Couldn't connect iPhone to internet

Hi guys, I hope you could help me with my iPhone problem. Today I was using whatsapp to chat with my friends, it works fine as usual. But later on, the internet connection suddenly lost. However, on the top left corner of the screen, it shows the provider's name and 3G. I thought it was the sim card that have problems, so I then used wifi as an alternative. But when I turned on the wifi connection, it still couldn't connect to the internet. I tried to restart my phone, but it still can't connect to the internet until now. I  have no idea what is happening to my iPhone since this is the first time that ever happened to me.
If you guys now how to fix this, please let me now. thanks a lot!

Any ideas everyone? Today I have restarted my iPhone once again, but it still remains the same. Do I have to forget the wifi network first and then retype the password? Because I tried to connect the wifi to my Mac and iPad, and it works just fine like usual. I don't know what is happening to my iPhone.

  • Boot camp with xp -- couldn't connect to the internet when installed

I need to run xp for my job because the software they use only works with windows.  So I tried installing the copy of XY I have, XP Professional, last night.   I used the same XP disk for my first mac a few years ago, a 24" iMac with Leopard.  I am now trying this on my MB pro with snow leopard.  It has the same processor as my first mac (a duo-core, I bought  a refurbished mb pro).
Everything went fine until I tried to access the Internet to get any updates and download the software needed.  I was not able to connect to the Internet at all.  I tried setting it up, etc, but nothing worked.  It could not connect, even though there seemed to be an icon that sad the signal was there (the two little computer monitors in the lower right of the taskbar)
I called my ISP to see of there was anyone on that end who might know what was going on, but nothing.  He told me that my version of Internet Explorer was old and I neede the newest one (this copy of XP was from 2002 and the original version was IE 6), at which point I asked him how I was supposed to do that when I couldn't connect to the net.  Anyway, he gave me the number for some company called plumchoice, and they couldn't help me because I was using boot camp, and I was told that they don't support that platform.  I thought that was nonsense, given that I was running windows, not OSX and it worked before.
When I did this a few years ago it worked fine -- I could get on the net with no problem,  and even then I think that there was a new version of IE that I had to upgrade to, yet I could access the Internet fine.  I thougt I needed to download some things from the internet to complete the installation (from the window that came up when you start boot camp assistant) but it couldn't find anything, so  I chose the second option that says I have the necessary disks that came with the computer.
So does anyone know what may be going on?  I would also like to mention that I didn't yet go ahead and install the OS X drivers when I tried this, but I didn't think thay would make any difference -- I thought that they were just for the keyboard and volume controls, etc.  If I need to do that, then I feel like a real idiot and you all deserve to laugh at me.
I'm not sure which disk that came with the machine is the one I'm supposed to use, so can anyone tell me that as well?  It's been a while since I did this (2008). I should be able to use this OS (and I only need it to download some software and work within it for this job).

You need to install the drivers, especially the ones for your network hardware.

  • Connect iphone to internet through macbook

How do I connect my iphone to the internet through my macbook which is connecting to the internet through broadband

Assuming your MacBook is connected via ethernet and you want to create a wifi signal for the iPhone (and that you don't have a wifi router which would be the more usual way with both devices just connecting to the router): http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10740

  • Connect iPhone to Internet via Bluetooth

I have a computer set up sharing ethernet internet connection via bluetooth. How do I connect iPhone to the Internet via bluetooth? (No cellular network, no wifi)

I have a computer set up sharing ethernet internet connection via bluetooth.
How do I connect iPhone to the Internet via bluetooth? (No cellular network, no wifi)
You cannot. There is no network connection available TO the iPhone over bluetooth. When tethering becomes available, you will be able to tether your laptop using the iPhone as an Internet connection, but not the other way around. The iPhone CAN use wifi for its internet feed though, but not bluetooth. Bluetooth only supports headsets today.

  • URGENT: How to connect iPhone to internet over ad-hoc wi-fi network from MacBook?

