Costumize Control - Few problems.
Hello everybody,
I'm new to JavaFX and I want to getting start by doing a Simple customized control. I got few questions wondering if somebody can give some valuable advices.
1. For a simple Control, do I still need to follow the Control/Skin/Behaviour structure or can I just simply extend Node or Control to do everything within on class?
2. My planned Control want to do something resizeable, but the methods like setPrefWidth, setWidth within the parent class Control is all final, how should I cope with sizes to arrange the skin to be display accordingly? the only way I can see it is to add change Listener to widthProperty which is a bit awkward. I actually played a little bit with the width & height property change listener. I put my control in a AnchorPane, if I set all 4 anchors for each border, it works fine that I can get the size when window changes. If I don't set any anchor, when I want to set the size by calling methods, but all the methods seems doesn't work. For example, calling setPrefWidth(200.0) and the widthProperty remains 0.0.
Please somebody give some ideas or recommend some good stuff to read.

( never knew so much beach-ball and force quits were possible ! )
Dear friends in Austin bought and just sent me a used 2009 21.5" on 10.7.5 ( 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo / 4 GB 1067 MHz RAM ) . . and it has 487.01 free out of 499.25 GB.
I'm not diving head-first into Lion ( it seems I've heard more problematic tales on that OS then others, maybe ? ), so until I figure out how to enjoy my 600+ GBs on a "new" 499 GB, I'm booting the "new" one off the same external with everything amassed up thru now.
I indeed get confused about which HD is "in charge" . . .
Leopard's on the external, but it's being processed thru Lion, kind'a ? . . . right ?!
That would suggest many things need to be reconciled :
I first noticed Quicktime Pro couldn't play mp4s of 1080 movie burns.
Audio plays . . picture's black !
That was my first question.
Then, a simple Control/Shift/3 screen-shot came out completely scrambled . . everytime !
Then things got deeper !!
A simple "oh good, iTunes isn't detecting my iPod . . let's try a restart" resulted in the infamous "your computer needs to be restarted, please hold the power button for several seconds . . ." descending kernel panic screen !!
More attempts got lesser results, up to no gearwheel at all on unchanging gray screen. . . till I let it be awhile and got back to the kernel screen.
12 hours later it just let me boot to the internal HD with Lion.
But I felt a run of Disk Warrior was still in order . .
I get :
"DiskWarrior cannot currently be run from this disk because Mac OS X ignores ownership of some disks by default . . ."
it suggest an approach which ends with :
3) Click the "Sharing & permissions" triangle
4) Uncheck "Ignore ownership on this volume"
This becomes a ring of Catch 22 till my head hurts !!
Right now, I can't even find an icon of the volume for Get Info, but when I saw it yesterday, it said under "Sharing & permissions" that I have "custom access' !?
When I spoke to the wife of the wonderful couple who sent me this, she said she had indeed entered my name as admin, but there was "no password".
Well Finder sure seems to know about & want one !!
How do accomplish any changes without knowing what it is ???
It's a wee bit difficult to know what my questions actually are when this confused halfway thru the looking glass . . .
And no, outside of the 2009 iMac, & a wireless mouse and keyboard not recognized when booted to Leopard, there was no Install Disc sent.Alright, . . .
I feel for anybody try'na sort thru my nonsense here, so let me eliminate things that have "improved" :
The "new" Mac calmed down, became bootable. And once Spotlight finished 90 minutes on indexing the prime external I was able to boot from it again. ( It's where all my apps are afterall, and a terrain I don't have to learn for days to use yet )
On 1st restart option, the external didn't show, but that cleared-up, and I ran Disk Warrior

