  • [FSCM] add parallel valuation area and new valuation classes

    Hi, everyone
I have a plan to add parallel valuation area and new (general) valuation class for International Financial Reporting Standards. But I have no experience adding another valuation area. Basically, SAP says new valuation area could be added any time. The concept of parallel valuation area also support that. But I am concerning that there could be a problem technically. Even though there would be a problem when I try to transfer valuation class of new valuation area.
If someone has an experience with these problems, please let me know and prepare that.
    Thanks.
    Best regards.

OX14 - Define Valuation Area (Tick one only- Once your system go live, no more changes)
Most company take the SAP recommended choice - Value Material Stock at Plant level
Value Material Stock at Plant or Company Level
o If you valuate material stocks at plant level, the plant is the  valuation area.
o If you valuate material stocks at company code level, the company code is the valuation area.
o The decision you make applies to the whole client.

  • Valuation Area and Material  master

    Dear All,
Can anyone explain the relation between Valuation Area and Material Master.
According to my knowledge,Plant has relation with Material master.
SAP recommends Plant to be Valuation Area.
    Regards

    Hi Venkat,
Valuation Area is the level at which u need ur Material to be valuated .
    V have 2 options as :
    1> Company Code
    2> Plant
    SAP recomends aat Plant level.
If u Company code is used then the Material is valuated at same price across whole company.
The decission of Valuation Area has to be done at configuration level.
And once done , it should not be changed ..............as SAP states
    Thanks & Regards
    Hope this helps

  • Assign Business Area to Plant/Valuation Area and Division

    Hi,
While assigning Business Area to Plant/Valuation Area and Division, in SPRO we are getting two tabs for the same:
    a. Allocation for Plants and Valuation Areas differs.
    b. Allocation for Plants & valuation areas identical.
What is the actual use of the same.
In our case, Plant & Valuation area is same, hence we need to use the option b. There is no need to assignment using option a.
What is the significance of DIVISION here.
    Pls. guide.
    Regards,

    hi
    1. Allocation for Plants and Valuation Areas differs.
This is done when valuation Area is Company Code
    2. Allocation for Plants & valuation areas identical.
This is done when Plant & Valuation Area both are Same
As you are using same plant & valuation area you can use option 2.
    Division;
A way of grouping materials, products, or services. The system uses divisions to determine the sales areas and the business areas for a material, product, or service.

  • Treasury Money Markets- Operative Valuation Area and Parallel Valuation Are

    Hello Folks
I have a problem I am trying to fix in Treasury Money Markets. The guys that created the fixed term deposits in Money markets did not create them in the Operative Valuation area. They created them in the Parallel Valuation area and went ahead to initialize it, they deleted the operative valuation area. Now the problem came in when new transactions were created. In the process of creation they asked for the operative Valuation area i.e. the new transactions being created. This was then created, but now the problem comes in settling and posting of the old transactions that have matured. These do not exist in the Operative Valuation area.
I can’t post anything using TBB1 for the old transactions that were created without the operative valuation area, the system dumps and from the analysis I can see that it’s the lack of the operative valuation area. For the new transactions being created, a payment request cannot be generated for transactions requiring one.
How can I make sure that the Transactions in the Parallel valuation area also exist in the operative valuation area? Has anyone ever had this problem? Any suggestions on how I can go about solving this problem?
    Regards
    Valentine

    Hi,
I assume the valuation area you are asking about is in transaction manager component only.  Technically all valuation areas are same in the sense that they have the same functionality.  But from a functional stand point, every valuation area is determined based on either different accounting principles or different valuation needs.  For e.g. one valuation area can be for your local GAAP while one can be for IFRS.  It all depends on the business requirements whether you need multiple valuation areas at all or you can use one itself.
By default 1 valuation area is required and hence 001 will be active and this will be your operative valuation area.  Any other valuation are you define will be parallel valuation area.  Now if you dont want other valuation areas, then you need not create them.  In your system, if you have been using 004 as for lets say IFRS and after upgrading you can configure 001 according to IFRS itself if you dont want VA according to any other GAAP.

  • How to define the size of report area and its elements?

