files in my sequence, without having to map to stereo? (Which is time-consuming and cluttered).
Cheers,
James

Yes, Pluraleyes 3.
When they originally came through from Pluraleyes there was an issue with them also, but because it was at the beginning of the project I could easily swap out each clip simply by revealing in Finder and dragging the file into the timeline from Finder. But now I have a 3 hour assemble.
When I reveal in project, the mono audio files are not panned. So I can simply match frame and overwrite the timeline clip (thanks to PPCC2014's new Match Framing behaviour it's only a 2 key combination). But I'm not sure why the problem happened in the first place, and it would be easier if you could just remove panning, but when I go to remove effects "panning" is not one of them.
Cheers,
James

  • Mono audio panning quirk

I'm having trouble with several mono audio clips(sound effects and a voice). I want them to sound like they're on the left or right of the on screen action so I pan them over. Only there's no sound if it's 100% left or right.
Let me be clear... some tracks die when max Left and one dies when max Right...
The audio is nothing special. Most of it is simple wav format stuff I found on the internet. One is a track I recorded.
My speakers work fine(I thought I was going deaf there for a while though) and I even tried my iPod head phones... to no avail. The audio still vanishes.
Here's where it gets strange. The audio even drops out when I export the sequence to a quicktime file. I read the stuff here about mixdown and did that... no luck... still dead.
What should I look for? What am I doing wrong? Is there some setting that's wrong in FCE HD? Or should I just give up and pan the clips more center and move on?
    Thanks

    Answer!
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300832
Apparently some 3rd party app or multimedia content item automatically reset my audio output setting to a higher rate(better quality) which I'm betting FCE doesn't support. Also one of the sliders for setting the output levels was completely off(0) and even when adjusting the system volume would not move. A quick reset(just dragged the slider to its partner) and all those pesky tracks that wouldn't pan now pan.
Read the apple support doc above for a more complete (and more technical) description of what's wrong and how to fix it... if you run into the same thing.

  • Convert iMovie 3 to HD 6 & Mono Audio

So I just converted an iMovie 3 file copied to my working external drive into iMovie HD 6. All seemed fine until I realized I was only getting mono sound from my project. The original iMovie 3 file is in stereo when I play it on my old Mac under iMovie 3. What's going on here? Am I going to have to go back to the original files and start from scratch to use it in iMovie HD 6? BTW, I'm up-to-date on everything software wise.

no idea why this happens, but an option is ...:
you could export the audio (stereo) only from within iM3 (Quicktime/ExpertSettings, choose "aiff"); import THAT aiff into the iM6 version of that project.. switch off the audio of the video-track... done.
besides: we read lots of reports about trouble opening older projects with newer versions of an app. .. it is recommended, NOT to upgrade in the midths of a project.. allthough the ads tell us, it is possible ..
if you like to "spice up" older projects with new effects, export to tape and import into a newer version.. for sure, doing so generates the project into one, single solid clip.. no individual, editable clips...

  • Problem opening a converted project from previous version of Premiere CC, in Premiere CC 2014.

Hello. This is the problem. When I try to open with premiere pro CC 2014 a converted and actualized CC 2014 version of a project created previously in a previous version of premiere, the software crash.
Said in other words if it doesn't clear:
    - I created a project in Premiere CC
    - I actualized the project to Premiere CC 2014
    - I worked in the project with the new Premiere CC 2014 for few days and suddenly, I cannot open the project and the software crash.
I hope you understand my problem. Sorry about my english. I'm not native english speaker.
Thanks for your help and support.

Rather than opening directly, try importing the project via the Media Browser Window.
Much more efficient as you'll have more options.

  • How to convert mono audio to stereo during import?

When I shoot my videos for YouTube I use an external mic which works great but when my camera records it, it is mono sound, so only the left channel of my source videos contain the talking.
In the previous version of iMovie 9 I used to be able to export using QuickTime and convert the audio to mono so the final video which is uploaded has sound coming out of both speakers.
Honestly I don't care what format my exported files are in, as long as they're HD and the audio is good. So the new .mp4 file format is no problem for me with iMovie 10.0.1
In the lastest version of iMovie (10.0.1) I can't see a way to convert my mono audio to "real" mono or stereo sound (whatever it's called) so the sound comes out of both speakers. Having the talking only coming out of one speaker now makes me look like an idiot on YouTube.
I tried a stereo/mono adapter where the mic connects to the camera but it resulted in no sound. So I'm hoping I can use an audio fix somehow using iMovie 10.0.1 to fix 'er up. What are my options guys?
Yes I'm aware I can still use iMovie 9, which is what I've reverted back to until I can fix this problem.
    Thanks.

For now, I think that is the best choice.
You could also buy QuickTime Pro 7 which will allow you to do the same mono conversion that iMovie version 9 does.

