Copy Video Clips to Folder

A bit complicated to explain my question:
When using Snow Leopard, have a folder A with - lets say 100 video clips. In an other folder B I have 120 Video clips. 100 of them are the same as in folder A and 20 new. I only need to copy the 20 new ones from folder B to A.
That was very easy; I select all clips in folder B and drag them over to folder A. Then a window popped up and ask me if I want to replace the doubles or not.
Also I have the option to apply my choice to all clips.
So it copies only those in folder A, where it does not find the doubles.
Now I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Did the same thing.... what happen, now there are 2 clips with the same filename.
Very Very confusing!
What I do often: I go through the clips, and those which need some improvement, I save to a new folder and then copy those improved ones to the original folder, now I have 2 clips with the same filename. I need to run it full screen and compare them side by side not to delete the improved one.
Also I am missing the scroll up and scroll down arrows at the side of the folder.
They may be somewhere, but I have not found them yet.
Thank you

Sorry for the confusion...... I found the error......
some have extention .mov and some don't.
But I wonder, how the clips can play without the extention .mov.
I remember before, when you remove an extention, it warned you, that the clip might become unusable.

  • Copying video clips into iPod

I have a video ipod. I have some short video clips that were converted to the iPod format (H.264) at its desired screen size (320 x 240) using a shareware program called MPEG Streamclip.
The clips import into iTunes just fine. They play i iTunes, etc.
However trying to drag them into the iPod gets a flag saying they can't be transfered because "it can not be played on this iPod".
I dont think I'm doing anything wrong. Using 'get info' on the clip shos it to be h.264 & 320 x 240.
    using OS X 10.4.10 & iTunes 7
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Can't copy video clips to my iPod nano 7th via iTunes

I tried many file formats such as .mp4, avi, MPEG... and it always warned "It cannot be played on this iPod". Help me plz!

Well that would explain why you cannot add them to your Nano.
Try using a program such as Handbrake or MPEG-Streamclip to convert these clips to more friendly formats. I have had the best results with these two utilties.

  • Is there a way to copy referenced video clips into the iMovie library?

When I import video clips into an iMovie event it seems that iMovie uses only a reference to the file. When files are moved things get horrible broken soon. I noticed that iMovie does actually copy video clips into your library when you convert your library from iMovie'11 to iMovie'13. Is there a way to copy video clips into the iMovie library when importing them so that they don't get lost?

  • Cannot export video clips.  Get message: "unable to create video for export"

Cannot export video clips from iPhoto to Finder folder.  Export fails with message "unable to create video for export: "
The video clips play correctly within iPhoto.
Software: iPhoto version 9.5 on OSX 10.9
    Hardware: Retina Macbook Pro 2.3 i7 8GB

Yes.  I have 3,184 video clips in this library.  I tested Reveal function by randomly selecting individual video clips and in every case the Reveal in Finder function worked correctly.  I also tested this on random selections of groups of video clips and, again, the Reveal function worked correctly in every case.
Some more info that may be relevant:
I have multiple iPhoto libraries.  My "main" library is very large (~30,000 files) and is located on an external hard drive (2TB WD) which is connected via USB.
The problem reported here is occuring on that "main" library.  I have not opened any other iPhoto library since installing the new release.
While the File>Export function does not work, I have been able to simply copy and paste video clips from iPhoto library to a folder on Mac hard drive.  It appears that meta data is copying correctly along with the video content.
I am able to import these copied video clips to iMovie.  Meta data is imported along with the video content and I'm able to perform iMovie editing functions on those clips without any problems.
In summary, the File>Export function still fails with the message "unable to create video for export."  Copying video clips and pasting them to interim folder seems to be a viable workaround enabling me to extract video clips from iPhoto for import to iMovie.  I will run additional tests to see if I can find a pattern to the video files that are being rejected by iPhoto Export function.

    Hi wayneiii,
If you are having issues adding video files to iTunes on your Windows machine, you may want to verify that they are in a format that iTunes can play. You may find the following article helpful:

  • SAVING VIDEO CLIPS

Can I copy video clips from a DVD to use in the Imove Library and use them to compile a Project or do I have to use my Sony camera to download clips from tape exclusively?

    Yes.
Bill74maybe wrote: ... to use in the Imove Library and use them to compile a Project...
Not if you mean from a DVD video.  While you can copy the files on a DVD video to other Mac disks, they are not in a format directly useable by iMovie.   Moreover, if they are commercial DVD video disk files, they are likely copyrighted so as to prevent their use in your iMovie Projects anyway.
Bill74maybe wrote: ... or do I have to use my Sony camera to download clips from tape exclusively? ...Bill
No, not exclusively.  Use your Mac's iMovie > Help menu command to search for "import" (without the quotation marks.  You can also look in Apple Support for articles like iMovie '11: Import video from movie files or other articles from a search like this one.   You may also be helped by some of the tutorials and other info in iMovie Support.