I need to access the internet over wi-fi on my iPhone, but there is no wi-fi network I can use, so I am creating one with my MacBook. I choose "Create Network…" from the Airport menu on my Macbook, and I am able to connect my iPhone to the ad-hoc network I have  made, but I can't access the internet with it, for some reason.
I think this might have something to do with one of the following two things, but I'm not sure:
1.) In system prefs > network on my Macbook, it says:
"Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.83.143 and will not be able to connect to the Internet."
2.) Also in system prefs > network, under 802.1X, it says: "Authentication server is not responding".
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

To add more, when looking at the network (you have to be on it or near it) in your list, click the blue arrow next to it to get the settings for that network. On that screen you can tell it to forget.

  • Connect iPhone to Internet via PC ?

I'd like to connect my iPhone to my PC's internet connection and download on the iPhone via the PC. Is it possible ? I don't have tethering..

You should be able to do this by setting up an ad hoc WiFi network. In Windows it's called ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). The Mac has something similar.

  • Connecting iphone to internet

I have strong signal bars for my home wireless. I am on the net with my computer. My iphone says, "Can't connect to server". How do I connect my iphone to the net?
    Thanks for your help!

    Teacherjulie,
Check the settings on your wireless router and make sure it either has a valid DNS server entered or in some cases no DNS server. One poster yesterday found that their router had some random jibberish in the DNS server setting for the router. If this makes no sense to you, contact the manufacturer of the router or check the documentation to find out how to configure it.
    Hope that helps,

  • TS1398 My ipod touch 2nd gen won't connect to the internet :(

Whenever i try connecting, i put in the password and it says that it is unable to connect. I've tried turning both the ipod and the wifi off and back on again, I've reset my connection settings, I've double checked the password, I've done verything short of taking it to an Apple store and getting them to look at it. My brother bought this new gaming computer, and it was taking up a lot of the band width, making the internet really really slow. We also recently switched internet, from BT to Virgin, although everything was working fine until my brother got his computer. The other day, my ipod came up with a message saying that it couldn't connect to the internet, when it's been working fine five inutes earlier. This sometimes happened with our old internet, so I just did what I used to, and made my ipod forget our internet, and re-entered the password. This used to work, but this time, it just said that it was unable to connect. It's done this ever time I've put in the password since (about ten times a day -_-), een when there's no other electronic devices on, just my ipod and the router. All the other computers, laptops, and my btoyhers phone and ipod 4th gen are connecting fine, but my ipod and blackberry just won'connect. I've tried everythin I can think of, please help!

    You can try:
    - reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off an then backon your router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Why is the SMS app trying to connect to the internet?

    Hi all,
I have an iPhone4 on a pre paid sim, and I noticed that my credit/load was being used up even though I had all push notifications etc turned off. I change the APN so that the phone couldn't connect to the internet without me knowing.
So now, each time I open the SMS app I get the message of "Could not activate cellular data network", so for some reason the SMS application is attempting to access the internet each time it is opened, and this is the reason why my credit/load was being used up.
I have NO MMS messages in my inbox so there is no reason that i can see why the app would try to connect to the internet.
Interestingly enough, this used to happen on my old iPhone 3G, however it suddenly just stopped one day.
So my questions is two fold...
    1) Why is SMS connecting to the internet?
    2) How the **** do i stop it?
    Thanks

    beecart wrote:
nick <<<SMS sends/receives data over the cell phone network - it doesn't access the internet. The reason it tries to access the network when you start it is to check for any SMS messages you have and also, I suppose, to establish and validate a connection so that you can send or receive when you need to.>>>
so does the above mean that if someone sends an sms it doesn't come through until you click on the message icon to check for them? i am having problems with delayed sms/mms but find that the backlog all come through sometimes when i have 'woke' the iphone, click on message app or launched an app.
    Any thoughts ?
No - what ought to happen is that the SMS message is pushed straight to your phone. If you're in an area of weak service, the SMS messages might not be able to get through straight away and, when that happens, it can sometimes take a long while after you move to an area of good signal for the messages to arrive. I recently spent some months working in a building where my carrier (O2 in the UK) had very poor to non-existent reception. People would SMS me during the day and, even though I came out of the building frequently, I often didn't get the messages on my phone until late evening.
    Hope that helps

