Core dump is not having much information

HI All,
We have multithreaded application running on Solaris 5.8.
Application produces core dump.
When we debug the core dump using DBX (for where command) , we can see our function calls on the paticular thread in which the crash is happend.
But the problem is other threads are having only address and can not be seen any applicaiton calls.
Simply what is the problem here ?
Should we install any paticular Solaris pathches ?
If anybody knows patch no , please let me know;

It's hard to tell from your description. First of all, do you debug corefile on the same machine where this core was dumped? And could you also post dbx output that lacks information here?

You would use the Input button on your remote to set the Input to RGB PC and you'll also need audio cables to the TV because the Mini-DVI does not carry audio using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plug. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plug on your TV.
When you first hook it up it will probably have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

I am trying to pair a Casio Gzone Ravine 2 to my IPad and not having much luck, any suggestions?

iPad and phone pair but when I try to turn on connection IPad says not supported.

For what purpose? The iPad only has the BT profiles for keyboards, speakers, headsets, car systems and sharing an internet connection. You can't transfer files over BT.

HT1725 I purchased a album of various artist, however some of the songs did not download, an error message saying something about not having proper information to download??? any thoughts on how I get the songs I paid for but did not download?

After purchasing a album of TV Theme songs, during the download some of the themes would not load, an error message came up saying to the effect I did not have the correct info to download. Does anyone know about this issue & any thoughts on how I aquire the themes I paid for? The themes that did not load still show up in the music list but are greyed out & have an "!" exclamation mark beside the number of the item in the list.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

Try'n to move emails to another provider, not having much luck

fios isn't avail where I live, and DSL is painfully slow here.
So need to export emails and contacts to new provider, there has to be an easier way that forwarding 1 email at a time.
try'd using the other email providers tool to import emails and contacts, and get yahoo doesn't allow that now try back later.
I'm sure when I cancel my DSL service my mail will be gone.
how would I move all the emails and contacts in bulk..

Forwarding email in bulk is not normally supported. At least I've not seen a provider who provided that function.
The easiest solution would be to use an email program such as Thunderbird to download the email to your computer. You could then store and forward them to your new provider as needed. Or just continue to use Thunderbird rather than face similar issues if you switch ISPs again. There are other programs besides Thunderbird which will do the same thing, but that is the one I'm familiar with.

HT1014 Not having much luck with this iMac!

can not import my photos from pc(via migration) and have given up on that, now found my camcorder is not compatable with iMovie, does anyone know of another movie type app that might work for an incompatible camcorder ? Camcorder is sonydcr hc14e. Grrrr, thought it would be plain sailing with i-mac!

This camera works on Macs. It is a standard definition DV tape camera. However, you need a Firewire port. Not all Macs have a Firewire port, but most iMacs do. Some of the laptops do not.
Check to see if you have a Firewire port on your Mac. You can click /About This Mac/More Info/System Report to tell for sure.
If you have a Firewire 400 port, you need a 4 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable.
If you have a Firewire 800 port, you need a 4 pin to 9 pin Firewire cable.
Your Sony camera will have an IEEE 1394 port. This is what Sony calls Firewire and this is where you use the 4 pin end of the cable.

Some recents Macs only have a Thunderbolt port. There are Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptors available, but I have not tried them.
To import from this camera, attach it via Firewire Cable. Set the mode to Playback. Camera must be plugged in to AC power (not batteries only.) Use FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA.

Not having much luck running Windows 8 in BootCamp

Just updated to OS 10.8.3 and downloaded the updated Bootcamp driver that are supposed to support windows 8.
However after installing when windows starts up, it is confined to less that 1/4 of the screen on the left side, the rest is black screen. And I cannot see hardly anything just some background.
I tried using VMWare Fusion 5 to run bootcamp as a vm and it works perfect. I was able to complete the setup and load windows. After that my thought was to try and run the bootcamp drivers setup from inside the VM but it wouldn't let me run it.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I would navigate the usb sticks with the drivers on
to get to amd/ati or nvidia to manually install the video card drivers
the reason vmware works is that it being a virtual machine does not use
the real video card drivers for the video card which bootcamp does (which is why we can play games from there)

Solution : sort of.
The pointer I got from GetObjectArrayElement, for whatever reason, is NULL. So passing it along caused a coredump...
I spent a lot of time of that stupid mistake, and I guess I am going to spend even more on understanding WHY it is NULL, now...

