very easy : Don't use it
You have to create your own functionality in this case.
e.g. for QUERY use a PRE-QUERY, where you fill the item in the same way like the "copy value from item"
when INSERTING use the PRE-INSERT, and so on...
why did you have to disable the "copy value ..." ?

Copy Value from Item in Property Palette

I have created a button on my form so that the user can clear the form and requery another record. In this 'when_button_pressed' trigger, I have a go_block(block_1), then a clear_block(no_validate) and so on for each of the three blocks. I am finding that items that have the Copy value from item property set to copy information from the control block, those items don't clear, therefore, causing the requery to work improperly. I have tried to copy data down to the other blocks in other triggers and using the clear_form but for some reason the clear_form(no_commit) takes me out of the form completely.
I have run this problem through metalink and they were able to get the problem to recreate and said it must have something to do with the Copy Value from Item property but cannot explain. Has anyone ran into this problem and have found they found an answer when using the copy value property?
Any help would be appreciated.

Ali,
If I understand your question properly, you want to denormalize an attribute from a master table into a detail table, correct? If so, I'd do that in the model layer, not in the UI.
If you share what you are using at the model layer in terms of technology, perhaps someone can be able to show you how.

Passing value from Report Column to Javascript

Dear Apex wizards,
I am a bit stuck right now with implementing a modal pop-up/iframe/javascript and this forum is my last hope to fix this issue.
Anyway, will try to explain what I am trying to accomplish.
What I need is: I want to have an SQL report, as a very first column I want to have an "ID" numbers from my table and I want this column to have a "Column Link" set in "Column Attributes" proper ties. The trick is, that when I click on the column link (when I run my report on Apex page) I need a JQuery modal window to pop-up where in IFrame will be another page and this page will use an "ID" from my column link URL to display data. So, basically I want to pass an "ID" value from my parent page to my child page which is displayed in iFrame of modal window.
And here is what I have:
1. I do have an SQL report:

So, that is good.
4. And here I am getting confused, basically I have to pass a value of javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(#SUBNET_ID#);, which seems to work as it gives me correct numbers from my table, to my "ViewNetworkDetails" JavaScript function, so it can paste this value into "f?p=........." iFrame URL. Below is my Jquery Modal form script and Javascript to redirect me to my popup page (the script is in HTML Header):

My assumption is, that there is a problem with this part of my scriptvar subnetIDNumber = document.getElementById(#SUBNET_ID#); where I cannot get my "SUBNET_ID" value from javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(#SUBNET_ID#); into "subnetIDNumber" variable and that is why I cannot pass it to my iFrame URL.
P.S. P.S. the child page 103 has a "Automated Row Fetch", so it is not a problem. In addition, I did a simple test, where I had a page item "P102_Value" with some value and in my script I had instead var subnetIDNumber = document.getElementById(#SUBNET_ID#); this var subnetIDNumber = $v('P102_Value'); and it worked perfectly fine....but cannot make it working against SQL Select statement :-(

Change your column link to send the subnet_id column's value to the function call (you mentioned it, but I m not sure if you actually did)

So, modify the function to accept the subnet ID parameter(I am actually surprised how you missed this) and assign that parameter to variable.

Populate the URL for popupURL from a Table/Page Item?

Dear all,
Would someone please tell me if the URL to run a BIP report can be populated from a table/page item when using popupURL and if so, how?
Background:
I have a Table called TBL_LETTERS with a varchar2 column REPORT_URL
I have a Page (Pg 303) which populates a Text Page Item (P303_REPORT_URL) with an appropriate URL string from the table.
Here is my problem:
I would like to replace my working javascript function (see below):

With my limited javascript knowledge I can only guess that the variables successfully assigned values in my first function example are not successful in my second, I am probably just passing the whole thing as a simple string (like this: +&BI_URL.Guest/DEV/TEST/FRM_40/MM_40/MM_40.xdo?_xpf=&_xpt=1&P_CASE_ID=&P303_CASE_ID.&P_PERSON_ID=&P303_PERSON_ID.&_xt=MM_40_xf=rtf+), but would very much welcome any advice.
Do I need to
a. Create the REPORT_URL string differently in the table so that when passed to the Page Item it includes the required variable data?
b. Something completely different?
c. Forget it, it's not possible!
ps. I am using Apex 3.2.1

when I look at the parameter in de popupURL function I notice that you use substitution variables &P303_CASE_ID. and &P303_PERSON_ID.
The value for these variables are filled in by Apex on page rendering.
If you use this same URL in your column REPORT_URL Apex will not fill in the values for these substitution variables.
Yes, this is exactly what is happening.
I would suggest you use option A to build your URL with the desired values.
If the values for &P303_CASE_ID. and &P303_PERSON_ID. are in the same table TBL_LETTERS you could use them to make a pseudo column for the URL string.
&P303_CASE_ID. and &P303_PERSON_ID. are not in the same table. How would it be possible to build the string (to store in the table) so that when it is run javascript identifies the variables?
I have tried building the string in various ways using syntax similar to below but nothing is working:

