Copy Paste content from PDF shows a missing character

Our website, a4academics provides a platform for sharing academic projects and seminar reports in PDF for Students. We are getting a complaint from students, that when they copy and paste the content from PDF, the word " F " is not getting copied in some reports. What might be the reason ? Is it because of the issue with the software which created the PDF report. Its happening in few PDF files only.

I had copy pasted a part of the report to notepad++. Its appears as shown below. F is missing in defining
"de ning the "Einthoven triangle" - an equilateral triangle with the heart at the centre."

Problems copy & paste text from PDF to InDesign CS5

Hey guys
Today, I tried copying and pasting text from a PDF I received from my client, into a InDesign CS5 doc, and the text came out was just random numbers and punctuations.
I've tried exporting Word / RTF & TXT file from the PDF and yet they still come out random. I'm not sure if it's just how the PDF was made, or there is something wrong with my CS5.
I'm on Snow Leopard, CS5 Premium, Acrobat Pro 9 & also Acrobat Reader X.
Any ideas why?

It's the PDF.
Usually, you can copy text out of a PDF, but there is no guarantee *at all*. Older software used to take shortcuts to subset fonts: first character it encountered got coded as #1, the next as #2, etc. etc. If you do a search & replace of each of the nonsense characters, you'll slowly see the original text appearing (thst's not as simple as it sounds, though).
A similar "problem" is that sometimes spaces don't get copied (there is no need for a "Space Character" in a PDF), and that you cannot copy contiguous lines of text as a single paragraph. All of it is because a PDF is not intended nor designed to be re-used after creation.
If you really need this text and don't want to type it in, try to get hold of the original file.

Bullets which include links will prevent correct copy/paste content from word document to wiki page.

I have a word document around 20 pages which contains the following sentence (a bullet with two links):-
Now if I remove this sentence then copy/paste the 20 pages from word to wiki page they will be pasted correctly inside the wiki page , where all the pages, bullets, etc will be mapped correctly inside the wiki page as HTML tables, bullets ,etc.
But the problem if I kept the above sentence then the whole 20 pages will be pasted as plain text inside the wiki page.
So can anyone advice on this ?and how I can overcome it ?

You can try this (1) Save as Word Doc as single file web page (2) Open that file in normal text editor(notepad or so) and copy all (3) Goto Wiki page edit source and paste all (4) Save it

Copy paste text from pdf exported from Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer control with Czech specific characters produced box charactex or ?.

Used Visual studio 2012. In our project there is used the Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer control. In the report handled by the control are TextBoxs with a text with Czech specific characters e.g. (ř, ě, ...) . When exporting the report to pdf,
characters are displayed correctly. However when the text with czech characters in the pdf if copied and placed into the seach box in the pdf document only box characters are displayed. The TextBox in the report use the default font Arial. When the report
is exported to Word, and then the Word document is saved as a pdf document, its ok. Coping a text with Czech charactes in the result pdf document and pasting into the search box displays again Czech characters not box characters.
Also when in the report handled by the ReportViewer control are several Tex Boxes and some of the boxes contains Czech characters and some not, after exporting to a pdf document there is problem with text selection. When in the pdf document I'm trying to
select several paragraphs, some with Czech characters and some without them, selection behaves strangely and jumps from one paragraph to another unexpectedly.

BTW: if any such char. is encountered in a line, the entire line of text is grabbled.
I've tried even the ReportViewer from MSSQL 2014, but got the same problem. When I've tried IL Spy, I found a code, where it is checked if the PDFFont is composite - depending on that a glyph is created. But that still only a guess.
I've tried Telerik's reporting, they have similar problem (beside other), but not with the special characters. They produced scuares for some sequences like: ft, fi, tí.
Please give any info you got.
Until then my advices for you:
a) try JasperReports (seems theyre most advanced, although it is java)
b) Developer express has quiet quality reports - and it seems they got those special chars. right :D
c) I created a ticket and waiting for Telerik's response (but if I had to choose reporting, I vould stick with a) or b)

Copy & Pasted text from PDF messes up upper-case words..

Have this problem on many PC's in my work, on Windows Vista and Windows 7, using Adobe Reader v9.1.0.
When highlighting text and copying, then going elsewhere and pasting, the 'case' of the text messes up.
For example, if I copied:
"The QUICK brown FOX jumps over the Lazy DOG"
The pasted text would appear:
"The QUicK brown FoX jumps over the lazy DoG"
Is this a known issue? It's doing it on different PC's with different OS's but the version of Adobe Reader is still the same, so it's either an issue with that, or with the PDF's we're reading. They are PDF's of newspapers, but still... text is text, so it shouldn't be an issue!
It's taking quite a lot of time having to scroll through all this text to make sure all the capitalization is correct (especially when it comes to grammar).
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem, or if there's any known solution!

