Copy-paste HTML from firefox to Apple Mail

When I try to copy-paste from Firefox 3 to Apple Mail, it only pastes simple text into my email message. It does not paste images or HTML-formatted text. Does anyone know a work around?
This works for Safari to Apple Mail. I use "View in Safari" firefox add-on to make it easier to bounce to Safari when I need it. However, I would LOVE to get this working in Firefox. Any suggestions?

I have a very big list of correspondents to whom I often send articles.
I cannot copy them from Firefox and paste them onto Apple Mail because they look WEIRD and not at all like the original. Most formatting disappears.
I do not encounter the same problem with Safari, and THAT is one of the two reasons I am forced to use it even if it gives me lots of problems.
The other one is that Safari 5 has a built-in RSS reader, which is essential for my work.
If you could manage to have those two things working, I'd pick Firefox in a second and advertise the fact to thousands who would do the same.

Try one of these feed readers if the build-in Firefox reader doesn't suit you.

One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

Why are round brackets escaped when copy/pasting URLs from Firefox, in contravention of RFC3987?

Go to any site, and add a 'hash fragment' to the end of the URL that contains round brackets. Copy that URL out of Firefox and paste into a text editor, like so:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/#%28testing%29
Note that the round brackets have been escaped into %28 and %29 characters.
RFC3987 specifies that "(" and ")" are 'gen-delimiters' are are _not_ equivalent to their escape codes. Replacing these characters with their escape codes is as incorrect (according to the spec) as replacing the "$" or "!" characters (which are not escaped in FF or other browsers) and the "'" (apostrophe) character, which universally is. No, I don't understand it either.
Worse, this behavior does not match what the other major browsers do, so Firefox has essentially broken the promise that URLs are universal. If there are any reasons for doing this, they have not been made clear or documented, that I can find.
The hash fragment is increasingly being used to store 'client side' information, and so messing with these characters is breaking applications. I'm trying to understand if there's a good reason why, or just poor programming. In which case, I'll log a bug report.

Webbrowsers do not use RFC3987 at all. See section 1.2.a about Applicability. Maybe you should have a look at RFC3986 instead.

Why can't print to Xerox Splash or HP from Safari or Apple Mail?

I copy pasted this from the Printing and Faxing forum since it seems no one can answer my questions there. Maybe someone here has an answer.

I just updated my computer from a G4 running 10.3.9 to a G5 running 10.4.5. I used the migrate wizard so I didn't need to install anything new. All my applications even seem to work well. The only thing I can't do is print from Safari or Mail to an HP LaserJet 1320 or a Xerox Docucolor G630. I reinstalled the drivers for both printers and I still can't print. I can print from Quark and Acrobat Reader just fine. A few months ago, I set up a G5 workstation but with that one I needed to install everything from scratch and I'm able to print from Safari and Mail fine from that computer. What do I need to do?
One more thing, I tried printing a page from my System Profile and I can't. I click on the print button and nothing happens. I'm at a loss here. Where do I begin?
I hate to be persistant but I really need some help. Let me tell you what I've done so far.
I've gone to the HP site and downloaded the latest driver for the 1320n series printer and I reinstalled and set up the printer in the print center like I've always done with any of the printers I've set up before. I still can't print from Mail, Safari, and from the system. I see on the HP site that there is a fix in the Tiger system already (I think I'm reading that right) and I shouldn't be worrying about this.
I found in one of the other forum listings about a Foomatic/hpijs and I installed that one. Nothing printed. I tried using a Generic PPD. Nothing happened.
I reinstalled the Xerox Splash printer drivers from the disk and that didn't make a difference.
In the print window, I can't make a PDF, won't let me Preview, and won't let me Print. I click on the buttons and they won't even react. It doesn't do anything. But even with the new drivers I've set up since I started all this, I can still print from Quark and Acrobat Reader. So it seems it's got something to do with the system.
I'm really frustrated here. Can someone please give me a clue if they have one? Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks a million for your input. I really appreciate it. I found the fix though in the troubleshooting section in the book I purchased from Dr. Smoke from the Forums. It's his X Lab for Tiger book. Dr. Smoke is THE BOMB! :~D I have to thank him again for his guru abilities!
There was a plugin that was afoul. The Xerox Accounting plugin was causing my print option not to respond along with the other buttons in the print window. I removed it from the plugin folder and now I can print. I'm glad that's all it was.

I need to type in or copy/paste words from other languages (cyrillic for example) but when I do it the only thing I get is a "????????" instead of the word I want to type or insert. What should I do?

That happens when I don't know how to write so I copy/paste words from other languages, it also happens when I copy words in other languages written in a Word document, and then paste it on a website using Mozilla. This doesn't happen when I use Internet Explorer.

