Copy & Paste Data to htmlb:textEdit

Hi,
when I Copy & Paste Data from MS Office to <htmlb:textEdit> the following occurs:
1) In the <htmlb:textEdit> note, the content is displayed without formatting. (OK)
2) Saved content is displayed without formatting in the backend. (OK)
3) Printing the content via SmartForms/Adobe pdf, #-signs are appearing. For example, spaces created with the tab key are displayed as ###. (PROBLEM!)
Are there anybody who knows how I can solve this problem. Basically, I just want to print what I see in my web application.
I suspect that the <htmlb:textEdit> control is not completely removing all formatting from MS Office.
What do you think?

Hi Elvez,
I experienced, that the textedit uses '##' to identify a carriage return. We simply remove the placeholder, if we have to use the value of a textedit in other contexts.
I don't think that it is related to the copy from MS Office, since the textedit takes erverything as plain text.

As per the information and details provided by you, when you copy & paste a data from server to Outlook, word, notepad, then you do not receive the Chinese text.
For Outlook, please follow these steps: -
Close and reopen Outlook in your western locale (or switch the windows system to your Western locale if you changed that),
Manually change the message from Western to Chinese encoding, which you can do in all versions up to Outlook 2007.
If you want to stay in your Chinese locale in Outlook 2007, then:
After you hit reply, go to the Option tab > More Options.
In the Encoding drop-down menu, select the Chinese encoding you are working in (Not the encoding used by the person who will receive the message)
Note:
To set the Chinese locale in all versions up to 2007 the controls are under.
Tools > Options. In Outlook 2010 File tab > Options > Advanced > International options.
Unicode (UTF-8)
is a good setting for multilingual users.
Check the
Auto select 2007)/ Automatically select (2010) encoding box.

Copy & Paste data into Planning form in Workspace 11.1.2.2

Hi there!
I'm dealing with a weird problem with Planning 11.1.2.2 over workspace. I cannot paste copied data into data forms (whether I copy from an Excel sheet, a file, or another cell of the same form).
However, when I access Planning directly through :8300/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp (old-styled Planning), pasting data works fine.
I tried using Ctrl + V and menu buttons, and didn't work.

Not sure which web browser you were working on, but this is from the 11.1.2.2 Known issues for Planning
12360405 -- With Firefox, you cannot copy and paste data from Microsoft Excel into a Planning form.

We need to copy the date dimension from one project to another. Normally copy/paste can be used, but... not on the date dimension! I tried export/import with mdl but that imports it back to the same project?!

Cannot paste data into datasheet view

I have a user who is reporting a problem when trying to copy/paste data from Excel 2007 into a MOSS 2007 Datasheet view. This functionality was working for her previously as recently as last month. According to the user, she has not had any changes
done to her machine recently (same machine, still using IE7, no recent installs). I tested the copying/pasting feature from my machine and I also cannot paste into the datasheet view. My colleagues do not have an issue though. Has anyone
run into this problem before?
My gut reaction is that this is a broswer issue, rather than a SP issue but I am not seeing any browser settings which appear to apply. Any suggestions?

I experienced this issue on a list field that was defined as multiple lines of text where I had 'Enhanced rich text' as the default. Users got a 'read-only' error when attempting to paste data frokm Excel into a record.
Once I changed the setting in 'Specify the type of text to allow' to
'Plain text', the issue resolved itself. I hope this infromation helps someone else out there!

OS X can natively read NTFS of Windows, but not write to it.
Windows can't read or write to HFS+ of OSX, and that's a good thing from a security standpoint.
Ideally if you share files between operating systems you should have a FAT/MSDOS formated USB key or hard drive. (exFAT external drive if any of your files are over 4GB in size) both these formats are universal for OS X or Windows.
If you install software into Windows and OS X to read each others formats, then you have to pay to update/upgrade it deal with headaches.
If you swtich between Windows and OS X a lot, don't need full hardware performance for Windows, you may consider installing virtual machine software like VMFusion or Parallels which can take a copy of your Windows in Bootcamp and place it into OS X as a file then run that copy of Windows in a window in OS X like so.
Advantage here is you run most of your light weight Windows programs like this at the same time as OS X.
Benefit is you can run just about any Windows or Linux version and OSX server editions (not client versions)
Bootcamp only allows Windows 7, that's it now.
You'll also be interested in two fre pieces of software, Carbon Copy Cloner and Winclone on macupdate.com.
CCC clones OS X partition and Winclone clones the Bootcamp partition. Valuable for you.

