Could i get back an older backup for my ipod touch 3rd generation?
the other day i plugged my ipod in to itunes to recover but didnt have time to finish, so i unplugged it which erased all the memory and when i went back to restore its natual settings i accidently made it backup the new settings of it which was empty.. i got back my apps and my music but i want my contacts and my notes back is there a possible way of doing so?
Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if a backup exists. If so then restore from that backup.

You did not describe where the problem is. It is not clear if just cleaning the contact will resolve it, at least for a while.
To prevent similar damage on another device, ou can keep it in a warm place when not in use. Like on top of a lamp. -
I am trying to figure out how to back up ALL of my apps, games, movies, personal info, etc, that is destroyed when I upgrade ITunes ( I do not know why). If it's all on ITunes in the first place then what's the problem with installing new software after wiping it clean, then adding that software and the original apps, games, movies, tv shows, etc, that are stored on ITunes to begin with"? With that being said, I subscribed to ICloud somehow through the Itunes store, the instructions that they had for using Windows VIsta were incorrect so I signed up with the intention of using it as a tool to backup all of my data. Problem is I only got 25 gigs to start and I need 40 gigs. I also don't know how to properly set up the account or manage it, or the amount of data that it will hold. Please help me!!!! I just recently located my Touch after it being misplaced by my little sister for over a year and I'm trying to upgrade the operating system, after all, it IS over two years old.....Thanks, in advance for any help anyone can give me.

The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

Does anybody know why my ipod touch 3rd generations screen does not show anything? The screen is all black constantly. When I try to synchronise my ipod with my iTunes library it comes up with a message saying " iTunes could not back up the ipod because a session could not be started with the ipod. Please help and reply if you know an answer!!!

If i have a shattered ipod touch 4th ggeneration and i trade it in at Apple Store for the ipod touch 5th generation Will they take it even though it is shattered? and will i get my 10% recycling thing?
As far as recycling, they will take one, dead or alive, so I assume a shattered one would qualify just as well.

Updating to 4.2 for the ipod touch 3rd Gen
Hey, it seems i have a problem updating my ipod touch 3rd generation to the new 4.0 software. I am using my ordinary toshiba laptop with windows on it and my itunes recognises that i need to update and offers me the update. So.. I click update and it starts going through the motions to update it, i starts saying 'Backing up Ipod Touch' And a little progress bar to show me how it is going, it gets to like one bar and doesnt move any further, i have tried leaving it for hours but it still doesnt move any further. When i have then cancelled the backup everything closes fine so it is not a case of my computer or itunes freezing.
Does anyone have a clue and can help me??? Please!?Do you have any Firewalls turned on or do you have any Virus Protection installed?

Jailbreaking cannot be discussed on Apple forums., except to point you to the following article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743 which will let you know why Apple strongly cautions against "jailbreaking".
You could sell your current iPod and buy a new one, which will be able to use iOS 5.

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation and yesterday I was using it and noticed that it reset to a different time zone and when I dug a little deeper realized that it reset the date to December of 1969. I just went in and changed it all back. I was out of the house all day today and didn't take it with me, when I went to use it, it wouldn't turn on. I assumed it was dead, so I plugged it in and got ready for bed. I realized that the charging screen never appeared and it never made the little noise it does when you plug it in. I picked it up and right near where the charger plugs in, it was very hot. I use it when it'd plugged in from time to time and it is NEVER that hot. I then tried to plug it into the computer where it again didn't do anything and didn't show up as a device that was plugged in on my iTunes. Again, it got very hot very quickly. I am using the cord that came with it and an actual Apple brand wall charger. I don't know what else to do. Some people said to hold the two buttons down for a little bit, but nothing happened on mine. Please help!
Warm is normal, too hot to handle, literally, is not.