Few problems/questions! (cover flow, album art...etc)
Ok I finally added my songs to my new IPOD (replaced my old one) and this is my first Ipod with video, color...etc. Its the IPOD Classic 80 GIG.
Well I am having a few problems/questions:
---Why when I hit "Get album art" does it ONLY get art for my videos? It doesn't get any for all 1,500+ songs! Is it because they aren't downloaded from Itunes? If so then why does it do it for the movies then? They aren't from ITunes either!
---With Cover Flow I updated the Album Art myself and have about 700 songs with art now. But I have two problems.
1. It won't display all 700 songs under Cover Flow!
2. It won't show them in order by song name! Can I change that?!? If not then how is it showing them by? What do I need to change?
---Are there any other video types supported besides that on Mpeg4 and that other weird type? If not why not? Its a pain to have to convert everything. Its almost not worth having this video IPOD if you have to go through sop much effort just to watch 1 stupid video. I mean I spent more money on extra programs now for music and videos then I did on the IPOD almost.
---Is there any way to transfer your music from one IPOD to another? I know some people say you can't but why? What about people like me who have music ripped from our own cds and NOTHING from ITunes? Its a REAL pain having to rerip all the cds, put them back on, rename all the songs, fix all the info...etc. Its taken me 4 days now. Apple needs to think about a "IPOD TO IPOD" music transfer kinda program.
---How do you get pics on the IPOD without having to keep them on your PC? I notice it has to SYNC them every time I have it plugged into the PC! Cover flow on the ipod can only be done (as far as I know) on Album by Artist Name. On iTunes you can change it around

Try using freeware, heres an excellent video converter for iPods:

Hello i have few problems on it, so:
1.I had 1 situation when someone was calling to me and i didn't show him on screen, screen was turned off
2.Sometimes "swipe to unlock" button dissapear
3.I had also problems ,people couldn't call to me, it said that im not available, and they called to other my phone(nokia 2330) which was near me without problems
4. In one song, i can't hear vocal, song works normal on other phone
I have also a question, can i change this feature, when i move on screen right, it opens games?/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Recovering-from-a-failed-firmware-update/td-p/398147

I have a few problems and i dunno how to contact apple.
- One of the pixels in my screen is burnt (or however you say that) and it looks red all the time.
- The audio output (for headphones) doesn't work right, every time i plug in some headphones y hear static on the right speaker (i've tried it with different headphones).
- Also, the scroll "button" in my mouse doesn't work when i want to scroll down.
I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to contact apple for these issues (i cant find anything that applies in the support section of this site.

Hi Apple! I am having a few problems with my 6 month old iPad mini (ios 7.1.1). I am using my iPad and then some time later it just restars! Don't know why and it just keeps doing it! Please fix or if I restore my iPad will it do any good? Thank you
Plug your iPad into your computer, open iTunes, and click Restore. This will reset your iPad to factory settings, so make sure everything important is stored safely. Once the restore is complete, do NOT restore from your backup.
If you still have problems, take the iPad to the Apple Store or another AASP (Apple Authorised Service Provider). If you're still within warranty, any service will be of no cost. Check your serial number here or find your receipt.

ok I have been aquainted with java for about 24 hours and would like some help in plain english. First of all, when I try to compile a .java file, i get the error message "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: component/java" I have read of a few problems similar to this but could not decipher the solution. i tried the prefix "java -classpath.welcome and got the following error "unrecognized option: -classpath.welcome. Could not create the Java Virtual Machine"
One more thing, is there a program I can download that simply write an applet and compile it (perhaps and "Edit > Compile" function?)

Thanks1 - To compile the code you need to use javac, not java. This will compile your .java file to a .class file. Try something simple like javac HelloWorld.java. If that fails, try javac -classpath . HelloWorld.java. You file ***must*** define a main method of the form public static void main (String [] args) {
System.out.println( "Hello World");
}2- Assuming you get through step (1), you should now be able to run your class file by typing java -cp . HelloWorld
It also sounds to me like you are using an IDE - don't. Compiling is porbably the most difficult part of java and you will learn nothing about it from using an IDE. -
Hi I have had my player for just over year now and a few problems have just come up. First off the power switch is getting harder and harder to use. I am having to push the power button pretty hard now and have to hold it for a little while. Also when connect my player into the computer and go into the creative mediasouce player and click to access my zen micro it says its not connected.
Can anyone help me with these problems.
Its a 5gb zen micro version .02.05 if that means anythingRegarding your connection problems, are you using WMP? It is known to cause connection problems with the Zens.
Have you tried reinstalling the Creative Software?
Have you tried the connection with another PC IF available?
And regarding the power button, I'm guess that it is due to aging? I still have my Zen Micro (even though I use my ZVM) and I do have to hold the power button a little bit longer than before (3-5 seconds more) for it to turn on. Same happens when I use the lock mode (I just tried it)
and it's kinda rough for it to push instantly (effortless but still feels a little rough).

