Converting PDF to WORD DOCX

I downloaded the free 30 day trial of Adobe XI Pro so that i can convert a pdf to a word doc, something that comes with the free trial i installed, however, i'm allowed to do nothing but the basics within the upgraded version. Can anyone tell me of an easy way to convert a pdf into a word docx?

Thanks! I tried earlier to"Save As", though it only saved an uneditable copy into word. I used "Save as other">Word Doc" and it worked! Thanks Again!

Why does it take so long to convert my PDF to word.docx? It has been going for more than 30 minutes.

There could be several reasons. It may be that Acrobat spent that time trying and ran into too many bottlenecks. As a test you might print the PDF to a new PDF and try the conversion on the new PDF. It might be there is a problem with the original PDF that the print process would fix..

  • Free trial version stopped converting pdf to word file

    Hello -
I recently downloaded the free trial versio nof Adobe Reader XI, and for one day I was able to convert pdf files into Word files (doc, docx). I have not been able to do so since. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail. The furthest I can get is to click on the convert button within reader, and then when I click on 'view converted files' I am sent to a website that asks me to subscribe in order to use the conversion function. This looks to be a somewhat common bug with this software, which leaves me very little confidence that this would be a worthwhile purchase (I am a writing teacher and would like the ease of converting back and forth in the long term).
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank you and all best,
    Jen

Adobe Reader is free software; there is no trial for it.
The ExportPDF online service, initiated through Adobe Reader, is subscription based.  To the best of my knowledge there is no trial either.
The only trial there is to convert PDF to Word/Excel is Adobe Acrobat.

I have converted PDF to word doc but cant open because I have word 7. Do I need new word

I don't know what version of Word that is, it may be very old indeed.
    Apparently, the basic compatibility is
DOC files - Word 97 onwards
DOCX files - Word 2007 onwards (add on for Word 2003 available)

  • Converting pdf to Word 2003 in Acrobat 9 Pro

I am using Acrobat 9 Pro.  I want to convert pdfs to Word 2003.  I have followed the instructions to export to Word, but when I get to the dialog box that selects the conversion method, I choose Flowing, which is recommended, and click OK, and I get an error message that my PDF document may be corrupt.  This happens with every pdf, whether it is a form downloaded from the internet or a text document I have created myself.  If I try to convert to RTF instead, it makes the "conversion", but in doing so, it creates a file containing an image that is not editable -- it does not create a plain text, editable file.
Is the problem that I am using Word 2003?  Word 2003 is not on the list of file formats to which the pdf can be exported, but when I get to that screen, I choose Workshare PDF in Word (which I believe I read somewhere is the correct choice for conversion to Word 2003) as my selection and it gets me to the "conversion method" screen (which gets me to the corruption error message). Again, even if I choose rtf, I do not get an editable document.
    Any ideas???

    Something to try -
    Export the PDF to RTF.
Open the RTF file with Word Pad.
Save As (perhaps to a new filename -- 'something_bis.rtf')
Open this file with MS Word.
Not particularly surprising that the PDF you posted behaves poorly when 'worked' with Acrobat.
It is an output of Ghostscript.
Compounding the awkwardness of export is the fact that the PDF is not a Tagged PDF.
A significant raison d'etre for Tagged PDF is to support export of PDF content to a word processor application.
    Be well...

  • Error when I sign in to the Convert PDF to Word feature

When I sign in to the Convert PDF to Word feature, after I enter my password I get a message "An error occurred while signing in" and the feature locks up, giving the same message if I use the "convert" button, can anyone help with this.  Adobe Support sent 3 emails to reset my password all of which timed out before I could get to them. I have changed my password and it is still the same. Help please.

    Hi bert090909,
Are you trying to convert your files from within Adobe Reader? If so, please make sure that you have the most current version by choosing Help > Check for Updates. Earlier versions of Reader could cause the specific error that you're reporting.
Please let us know how it goes.

having problems converting pdf to word. I'm not able to convert the file, what do I need to do?

    Hi prates77,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble converting files. Are you receiving the conversion error regardless of the file that you try to convert? Does the error occur whether you use the web interface, or convert via Reader? And an odd question: how many files do you have stored in your Acrobat.com account? We have seen reports of this error when there are a large number of files stored in the root folder of your Acrobat.com account.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Best,
    Sara

Once again, my thanks for your assistance. If I may impose on your generosity one more time, if I understand you correctly if I create a document on Word or WordPerfect, print it and scan it to create a pdf, the search function will not work. But, if I create the pdf document in Word the search function will work. Unfortunately, I am not sure how I create a pdf document in Word other than by printing it and scanning it. Could you please explain.

  • How do I convert PDF to word on a mac?

    Hi,
I'm new to apple products and i'm struggling to find how i convert a pdf file to word.  On a PC the option automatically popped up on the file or edit and right click.  There is no right click on a mac from what I can see and there is no option in file or edit.
    Any help grately received.
    Thanks in advance
    Jo

I've found that some of the non-Adobe converters (and some of the free online converters) don't do such a good job as Acrobat Pro. If you want to try it out, you can download one of the free 30-day trial packages from Adobe that include Acrobat Pro X (such as Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard),
but it is really very expensive, but there are many other third pary PDF converter progarms out there:

  • Converting PDF to word using OCR

How do I convert a PDF file to Word format without the text changing on the Word document?

    Hi IBEW45,
OCR is enabled by default when you convert a PDF to Word via the ExportPDF website. Just make sure that you're selecting the correct language for character recognition.
If you're converting to Word from within Reader, it is possible to disable OCR. If you're encountering issues where there are odd characters in the converted Word file, you may be running into font issues. A good troubleshooting technique is to disable OCR. Here are the instructions: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.
Please let us know how it goes.