Copy table content from pdf to worddoc

In many ocassions i needed to copy a table in a pdf into a word doc.
Currently i'm making use of Adobe reader 9.

When I try copying some content from a webpage and paste it to quickoffice document or in e Mail. all the text copies but, no graphics/pictures. how to get them pasted?

I tried copying some content from various websites (open content from plian HTML pages) and tried to paste it in Quickoffice document as well as in mai application. all the text got pasted properly however the content had some graphics and pictures in it that did not get pasted. So, I want to know if there is any way I can do the copy and paste from website including embedded graphics

You will need to copy and paste the images separately from the text. Or you can try pasting into TextEdit. However, it should work if the editor can handle RTFD files as does TextEdit. You cannot copy images to a plain text document or editor.

Is there a way to paste content from one ID doc to another without importing the styles?

Hi all,
I often work with transferring content over from one catalog to another...each catalog has a completely different set of styles. Since I am an organization freak and like to keep things as organized as possible, it drives me crazy when all of the styles from the other ID doc are transferred over into my my new document. What I used to do was delete all of the styles from the catalog I was copying over from and save a copy like that simply for the use of copying information over (so that no styles were brought over), but I am currently working with copying over content from multiple catalogs that were built in InDesign and it will take me forever deleting all of the styles in those documents.
Normally it is a GOOD thing when styles are copied over, but not in this case. It is not important that format is carried over either...I just want the content. Normally I will grab a bunch of content (tables, text boxes and images) at a time to copy over. I amjust not able to use "Paste without formatting" either:( It is greyed out. I very often use the "Paste without formatting" when pasting in text by itself into a text block and that works great! But is there any way I can do something similar with a bunch of contents that are being pasted? Or even if I just want to paste a text block or two?

Thank you both so much for your input...those are both really great ideas! I had actually not known about the ability to "break the link" to the styles... I must have missed seeing that all this time I have been using InDesign...that is really useful!! And I also like the ideas of renaming the styles...I will have to see what works best tomorrow as I continue on. There are just soooooo many different styles involved that renaming them may not be feasible in this particular instance so I may need to just "break the links"....but then I just remembered that there are lots of table styles, cell styles and character/paragraph styles linked with the tables alone that I have to copy over....grrrrr. (making my hair stand on end thinking of it...lol)
Isn't there a way to break the links to EVERY style linked to one selected item (break the link to all table/cell/character/paragraph/object styles in one fell swoop) ?

CKEditor copy-paste problem from Lotus Notes

I use CKEditor in my web applications. When I want to copy a content from Lotus Notes which contains images CKEditor only accepts the image in my copy content and it is in inverted version. But when I repeat same operation in Google Chrome it accepts the text from content and this is acceptable for me. I am sending screen-shots of my issue. The content is the mail that you sent me about confirmation of my Firefox Help question. The copy content is the same for both screen-shots.
How can I handle this in Firefox?

Trying to send copy/pasted content into a mass text message

I have composed a message (some copied and pasted from an online bible) (and also commentary that I add to it) and saved it as a draft in my yahoo email on my computer. I save it as a draft. I open the draft on my iPhone 4. Then copy/paste content into a text message to send to my congregation. Many of the recipients of the text get duplicate messages with no/or partial content. I have contacted my carrier and I am fully set up to send receive both sms and mms.
What could be the cause of this?
How can I fix it so that the receivers of my daily message get it properly?

When i create a message on my iPhone4 and save it into notes. it goes to my draft ( Mail ) on my computer. That tells me that there is no difference in where i create the message at. But between the copying and pasting i'm losing or something is being changed. Some of my friends are getting multiple messages and some are getting blank pages. We all have different carriers. ( T Mobile, Sprint,Verzion ) I'm waiting on another phone so i can use both of them to see if i can get my messages out

One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

How to copy-paste frames from one document to other with there respective layers intact?

The second document too have 3 layers , I am copying frames from first document to scrapdata using 'ICopyCmdData ' and 'kCopyCmdBoss'. I have 'Paste Remembers Layers' menu 'Checked' on Layer panel.      Here in above function its required to set Parent Layer UIDRef and because of this all frames are getting paste in one layer.
Is there any way we can paste frame in there respective layers?
     Also I need to work this code with CS4 server and desktop indesign.

Can't copy-paste images from Noteshelf in iOS6

Hi,
I use an app called Noteshelf (v7.0). In iOS5, I was able to copy-paste pictures from Noteshelf into other apps, such as Keynote (v1.7.1) or in an email. However, since I upgraded to iOS6, this doesn't work anymore. As the versions of Noteshelf and Keynote are the same, the logical conclusion is that something has changed in the copy-paste functionality of iOS6. Can somebody tell me about this and, better still, give me a fix for it?