  • CS4 CS5 converted project = audio error

    Anyone come across this:
I have a project that was converted from After Effects CS4 to CS5, that shows the following strange behaviour in CS5:
The comps contain layers that consist of AIFF audio files. When doing an audio preview (.) or a RAM preview, the audio does not play the part of the AIFF file that, according to the time-code, it should play. It starts where it should, but then suddenly it skips a few seconds to another part of the AIFF. All that while the red indicator bar suggests it is still playing lineair as it should (the red line does not "skip" to another point.
This leaves me with an unworkable situation, as it is quite unpredictable which part of the audio will play right...
As far as i can tell this behaviour only happens with a converted project (CS4 > CS5) in After Effects.
But when I started a new project in Premiere Pro I got the same skipping audio with a totally new project!
Converted back to CS4 for now.

  • Loss of audio panning effects with timeline audio of Sync type "Stream"

I have a Flash animation which is loaded into a parent master Flash file. In the animation, there is voice audio embedded in the timeline which is synced with a character animation. The Sync type of the audio is set to Stream, which is essential for the mouth movements to match the audio. When I try to pan the voice audio so that it comes only out of the right speaker, it sounds fine during preview playback, but after publishing, all of the panning effects are lost. If I change the Sync type to "Event" or "Start", the panning effects work fine, but the audio is terribly out of sync with the animation.
The source audio is a mono audio file. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I've tried changing the publish settings for both the parent and the child animation Flash files to be Speech, Mp3 mono, Mp3 Stereo and just about every other option, with no desirable results. I have also tried publishing and running the animation without loading it through the parent file, also no results.
Is there some kind of rule in Flash about Stream versus Event audio and panning? Do I need to use a stereo audio source file? I don't currently have access to the original audio files, but I can get them. Are all Stream type sounds automatically converted to mono at runtime or something??
Thank you thank you thank you

According to the Adobe installation information the trial version of Premiere Elements 11 is fully functional and the watermark is only present until a licence code is purchased.
I have edited AVI footage from a camcorder using the program with no problems (and no loss of audio sync) and the watermark is also present with this.
The odd placement of audio and video was caused by my not dragging the clip carefully enough.
What is odd is that the clip plays completely normally using WIndows Media Player and VLC Media player so I would expect Premiere Elements to be able to handle it without problems.
I think that there is some sort of bug in Premiere Elements' handling of mpe4 files (both in versions 10 and 11) rather than there being anything wrong with my computer.
Is there some way of communicating this directly to the Adobe programers ?
I enclose screenshots of the project settings:

  • How to preserve multiple mono audio in Multicam sequence?

I'm a new FCP7 -> Premiere convert and seem to be unable to preserve true multiple mono audio in a multicam source sequence.
I have 3 video clips, each with 2 mono audio channels, interpreted correctly as multiple mono (showing as "2 Mon" in Project panel).
When I "create multi-camera source sequence" in project panel using the 3 clips, Premiere Pro Cs6 is creating a sequence with a Master audio track that is stereo.  I cannot find a way to converting the stereo Master audio track to multiple mono audio track after the sequence is automatically created.  When I look in "Sequence Settings" of the multi-cam sequence, there is no "Tracks" tab that is used to set this up in a new sequence.  I have also tried switching all the preferences/audio settings to Mono with no luck.
Note:  This problem is NOT related to enabling/disabling the additional audio tracks in the multicam sequence, I understand that only track 1 of a multi-cam sequence is enabled by default.
    Thanks,
    Robert

When I "create multi-camera source sequence" in project panel using the 3 clips
Don't do that.  Do things "old school".  Meaning you manually create an "Original" sequence for the 3 clips, add them in and sync them up.  You then manually create a second "Multicam" sequence and nest the "Original" into that.  Right click and Enable Multicam.
Doing it that way, you'll have the option to specify what type of audio tracks you want for each sequence.

  • Premiere Pro CC file imported to PPCC 2014 missing audio

I've been working on a project in Premiere Pro CC for several months and just downloaded the 2014 update. When I loaded my project file into PPCC2014, the file was converted, but now most of my audio clips are empty. The video is there, but no audio information at all. How do I get it back? Thanks.

Answered my own question...it merely needed time to render.

  • Is there a MONO audio setting in PE 10?

My AVI files which were transferred from tape have audio coming out of the right channel only.  In creating projects, is there a way to set the audio output to MONO so that I can get sound out of both channels?  I only see options for Dolby Stereo, PCM stereo, and MPEG stereo.
Any help any help is appreciated!