I built a report and I create button on report too. This
button will show a form that I want it to automatically show

So I create a button on the report . I enter Javascript in

Yes, you have it correct in what I am trying to do and if I put a default value in the hidden item on page 2 and run it then that works fine. I just can't get the value from the form passed to page 2 for some reason. There are actually 22 items on the form that can be filtered but just using COREID for simplicity. When I run the form I am just entering a value in the COREID field to try and return those records. Most of the other items on the form are displayed as Popup LOV(fetches first row). Would the values of all these be done the same in a comma delimited list for the items and values? I was trying to get at least one of them working first. Here is the search result that comes up in the debug window:

Copy values from a filed to another in different blocks in same table

Hi All,
How to copy value from a filed to another field in different blocks in same form ?
example if i change value in Field A of block 1 it should reflect in Field B block 2 and again if i change in Field B block 2 it should reflect in Field A of block 1.
values will change twice or thrice then it will not change. It is happening like that.
how to do this ?

I guess, both blocks will be marked for update, and when your user presses commit, the same table will be updated twice!
Are you sure that this is what you want to do? Is the same record current in both blocks? If so, you better use 1 block (it can be spread over several canvases and windows) and synchronize the items with the "synchronize item" property.
Anyway: If you can't apply the synchronize-property bcos the items are in different blocks, you can synchronize with 2 when-validate-item triggers.

I have a problem while copying values from one cursor to another cursor.
The code looks like below.

How do i achieve it?

Discoverer Viewer Report with Page Items Slow Performance

I created a report in Discoverer User that has page items and parameters and runs fine (under 3 minutes) in Discoverer User, but when I try and run it in Discoverer Viewer it takes a long time. It took over 70 minutes before manually terminating it. I made a copy of the report and removed the page items and tried to run it again in Discoverer Viewer and now the report runs in under 3 minutes. Any idea why a report with page items would run in Discoverer user fine, but not discoverer viewer?
I am using Oracle Business Intelligence Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)

As long as you can access the middle-tier server where Discoverer Viewer is running, you should be able to run and view Discoverer worksheets.
While it is difficult to even start guessing what the problem might be, if the machine you installed Discoverer on has DHCP addressing, you will run into problems.

Retruning parameter/value from report to form - (Urgent)

I am calling a report (2.5) from a form using RUN_PRODUCT. I would like to know if there is any way to do the following.
(a) Return a value from reports to calling form. For ex. I would like to know the last Item name (assuming the reports prints all items in inventory) printed. I am sending a from and to numbers of item id's (range) and I need to know the last item printed.
(b). Check the success of report. For example, while printing the 5 items (the range that I passed) if there is any error in printing , this should be tracked either in the form or report. If this is not possible using run_product , If I need to use srw package, how to use it. Can I call the report as usual with run_product and in the after parameter trigger can, I call the report again and track error.
Any help will be appreciated.

Ok... I see your problem... when pasting into Pages, the formulas from Numbers are included. Perhaps this is really more of a Pages question (in which case I'm far from expert). A couple of ideas:
• In Pages, try "Edit"/"Paste and Match Style", which may insert tab delimited cell values (no formulas). Then, if you want the table format back, select these newly pasted tabbed values and use Page's "Format"/"Table"/"Convert Text to Table"/
• In Numbers, before copying, make a temporary table of the plain values first, then copy and paste that into Pages. To do this, select the range of cells you desire in the Numbers and "Edit"/"Copy". Then "Edit"/"Deselect All" and "Edit"/"Paste Values" and "Edit"/"Cut". Now just a table of values is on the clipboard and you can head over to Pages to paste.

Master-detatil - copy value from

Hello.
I have a problem with master-detail relationship. I have one block with hidden item (item is id - id is generated with the sequence). In the second block i have one item (not hidden) which is connected (relationship) to the id from the first block. After i commit the record in the first block i want to see (immediately after commit)the value of the id from the first block in the item from the second block. I have relationship and copy value from but it doesn't work. I checked my other forms where that works and i don't see any differences. Thanks

Simplest way is to rewrite html page into jsf page.
You can use session bean in your managed bean like this:

Hi,
you need 3 elements to make the javascript code read the value in any field in the table: table´s name, line and column. This is how your code could look like:

ROW works as a counter. You have in variable valor the value of the field and can do with it what you want, perhaps display it with ALERT. I am reading the values from field 1 to n in column 4 in table TABLA1. Pay attention to the '_' in the concatenation of field´s name. The table in my BSP is very simple:

What kind of web page do you have? Do you have possibility to for example make RFCs? Then you could trigger events (with parameters that could "return" the values) and the workflow could react to those events. For example your task can have terminating events.
