CProjects and cFolders

Hi People
Please enlighten me about cFolders  and Cprojects. I am bit curious to know about this.
Thanks and Kind Regards
Mohan

Hi Mohan,
<b>CFolders:</b>
cFolders is the Web-based collaboration platform for the PLM area. The application enables teams that work in product development in cross-enterprise scenarios to communicate and cooperate with each other. cFolders makes it possible for teams to exchange structured information as bills of material, data sheets, or customer-defined structures, for example. This approach improves the consistency of your data when communicating with external partners and suppliers which in turn reduces the duration of the project.
cFolders is integrated in SAP document management (DMS). It is also possible to use cFolders in the SAP Bidding Engine as a container for technical specifications.
<b>Collaboration Projects (cProjects)</b>
In order to cope with the high demands of complex development and consulting projects on an enterprise, planning solutions are required that support progressive project management methods and therefore have a positive influence on project duration and quality. Furthermore, it is important to have tools that are easy to use and implement and that enable project participants to work together.
cProjects covers the whole range of project management activities, from planning and execution to the final stages of the project.
cProjects integrates cFolders for exchanging documents with external partners

  • Authorizations in cProjects 4.0 and cFolders

    Hi all,
We implemented cProjects 4.0 using EP 7.0. I have used the standard SAP deleivered roles for cprojects in backend system for cprojects and cfolders (Ex: SAP_CPR* and SAP_CFX*). I would like to control on 'project type' as there are two regions that I need to control the projects. One region is not supposed to view the projects of other region and vice-versa. I entered the respective project type for each region in the auth object 'CPRO_PTYPE', and assigned the role to that region. But doing this is not limiting each region to see only their project type. They are able to see projects of other region also..
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Also web links or documents to understand the authorizations in cprojects will be very helpful.
    thanks,
    Sashank Kondru

    Hi,
maybe the online documentation on cProject can help here. Please go to
    http://help.sap.com and select:

      --- SAP cProject Suite
There you can find the online documentation on cProject Suite 4.0
In the documentation you'll find all the necessary information on the auhtorisation objects listed under:

  • Migrating cProject and cFolder into a single server instance

    Hi,
Has anyone had the experience to migrate cProjects and cFolderon seperated server instances into a single server instance? How data migration can be performed assuming cProjects server will be upgraded to 4.5 and the cFolders content will be ported over? is this something do-able? Or it is easier to upgrade cFolder first and migrate the cProjects data over?
Since documents link in cFolder/cProjects could be captured in transaction table, how to resolve it?
Would like to hear from anyone with such experiences... thank you.
    Yeu Sheng

    Hi,
Is your new server Unix based? Are you planning to have 2 separate instances with separate DBs or are you planning to do a MCOD? Can you more details on what you mean by "2 in 1"?

  • CProjects and external ressources

    Hello community,
I would like to know how you are using external ressource (material and human ressources) in cProjects in the normal business? Are you using SRM and are you using CATS or the mm's "activity confirmation" to enter the working time?
What does a normal process looks like?
    Thx in advance,
      Max

    Hi,
You can use following steps in case of using CATS and MM.
Make External resources as a business partner in cProject by BP role as a contractor or if you are importing from HR then external resources can be classified by some specific no range.
Make resources  as a Vendor in MM, You need to pay to them so raise PO and link to Internal order of cProjects. same will work for material too.
You will be able to see Project worklist and corresponding PO no in CATS with ref to EMPNO.
Resources has to fill the time against the activity and time can be transfer to cProject and MM from CATS which will help for paying to contractor and Projct costing.
There is possiblity by Using SRM too. Need to check for the same.

    Karan Hon.