Copy&paste between textedit and javachat

I'm running a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz intel OSX 10.5.6. I moderate a java chat room and keep broadcasts and IP#'s in text edit and so copy and paste between the two. But lately I'm running into a loss of this ability. I can copy and paste within textedit or within the java chat, but not between them. When it first began happening a reboot was enough to bring that function back, but now I'm having to run onyx to repair permissions etc. to get it right again. How do i fix this? When the room's busy, i really need that function. I don't know if this is related, but got this message after the last permission repair...

Can I copy meta data from a jpg and past to a tiff. I have CS6 photoshop

How can I copy metadata from a JPg files and paste onto tiffs. I send JPGs to stock agent and when they select I then send Tiffs and want to avoid re typing meta data if possible. Also some pictures have similar meta data information and can I copy that and paste into another picture?
Please give me keystroke information if this is possible as I get confused easily. Use photoshop for dummies language if you can.

You can copy&paste individual fields, but not the entire data. It's a moot point, anyway. PS will retain metadata e.g. when a file is saved using Save As... to a format that supports metadata and JPG and TIFF both do. also one would simply use Bridge to edit metadata in mass with multiple images selected...#

Dates change from Numbers generated xls file when copy/pasted

I've saved a Numbers '09 file as xls and sent it to an Excel 2003 for Windows user. The file looks great when they open it in Excel 2003. But, when they copy and paste data into a different Excel 2003 file, the date changes about 4 years, which seems to make this a 1900/1904 issue. But why? If Excel 2003 opened up the original xls file generated by Numbers ok, why can't the dates be copy and pasted into another Excel 2003 spreadsheet?

Apple uses a year pattern that starts with the first day of the first leap year in the 20th century.
Microsoft originally adopted a year pattern that began with the first day of the last year of the 19th century (1900) which, although it was a year divisible by 4, was not a leap year.
Later, MS added the 1904 start pattern, but kept the1900 start pattern as well.
What is likely happening in the case you describe is this:
When Numbers traslates the document into Excel format and saves it, Numbers apparenly includes the flag that tells Excl 'use the 1904 start for dates.' Excel open the file, reads the code, and sets the calendar accordingly.
When the Excel 2003 user then copies the data frm that document, the copy picks up only the date serial number(s), and does not get the coded flag identifying which date system is in use.
That data is then pasted into the new Excel document, and with no flag to tell it different, Excel uses its 'normal' setting—the calendar starts on January 1, 1900—and all dates are interpreted as being four years earlier than they were in the original Numbers table or in the first Excel sheet.
I'd assume there is a setting that can be changed in Excel. Where to find it/how to use it would be a good question for an Excel community discussion site. (Although it's possible an answer might arrive here as well.)

Copy - Paste Velocity data only?

Hello everyone,
I have an ostinato pattern that repeats about 50-60 times, and I'd like to be played "loud-soft-soft." Is there a way to copy-paste velocity information so I don't have to manually change each notes velocity?
I've tried copy-pasting hyper edit velocity information but it copy-pastes not only the velocity, but the notes as well!
I could use the pencil tool to draw the hyper information, but that is almost as tedious as changing the notes by hand.
Any suggestions?

I got a GREAT suggestion from logicprohelp.com to use "groove templates" and apply 0% quantize and 100% velocity. In theory this should work, but no matter what I try (quantize strength 0%, Quantize swing 0%) it STILL wants to quantize my part, and does so in a way that it makes it sound like mistakes and jitters rather than the consistent triplet pattern I wrote.
I'm going to continue to try this method, as it seems like it should work! I'm hoping its just user error!
As for simply re-playing in the part...well, lets just say my piano chops are REALLY bad, and when I slow down the part to a tempo I can play it, it somehow looses the bouncy feel I wanted then I speed it back up. I was hoping there would be an easy way to get the "feel" I wanted with the velocities and easily paste them. Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and keep re-recording the part until its right! That would probably be faster in the long run, seeing as how there is no Copy-Paste velocity, and groove templates seem to be buggy.

Excel Spreadsheet as Data Source & Copying that Data to an Existing SharePoint List

I have an Excel spreadsheet that I get daily and cut and paste into an existing SharePoint list. Is there a way to make that Excel spreadsheet a data source and copy the data to an existing SharePoint list with less manual involvement?
Tools at my disposal include: SharePoint 2010 Designer, InfoPath, and Access.
I thought there might be a REST method I could use via InfoPath but I'm not aware of any offhand.
Goal is to have a method to upload/overwrite an Excel file (stored in a SharePoint library), every day, and then automate the process of copy it to a SharePoint list (actually overwriting the old data in the SharePoint list).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We can create a console application and use C# code to read the data from the Excel file and using SharePoint .Net Client Object Model to add the data into a SharePoint list, then create a windows job to execute the console application.

Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
The iPad is first generation
OS 5.1.1 Software up to date.
