Corrupted iTunes and CDSAudioCaptureSupport

Help requested.
4 days ago I received my new iMac 2.8GHz 27" i7 and started to migrate from my old MacBook Pro. I used the migration function over firewire and at the end of the process I received the following message:
'System extension cannot be used
The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/CDSAudioCaptureSupport.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update'
I clicked OK and then went looking for further information on google and these support forums. There is very little mentioned about CDSAudioCaptureSupport that I could find. Maybe it has something to do with Toast Titanium 10?
So I didn't find an answer to this issue or a way to reinstall the CDSAudioCaptureSupport extension. I tried opening a few applications and everything seemed to be working until I came to open iTunes.
When I try to start iTunes (as installed when the iMac was shipped to me, I get the following message:
'This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.'
I reinstalled iTunes for the system disk provided by Apple but I still get the same error. I have also reformatted my hard drive and done a vanilla reinstall of the OSX10.6.2 - again from the disk provided by Apple. I have also limited the migration assistant and now not moved any user accounts over - I just migrated the applications and machine settings.
Still I got the same 2 messages listed above.
Each reinstall is taking hours to execute and now after 4 days I am getting frustrated by such a poor experience!
The only other information I can give is that I want to keep my all of my personal information such as mail, iTunes music, address book, etc. and reinstalling all of my applications would be a complicated and time consuming task. One that I want to avoid if possible.
Does anyone know what to do from here?
Thanks,
Steve

It's part of CD Spin Doctor which comes with Toast.
Update Toast here-> http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/toast/software_updatesv10.html
I have also limited the migration assistant and now not moved any user accounts over - I just migrated the applications and machine settings.
Moving the user accounts moves only your user data.
Migrating the apps can be a problem if they are not Snow Leopard compatible, as is the case here with your version of Toast.
The only other information I can give is that I want to keep my all of my personal information such as mail, iTunes music, address book, etc.
Those are in your user accounts, what you did not migrate.
and reinstalling all of my applications would be a complicated and time consuming task. One that I want to avoid if possible.
Generally not a problem but you should check for updates.

  • Corrupted itunes and re-downloaded issue

I have Windows 7 and my itunes randomely said it has been corrupted and I needed to reinstall it. When I did it then said the library cannot be read because it was created with a newer version of itunes. I am at a loss as to what to do. Please help!

    Hi teachamen!
I have some information here that I believe will help to resolve your issue. First, since your library file says it was created by a newer version of iTunes, let's make sure the latest version is installed on your computer. In order to verify this, you may need to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes on your PC. There is a group of components that must be uninstalled from your computer in a certain order when uninstalling iTunes for the best possible conditions, and that is outlined in this article right here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Then you will want to make sure you download the latest version of iTunes, which can be found here:
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
After performing these steps, if you are still having issues opening your iTunes library, then you will want to see this article about re-creating your iTunes library file:

  • Please help! My Itunes says corrupt file and will not open (IMac 2010). I couldn't fix it by reinstalling so I moved it to trash. It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I can't delete or open to close it, what do I do

    Please help!
My Itunes says there is a corrupt file and will not open (IMac 2010). I couldn't fix it by reinstalling ITunes so I moved ITunes to trash. It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj". I can't delete ITunes or open ITunes to close the Japanese.lproj, what do I do? Thank you for any help you can provide..

It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj".
Interesting. This sort of thing is more common on Windows systems. Taken at face value, one of the iTunes program files (one of the Japanese language resources) is damaged.
I'd try running your Disk Utility over your startup disk. Does it find/repair any damage? If so can you empty your trash and reinstall your iTunes successfully now?

  • TS1538 My ipod classic is sometimes recognized by itunes and a message that the ipod was corrupted and would need to be reset.

I have an ipod classic 120gb.  The other day it just       quit working after I downloaded an ebook to it.  I have tried 3 different computers with 3 different operating systems (Windows 7, Vista and XP) and I have received the same response from all after I hooked up my ipod to itunes (running latest version).  The message comes back that the ipod has been corrupted and needs to be reloaded.  I downloaded the software and it appears to be loaded onto the ipod as I get a message back that it is restarting the ipod.  However, after this "restart", it just appears to die and is never recognized by itunes.  I do a safe disconnect from Windows, closed itunes and bring it up again, but it does the same thing. The ipod does show up in my Windows control panel.
I feel like I am lost in some continuous vicious loop, any suggestions out there?  Thanks....

You may refer to this tutorial, it's about how to fix iTunes sync problem with iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • BRAND NEW iPod not "recognized" by itunes and "appears to be corrupted"????

I recently purchased an 80gb ipod classic and when I came home to connect it to my computer, itunes opened and the following message appeared:
iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this ipod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod
I just got this, and had never even turned it on, so how can it already be corrupted? I tried disconnecting and then reconnecting the ipod, to no avail. I then restored the ipod, again still message. I even quit iTunes and then reopened it, and still it says the same thing.
Here is a screenshot of what I'm seeing:

Any idea on what's going on? This is really annoying/frustrating considering it's brand new.