OMS Core dumping 10.2.0.1 - 10.2.0.4 Something to be aware of

Just to warn anybody who this may affect.
My 10.2.0.4 OMS started core dumping manically yesterday, so much so it kept filling the mountpoint where the home was in minutes and effectively crashing the oms.
After a a frantic couple of hours, a sev 1 call that I had no response on, I finally found the issue.
If you run your oms in secure mode, the Apache error and access logs do not rotate. Depening on your OS, once one of these hits 2 Gb, the oms will start core dumping.

Delegate Admin install fails with core dump

I have been attempting to install the iPlanet Delegated Adminstrator with the Messaging Server 5.2 release. I am using Directory Server 5.1 service pack 1 on Solaris 8.
Installation of DS 5.1 goes fine.
Installation of MS 5.2 goes fine.
Installation of the web server 6.0 wtih sp4 goes fine
Every time I attempt to install DA, I get a "Segmentation Fault - core dumped" and absolutely no other information.

Since this is not a normal thing, I only have two suggestions left:
1. Download the latest version if iDA:

2. Download and apply p1 for iMS (now a year old, but the latest publically available version):

3. Install the latest Solaris patch cluster.

Setting up two machines for core dump

Hi, I'm trying to set up two Macs to collect a Core Dump after a Kernel Panic.
A MacBook Pro 3,1 triggers a kernel panic when Mavericks is installed, and either Ethernet or WiFi connections are changed. No diagnostic reports get generated at /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports.
I have been reading on how to set up a core dump over FireWire, since Ethernet seems to be compromised. I'm able to do a core dump by triggering a kernel panic with DTrace. The Development Machine receives and stores the core dump correctly. However if a kernel panic occurs when WiFi is switched off, the Core Dump does not take place, and I don't know if it should work as the DTrace trigger does.
I have System 10.9.1 on both Target and Development machines. The machines are each other connected with a FireWire 800 cable and a ThuderBolt adapter, since Development machine lacks the FireWire port (It's a MacBook Pro retina).
- Target machine is connected to my WiFi network and is also connected to the Ethernet network. The FireWire 800 port is manually set to IP 10.0.1.127
- Development machine is connected to my WiFi network. The FireWire 800 cable coming from the Target machine connects to a ThunderBolt adapter and the port is manually set to IP 10.0.1.128
- On the Target machine (MacBook Pro 3,1) I've set

- On the Development machine (MacBook Pro retina)

- verified that the core dump server is working with

KDP Proxy and CoreDump-Receive dual mode active.
Use 'localhost' as the KDP target in gdb.
Ready.
As mentioned above, triggering a Core Dump with DTrace works just fine.
Turning WiFi Off causes a Kernel Panic, Target machine freezes immediatedly and nothing happens on Development machine.
Forcing power off on Target machine and restarting shows no logs on Console.
I've read very little on GDB and it seems hard to find information, at least on what I'm doing. I'm not trying to debug a kernel extension.
nvram -p dumps mostly jibberish on the terminal screen
I'm tempted on setting up the core dump with Ethernet, but hesitate since WiFi and Ethernet seem to block the system abruptly.
Can someone illuminate me please?

