Copy and paste in Captivate parallels

I am running Captivate in Windows via Parallels. My Photoshop
is installed on the Mac side of my computer. I am having trouble
copying backgrounds from Captivate and pasting into Photoshop to
edit them. Does anyone know of a work around other than copying
from Captivate, sending the image through e-mail to the Mac side of
my computer, downloading the image and opening it photoshop, saving
the image to a shared folder and importing the corrected image into
Captivate as a background.
When I was running Captivate off of a pc i could just copy
from Captivate and paste right into Photoshop. HELP ME!! Any
suggestions?

I would think the answer would lie in saving the image to
your hard drive and bypassing all the E-Mail action. Then you just
bounce over to Photoshop and open it up off the hard drive.

Captivate 6 - Cannot copy and paste to different slides

Hello,
I have recently spent some time creating an Captivate template to use for my company' s eLearnings. I noticed when I created a project from this template, I am not able to copy and paste objects (eg buttons) from one slide to the next in the new cptx file.
   As a test, I created a simple dummy template, and then created a project from this dummy template, and I have the same problem.
   Within the dummy template, I can copy and paste objects to a new slide, but within my company's template, I cannot.
Note: the pasted object doesnt show up on the stage nor the timeline.

Thanks. Yea, I think I incorrectly used the template.   I inserted a number of text captions (not place-holders) into my template, and these annoyingly essentially became master slides within my .cptx project - in other words, any inserted slide in the new .cptx project placed after one of these "template" slides inherted the text captions from the "template" slide, and I couldn't delete these text captions. I essentially had to delete the "template" slide and rebuild it within the .cptx project. What is even weirder, is the inherted, un-wanted text captions did not appear during playback or in the film-strip, but only were visible on stage in "editing" mode.

Cannot copy and paste objects in my project... Captivate 6

I actually wrote about this yesterday, but I would like to mention it again because it's a big problem. I have a Adobe Captivate 6 project, and I cannot copy and paste text captions, buttons, smart shapes, etc. Do any of the experts out there have any advice? Solution : I created a new project and copied and pasted the slides from the old project to the new project. Copy and paste works as it should in the new project.

Problems copying and pasting multiple slides from one captivate to another.

I have been able to copy and paste several slides into
another captivate and suddenly this has stopped working. I am using
the ctrl key to select multiple slides (a set of 3) and the using
the Edit drop-down to select copy slide. Then, I click on the other
captivate and click paste slides. It is only bringing 1 slide, the
first one, and not the 2nd and 3rd... any ideas. I've had another
set of eyes look over my shoulder... and we're both scratching our
heads.
Also, for some reason the text entry boxes are being copied,
but the failure caption associated with it does not come along. It
also copied the button but lost the association with the text entry
box. WTH?

This might work, this might not. I have copy paste problems
on a regular basis and all that works for me is closing Captivate
down and then re open and continue. At worst, a reboot tends to
solve this glitch in my experience.

Copy and paste graphics in Captivate

i am trying to copy and paste graphics to a demonstration created in Captivate 5 from a Powerpoint and i am unable to do so, i have to save the graphic as a Jpeg file and they insert it as an image,
in the past i was able to copy and paste graphics from PP to an existing demo without a problem.
can anyone tell me if there is something i need to change in the properties to get this resolved?

Copy-and-paste into Snow Leopard's Mail from Parallels 5.0 doesn't work

After upgrading Leopard to Snow Leopard, my Parallels 3.0 application no longer worked. Since I had an invitation to beta test Parallels 5.0, I took advantage of that opportunity.
Since then, there has been a problem "copy-and-pasting" from an Internet Explorer window into an Apple Mail document. Parallels has a new feature that copies text with formatting. What ends up getting pasted into Mail is the text plus about 6 inches of blank space below it. It seems like the text is married to a large graphic element.
Further hints: There's a black "X" in the circle at the upper left of it, and the text+blank_space block has its own vertical and horizontal scroll bars within the Mail document window.
If anyone can suggest a solution, I would be very grateful. If I can send a screen shot of what I'm describing.

It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread. When I copy and paste text into Captivate 8, special characters disappear

I'm trying to copy and paste text from a PDF into Captivate 8. When I paste, all the accent marks disappear. (for example: ê shows up as e). I've tried pasting into other applications, and the special characters paste correctly, so it's a Captivate problem. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a quick fix?

Have you tried importing it with standard workflow instead of coyping and pasting.
Is the resolution of your powerpoint presentation and Captivate Project same, make sure it is same, else, it would rescale it to fit on the sldie, rescaling might detoriate the quality.

Captivate file suddenly unable to record/import/copy and paste - shuts down with error message.

I have a project with lots of recording and I am now unable to do any of the following. Suddenly when I try to:
add a new recording slide
import a recording slide from another file (one by one)
copy and paste a recording slide from another file
Captivate freezes and shuts down because it incorporated an error. Then it tells me that another instance of captivate is recording and to shut it down when I re-open it and try to record again. (there isn't another open)
I have tried:
opening it and renaming it and shrinking the file size, but if I need to do one more recording it freezes on the new file.
opening a new file and recording. this works, but the problem is that I cannot import or paste the other slides from the original file into the new file to make it complete. I also cannot import this new recording into my original file to make it complete.
opening the backup and trying to import or record.
saving it under a new name and trying to import or record.
Any sugestions?

How to NOT retain formatting when copying and pasting text

Captivate 7 keeps the formatting from my text sources when I paste into a Text Caption which is not what I need. Anything I could find in the forums where questions relating to "keeping" the source formatting. I don't want this, I want Captivate to keep its text formatting when I paste text into a text caption. I even did a test creating a new project and using one of the Cap 7 themes. If I paste text in the default capture caption style object, it retains the formatting of the copied text source. I have been working with Captivate 7 since a few months now and, until this morning, when I copied and pasted text from another source into my Captivate Text Caption, it retained the format of my Captivate Text Caption object. This is exactly what I need. How can I get this behavior back?