A Few Problems (Freezing, Disc Noises)

I'm having a few problems with my 13' macbook pro.
Here are the specs on the machine:
NVIDIA 9400M
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB MEMORY
250 GB Hard Drive.
I'm running OS X 10.6.3
So, first off,
This is my third Mac, and I bought it in January 2010. There isn't that much on here, no music, no videos, and I have almost 200GB left of free space on the HD.
So, for some reasons it keeps freezing, and I only have open firefox. A lot of times the writing on the screen has to catchup with what I have typed, and I'm not a crazy fast typist. It also has problems scrolling down internet pages, as well as videos on youtube. When I play a video on youtube (I'm on broadband) and sometimes I will wait for the entire video to load, and it will start playing it, and have a hard time keeping up. The video freezes a few seconds behind, and the frames don't match up all the time. I am running Firefox 3.5.9 and nothing else at the time. Even as I write this article it has trouble keeping up. I thought at first it may have been the 9400 videocard, but I don't think so, anymore.
My second issue, not as big of a deal, but still annoying is the hard drive gets crazy loud and sometimes vibrates the keyboard. I have NOT dropped it. In fact, I have taken very good care of the machine.
Any help would be appreciated.

3. A design flaw by Intel, it occurs in all T5xxx and T7xxx CPU as far as i know, the problem is at its worst when you throttle back the cpu power.
4. the constant ticking means that the hdd is on power save, where it is constantly powering off to save power, you can go power management under display property, and disable hdd power off and see whether that solves the problem.

Ive installed gnome on a fresh arch install.
Ive got gnome and GDM working now but im having a few problems with some of the apps in gnome.
The first problem ive noticed is when i attempt to open "Apperance Preferances" the bug report is:

Ive got gnome and GDM working now but im having a few problems with some of the apps in gnome.

Mythtv and Arch - a few problems
Hi fellow Arch users
I have a few dilemmas I wish to share about Arch and Mythtv and hopefully receive some feedback/answers for.
Some background info:
After trying Fedora, K/Ubuntu, and Zenwalk I settled on ArchLinux for both my main distro and my HTPC (mainly because of the start up speed and the lightweight feeling). I have been using Linux for a month or so now, so my knowledge is not all that great but I have managed to get most programs working with a bit of research. Its just I have a few problems with Mythtv that I am unable to solve.

Asrock mATX board (cant remember the model No.)
AMD 1800+ Socket A
512MB RAM
80MB WD 7200RPM
12x DVD ROM
Geforce MX400
DVICO Fusion HDTV Dual PCI
Software
Arch 2.6.16-20(latest available kernel)
KDE (wish to switch to fluxbox when everything is working)
Mythtv + plugins
Questions & Problems:
I've managed to get a functional Mythbox going. The small problems I am having include
1. No working remote/lirc
2. I can start mtd but when I press 0 to rip a DVD it does nothing.
3. when I quit out of mythtv-setup I get an error about ~/recordings/.test is not writable
4. cant get the 2nd tuner working – I managed to download the dvb-usb-bluebird firmware but I'm unsure where it goes (in Arch)
5. if I try to make the latest v4l-dvb it say I am missing lsmod or lnmod cant remember which
6. I get all channels at 10-15% but quality is very good, no hiccups, freezes etc. I cant get one channel though (SBS - I'm in Sydney, Australia)
1. I haven't really tried yet but any advice would be great
2. I imagine this might be a permission issue ie I have to run mythbackend under root
3. doesn't seem to be a problem (yet!)
4. running dmesg tells me it cant find the firmware for the usb-dvb but the pci part of the card works okay
5. I managed to compile an older v4l-dvb source (about a month old, the source that is). I didn't need it as everything is built into the 2.6.16 kernel (I was looking for get_usb_firmware but didn't realise I didn't need to compile it to use it)
6. I know its not my aerial because with a set-top-box I can get all channels including SBS with a signal strength of 80-100%
If anyone can help I will be very grateful and if you require more info and I'll get it to you once I'm near the computer.