They aren't lost, instead they have been left outside the catalog because they preceded the change.
You can drag the contents of your Lightroom presets folder into the Lightroom Settings folder within Lightroom catalog folder and the application will then see them after relaunch. This is by far the quickest and easiest way of copying existing presets to the central catalog. Follow these steps:
Step 1 - Open you original catalog
Step 2 - Open Lightroom Preferences and choose the Presets tab
Step 3 - Make sure that Store presets with catalog is unchecked
Step 4 - Hit the Show Lightroom Presets Folder... button.
The presets folder will see multiple sub-folders which contain your existing
Step 5 - Open the folder with the moved catalog (i.e. the version you put on the external disk)
Step 6 - Open the folder named Lightroom Settings
Step 7 - Delete it's contents
Step 8 - Drag the contents of the folder you opened in step 4 in to the Lightroom Settings folder that you opened in Step 6
Step 9 - Launch the moved catalog as described in my previous post (i.e. double click it)
If you did everything correctly the catalog will now have access to your presets

In my pro*c program , i have used a cursor to fetch the set of accounts.Once cursor is opened , code will perform set
of operation using fetched data and then cursor is closed. Between open and closing of cursor , i have used 23 EXEC
SQL CLOSE. For example i am copying the value of a to b using strlcpy between fetch and close cursor statement.If
returned value from strlcpy is greater than size of destination variable, then flow should not proceed , in that case I will
close the cursor using EXEC SQL CLOSE and return the flow to calling program. Similarly i have closed the cursor at
another 22 locations.
When i compile the code and run binary the core dump occurs. On analyzing the core it shows
t@null (l@8) terminated by signal SEGV (no mapping at the fault address)
0xffffffffffffffff: <bad address 0xffffffffffffffff>
dbx: core file read error: address 0xfc4ffe48 not in data space
Current function is dbMtBaseClass::Pswd_Change

Recording vinyl with Audacity - not having any luck

I'm trying to record my vinyl collection using audacity and not having much luck. I've got the line in and can get the red recording cursor moving but no waveform appears. I have followed the info on the wiki but I cannot get any further.
The wiki is all over the place with info. Does anyone have an idiots guide?

One of the issues 'glossed over' in the article is that a Mac expects to see a line-level input and many turntables (like mine) need a small pre-amplifier )like this one http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2541471&cp=&sr=1&origkw=li nelevel&kw=linelevel&parentPage=search ) to furnish the proper audio level.
It sounds like this the the original poster's problem.
Another approach is to use the line-level output from your audio amplifier (if you still have one) because the audio amp should have the phono pre-amp built-in.

IPhone Baseband Core Dump

I was just at an event and surfing the web with WiFi when my iPhone (OS 2.0, beta5) locked up for a short time and then showed me a black screen with the message that baseband "wanted to dump core" (or something like that) and that I should run some utility and then power-cycle the phone. I wasn't anywhere near a computer when that happened, and now I can't find the utility in Xcode (or wherever) I was supposed to run.
Has anybody seen this before? What am I supposed to do with the core dump (other than sending it to Apple, I guess)? It's not a big deal, the phone is working fine - I'm just wondering.

I will third that. The same situation for me. Running beta 5 iPhone OS Baseband core dump. Not near my MacBook Pro so just power cycled. It has happened 3 times now. I have noticed dropped calls and other phone related quality issues since I started running the beta os. Hope it's cleared up before the final release.
I would be glad to provide any baseband dump info, if retrievable, provided I have instructions on how.

Core dump are creates even though my server does not crash

I am having an issue with a large number of core dump files getting generated by jrockit that occupies the disk space daily almost 8 files are generated of size 150 to 800 MB
However, what amazes me is that the weblogic server does not crash
I have also checked the logs there where certain errors but not something that could crash my servers and the weblogic server was running all the time.
I know I can stop the generation of core dump files by using ulimit. But if I do so and if my Jrockit crashes It wont generate the core dump file that would be needed
My configuration is
a) WLS Version:10.3.2.0
b) OS Type: Oracle Solaris 10 on SPARC (64-bit)
c) JDK Vendor & Version: BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.5-32_o-121899-1.6.0_14-20091001-2106-solaris-sparcv9
Any help is greatly appreciated

Did you get a solution for this issue ? I have the same HD which works fine on two other Mac Book pros (Snow leopard and mountain Lion) but does not work on a brand new mac book pro with Mavericks
