Corrupt iPod touch music library

I've got the following problem: i've added songs to my iTunes library, then i have synced it to my iPod touch.
Some songs just disappeared on the iPod, other have lost their album artwork. I removed these songs and synced again.
After some reboots of the iPod the problem seemed to be gone, but i connected the iPod to iTunes and a message appeared:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "xxx". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings"
I don't understand why it happenned - the faulty songs were bought on the iTunes Music Store.
After this message some other messages appeared - the screenshots are below.
Do I need to restore? I really think it is weird because of the message saying that "the software required for communication with this iPod is not installed".
It is a Mac: isn't it integrated in the system core?
Thank you

My specs are: iPod touch 4G, iOS 5.1.1, Mac OSX 10.7.4, iTunes 10.6.1 (64-bit)

Yes, you may have to restore. something happened. Sometimes things just happen for no reason and the problem never comes back. Sometime it is due to a hardware probem.
I would first disconnect and reconect the iPod. Also close and repen iTunes
Also reboot the computer
Also reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
All before you restore.

  • How do you sync iPod Touch music library to iTunes Match for transferring to/using on main computer iTunes?

Hello, and thank you for any help anyone can offer. I subscribed to iTunes Match to transfer my music that's been stuck on my iPod Touch (iOS 5.1.1) to my new computer.
First, some background to explain my problem. On an old laptop, I had 15,000+ songs (mostly video game music downloaded online) that I synced to my iPod Touch. The computer containing that music started having trouble and likely died. I was unable to afford having it looked at, but all the music from it has remained on my iPod Touch.
Recently, instead of trying to have the old computer fixed, I bought a new laptop. I was looking for a solution to get the music from my iPod Touch onto my new computer, since I know syncing with it would cost me every song I have on the iPod Touch that I didn't download on iTunes Store. I thought iTunes Match was the solution, that it would bring the music on my iPod Touch to the iCloud, and I'd at last be able to download my huge library onto the new computer from there.
Now, the problem: I had to purchase the iTunes Match service on my laptop iTunes. It put all my purchased music from the laptop on iTunes Match. Well, when I go to iPod Touch and try to turn on iTunes Match, it says: "iTunes Match will replace the music library on this device." I assume if I do that, it'll wipe out my 15,000+ iPod Touch songs from my old laptop and replace them with the 1200 or so that I've purchased from the iTunes Store (which I already have on my iPod)!!! That is the last thing I want to do! Is there a way of getting my iPod Touch library to the cloud so I can access it on iTunes, or have I wasted $25 on iTunes Match? If I wanted to replace the 15,000 songs on my iPod with the little library of purchased music on my new computer, I would just plug my iPod into it and sync! Furthermore, my purchases were already available on the iCloud when I authorized this new computer, without spending a dime. I've put a lot of time into my library, and making playlists as well. Any help getting my iPod music on iTunes Match is greatly appreciated! Sorry if I've overlooked something obvious, this is my first experience with cloud-based services.

iTunes Match does not work this way. The service does not scan the music on an iOS device, only an iTunes library. For your music to be available in the cloud it must first be in an iTunes library. See the following articles:

An iOS device or iPod is not a storage device or backup of your music library. It is your responsibliity to maintain a backup of your music and other personal data.

  • Can I shut off wifi to prevent my ipod touch music library from being tampered with?

I switched to a different media source but once more my CD music disappeared. But instead of being corrupted this time it was converted to other. It was fixed by just pulling up the music app list and unchecking/checking the songs again thankfully though.. But if I shut off my wi-fi on my ipod will this prevent my cd music on my touch from being messed with?
I already got off the phone with a rep two days ago and they scratched their heads as to what's even causing this. We did everything known to fix it, and after looking at the numerous threads now its obvious it isn't just a hardware issue. Everyone is having issues with their cd music. I'd rather just have this nightmare end by any means possible.

I doubt wifi has anything to do with  unless yo have the iPod and iTunes setup to sync via wifi.
To turn wifi off place the iPod in airplane mode.

  • HT4946 I bought a new computer and want to put my Ipod touch music library onto this new computer.  How do I do this?

Can anyone help?  Can I get my iTunes library from my Ipad touch into my new PC?  From what I've read, it looks like I have to buy a special software to move it over.  However, I thought when I bought the ipod that it said I could have the library on other computers. Or was it that the library could be on several ipod devices?  Thanks for any help.