But confusingly/fustratingly, I havent been able to get the pci part working. Can you tell me how you actually got the pci part to work?

Brightness control noise problem
Just got a new iMac 24". The default display max brightness is way too bright. The problem is that reducing the brightness is accompanied by a very annoying electric hum at a frequency around the middle C on a piano. It sounds like a typical trafo electric hum, and it grows louder as you reduce the brightness.
In a busy office or work environment it would probably not be noticed, but in a quiet private workroom it becomes unacceptable. The hum also happens when the display is dimmed before going in sleep mode.
I am wondering if there is a way to adjust the general range of brightness, so instead of going from bright to very very bright it would go from say soft to a comfortable brightness. In this way I could leave the brightness at or near max where the hum is absent.
I've looked into the coloursync-control utility, but have not found a way to change the brightness settings.
Anyone recognizing this issue or have any suggestions?I bought the 24" imac 3.06 Ghz in the beginning of June. About 3 weeks later when I reduced the brightness of the screen, which I had done in the past, I noticed an annoying hum that increased in volume as I decreased the brightness. I called Apple support and the tech, thinking it could be electrical interference, had me unplug any peripherals. That did not solve the problem. I tried every other outlet in my house and that didn't help either. I was also instructed to zap the pram and to unplug and hold power button down for 15 seconds with no success. He said to take in to a repair center for testing. The repair center could not solve the problem and told apple it was an acceptable, "normal" issue. Then Apple refused to fix it. I called back, spoke to a supervisor, He arranged to have a tech come to my house, replace the power supply and inverter cable. That did not solve the problem. After calling apple again a few more times, and speaking with another supervisor they finally agreed to exchange my imac. That solved the problem, no more annoying hum. Fyi, the old imac I had was a week 9 build made in china, the new one, a week 26 build made in the US.

I;m new to macs, and I'm having a few problems....
The first problem I started having was with my Stickies. I was using them one day, and playing around with them. I must have clicked something because now they don't show up on my desktop. They open up and I am able to type something but I still see no stickie. At first I wasn't sure if they were opening but when i go to the dock it said several were open and when I closed some it asked me if i wanted to save them. It's been like this for a few weeks. I have no idea what to do.
My second problem, which isn't a big deal, is that the macintosh HD icon on my desktop moves when I turn on my macbook. When i first got it it stayed exactly where it was when I first bought it. Now it moves below a folder i have under it. It was doing that before i created the folder. And when I download things, when they appear on my desktop it always leaves a space between documents. It wasn't going that at first.
Yet another problem I am having is that something magically deleted its self. I emptied my trash one night before turning it off. When i turned it on the next day I noticed there was something in the trash even though I had not deleted anything. I opened it up and there was a folder called Recovered files in it. Contained in it was SoftwareUpdateCheck.pid. I have no idea what this is or means.
I bought a macbook because everyone was telling me they don't get viruses, and if they did it would minimal. I'm freaking out thinking I have a virus. I have no idea what is going on. i've had several Macs for several years & not encountered your issues, but have you called Apple Care? you get 90 days of free phone support. being new to Macs i suggest you take full advantage of it. i'm not blowing you off, we're all users here like you & maybe no one has encountered your issues. -

Roops.timeout is not an alv problem. If you try to display a "huge" amount of data, any display technology will fail. Even sap programs fail, their wise solution is to ask user to restrict data to be displayed. Or reduce database selection time, or display amount. Or propose the user to download data as a spool, or output to a file on server.
Otherwise, read some advices about how to handle timeout in [Note 25528 - Parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/25528].