How can I define the report area size and its elements? And how can I define that for each printed paper, the details area will repeat horizontally or vertically?
Is there any way to change the measuring units?
Are there any difference between Crystal Reports that is bundled with Visual Studio 2005 to the standalone version that don't allow me doing what I need?
    Thanks.

    Hi Juliano,
I hope this is what you had in mind...
    1.  File / Page setup: set your paper size, portrait/landscape and margins.
    2.  Section Expert: the page header &footer sections are 'locked' in that each page will have the space indicated dedicated to these sections; report header & footer - this is the space dedicated on the first and last page of the document. The remaining space available will be used up by the Details section.
I'm not sure how you can get the Details to print verticall vs horizontally - except maybe with cross-tab format.
    3.  Measuring units: is this for the ruler? This is pulled from your computer settings.
The rest I'm not sure about but I hope this is enough to get you started!

  • MIRO Cost Element error for Cost center

    Hi,
When i am doing MIRO - there are some price variances. System is giving the error to maintain the Cost center for that price differance cost element.
But i have already maintain the Cost center for that Cost element in OKB9 Transaction. Why the system is asking for Cost center assignment again?
    Kindly help me
    Thanks
    Sunil

    Hi Sunil,
Maintain the OKB9 settings with valuation area mandatory and dont give business area in the sub-sequent screen. Maintain only Valuation area and Cost center. It will not give any error and it will pull the cost center from OKB9.
    Thanks

  • Group Currency in Profit Center Valuation ?

    Hello,
    We have 3 currencies configured, 1. Local Currency(10), 2.Group Currency(30) 3.Group Currency in Profit Center Valuation(32).
What do you mean by  Group Currency in Profit Center Valuation?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Srinath

In FI you can manage up to three parallel valuation methods to support transfer prices. The valuation bases are stored using the additional currency and the ledger facilities.
You can use the following valuation methods: 0 - Legal valuation, 1- Group valuation, 2- Profit center valuation.
Also you can have the following currencies: 10 - Company code currency, 30-Group currency, 40-Hard currency, 50-Index-based currency, 60-Global company currency.
The currency and the valuation method are combined in the financial accounting document to form the currency and valuation type. For example, if you want to make a group valuation in the group currency, you enter currency and valuation type 31 in the company code.
IN your case a group valuation in group currency and a profit center valuation in group currency, as well as the legal valuation in company code currency is defined.
The following settings are made in the company code:
The corporate valuation and the profit center valuation are managed in the second and third ledgers, which you have to create yourself. The valuation category used is stored in the ledger master data. You need to enter the relevant currencies in the ledger master record.
You post complete values to each ledger, not delta values. This presentation has the advantage that the parallel valuation methods can be managed in logically and physically separate ledgers. This enables a simple authorization control when accessing the datasets of the parallel valuation methods.
Different valuations can also be stored in the Special Purpose ledgers, just as in the general ledger.
In each ledger master record, you can define whether the ledger manages a legal valuation, a group valuation, or a profit center valuation.

  • Valuation area 001 posting issue

    HI,
I have got this error message. System doesn't post to VA 001 prior to 20.05.2011. How can I resolve this?
Business Transaction Cat: Interest on  Position Date: 01.05.2011 is before the initialization key date of valuation area 001
    Message no. TPM_TRG461
    Diagnosis
The business transaction ' Business Transaction Cat: Interest' with position date  Position Date: 01.05.2011 should be changed or created. It occurs before the initialization key date of valuation area 001. The business transaction that posted the position value on the key date may no longer specify the correct value.
    System Response
The business transaction is not transferred to valuation area 001 since it occurs before the initialization key date.
    Procedure
If the position displays an incorrect book value based on the change made, you may be able to adjust the book value by manual valuation.