Well you second post was the correct question because I was going to say you got a second hand macbook pro, didn't change anything, and expected mail to work with your ISP. The mail settings were thus those of the previous owner. So you are correct to ask what your ISP's settings should be.
Unfortunately I can't answer that. You have to get that from your ISP. They proably have a web page for it.
You need to know:
Incoming mail server (pop)
Incoming mail server login name
Incoming mail server password
POP port
Does is require SSL?
Authentication for using POP server (probably password)
Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
Outgoing mail server login name (probably same as incoming)
Outgoing mail server password (probably same sas incoming)
SMTP port
Does is require SSL?

     Here in above function its required to set Parent Layer UIDRef and because of this all frames are getting paste in one layer.
Is there any way we can paste frame in there respective layers?

Can't copy-paste images from Noteshelf in iOS6

Hi,
I use an app called Noteshelf (v7.0). In iOS5, I was able to copy-paste pictures from Noteshelf into other apps, such as Keynote (v1.7.1) or in an email. However, since I upgraded to iOS6, this doesn't work anymore. As the versions of Noteshelf and Keynote are the same, the logical conclusion is that something has changed in the copy-paste functionality of iOS6. Can somebody tell me about this and, better still, give me a fix for it?

We have a w2008 R2 terminal server for a week now and clients make a vpn connection. They copy paste pictures from local to a Word 2010 document on the terminal server.
Everthing function well before. Same clients and a w2003 terminal server with Word 2010. Users copy local picture (openend in Paint, Microsoft Photo viewer, Irfanview, etc.) and than copy paste it to a Word document on the terminal server.
Now it does not work anymore accept when they opend it local in Paint. Only than they can copy the picture.
-I have checkt de properties on client
-I have restart rdpclip.exe on Termnal server.
-I have checked if it is a rights issue but it seems that it's not
I realy like to find a solution for this because doing it with MSPaint is al lot of work for the people.
Does any has a answer for this?

If the crashing only happens with other peoples projects it could be for a variety of reasons. There are tons of asset references saved in the library (the location every item was imported from) and much more. None of those locations will exist on your system and internal complications may simply happen, especially with any runtime shared assets.
If possible you should consider adding more system RAM so you can multi-task. RAM is extremely cheap. I'm assuming from a smaller 500GB HD and 4GB RAM that you're probably on a laptop however. Installing RAM is still usually pretty easy if you have the notebook manual (or grab it online). It typically involves just lifting the keyboard or opening a single panel on the bottom of the notebook but it varies greatly. At any rate, 8GB RAM would help you quite a bit. If you do, just make sure you get the correct type of RAM (again, in the specs in your manual).
Even when you run out of physical RAM, Flash (like any other application) will still see more RAM based on the OS's swap memory setting (using available space on your HD as RAM). It will get much slower but Flash should see the total amount the 32bit OS can handle for RAM (it doesn't know if it's physical fast RAM or SWAP (fake) HD RAM though). If you open other apps with Flash they should also operate, but will also use swap RAM and you've probably noticed your HD crunching a lot while more apps are open.
That said, I have a 4GB RAM in my older i7 lappie and have used Flash CS5.5 and CS6 on it extensively, with other applications open. Although my projects contain mild assets and mostly tons of code. No issues at all. I just think your heavy assets are crashing you.

As per the information and details provided by you, when you copy & paste a data from server to Outlook, word, notepad, then you do not receive the Chinese text.
For Outlook, please follow these steps: -
Close and reopen Outlook in your western locale (or switch the windows system to your Western locale if you changed that),
Manually change the message from Western to Chinese encoding, which you can do in all versions up to Outlook 2007.
If you want to stay in your Chinese locale in Outlook 2007, then:
After you hit reply, go to the Option tab > More Options.
In the Encoding drop-down menu, select the Chinese encoding you are working in (Not the encoding used by the person who will receive the message)
Note:
To set the Chinese locale in all versions up to 2007 the controls are under.
Tools > Options. In Outlook 2010 File tab > Options > Advanced > International options.
Unicode (UTF-8)
is a good setting for multilingual users.
Check the
Auto select 2007)/ Automatically select (2010) encoding box.

Switch from Entourage to Apple mail

I have imported my Entourage emails and Addressbook into Apple mail. Some new emails are coming into Entourage and some into Apple Mail and some into both. How do I control this so they stop coming into Entourage and come only into Apple?

If I have imported my addressbook and emails from Entourage into Apple mail, is that the same thing has backing up my Entourage data as you suggested? Or is there something else I'm not aware of that should be backed up. All I have ever used Entourage for is email and addressbook. Entourage has also been automatically backing up up on iDisk.

You're going to need to stop Entourage from getting
email from that account.
Open Entourage.
Go to the Entourage menu.
You can then select and delete the account.
Note: You should consider backing up your Entourage
data just in case you change your mind.