  • Says I'm connected to the internet, but browsers won't work

Hi everybody. Here's what happened: I was loading a program on my eMac, which was connected to the internet fine, and my mom shut the computer off. It seemed like the computer crashed--I couldn't access any of my files. So I realoaded the operating system. Most things worked OK, but I couldn't connect to the internet, and when I tried changing certain things, it asked for an administrator name and password, and wouldn't accept any of the accounts as an administrator. So I found a code the allowed me to create a new administrator, and used it; I can now finally edit my internet settings. But I can't connect. I finally got it to say I was connected in Network Status by clicking the checkmark next to AppleTalk; there's the little green light and it gives my IP address and everything. But none of my browsers will load, and Itunes can't connect either. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Powering the machine down from the on/off switch typically is not recommended, because during a software shut down, some documents that are open are properly closed. What can happen is directory damage. Perhaps a key document for your Domain Nameserver got damaged. Try switching to OpenDNS DNS numbers from http://www.opendns.org/ on both your router and Network System Preferences. Restart the computer. Then it might fix the issue. Any proxy settings might need to be turned off as well.

  • Can't Connect To The Internet Or Router

I have had my router set up for about three years.  It's always worked perfectly fine until the other day. I think that the router just died, but I'm not sure and I want to try and fix this one before I just go out and buy a new one.
    Basic Background Information:
    Model No:WRT54GC
-The router is and always has been hooked up to a surge protector and there haven't been any other recent surges in my home.
-When the wireless router is connected to the computer (using a functioning Ethernet cable ) I cannot connect to the internet or the router.  (I can't even put the IP into a browser and bring it up.  I also tried the factory setting IP, just incase it actually did reset, and that doesn't work either.)
-When the router is plugged in I can't see it from any other wireless computer.  (I also checked for any new signals and did not see any after I reset the router.)
    -LEDs look like:
          *Power = solid green
          *Internet = solid green
*wireless = hard to tell - doesn't look like it's on at all
*all other Ethernet pluggins = solid green
    What I've Tried So Far:
-I couldn't connect to the internet so I plugged the modem directly into my computer.  -->  The internet works.
-I tried unplugging the router, waiting, and then plugging it back in.  -->  I couldn't connect to the internet or the router.
-I tried the reset button.  -->  I couldn't connect to the internet or the router.
-I tried leaving the router unplugged all night and then plugging it in and starting the process all over again.  -->  I couldn't connect to the internet or the router.
-I also tried downloading new firmware, but since I can't connect to the router through any of my browsers I am unsure how else to update the firmware.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Try upgrading your Router's firmware and then you can reconfigure your Router from the scratch...
As you are not able to go online through router...you have to download the formware by connecting computer to the modem..
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Now reconnect the Modem to Router on Internet Port and from Computer to Router on Ethernet Port 1and now Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
Now you can upgrade the firmware using TFTP utility...Download tftp utility.
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run.
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • My MAC won't connect to the internet anymore. I have ran the Diagnostic check and other computers are able to connect but my MAC no longer will. Please help.

Please tell me what I need to do to fix this problem. It was working fine yesterday and now today that is not the case. Thank you.

I had the same issue! My 24"  2008 iMac was working perfectly. Yesterday I used my BootCamp partition and when I went back to my Mac OS I couldn't connect to the internet!
The computer looks like it's connected but it won't navigate at all! I tried to verify the network settings and when I tried to do that my System Preferences app hang-up. I had to Force quit it and reboot the computer couple of times to double check.
Then I run de Disk utility to verify the disk & permissions and the scan result was that the disk was not repairable, I had to make a timeMachine backup of my personal data and completely format my HD including the BOOTCAMP partition to reinstall MAC OS 10.6 and all the updates and everything and now Everything is working perfectly.
I first tried to only format my MAC OS partition and reinstall but there was another error that the insallation couldn't be completed. Then I completely erases all partitions and erased all the files and I was able to reinstall everything in a couple of hours.