    Hi,
Suppose I want to capture all the postings which were made starting from the issue date to Go-live date for a fixed income instrument say bond or fixed deposit then what should be the approach?
What if I keep initialization date as 01.01.2004 for all valuation areas and momentarily make update type not relevant for posting and complete all accrual/amortisation/valuation processes for the past postings and then revert back the changes made to update type.  Will it help to capture entire life cycle?
Assumption is all the instruments have issue or purchase date after 01.01.2004.
    Thanks

  • Valuation area not define in STO

    Hi experts,
When we create STO,  It said valuation area not defined.
I checked the spro, the plant has assigned to company code, and in valuation assignment , I have assigned the business area.
but in T001K, it really doesn;'t have valuation content.
So where I shoud assign the valuation area?  I just use same valuation area for plant A and pant B.
    Hope to get your help.
    Thanks
    ALice

    Hi Alice,
You never define the valuation area,
You Define "Valuation Control", Valuation area cld be at the Plant Level or may be at the company code Level.
Generally it is kept at the Plant level only.
    Path for this is:-
    IMG>Materials Management>Valuation and Account Assignment>Account Determination>Account Determination Without Wizard-->Define Valuation Control.
then you group together the valuation areas (Plant) in a Valuation Grouping Code, Same Path with-->Group Together Valuation Areas
and after this you do all the configurations based on the valuation grouping code.
Valuation grouping code is actually a logical entry.
this you do to avoid the repetitive job of doing valuation for each plant if you have more no. of plants.
In your case may be no valuation grouping code is assigned to your plant.
    Please check
    Hope it helps.

  • Convert Operative Valuation Area to meet the New GL requirements

    Hi experts,
Up to now, in our customeru2019s ECC 6 system in the treasury module, there was only one operative valuation area (001) that it is linked to SAP/FI. This operative valuation area calculates results and creates accounting entries based on the Local GAAP which is the only existing ledger in SAP/FI. Our customer wants to activate the New GL functionality in SAP/FI and moreover to have as leading ledger the (New) IFRS Ledger through the migration approach. The other ledger (secondary) will be the local GAAP ledger.
What we already know is that the operative valuation area (001) must be always linked to the leading ledger. Thus the solution for this situation will be the conversion of all the flows from the existing operative valuation area (001) to the new valuation area (002)[new   Local GAAP] and after the respective customizing to initialize the IFRS balances per financial instrument to the new operative valuation are (001) [new IAS GAAP].
Could you please be kind enough to know if there is a conversion tool which can deal with this situation or there are other alternative approaches to the issue described above?
    Thank you for reading it,
    G.P.

Thank you all for your replies.
Our problem is not on how to activate parallel valuation areas and to perform the respective customizing settings for parallel valuation and posting.
Up till now the operative valuation area 001 u2013 (Local GAAP), (we do not have second valuation area), is linked with the current leading ledger in SAP/FI, (there is only one General Ledger in SAP/FI based on Local GAAP). From now on and after the activation in SAP/FI the New GL functionality through the migration process, the Leading Ledger in SAP/FI will be the (New) IFRS Ledger.
The operative valuation area (001) in TRM must be always linked with the primary leading ledger of SAP/FI.
The problem is in the link between the operative valuation area (001) in TRM and the Leading Ledger in SAP/FI. We cannot continue to use as operative valuation area (001) the current one that makes posting to Local GAAP ledger and SAP/FI to have as primary ledger the new one that is based on IAS GAAP.
So the question is after the activation of the parallel valuation areas how to convert the flows from the up till now operative valuation area (001) into a secondary valuation area (002) and to use as operative valuation area (001) the new one based on IFRS.
Thank you again for your replies, we would appreciate any help.

  • Processing payment in Parallel Valuation areas

    Hi gurus,
from business point of view, you trigger payments only from Operative valuation area (001), which means in SAP, that:
    - (step 1) first you post respective flows (TBB1), which results in some open items on Open G/L account (one clearing accont) or Customer subledger;
    - (step 2) then you execute payemnt program (F111 or F110), which results in clearing of previous open item (in step 1) and creates new open item on respective bank subaccount (depends on Master data of Business partner - SI: payment details);
    - (step 3) and last you receive your bank statement, representing confirmation of executed payment. Then you of course post bank account vs bank subaccount and clear the last one.
However, my question is  - do you need to follow the same 3 steps for Parallel Valuation areas? Or instead at the beggining you only post to Operative Valuation area (at TBB1), when execute payment run (F111), process bank statement and only after that update Parallel Valuation areas, without steps 2 and 3 (described above). How then it's possible to achieve such functionality, that posting (TBB1) would directly affect respective bank account (vs posting over clearing account and subaccount) - do you need another posting specifications, assigned to payment relevant update types in Parallel Valuation areas and another account symbol, representing Bank account direcly or some other solutions?
    Appreciate your advise.
    Rgds,
    Renatas

