Converting mulitple Porg to one Porg

We are in the process of converting multiple Porg's to only one.  So far we have only looked at converting vendor masters and altering security roles for PO Create.  Will existing contracts have to be re-created pointing to the one Purch Org (0001).  We have 30 contracts with over 1400 line items.
Is there any need to restrict the security roles for requisition creators?  We're limiting security to allow new PO's to be created only for 0001.  For requisitions in R/3, if vendor is entered as fixed or desired vendor, the POrg for that vendor defaults into the requisition. Correct?  We will need to force the POrg for the selected vendor to 0001.  I don't think we can force this unless we set some restrictions around security?  We will need to have the old POrg vendors still be active in order to maintain their PO's so it's possible set the POrg in the requisition to the POrg associated with the vendor number that the user chooses?

Are you the only one in the new project? You are covering a quite big range.
I'm wondering: aren't there purchasing views (EINA/EINE)? You would need a conversion for them, too. The old ones can get a 'valid-to', but they should stay in the system until business (and documents) are finished on this area.
When you restrict authorization (security roles), you might run into problems changing the existing ones -> not better than deleting of the old Porg immediately.
30 contracts with 1400 lines sounds pretty small to me, but maybe just because I never had to maintain them manually. How about restricting the validity period and creating (by copy, maybe with an own program) new ones in Porg 0001?
If you don't have purchase prices based on purchasing view, the old contracts are restricteg in date - I guess you wouldn't find a condition for the wrong Porg in the new period and run into a error message -> enough to be reminded to change the Porg?
Purchase organization determination is a combination of site master data (you can assign stores to Porg), available purchasing views, available vendor views. You talk about fixed vendor, sound like you plan to use order book - but I woudn't create entries for EVERY article/store combination.
A combination of marked as deleted (but not archived) purchasing view in vendor, validity restricted contracts (and maybe inforecords) should be enough. Usually SAP does not restrict a PO creation at all - you can create purchasing views automatically based on PO (if system is set up in this way). Only a process starting with the contracts can restrict this a little better - and here the validity period is my key idea.