Thanks, I ended up getting the newest version of iTunes (I had 7, just not 7.7 or whatever that little insignificant update was) and then tried again. This time, itunes itserlf wouldn't even open because that version of itunes only worked with Mac OS X 10.4.10, and I had 10.4.4
I did a software update for my OS, which I HATE doing because of all the glitches and possible problems associated with updates but restarted the computer.
After doing Opaldad's helpful tip, I connected the ipod and restored it. After that, its working perfectly.
    Thanks for the help
and to anyone who has this in the future, make sure you have the current version of itunes and your OS
Now, just have to wait for my 14 gb of music to upload

  • Ipod freezes computer and itunes and has corrupt songs

    Hi,
a while back I was having problems with my 160gb IPod classic. Every time I plugged it in the entire computer, and iTunes would freeze.
This ended with a trip to the Apple store and after a lengthy session, the iPod was restored to factory settings. (The guys had a lot of trouble doing this, didn't seem an easy process)
Recently I plugged the iPod in (Windows 8) and added a few more albums.
Later on when playing the iPod on my dock, I noticed a lot of the CDs were missing, completely erased. I had heard of a bug on iTunes which removes CDs that haven't been bought via iTunes, but seems strange as NONE of my albums were bought from iTunes.
I've also noticed that songs appear to be corrupted on some albums. They begin to play, stop, then skip to the next playable song, skipping over the ones that won't play.
Problem is that when I plug it into my HP laptop, it freezes until it is unplugged again. Same with iTunes, it wont respond while the iPod is plugged in.
The computer registers it as a removable drive but says it is full. Device manager recognises it and says it is working ok and has the latest driver etc.
What I want to do it restore it to factory settings but I just can't do it via iTunes and the computer doesn't give me the option as it's not recognisable in 'My Computer' as an iPod.
Can't take it into the store again as the warranty has expired.
There must be a way to return it to factory settings, if not manually without a computer, than maybe via device manager?
I'm not too up on the technical side of things so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Peter.

Eventually managed to restore to factory settings.
Anyone heard about that ITunes 'bug/virus' or is it just scaremongering?

  • I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning was corrupted. What steps should I take to export iMovie for youtube?

I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning were corrupted on youtube. I tried a different photo, and the corruption took place at the same moment of the video. How do I prepare the video for export to get it ready for youtube? I wasn't sure whether to clik web or web streaming. Am I supposed to clik Quick Time after I clik Share?

I unfortunately cannot remember where I got the 'trrndlines' plugin... I assume that it must have been from CFX (as it is located under /Users/Dom/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins/cfx/XXXtrrndlines.bundle).
As for what it does, I also do not know, as I do not think I ever used it in my previous video projects.
At this stage, I think I just need to uninstall it so that iMovie doesnt try to use it.
Do you know how to uninstall a CFX plugin in iMovie?
NOTE: I have re-installed iMovie 6.0.4 (instead of iMovie 6.0.3), but still encounter the same issue.

  • IPad 2 music does not play and high resolution pictures get corrupted when syncing through iTunes on 64 bit Win 7.  Anyone else have a problem with iTunes corrupting music and pictures from 64bit machine?

Works from a 32 bit XP machine.  Does not work from a 64bit Win 7 machine.  It's 64 bit that seems to be the issue; the music won't start playing, and for pictures, it's when they're more than 768x1024 resolution that they appear very low resolution and/or corrupt.  None of the normal tricks work (different user account; different USB port; different USB hub controller) and the problem is replicable.  The music and JPEG and PNGs, however, are fine if transferred via a Windows network to a 32 bit machine ie it's not the music/image files.

Dear Katrina, the problem has finally been solved, with the help of a computer-savvy friend of mine who came round this afternoon. As a courtesy, and to thank you for all your help in this matter, I want to share the solution with you.
A piece of the puzzle was missing, as you said, and it lay in the tenth line of the XML document I relayed to you....
    <key>Music Folder</key><string>file://localhost/C:/Users/Simon/Music/iTunes/iTunes%20Media/</string>
My friend spotted that the command string contained a sub-folder of the iTunes folder called "iTunes Media". iTunes was expecting to find all my music there, but that folder didn't exist.
So I created a new folder called "iTunes Media", and moved all my musical content into it, leaving all the command files in the original iTunes folder.
Then I moved the "iTunes Media" folder into the "iTunes" folder, so that it was a sub-folder of the latter.
Then I re-opened iTunes and - joy of joys! - everything works once again. I am re-united with all of my music, and without having to make over 14,000 manual location exercises. I can't tell you how exciting that is.
The mystery is solved, and what had me so puzzled seems obvious now. Thanks again for your help. Without you I might never have got to this point.

  • My iphone cant restore or update and currently in recovery mood. The story is when i update my iphone from ios 7.0.3 to latest update via itunes and it said my download was corrupt. Then, my iphone being in recovery mood and cant be update. How to..??

I had tried and restore again and again via itunes and it said the same answers. My donwload was corrupt. I try with manual restore (shift + restore) in itunes and it failed already and the popup window said "my iphone cant restore iphone. Unknown error (14)." For now, my iphone still in recovery mood and the logo connect to i tunes appear when i switch on. I tried use another usb, another computer and another port to restore this but all method was failed. What the problem? Help me.

    Hi there besiburuk,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.
    -Griff W.