  • How do I move a video clip from one event folder to another?

Today I imported a bunch of old VHS based analog videos. I imported them all into one event library folder.
Now I want to move some of the clips into a new event folder so I can keep all the folders properly organized with what is in them.
When I highlight the selected video clip (I put the yellow border around the video I want to move) and I drop and drag the clip into the new folder imovie 11 asks if I want to move the selected clip. I answer yes, it seems to move the clip BUT it moves the WHOLE CLIP NOT just the part I selected.
I can't seem to make a cut in the video and separate it out.
How do I get the video I selected into the new event folder?

The short answer is that you can't.  Purchases are tied to the AppleID used to buy them.  AppleID's cannot be merged, and the content cannot be transferred.

  • I want to copy video, cutaways and audio combined and use in another project. So far I can only copy the video clip or one of the other elements at a time. How do I group all of them?

I want to group my  video clip with its audio and cutaway clips so that I can copy the segment and move it to another project. So far I can only move one element at a time. How can I group all the elements?

You can select multiple objects in the timeline in the usual Mac way - hold down the shift key while you click on the objects then copy, select other project, position playhead where you want to insert then paste.

  • 7610s Animated thumbnails in Video clips folder

I got my 7610s last week and was flicking through the folders when I came to the Video clips folder and I was plesently supprised to see it had animated thumbnails for the video clips .
I then updated to the latest software form my phone model and now the thumbnails arent animated anymore - they just show a small video camera ontop of a previews picture.
Is this an option I need to turn on to get it working again or has this been removed from the latest firmware (If so, WHY !!!!)

    Fixed it!!!
Ok, here's how to do it, for future reference. I think in my case the problem was the frame rate. It was set at 24, but as per http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4025, apple likes 30fps for a 640px movie.
So, if this happens to you, run it through MPEG streamclip (it's a free download) and convert it to 30 FPS Jpeg mov files.
man, such a relief! I hope this helps others.

  • How can I store my video footage in one library? Currently I have video clips in itunes, iphoto, movies folder, imovie, imovieHD... probably some duplicates, How can I clean this up?

Currently I have video clips in itunes, iphoto, movies folder, imovie, imovieHD... probably some duplicates, How can I clean this up?

Yeah, this is frustrating for me, too. I tried a few different variants: keeping everything in Aperture, keeping only videos in iPhoto, keeping videos in Movies folder, etc. Reason being I'd like to be able to sync some videos back to the iPhone will keeping access available for iMovie - which is tougher than it should be. Now that the iPhone does HD videos, Apple needs to either adjust iPhoto to work with videos better or work with iMovie to actually function as a movie database as well as editor.
For now, I, too, have my stuff strewn about on my Mac but I'm trying to consolidate as much as I can into iMovie events on an external drive. I have a bunch of video clips of my 2 year old and I've decided to just group them by year and then put together an edit of each to then put into iTunes so I can view them on AppleTV as well as sync to my iPhone. I figure I won't ever sit down and watch every single clip so I might as well put together the "highlights".

I shot a video clip(800MB) using my iPhone4s but could not copy to my PC (windows XP),please help me

Limitation of XP, videos over 500MB's can't be imported using Camera/Scanner wizard. Try transfering these Videos directly from your phone by selecting them in My Computer and dragging or copying the movie files to your computer's hard drive.

  • Copying/Burning Video Clips from Cmrl DVD w/o Chapters

I've used iDVD to play a cmrl music DVD (without Chapters or menu). I have created video clips that I'd like to copy and burn to a DVD so I can play the
individual songs captured in the video clips. I'm new to OSX and the iDVD
application. I'm willing to buy Toast or MacRipper or other if necessary. Would greatly appreciate any advice anyone would offer. Many thanks, glenn.

    Hi D
You got a miniDV tape - OK
Do You have the Camera - and does it have a FireWire port
same as: (Digital in/out - FireWire (Apple) - IEEE 1394 - i.Link (SONY) - DV Terminal (by Panasonic)
Then connect with a FW-Cable 6-4 pin to Your Mac
    Set in Play mode
    Start iDVD
Select "OneStep DVD" or "Magic Movie"
Put in a DVD-R disk when prompted.
    Sometimes later - Ready !
I use Verbatim DVD-R disks and at an as low x no: as I can get eg x4 (x16 often gives problem
    with any brand of DVDs)
OK You've got iDVD08 - Here You can force the burn speed down to x1 in pref-menu. This gives
    less errors. I do so.
You can also go via iMovie. Use iMovie HD 6. When ready with edit. Close iMovie and drop or import
Your movie into iDVD. Select block diagram and drop Your movie block into the upper most left box.
Now You'll get a self starting movie. But it will end on the theme You selected.
Selecting an as simple menu is a good advice. I use "Bruched metal"
    Select burn.