  • CProjects and xRPM Testing

    Hi All,
What do we do test in cProjects and xRPM? Is it just the navigation and creating the roles, authorizations etc? or do we need to go into the backened (ECC) and validate? can someone throw some idea of testing cProjects. Also if we need to go into the backend, what are the tcodes we need to know? Someone please help me. I am a newbie.
    Regards,
    Vin

    Hi Vinu,
From an end-user perspective, cProjects/xRPM is a pure web-based application. Everything is done in the browser.
Backend transactions are mainly used by:
      - system administrators: authorizations, user accounts, monitoring (SU01, PFCG, SM37...)
      - technical experts / ABAP developers: SE80, SE11...
      - system configuration depending on your architecture and integration: HR module (PPOSE, PP01...), PS (CJ20N, OPSN, OPSI...), CRM... Actually all transactions linked to the corresponding module

  • DMS and cFolders for requirements management

    Hello SAP Gurus
Iam suggesting SAP DMS and cFolders for requirements management for an Automobile OEM client.
The requirements documents consist of software, hardware, mechanical etc...
Did any of you implement these modules for a similar scenario?
I want to know the expert feedback in this scenario.
    Regards
    Prasad K

    Hi Prasad,
Given the way i understand 'Requirements Management', it's a holistic approach which includes identification, documentation, analysis, prioritization and agreement on requirements and then controlling the changes and communicating it to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
This is an ongoing process throughout a project.
In  this perspective, DMS(for handling documentation),c-folders(collaboration,communication wrt ERP objects like docs,BoM et-al),c-projects(colloborative pjt mgmt) and ECM(managing changes) would be an ideal proposition to handle requirements management in Automitive sector effectively. You may explore other solutions for a finer degree of control.

  • Same numbers in cProject and PS

    Hello,
when I create a new project and transfer it to PS the numbers are completly different. could someone explain me how I get the same numbers/id in cProjects and PS?
    Thx, Vanessa

    Hi Vanessa,
There is a BADI in ERP system: GCC_PS_PROJECT_LABEL, implementation CPRO_PROJECT_LABEL.
Here you can enhance method GET_WBS_ELEMENT at the end, to change WBS name.

  • Setting up ALE to integrate cProjects and HR CATS

    Hi Gurus,
We're wondering if it is mandatory to set up ALE to integrate cProjects and HR CATS.  We found SAP note 954860 and we were trying to understand it, on a functional point of view, before to send it to our Basis team.
We would like to get some advice on this.
Could you please give us any hint?
Thanks in advance for your response,
    Best regards,
    TP

    Hi TP,
it is not mandatory. Basically you have two options for resources:
    - you can create resources (business partners) manually in cProjects. then you do not need the ALE integration to HR
    - or you can replicate the employee master data to cProjects. then you don't need the manual maintenance, but you have to setup the HR integration
    for CATS:
    - if you like to do time recording through CATS, you need the corresponding integration
    - alternatively you have some easy-to-use task dashboard for the resources involved in the projects inside the cProjects appliation. Users can access the tasks they are responsible for through there. but you do not have full CATS functionality then

  • PS roles for making object links between cProjects and PS

    Hello to everybody!
Does anybody could give me a favour and tell which role I should grant to the user in order to allow him make object links between cprojects and PS elements from cProjects. • CProjects And RPM 5.0 with NWBC

    Hi,
Why is FPM used as the framwork with NWBC for cProjects And RPM 5.0. Can any other frameworks be used for cPro and RPM 5.0 with NWBC? What is the technical feasibility of using FPM with NWBC??
    Thanks And Regards,
    Anu Shrinidhi

    Hi,
    several answers to your inquiry:
You can use SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 with
    - NWBC for HTML
    - NWBC for Desktop
    - SAP Enterprise Portal.
SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 uses FPM (FloorPlan Manager), that's right, but this is not depending on NWBC (nor vice versa).
The UI guidelines valid for SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 are the same as for the current release of the whole SAP Buisness Suite, FPM usage is one part of this guideline.
It is not possible to use SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 without FPM (at least not without big modifications).
"SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0" is the successor of "cProjects 4.5" and "SAP RPM 4.5". This is the official name. There is no product or application called "cProjects 5.0" or "SAP RPM 5.0".
For features, functions, concepts, etc. of FPM; please echk the FPM SDN Forum:

  • Difference between SAP cProjects and SAP Project System

    Hi,
SAP already has a solution PS ( Project System ) for managing the projects in an Organization.
When there is a solution already existing then why did SAP come up with a new solution cProjects ?
Can any help me in understanding the main differences and advantages between cProjects and PS ?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Priyatham

