Copy photo albums to memory stick

I have an external hard drive which backs up all of my iPhoto albums.
I would like to be able to copy and backup individual albums to a memory stick.

Just sorted it myself, realised I have to drag and drop from my music files and not iTunes.

You can drag and drop (this will result in a compressed JPG) or hold the alt key and drag and drop (this will copy the original). You can also select the pictures and choose Export from the File menu.

Copying from a USB memory stick

Now i can access my iPhoto App (thanks to T. Devlin), I'm trying to import photos saved on a memory stick. When i try to import them, after about 10 seconds a message comes up saying; "The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly, click to relaunch.....", another message pops up; Saying; "Do you want to reset application settings for iPhoto, the application quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched. Resetting application settings may fix problem". When i click reset and launch iPhoto's goes blank. Yet i have put saved camcorder movies on iPhoto from same memory stick with no problems.

1. Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at your iPhoto Library Folder - by default that's in your Pictures Folder. If iPhoto sees a valid library there it will open it.
Otherwise:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Why can't I copy a file to memory stick

Why can't I copy a MP4 file to my memory stick? I keep being told theres no room ... but there is room.
The memory stick has a capacity for 16 GB. But the Get Info command tells me 1.3 GB are being used. But Ive erased the memory stick and dont understand how there could be any files still on it ... unless "erase" doesnt erase them all and some "invisible files" are still there somehow.
Ive formated it using the MSDOS Fat 32 format.
When I try to copy a 5 GB MP4 file I get a message that says:
"the item cant be copied because it is too large for the memory stick's format."
Im at my wits end. There should be plenty of room opn the stick ... but apparently theres not. Is this something to do with partitioning?

MSDOS FAT32 has 4GB file size limit.
exFAT is the format you need.

I got my first mac yesterday and am having trouble getting photo albums from facebook into my iPhoto's. I have tried dragging them and copying them but its not working! Can anyone help?!

I put some photo albums on my iPhone from my old laptop. I didn't take the photos with the iPhone, but they are stored there. How do I copy them to my new MacBook? Can I perform a photo synch without erasing them?

This is really something they should make possible. Being able to view the iPhone as an attached USB device so we can drag things over like any other hard drive. My computer crashed and the last think I had thought of was to backup the images I made specifically to upload to my iPhone (portfolio images). Nnow I'm left having to redo it cause I want to update it and can't cause it will just replace the existing folder with the new data. Ugh.

Error -36 when trying to copy photos from new memory card to mac hd? HELP!! very important photos!

bought a new memory card, took 700+ photos, i can preview the videos (.mov) in finder and can see the thumbnail preview of the photos (.nef) but cannot open the photos larger in preview or copy any of the videos/photos to the hd. I can open the photos in photoshop directly from memory card but cant copy or move photos/videos from memory card to mac hd. (error -36 pops up..something about the file cant be read) please help!

I took the memory card back to best buy and the geek squad was able to help me fortunately by putting all of my pic files onto one of their PCs and then putting all my pics back onto a NEW memory card; then we plugged the new memory card into the computer and transferred the files seamlessly. Apparently there was some kind of issue with the way my memory card was formatted. I now put my new memory card into my camera, format it (very easily done with the in camera menu), and take a few test shots and transfer the pics to my computer before doing anything valuable with it. Thankfully all of my files were not damaged.
*BEWARE!! DO NOT FORMAT YOUR MEMORY CARD WHILE YOU HAVE PICS ON IT AS IT WILL CAUSE ALL PICS TO BE DELETED! IF YOU HAVE VALUABLE PICTURES TRANSFER THE ENTIRE DCIM FOLDER TO ANOTHER COMPUTER, THEN ERASE MEMORY CARD AND FORMAT IT, YOU THEN MAY BE ABLE TO PUT THE DCIM FOLDER BACK ON THE SAME MEMORY CARD AND USE IT SUCCESSFULLY. IF YOU STILL CANT USE THAT SAME MEMORY CARD YOU CAN TRY THE SAME PROCESS BUT AT THE END PUT THE FOLDER ONTO A NEW MEMORY CARD INSTEAD.