    Hi Prasad,
    thanks for your reply.
I pretty understand the idea of Parallel Valuation areas.
However, if you say that you don't post to GL with TTB1 (I mean those Update types are marked as not relevant for posting) in the Parallel Valuation areas, so my question is how you will get your update of GL accounts in those non-leading leadgers and create required Balance Sheet ? Let's say, you placed deposit of 1.000 EUR with some bank with start date 24/04/20XX, so TBB1 should produce such kind of posting in Leading ledger:
Debit /// Position Money market (Asset side of Balance)    /// 1.000 EUR /// Posting date 24/04/20XX
Credit /// Bank clearing accoount (Asset side of Balance) /// 1.000 EUR /// Posting date 24/04/20XX

  • Differences in the bill cost center for area valuation

    Hi experts,
When creating an invoice with MIRO transaction we have a difference in the invoice, that difference is imputed to a expenses/benefits account. The standard tries to get the cost center related to that expenses/benefits account assigned in the transaction OKB9.
We need to take the cost center from a valuation area, which is in a lower level in the OKB9.
Is it possible to do it with and FI or CO sustitution, how? Or can it be done in another way?
    thanks very much,

You have some options around this. You can set the system up in such a way that the "differences" are posted to the same place as the original posting, be it Cost Element-Cost centre combination, Material, etc
If you want to keep the purchase price variance account, you can use a cost center per plant/valuation area, by setting it up in OKB9.

  • Report Painter Request - Cost Center and WBS Element

    Hi Everyone,
Currently, my company settles all project related expenses through to a cost center by way of an internal settlement cost element (category 21).  The issue with this is that when the expense gets to the cost center, they lose all visability as to where the expense originated, such as salaries or travel expense (category 1 cost elements).  We can't switch the settlements to the originating cost element from wbs to cost center just because of the additional data/volume that will cause.  My thought was to create a report painter that can run by cost center but also show the wbs's that settle to that cost center and group the expenses by primary cost element (cat 1).  I'm assuming that there is a way to marry a cost center and wbs element by way of the wbs settlement rule but how would that be done for reporting purposes?  I've seen it done before by way of a nightly job that created sets based on the combination of cost center and wbs but I'm not sure how that was done.  Any advise and examples?
    Example:
    Cost Center:  IT
WBS: A.0017.01.01 (settles to cost center IT)
    Postings made:
    1.  CC IT and CE 552000 "salaries"..............................$20,000
    2.  WBS A.0017.01.01 and CE 552000 "salaries"........... $5,000
    3.  Settlement of WBS to CC (expenses flow through to CC IT by way of CE 985000)
I want to run CC IT and see that the account 552000 really shows $25,000 and can be broken down by cost object (CC and WBS by the amounts above)
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Hi Peter,
I had a similar requirement and used report painter report group 1SHK-002 (in library 1VK).
I took a copy of the standard and ameneded it slightly, I switched the explode so it occured on the cost center not cost element.
The report runs so that direct costs on the cost center are shown at primary cost level. And values settled to the cost center are shown on the partner object. In your case i guess WBS Elements (Partner ObjType WBS).
Now in my case I didnt need cost element breakdown on partner level, just on cost center so effectively I have(sorry for text alignment but I hope you get the idea):
    GL1   .............  100
    GL2   .............  250
    + Cost center1 total ....350
    GL3 .............   50
    GL4 ............. 100
    + Cost center2 total.... 150
    Primary Cost Total ..... 500
    X-YZ-1.200 .............   50
    X-YZ-1.400 ............. 100
    + WBS total ............. 150
    IO 1............. 100
    IO 2  ............. 100
    +IO total  ............. 200
    Partner Total............. 350
    Overall total .............  850.
Its not exactly like your requirement but it might be a good report for you to work with to get what you need.