Well, first I would report it as undesired behavior and possibly ask for an enhancement that allows us to right-click and paste without formatting. Do this using the link below:

For now, you have a couple of options.
1. Perform a side trip. Open a text editor such as Windows Notepad or Apple Textpad and paste, then copy back to the clipboard. Then paste the text into the caption. (When pasting into the text editor, formatting is stripped)
2. On Windows machines, you can usually find a clipboard utility that allows you to paste as pure text. In fact, one such application is called PureText.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

CS4 problems copying and pasting masked items

The problem: Copying and pasting a placed image combined with other Illustrator art with multiple gausian blurs that have been masked/grouped. Placed image type does not matter. PDF, JPG, TIFF, etc placed in Illustrator CS4 (or 3). Some images are complex and others are not.
What happens: After copying and pasting, the masked (grouped) image breaks apart into separate components that are no longer masked/grouped. Happens with different files with different images on different computers. WIth or without text in document. Sometimes image pastes correctly but most times it does not.
Hardware/OS: 3 separate iMacs (20" and two 23") all with intel chips but different processing speeds. All running latest and most updated version of Leopard. All with 4 MB Ram and more than a 100 GB of free hard drive space.
Software: Illustrator CS4 (latest update) and CS3 on one of the 23" iMacs.
Solutions tried so far: Ran Onyx, repaired permissions, scripts, cleaned caches, zapped PRAM and on one iMac, ran Disk Warrior. Tried in Safe boot mode and tired with a new user account. Created new files with new images and tried old files. Tried opening files from the server and from the desktop. Threw out illustrator prefs and emptied trash.
Thought it may have to do with font conflicts but some files don't have fonts. Turned off font management programs (Suitcase on one iMac, Font Explorer Pro on others, all updated to latest version) and restarted so only system fonts loaded. No luck. Turned on fonts used in various documents, still no luck.
Thought it may have to do with memory issues after copying masked items. Sometimes the copied image would paste correctly and then the next time I pasted it, it would not. Before pasting a second time I would copy a small item (to clear the memory) and then paste it and then recopy the masked item and paste that. Still no luck.
Checked activity monitor but nothing looks to be a memory hog or out of place. Happens on all three iMacs and while the OS and Illustrator are common to all three, Fonts and font management tools are not. No weird plug-ins or third party extensions installed. Plus it happened in safe boot mode so all extraneous fonts and such should have been deactivated.
Curiously, if I drag copy the masked item using the option key, the masked item copies fine. I know this can be used as a work-around but I would like to resolve this as sometimes the designers need/want to use command-c/command-v.
Not sure what else to try. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you.

Copy and Paste not working

I have Captivate 6.0.1.240.
I am having a problem with Copy and Paste. When I copy an element on one screen and try to paste it, you can see the quick messages that an activity is taking place, but the element doesn’t actually get pasted. This used to work fine and just stopped working.
I have tried:
Restarting Captivate
Restarting the entire laptop
Clearing the cache
Renaming the Captivate folder in Users (suggested by a Captivate Blog)
In addition, another intermittent problem is that text in a caption window will disappear when I click out of the field.
Ordinarily, these kinds of problems are memory problems, but I have a late model Dell with 16 Gig of RAM, and in any case, restarting isn’t helping. I have searched the Internet for this issue and a few people reported similar problems, but not many. No real solutions.
I can't get version 6.0.1.319 because I bought Captivate from Adobe as a product, not a subscription, but I don't know if that is the fix. Copy and Paste worked fine for months, then stopped working.

Are you copying and pasting the items in the same project (from one slide to another) or are you copying something out of Captivate and then pasting it in there?
Does the pasted item show up in timeline?
Try running Adobe Captivate as administrator if it is Win 7 or later (Right click on Captivate icon, then run as admin).

"copy and paste" not working only offers "cut"

I have a client working on an 11" MacBook Air purchased early this year reporting that she cannot access copy and paste across applications:
"At the moment I can’t COPY anything in Word or indeed any other documents, including emails etc. Driving me mad. Only the CUT option comes up - and as I’m working against a deadline… "
And she also reports this issue with Apple Mail which seems to have lost its preference file settings:
"Also bloody Mail programme has now changed its layout and everything is bloody FIXED - so I can’t move it about the screen while I dig up another document I need to refer to. It wasn’t like this before… again very labour intensive and irritating. I have to use my online Google mail to get around this resistance… "
I have suggested that she uses Disk Utility to repair permissions on her Hard Disk and then restart in Safe Mode to see whether Copy and Paste is restored and also that Mail is back in order, through a corrupted Preference file may require resetting.
Any body else seen any of these symptoms or have any thoughts as to a cause and a possible solution. At the back of my mind is the thought that she may have been hit by a Trojan. I'm reminded of the strange symptoms experienced by clients using MS Office when the Flashback Trojan struck in 2012.
Any help appreciated.

I have found various other explanations – still following links discovered through DuckDuckGo – raising the possibility that other utilities may be interfering, such as Koteri for those switching between English and Japanese and perhaps the most likely explanation, that my client has accidentally engaged some element of the Accessibility controls.

If you have ever inadvertently engaged keyboard zoom you will know how odd the Mac feels with such changed behaviours in place. Perhaps my client did thunder on the option key 5 times in a moment of frustration and make the leap into a parallel universe where the reassurance of Copy and Paste does not apply.
I'll report back once I've investigated further.