How can I save 350 photos to a memory stick randomly.

I need the photos to be stored in the usb memory stick in a random order. They will be veiwed (by an old tv), in the order they are saved.

When you export to the memory stick you're restricted to whatever the file system on the stick supports. There is no file system that supports "random". It will support sizing on size, name, type and so on. Random would be a feature of the TV playback feature.

You don't need special memory cards. If the card slot in your Macbook doesn't recognize the memory card you may have to get a card reader. You can get one for about $10 at many places.
If you create a CD from the Share ➙ Burn menu in iPhoto the CD that results will be only usable by Macs running iPhoto. To burn to a CD so a PC can use the file you need to export the photo to a folder on the Desktop and then burn that folder to the CD with the Finder.

@chamin, it's not that you're not apple-savvy...it's that these Apple administrators are not helping you. I realize it is a year since this thread has been active so it is probably too late for you, but since I had the same problem and NOBODY is posting a solution, I will post mine here to help the next person. Afterward, I will post my rant on this subject.
SOLUTION:
I installed Dropbox on the iPhone, and then went into dropbox, and selected Upload. It then threw me into the albums I wanted to upload. I had to check each individual photo, and then wait for Dropbox to sync via WiFi. After it did…I then went to the Mac, where I had installed Dropbox already, waited for it to sync, and moved the photos/videos from my Dropbox folder into a folder offline.
(now stop here, unless you want to read my rant)
VIOLA!!! I am now thinking WHY is there not a straightforward solution from Apple support, and WHY do people ignore the need to accomplish this task????
There SHOULD be a way to do this using iTunes or a Mac computer. I am very disappointed at all the apple support forums where administrators are continually parroting the "the proper method of syncing photos/videos" and outright ignoring the actual situation that needs to be dealt with. Typical IT support snobbishness…always questioning "how come you want to do it that way…you should be doing it this way, blah blah blah". Take my example, and start to help by answering the user's questions and quit trying to defend the illogical nature of something.
This is another reason I am a major promoter of PC, and heavily against any deployment of Macs. Although I love the iPhone because of its stability, iPhone users tend to use Macs…and I am in a working environment where there are so many people who want to use Mac instead of PC. I use a Mac every day to evaluate it from a support perspective, and I have detailed lengthy notes on the problems with using a Mac in the PC environment but nobody cares…because users don't care about knowing how a computer works. Once again, I had to figure out a workaround that Apple doesn't support. I actually should come forward and admit that Microsoft support administrators have pretty much the same arrogance and smudgeness.

How Do you Copy Photo Albums to all devices over icloud

So I have the following setup
iPad 2, new iPad, iPhone 4s; and 2 windows computers.
I have photostream enabled. Photos sync across as they should however, If i place a photo in an album; I am wanting the album to be copied to the rest of the devices as well so I can sort the photos.
Has anyone figured this one out?

Whilst you can add any photo you want to Photostream on a computer, I doubt this is going to help you. photostream only keeps photos for 30 days.

I was never in the habit of applying anything to photo comments, but gave my albums a desriptive name so I knew what they were. Now I wish I had because album titles are not searchable. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to create an Automator workflow or Applescript that could take the Album Name and apply it to the comments field for each picture in the album. I have over 25,000 pictures and quite a few albums. I've started to do it manually for each album but would love to find a quicker way to accomplish this.

FYI, it will step through every album; get its name; and then step through every photo in the album and change the comments to the album's name.
I recommend that you make a back-up before proceeding!

Using an Apple remote controller to advance photos on a memory stick ?

I wonder if this can be done. I haven't bought the remote yet. I'm giving a speech at my daughter's wedding in Australia and want to show a few photos which I've saved to a stick. The plan is to take the stick out there (from the UK) and use a Macbook at the venue. Will the remote advance the photos and moreover, in the sequence they're saved on the stick ?

I don't know of any other apps, but front row will only work with iPhoto.
It would be an easy matter to import them into iPhoto, create a folder and use FrontRow to step through the folder.