  • Backup iPod Touch music to computer without adding it to iTunes Library

I would like to backup/copy the music and books from my Mom's iPod Touch to my computer without mixing it in with my personal library.  I basically want to move all of the iPod Touch's content to a folder on my harddrive ("Mom's iPod" or whatever).  I have already created a backup in iTunes, but it is my understanding that the iTunes backup does not back up the music or books.  Is there a way to do this?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Based on the recomendations by lllaass, I tried 2 different programs.  Both were selected because they were free:
The first program I tried was SharePod.  This decision was based on CNET & user reviews.  It worked great for moving the music from the iPod to the computer, was easy to use, and was free; however, it is limited to music (it had a photo section but it did not see the one photo on the iPod so I was not able to test the feature).  If all you need to move is music I recommend this solution.
After I realized there were eBooks on the iPod, I had to find a second program to back them up.  I used Syncios (again based on CNET & user reviews).  This also worked great for backing up the eBooks, and I was even able to backup the apps (all were free apps, but I thought I would test the feature anyway).  I did not try to backup the music because I already backed it up with SharePod, but I would imagine it will work as well as the books & apps.
**BEWARE** when installing Syncios: the reviews stated the install adds malware.  To avoid the program installing additional software, make sure to select custom install and uncheck the additional programs!

I was wondering if anyone could offer me some help. First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Brand new Ipod touch old library

So I got a new ipod touch and a new macbook. I was able to import my itunes library for my old ipod to the new macbook easily. Now, how do I get my library onto the new ipod touch? If I just plug it in will it sync? I kept the account info the same and authorized the new computer on the account. Can I have two ipods using the same itunes library? TIA

*Can I have two ipods using the same itunes library?*
Yes you can, at the moment I use three different model iPods with the same library. Just connect your new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions to register and name it. It will connect to iTunes and prompt you to automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like. You can leave it at manual update or choose to sync music - selected playlists: How to use multiple iPods with one computer</a

  • Mac won't recognize iPod Touch after library move

Ever since my music library outgrew my internal hard drive and I moved it to my Time Capsule, my computer doesn't recognize my iPod Touch when I plug it in, though the iPod is charging from the USB port. I've deleted iTunes, rebooted and reinstalled in accordance with one of Apple's help pages, but to no avail. I've also tried creating a new empty iTunes library on my internal hard drive and starting iTunes from that, but that hasn't worked either. Any ideas?

I've followed all steps in the following troubleshooting documents:
    "iPod touch not appearing in iTunes" sections 1-7;
    "Mac OS X v10.6 or later: iOS device not recognized in iTunes after restart";
It may be of interest that I do not have the file "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig", which the latter document recommends deleting. I suspect that that file is either unnecessary or it should be recreated by iTunes, so it seems an unlikely candidate for the source of the problem, however.

  • IPod Touch Music Syncing Issue

Using iTunes 10.7, I'm trying to add music to my 4G iPod touch running 6.1.2.  The files appear within the iPod sidebar Music tab, greyed out with the sync icon next to them but they never finish copying; they just stay grey and nothing happens.  I am able to select and delete them, and they remain after I unplug and plug back in, but the iPod never shows anything in Music.  When I add files manually, the sync icon replaces the sidebar eject icon, during which time it is able to create playlists in the sidebar, but then the sync ends immediately and the iTunes status bar never displays the copying process, just the Apple logo.  Same thing happens whether I add 1 file or 100 files.  Same thing happens whether I sync music automatically or manually (I have switched between the two methods several times).  I have tried adding new files and different file formats to my iTunes library; those ones don't work either.  I have also tried restoring from the iPod backup, and resetting the iPod entirely, but I still get the same result.  Additionally, I am able to manage Apps as usual.
Anybody have any ideas?  As a last resort, I may try re-installing iTunes 10.7, but I would prefer to find a fix for this without upgrading iTunes to 11 or 12.

I had already tried that and I got the same problem.  I did get the issue resolved, although I don't know the reason it was acting up.  What I did was upgrade iTunes to iTunes 11, update the iPod to 6.1.6, then downgrade back to iTunes 10.7

  • Ipod touch and Library

  • Ipod touch music"No content "

I have Ipod Touch 4G 8gb jailbroken iOS 5.1.1. when i open music library it's showing me No content from today. There was 200+ songs till yesterday when i switched off my ipod.i have also tried reset and restore from backup couple of times but nothing happens!! But there is 2.2 gb space showing in others in itunes.so my songs must be there. what should i do to recover my all songs. If i do restore to factory setting all my installed apps will be deleted . Pls give me some good suggestions .

Jailbreaking frequently causes problems and voids the Apple warranty. It also means that you will not get support from Apple, including from this Apple forum.