    Hi.
I have copied an SAP text below which sets PS, cProjects, (x)RPM and PPM into context.
In the ninties, the Project System was developed within SAP R/3 to provide a powerful application with full integration into logistics and financials.
Target groups were industries such as engineering and construction, automotive, high tech or utilities with focus on project manufacturing or large maintenance projects.
Later on, the need for more flexible and easy-to-use tools supporting the new process methodologies, phased-based approaches, quality gates, and so on, emerged. SAP developed Collaboration Projects and Collaboration Folders (cProjects Suite), which takes these new requirements into account and provides extensive features to collaborate with internal and external partners using a HTML-like interface and Web Application Server technology.
Thus, cProjects was able to address to a broader range of industries, such as service providers, offering a high degree of visibility and flexibility to support various scenarios from product development to consulting projects. Nevertheless, cProjects is seen as a complementary product to Project System, not as ist successor!
It always depends on the scenario that a customer wants to cover, which application is the best choice.
As another matter of fact, combinations of both are also possible.
In addition to this, the new generation of composite applications was born and SAP xApp for Resource and Portfolio Management provides excellent capabilities to align operational project management with strategic portfolio management.
The latest developments bring all these three applications tighter together and offers a comprehensive solution for project and portfolio management by covering logistical, financial and human resource aspects and addressing the needs of all stakeholders throughout the entire organisation.
However, xRPM capabilities are not only restricted to project portfolios but can be leveraged to control all kind of portfolio items.

  • PLM7.0 with easyDMS and cFolders

    Hi,
Could someone please describe how SAP PLM7.0 solution interfaces with easy DMS and cFolders.Has anyone used these components together? Please share your thoughts.
    thanks,
    Rahul

    Hello Rahul,
The easy dms folder structure can be viewed from the Document Information Record in PLM 7.0
    Coming to cFolders,
PLM 7.0 can be accessed from Enterprise portal, so your suppliers can access the product data which is required for them from it.
Otherwise cFolders can be used to exchange the product data as usual.

  • CProjects and DMS

    Hi,
We're in the BBP phase and wondering if we are going to use DMS for structuring documents in relation to cProject. However as I can read this is more or less an object link. Is there possibilities to automatically copy the cProjects structure into a DMS structure?
When using easy document management it is possible to a link from the document to project definition level and tasks in cProjects?
All relevant documentation and desciptions are interesting!!!

This is the procedure for transferring documents from cProjects to SAP DMS
    1) In the project type definition in the back end, select the check box for SAP DMS
    2) Ensure that you have specified the RFC destination for the sytem to which you have to transfer the documents by using transaction SM59
    3) For the document type that you would be using, include the object link DPR_OBJLINK inside the configuration for document type
    4) Once you log into cProjects you can find the tab SAP DMS .
    5) You can continue creating the document info record once you are inside SAP DMS
    6) You can upload the document of the type for which you had defined the object link DPR_OBJLINK
    7) Once steps 5 -6 are done you can view the document inside SAP DMS
P.S. Please kindly give me points if you find the answer useful
    cheers

  • CProjects and Sales Order link

    Hi,
We are currently using cProjects for the purpose of  Resource allocation. As a part of process, projects are primarily created in SAP and they automatically gets created in cProjects. However, the management has now decided to use it for tracking Revenues against these projects. I have done the necessary changes in the Object Link and the Sales Orders can now be searched manually at all the levels i.e the Project Definition, Phase and the Task level. However, can somebody let me know that
How can all the  Sales Orders created in SAP automatically gets. linked with the cProjects in EP.
Secondly, currently all Sales Orders can be linked to any cProjects irrespective of the fact whether the Sales Order carries that particular project or not. Is there a check that only line items with the relevant WBS gets linked in cProjects.
Waiting for your reply at the earliest.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gaurav

    Hi,
it is possible to update the object link automatically with a newly created sales order....however, you have to more or less build this yourselves...
(we have this working in our own RPM 4.5 system!)