If you have only a 1-channel (mono) Audio Stream, and the Fill-Right, or Fill-Left*, is not getting you what you need, one other method would be to Duplicate your mono Audio Clip, and place it onto another 1-channel Audio Track. Then, go into Audio Mixer and Pan one mono to the Right, and the other to the Left. I would not Pan 100% for either, just so that you have a little Phantom Center in the resultant mix-down. This can be very useful.
One can also use an audio-editing program, like Adobe Audition, or even the great, free Audacity, to create the 2-channel (stereo, or dual-mono) Audio file, by doing about the same thing, as described above for Audio Mixer.
    * A problem can arise, if one has only a true 1-channel Audio Stream. The Fill-Right, or Fill-Left, works fine, if one has a 2-channel Audio file, with only the one Audio Stream, i.e. one channel has Audio, and the other one is silent.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Capture and Export of Mono Audio in FCP HD

I have just upgraded to FCP HD from FCP 3. My problem is all of my audio needs to be Mono only. In v3 this was simple I just chose Mono from the capture settings and Mono for Export.
On FCP HD I can't find any way to capture and export as Mono. When I record Voice Over in FCP all I get is the right channel and even when I set it to pan centre it still only comes out the right speaker after export.
If I've got to manually duplicate tracks everytime it will take me forever.
Anybody know a simple way to capture and export Mono only (the same for both Ch 1 + 2)
    G4 DP 1.25   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

This might seem the long way 'round but it may save a ton of time in the end.
Do your FCP mix in stereo as Colin suggests, then take the final audio track into STP or Peak and do a "mix to mono" and then save a new AIFF file with the resulting mono clip.
Then bring that back into FCP on a new audio track, line it up with the stereo, then either disable or delete the stereo tracks. This will give you a true mono audio track.
But where are you going with this content that will handle mono audio? DVDs require a stereo AC3 files. Are you sure you really need a mono sound track?

  • Problems with imported mono audio with stereo HD video FCE4

This is with Final Cut Express 4.
So here is what I am doing: I am recording video of my flight lessons inside my airplane with a mounted Panasonic HDC-TM90 HD camera.  Since it is noisy inside the plane, I am using an Olympus VN-4100PC digital voice recorder to pick up the Air Traffic Control and Intercom within the airplane (between me and my instructor) which is 22 KHZ mono.  I am doing this because I want the sound of the airplane and also the communication so everything works together and you get the best of both worlds (otherwise you would hear one or the other and that's pretty boring).  Ok, enough with the intro.
Here is what I am having problems with -- when I get the video, stereo audio with the video and the mono audio all lined up in FCE in my timeline, it starts to get out of sync about 10 minutes or so into the film.  And it gets worse as the film goes on.  This is driving me nuts and I have NO idea out to fix it.
The only thing I can think of is that my Digital Voice Recorder is recording at a slightly faster speed than the camera's audio and this is why it gets out of whack.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?  Or at least give me an explanation why it is happening?
    Thanks for any help!!

Thanks for the reply.  I did this and it still doesn't seem to be matching up properly.  Tell me if maybe I missed something.
    1. I took the original .WAV file from my Digital Recorder and imported it into iTunes and then converted it into an .AIFF.
    2. I took the .AIFF file and imported it into MPEG Streamclip and exported it as another .AIFF file that was Stereo and 48kHz.
Is there a step I missed?

  • Export to media with mono audio

I am working on a project that is using footage that has been recorded to the camera in stereo using both tracks, and in stereo using only the left track. I am a novice with Premier Pro and wondering how to export this project to media with the audio in mono. I need to export it as a SD file for Vimeo, and also as a MPEG2_DVD.
The church I'm doing the project for has complained that when playing the video through their projection system that all the audio that was recorded to only the left track was not playing when I exported the files as stereo.
The project also has other audio tracks (background music, etc) that are stereo.
    Thanks for your help
I am using Premier Pro CS5

I tried using the fill right effect and got a muted result. Someone told me a long time ago that if you put the exact same signal on both tracks of a stereo audio file that they will cancel each other out. Apparently they were correct because when I applied the fill right effect my audio was silent, I only got it back when I removed the effect.
So if I create a sequence with a mono master track can I nest other sequences into it that were created with a stereo master track?
I've already created about 1-1/2 hours worth of sequences that represent chapters and would prefer not to have to recreate them all.

  • Mono audio for Apple devices

I'm trying to compress 3 1/2 hours of video to under 2 GB to create an iPhone app under the 2 GB limit. I've compress the video to 640 x360, 24 fps, 1.1 Mb per second, and 128 kbps stereo for the audio. I'm currently at 2.1 GB, just over the 2 GB limit for iPhone apps. I can't seem to find a way to convert or select 64 kb mono instead of 128 kb stereo. When I select “Apple devices” I only get the option of 128 kbps stereo. does anyone have a suggestions how I can create a file of the same specifications with 64 kb mono instead?
    Thank you

It is a four hour video training app. It's actually highly compressed. get it down to 1.95 GB using the following settings in compressor: 640x380, 1Mb per second, 64 kbps mono, 24 fps, QuickTime .mov format.
I couldn't figure out how to make it 64 kb per second mono using .m4v format. I was able to do it using .mov.
The app developer is looking into the specifications that Apple needs to see if I can submit .mov files to them to put into the app.
The quality looks great on an iPhone and decent on an iPad.
Any thoughts to my original question on how to get Mono out of a .m4v setting in Apple compressor?
    Thank you.
